Detailed database action in audit trail

Hi,
I am trying to see the detailed action in the audit trail like for instance the create table statement or create database link statement etc. I am just seeing the action like select or create database link but not the actual statement used. Any help will be appreciated.
Regards.

I tried the parameter value audit_trail=db,extended. It says the parameter is not allowed. What is the best way to capture the detailed database action or the sql_text which created the audit record in 9iIts not a dynamic parameter and can be changed while database is up and running. you need to shutdown and restart the database.
1) shutdown the database.
2) change pfile or spfile to add this parameter
3) Restart the database

  • Apex - Audit Trail With External Database

I'm currently trying to setup a primitive audit trail that allows me to record create data, create user, update date, update user. I currently have 3/4 however I can't get the username into database as V('APP_USER') is within Apex and the database is in Oracle 10G elsewhere.
    Any suggestions or alternative ideas?

So v() and apex_application.g_user are unavailable in the trigger code on the external database.
But procedures and package variables from the external database are available on the database running APEX.
What I would do is create a package with a package variable that will hold the apex user. ( in the external database)
Then in application definition > Database session> initialization PL/SQL code set this package variable to the apex user.
Clear the package variable again in the cleanup code.
Using a package variable will mean that the value is aviable during the whole database session but not outside of is.
In apex every page load or submit and following page load is a database session.
Now the package variable will be set when it is a apex user and null when it is a database user.
Using a nvl round the package variable with user as alternative will give the apex user when the action was done by a apex user and the database user when not.

My system tablespace is dictionary managed.
bounced the database also , but still getting the same errors.

  • CUP Request Audit Trail missing info about Mitigations & Risks

    Hi  All,
We use  SAP GRC CUP 5.3 SP8 Patch 1.
When provisioning an SAP account through the GRC solution, we notice that the Audit trail is missing any details about the risks &  mitigations that are applied to the request. Ideally we need to track the user who applied the mitigation and the time stamp for the action. We can see the Risks and the mitigations applied in separate sections in the request(but still missing the details i've mentioned above)
We have configured the system so that the risks need to be mitigated before approving a request.
Is there a way(some config) we can get this info too recorded in the Audit trail?
    Thanks,
    Anil

Since the BAdi methods are 'before save' and 'update' we can not fetch from the database also.
    Can anyone help??

  • Oracle Database Session events auditing

    Hi,
I've have a unique audit requirement for which I want to design the solution. Kindly help me in this.
What I want to do is that whenever the user create a session, say through scott schema and perform whatever in this session,
it should be logged in the audit table. What I know about features that Oracle database provide for auditing like Mendatory.standard, value
and fined grain auditing does not fullfill exect the about requirement.
Like I can audit the user machine from which It login to database and other info through after log on trigger, but how can I log the information
what he did after login like performing specific actions.
    Regards,
    Kamran

What version of Oracle? Oracle supports over 200 auditing events, so basically if there is a system privilege you can audit it. If there is an object owned in a schema, you can audit access or attempts to modify it.
Check out the 11g docs for auditing (or your relevant version) http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/network.112/e16543/auditing.htm#BCGIDBFI
You are going to have a lot of design work to understand your system and what is acceptable accesses, acceptable privileges, etc. and what is not. For example, you probably don't want to audit successful selects against a table when the application primarily does selects. You may only want to see unsuccessful select attempts audited. And you don't want a trigger to does this work for you. You want to turn auditing on (audit_trail=DB_EXTENDED for example) and allow the Oracle kernel to handle populating the audit trail.

  • Mining the Audit Trail - Techniques, Traps, Products, etc.

I'm currently using the following version:
    BANNER
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE    11.2.0.1.0      Production
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - ProductionMy AUDIT_TRAIL parameter is:
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
audit_trail                          string      DB_EXTENDEDI'm just curious on what techniques you use to mine the audit trail. Oracle does not seem to provide much information on ways of mining it outside of:
    Auditing Suspicious Database Activity
I have a requirement to review the audit data for multiple databases on a daily basis. So I'm after something that will allow me to see suspicious activity, if any, with a high degree of effectiveness and accuracy.
One method would be to develop a library of scripts that looks for suspicious activity. The problem I have with that is I may miss audit records that are suspicious but outside the scope of the scripts. This concerns me. Additionally, I don't have the time to review all audit records for all the databases I have to manage. Another thought I had was to develop a list of patterns for known entries and select the rows that don't meet these patterns. I think this mitigates the concern I have with missing suspicious activity but I'm not sure of the performance implications of such an implementation (especially as the audit trail grows).
A third method would be to acquire a commercial product, but I haven't spent time searching for such a product yet.
    Thanks for your input!

    Mark D Powell wrote:
I think you first have to define what series of actions might constitute suspicious activity and then try to write generalized code that can locate and identify these patterns such as disabling table triggers, performing DML on the table, and re-enabling the table triggers. This pattern can be necessary/justified for performing certain actions such as a purge of the majority of the table data via selecting it out, truncating the table, and re-inserting the data since you not want the the insert triggers to fire for rows already processed. This would however not be a pattern of action you would expect to see outside of a maintenance window during normal processing hours. What you are explaining here is the crux of my problem. I see two approaches (mentioned in my original post). I feel like this approach here is fundamentally flawed because I don't think anyone can come with all possible scenarios. So we are bound to miss something at some point in time which is not a good thing.
The other approach I was thinking about was removing all the "expected" or records due to "normal business processing" from the result set making the remaining records interesting by default. Then after reviewing these records I could decide on whether they were "expected" (and then be added to the list of patterns to ignore) or truly an issue. I'm interested to see if anyone takes this approach and how they implemented it in a well performing, scalable and maintainable way.
The first thing that came to mind for me was Expression Filter, but I'm currently having performance issues (see my thread in the Expression Filter forum).
Naturally what actions you audit are going to determine what behavior patterns you can even look for to begin with and on how your applications work.Completely understand and agree.
I am in favor of auding pretty much all DDL in a production environment and as little else as possible. Objects should be created once and re-used many times so all DDL is on interest except truncate on tables that are routinely truncated say as part of the production batch.Unfortunately the requirements for auditing trickle down in my organization and it is pretty extensive. I'm seeing thousands of audit entries a day which makes it hard to sift through and find the records of interest.

  • Turning audit trail off?

    Hi,
is it possible to turn off audit trail logging, preferably on a per process basis?
    Thanks, Jeroen.
PS We are using BPEL Server version 2.1.2 with the Eclipse plugin 2.2.

Thanks, but I am not sure that dehydration is my issue here. Dehydration as I understand it, is storing the state of the process on the database while the process has not yet finished. My question is about keeping a record of the process AFTER it has finished.
The context is a process we want to call very frequently and that we do not need to keep a record of. Currently, audit trails of finished instances will fill up the database rapidly. We have found a system-wide setting ("auditLevel Off") not to keep these instances around, but this will apply to all processes. What we want to achieve is to apply this to selected processes only (and not having to go repeatedly through a manual action to delete the instances).
Alternatively, and second best but workable, would be a script that runs periodically and tells the server to delete selected instances.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Jeroen.

    Hi Matt
Till you get exact answer, try indirect approach. I did view page source and could not find the details in the source code. Then I clicked on image to show in new browser and thats when I got this link: You can dig into this imageRenderer.jsp file that can be found in one of the WAR files shown below. Look into EARs also that my have WARs with this jsp. Mostly there should be some sort of Servlet also to display the audit trail. I just checked from bpm/workspace Process Tracking Tab. I did not looked from EM Console tracking tabs though.
beaHome\Oracle_SOA1\soa\applications\OracleBPMWorkspace.ear has a OracleBPMWorkspace.war file. See if this direction helps

  • Audit Trail Log for Sharepoint Foundation 2010

    Hi all,
Does SharePoint Foundation 2010 have the ability to Audit user actions including opening documents, editing permsions, etc ?
What is the different with audit trail for Sharepoint 2010 and WSS 3.0?
    Thank you
    Rgds,

I agree with Kamil Jurik. There is no auditing feature in SharePoint Foundation edition. The auditing feature is a SharePoint Enterprise feature. But yes there are free utilities on the web, like on codeplex and other. And if you are good in coding then
you may develop your own custom solution as given in a tech article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc794261.aspx

  • How can I set a report to have an audit trail?

I am using Business Objects Enterprise and am having a difficult time getting an audit trail set up for reports. If reports are scheduled, then the audit trail exists. But if the reports are manually generated, no audit trail exists. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Auditing database maybe?
Other than writing your own front end app that allows users to run reports on demand and keeping track yourself, I do not think there is any way to do this.

  • System audit trail for FBL5N and Mass Change use

    Hello,
My client carried out the foll actions yesterday.
Called TCode FBL5N using a range of customers
When the line items were displayed, they selected some of them and then went into Environment - Mass Change - New Values
Here they input a new value to the Dunning Block field.
Then they saved it and came out.
Later they realized that they should not have made the changes to some of the records. Unfortunately, now they dont remember either the customer range for which they had run FBL5N or the line items which they had changed.
So, the question is: is there any way by studying the audit trail or system history, one can find out which are the documents/line items that were changed yesterday within a specific time frame using TCode FBL5N and then Mass Change?
Please see if you can provide some input.
    Regards,
    Suvarghya Dutta

    Hello,
It must have been kept to "All"
From future, all your transactions will have security audit log.
If you want to see the system log, then visit SM21.

i don't understand why the issue because the user has the privileges given by the script and i tried with grant as sysdba but without any result
i don't understand what are the privileges that the collector needs.
    any idea?
    thnks for any help

    Hi
    Just run the script $AV_AGENT/av/plugins/com.oracle.av.plugin.oracle/config/oracle_user_setup.sql  USER_NAME REDO_COLL
This will grant the user some privileges and roles like DBA and CREATE Database Link
I hope this answer your question
    Thanks
