  • Is SilverLight compulsory for running a Labview program?

    Hi,
I am using a computer on which Silverlight isn't installed (the microprocessor doesn't have SSE instructions so I am not able to install it). While installing Labview 11 I got a message saying SilverLight isn't installed. I will test my labview program tomorrow (recording analog inputs with a Labjack U6 unit (usb connexion)).
Could anyone tell me if in this particular use of Labview (recording analog inputs + savind data to a file) SilverLight is compulsory?
If needed, here is the computer :

What OS version are you using on this? 512MB for anything better but XP Embedded sounds really very short!

  • Controlling stages- labview program enough?

    Hi ,
I'm putting together a new setup with XYZ stage, rotational and tilt(goniometer) stages. I have a ESP7000 controller unit.
If I purchase the labview program (only the basic, without any add-ons) Can I control my stages and do some closed loop control ?
    Thank you.
    Ozan.

    Hi Ozan,
I checked out a couple other Newport ESPXXXX Motion Controller/Drives on Newport's website and it looks like they have a library of drivers for working with their motion controllers through LabVIEW.  I wasn't able to find a product page for the ESP7000, but I found one for the ESP6000, and from there it looks like Newport provides "A complete library of LabVIEW™ drivers covering all ESP6000 commands and extensive DLL’s" for the ESP6000.  You will need something like this for interfacing with the ESP7000 and controlling your system.
Beyond that, you should be able to use the drivers from Newport with LabVIEW Base Development System to control your system (no other add-on packages are necessary).

  • Win32 Programming for old DAQ card

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I need to convert a 16-bit Windows program to a Win32 version. The old one uses NIDAQ.DLL and NIDAQ.LIB provided by NI-DAQ for PC compatibles (Version 4.8.0). These files become invalid for a Win32 project. Are there any updated .DLL and .LIB files for Win32 programming? Does the old DAQ card still work for my new Win32 program? Your help would be highly appreciated? Thanks a lot.
    Best regards,
    Wurong

    Wurong,
The following KnowledgeBase describes the use of the NIDAQ.DLL thunking DLL on Win32 systems:
KnowledgeBase: Why Does the Name of the NIDAQ DLL Change between Windows 3.1 and Windows 95?
To use your 16-bit application, you will need to install a version of NI-DAQ that is new enough to support Win32, but old enough to include the 16-bit thunking DLL. You may want to consider installing NI-DAQ 5.0.5 (link available below).
    NI-DAQ Version 5.0.5 for Windows 3.1/95/NT
    Good luck with your application.

  • Installing labview before DAQ card?

    Hi,
We've just bought LabView 8.2 and a new DAQ card, PCI 6281 M series...
What I was wondering was whether there is any order in which these need to be installed. At the moment there is no pre-existing version of LabView or DAQ Software on the computer.
I have just read that the drivers that came with the DAQ card need to be installed before the card is inserted into the PC, but am not sure if LabView is supposed to be installed before or after the card or if it even makes any difference.
    Thanks,

  • Has anyone programmed a Psychomotor Vigilance Test in Labview?

    Good Morning,
I was just wondering if anyone has programmed a Psychomotor Vigilance Test in Labview?  I am wondering what approach you took for this task.
Thanks so much for your help!

While there are no examples of this test the test is really simple. Check out the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychomotor_vigilance_task
The LabVIEW program would be a simple Button and Light which turns on randomly and counts the number of times the button is not pressed when the light is on. If you do make the test it would be awesome if you post it to the community as an example as it is a really cool but simple application for LabVIEW. I hope this helps.

  • HP4275A can not pass self test after running the labview program

I am using Labview to control HP4275A LCR meter. The Labview program is just the instrument driver for the HP4275A, and it works great. Before running the program, the instrument can pass both Open and Short test perfectly. But after running the program, it can not pass self test, neither Open nor Short. I don't know why?? Is it relative to my Labview program??
    Thanks

Thank you so much for your help. Yes, the instrument is in Local after running the instrument driver. In normal Open self test, just choose Capactiance as the Display A, and leave the four output terminals open then press the Self Test button. The Open self test will start and "OP" will be shown in the DIsplay A window, after 2 seconds, the open test will be finished. If something abnormal, the number of the abnormal step is displayed in Display A. Similar with the Short test.
The problem I had was: before running the instrument driver, the self tests pass; but after running the instrument driver, the Open and Short test show abnormal, Open test is abnormal at step 17, and Short test is abnormal at step 24.
And the instrument driver is only write commands into the instrument and then read back measuring values from it. Nothing else. So I am not sure if the problem is my instrument driver.
The weird thing is the problems happened several times and then if I do the Open and Short self test again after running the instrument driver, both pass. I am not sure whether the problem will come back or not.
    Ia there any help??
    Big thanks

  • Can multiple LabVIEW programs simultaneously access the same NI-DAQmx hardware?

I am developing a test station system that, in essence, runs several
seperate LabVIEW programs simultaneously on the same computer, each
controlling a different set of I/O channels on one shared set of NI
DAQ hardware (analog and digital I/O PCI boards with external signal
    conditioning).
I have already gotten a system like this running almost flawlessly
using LabVIEW 6.1, NI-DAQmx 7.1 with traditional channels, and older
E-series DAQ hardware. So long as two programs do not try to write to
the same output channel simultaneously, everything works exactly as
expected--I can even read from the same (named) channel simultaneously
from more than one program. The only issue I have had is that if
    one
of the compiled applications is closed (not just stopped, but closed)
while others are still running, Windows XP (SP1) will bluescreen on a
driver error. This is undesireable, but acceptable (though if there's
    a fix/workaround, I'd love to hear it).
I am now building a similar system using mostly the same software
(with an upgrade to LabVIEW 7.1), and I've noticed that the new
M-series DAQ hardware seems to offer much more bang for the buck than
old E-series hardware and its kin.
My question is this: It appears that I/O on M-series hardware must be
performed with new mx channels, with traditional channels not being an
option. I am therefore wondering if I will be able to do this kind of
multiple simultaneous access with mx channels, or if I must purchase
the classic hardware and use traditional channels for this somewhat
    unorthodox application.
(Incidentally, the multiple simultaneous program thing is a
requirement for this system, as it is the only clean way to run
    multiple
identical copies of the same complete program that only
operate on different I/O channels, and re-doing the program from
    scratch is not an option.)

    Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
To address your question, I don't know if multiple simultaneous access with mx channels is possible, but I do not see why it wouldn't be. The best way to find out would be to test it. I don't have your program or hardware, so I'm pointing you to some Compatibility VIs. These are VIs that look exactly like Traditional DAQ VIs except that underneath they call the DAQmx driver instead of the Traditional DAQ driver. If your device works when you substitute these Compatibility VIs in for the Traditional DAQ VIs, then you'll know the M Series boards will work for you.
Here is the link for information about the Compatibility VIs:

  • Anybody experience difference in Labview program execution time on Asian Windows O/S?

I have written a Labview Program that uses GPIB to control an Agilent Spectrum Analyzer and Power Meter. It communicates with and controls the D.U.T. via Telnet. It was debugged here in Massachusetts under Windows 2000. Here the test takes ~ 43 seconds. In Thailand on an equivalent computer running Windows 2000 (Thai) the same test takes ~ 66 seconds. Time is measured by capturing start time and stop time from the O/S. Any clues to account for the difference? The time differential is the same in the development environment and the distribution environment.
