Determine debug status in ABAP

Is there a way to determine that a program is being run in debug mode?
I would like to be able to use transaction /h and then subsequently run a program and the program act differently depending on whether the debug method is being used.
I though system field SY-DEBUG would change but it does not appear to be different if the debug is run or not.
My end goal is to be able to access Bex Customer Exits when the report is run in a web application. Pehaps there is a way to activate debugging for this.

At first you have to set a break point in the ABAP code. Call transaction SPROXY. Expand the namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/Demo/Airline, the node Message Interface (inbound) and the interface FlightBookingOrderRequest_In.
Double click on interface II_SXIDAL_FBO_REQUEST and get the view of the proxy object properties.
Double click on the implementing class (ABAP name) and then double click on the method name (this class has only one method).
Now you are in the inbound proxy implementation. Set the break point on the first executable line.
With help of the back button (F3) go back to the transaction SPROXY. Here you choose from menu Proxy -> Test Interface
In the next pop up check the field XML Editor to maintain the payload.
In the next screen apply suitable values or upload the XML payload of the SXMB_MONI (after mapping).
Now the inbound proxy processing should stop at the break point.
If the processing does not stop at the break point, there might be an error in the XML. Check at the result page for error messages.

You set the break point the same way as described above.
To start the proxy test you call the report SPRX_TEST_INBOUND.
As parameters you enter the name of the ABAP interface and the method name of of the ABAP interface and check the parameter Edit Native XML
In the next screen you apply suitable values or upload the XML payload of the SXMB_MONI (after mapping).
Then you click first on save button (F11), then on back button (F3).

Difference Between BADI and User Exits
Business Add-Ins are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
As with customer exits two different views are available:
In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-level infrastructure (SAP and customer solutions), but instead allow for a multi-level system landscape (SAP, partner, and customer solutions, as well as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). Definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins can be created at each level within such a system infrastructure.
SAP guarantees the upward compatibility of all Business Add-In interfaces. Release upgrades do not affect enhancement calls from within the standard software nor do they affect the validity of call interfaces. You do not have to register Business Add-Ins in SSCR.
The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time. In addition, Business Add-Ins can be defined according to filter values. This allows you to control add-in implementation and make it dependent on specific criteria (on a specific Country value, for example).
All ABAP sources, screens, GUIs, and table interfaces created using this enhancement technique are defined in a manner that allows customers to include their own enhancements in the standard. A single Business Add-In contains all of the interfaces necessary to implement a specific task.

Detect DEBUG mode in ABAP code

Hi all,
Is there a way to detect that we are in DEBUGGING mode in ABAP code.
I need to determine this, because we have function modules that will be runned in a separate process in the background. If i could detect DEBUG mode, i could choose not to run these modules in the background, making debugging them possible.

When you debug a program that calls function modules using the IN BACKGROUND TASK addition, they are processed in a background work process (additional internal session). If you set the In background task: Do not process option, the system collects the function calls, but does not start the background work process. The Debugger assigns a transaction ID, which identifies the background work process uniquely. You can now start the Debugger for the background work process using transaction SM58. You can select the function module concerned here, and then execute it via the Edit menu.

How to determine host status in a task via python api

Hello all,
using the python api I am having some issues trying to determine the status of a host within a task. For example I have a job, with one task and 10 hosts associated with that task. Eight hosts finish the task, 2 fail. However via the api I can only seem to determine the status of the job and the task. What I want is to be able to generate a report that basically matches what you see via the gui (ie 8 hosts ok, 2 hosts failed). The data structure OnStageTaskData gives me a status and a list of hosts, but not a status for each host. (Note I am not using any of the depricated functions/data structures). Currently my code looks like (minus the api init, etc)...

As you correctly pointed out, there is some bug in our code
that keeps the room active and you dont receive any events or
notification if you are entering as guest and waiting and the host
arrives. Also, since you havent entered yet i.e your role is still
5 i.e. UserRoles.LOBBY , you can't access any of the UserManager's
collections and will get a length of 0 always. We will be fixing
this with priority .
But you can get around the problem as of now, by having a
small shared model of yours ( any collectionNode or sharedModel
will do) where you create a node and publish a message on it from
the Owner's side whenever the owner/host enters to notify everyone
that he has entered. Just remember to set the accessmodel of
NodeConfiguration of node on which you are publishing to LOBBY ie.
role = 5 , and make the publishModel = 100 so that only owners can
publish on this node. In this way , any users waiting will be
receiving this message and will know the host has arrived. If you
can't get this sharedModel concept to work, let me know. I will try
to run on my side.
And as of our side regarding actual fix, we will fix this use
case and put in the next drop of SDK and also update in forum about
it.
On the host side though, he is always notified when he enters
if there are pending users knocking to enter. See the KnockingQueue
example in case you want to explore that.

Have you not getting any value in Status Profile attribute.
For new attribute u need to write coding, getting the value of that released field.
First, u need to implement by going to Edit->Change Release Status ->To implemented.
Then check your BO and generate it. If any error occurs in Menu bar Goto->Error List and see what is the error.
After generation of your BO, test your BO.
If test works fine, then Delegate with the standard BO.
To delegate, u need to be in initial screen of SWO1 and goto Settings->Delegate. Give Super type as Std BO and delegate type as your custom BO and use the Std BO in your workflow.

Can you determine link status with USB Ethernet adapter?

I'm wanting to replace an old G4 PowerBook with a 11" MacBookAir. I install networks, and I often need to determine link status of an Ethernet connection. With the built-in Ethernet port on most Macs, you can check the Network Status to see if there is link on an Ethernet connection (either the green or yellow status signs).
If I am using the Apple USB Ethernet adapter, do I get similar feedback from the Network preference panel? If not, perhaps a terminal command that would do the same?

Yes - the Network Panel under System Preferences works the same as with a regular Mac, showing USB Ethernet status (connected, disconnected, etc) and with the updated connected IP address, etc.

Determine the status of a choicebox

Hello,
how can I determine the status of a choicebox, i.e. if it is in dropdown mode (so you can see all entries) or closed.
I ran into this problem because of the following:
In my applications login dialog I want to close the choicebox (if it is open) when the 'ENTER'-Key is pressed. If it is closed already I want to leave the dialog using the 'OK'-Button.
Has anybody any idea?

It is kinda hard to tell what you've done and want to do without seeing the code. How is your choicebox closed -- is it part of the login dialog box that you physically removed or do you use a flag of some sort to indicate that it is closed but left it in the dialog box)?
Let's suppose that the choicebox is physically present but is set to null (e.g., myChoiceBox=null) if it is closed, you can check to see if the box is null when the ENTER key is pressed and take appropriate action.

What is the best way to determine the status of a provisioned resource when looking at the OIM database?
In the USR_UDF_APPLICATION_P table I see all the fields for the resource, but not the status. What table contains the status?

The status of the application will be stored in "ost" table.
Following query will give u to get all the users who has provisioned to particular resource.

I developed a WebDynpro application and integrated in portal. I have to catch some portal events.For that i have written some code in my application. I tried to debug the application from portal by using all the available break-point types.but we could not .

a) Check on number of R/3 sessions opened at a time.
b) Check that user ID configured in portal using System Mapping Under 'Delegate User Administration' is the same user for which you are setting external breakpoint in backend system.

Changing STS status using ABAP

Computer remains at 'determining account status' setp indefinitely

So all my other devices have joined the new sync easily, but my main device has been stuck displaying the 'Sign in to access sync' item in the drop down menu, and 'Determining your account status' in the sync tab in the options menu for hours now. Despite being the pc i actually created the account on in the first place.

You need to turn on External Debugging:
Assuming you are in your class (SE24) > Utilities > Settings > ABAP Editor Tab > Debugging Sub-Tag > Check the box to activate External Debugging. Your user ID should be in the user box.
Now when you execute the application on the web, it brings you to the debug mode when you hit the breakpoint.

Debug RFCs within ABAP

I have a custom FM that I'm calling remotely via the .Net connector. When this function module is called via the ABAP test harness everything works great. When I'm calling it remotely nothing works. How do I set this code up for debugging bearing in mind that triggering it directly from the SAP client works just fine.

<b>Utilities> Settings>ABAP Editor--> Debugging</b> over here check the <b>External Debugging</b> by passing the User ID.
And put a breakpoint where ever u want and call the FM from .Net then cursor will stop at the breakpoint...

get the production order Object number from AUFK-OBJNR
Goto JEST Table -> use value into jest table ,you get status.
