Hi
We've had the same problem, and it had to do with the setting of tooltip_text, on items.
If tooltip_text was null in the fmb, we got FRM-99999 when setting it in runtime.
Added bogus tooltip_text in fmb, and were then able to set it in runtime as well.

nullHi,
To use the Webutil, you must sign the WEBUTIL.JAR and JACOB.JAR.
Using Jarsigner, you have to define the JDK Home and the Jinitiator home.
I used whe jdk version 1.4.2 and the Jinitiator version 1.3.1.17
Don't forget to apply this modification.
Insert the line
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/webutil" real-path="D:\Forms9i\forms90\webutil" />
in the file
$ORACLE_HOME$\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\application-deployments\forms\forms90web\orion-web.xml
Insert the line
AliasMatch ^/forms90/webutil/(..*) "D:\Forms9i\forms90\webutil/$1"
in the file
$ORACLE_HOME$/forms90/server/forms90.conf
Of course You have to replace D:\forms9i with your Oracle Home.

A Developer 6 Server under Windows NT is working fine.
The Windows NT 4 workstation contains registry settings
corresponding to this previous Developer Forms Server 6
configuration on Windows NT. We configured the Developer 6
Server under Windows NT using the tutorial in %
ORACLE_HOME%/tools/devdem60/web/readme.htm.
From a discussion with the Unix DBA team we concluded that this
tutorial is Windows NT specific.
Does anyone happen to have a tutorial on deploying Oracle Forms
to the Web specifically for Developer 6 Server and OAS4 under
UNIX.
Which Unix Developer 6 Server environment variables do I have to
set under Unix for deployment of forms 6.0 on the web?.

null"NoRouteToHostException" => This looks like routing issues through the proxy server.
You can involve network admin to take care of the settings at proxy , to allow connections through the proxy server.

FRM-99999 Error - java.io.eofexception
Hi,
We are having the infamous FRM-99999 error coming up when we try to save a record on a form deployed over the web ONLY when we log on as a NON-Schema owner. Under client server it works fine and when loggin on as the schema owner it works fine. I have an open TAR with Oracle and it looks like it will be fixed in 6i. A work around is to create private synonyms under each user (very unacceptable)..
System Is:
Digital Tru UNIX 4.0E
Oracle 8.05
OAS 4.0.7
Developer 6.0.5.33
Jinit 1.1.1.18
Has anyone run into this problem?
Thanks,
Anton Ochss
Great Lakes Gas Transmissionmank02,
looks like you are trying to connect to mysql database on port 80. This is incorrect. Port 80 is typically used for HTTP. Mysql dabases typically communicate on port 3306 by default. So I am assuming the WAMP installation installed everything using default configurations you should specify port 3306 for your DB connection settings.
User: user
Password: pass
Server: localhost
(MYSQL DB COMMUNICATIONS) Port :3306
Database Name: dbname
Hope that helps. -
FRM-99999 error : download location Oracle patches?
I'm trying to deploy forms to the Web using:
Developer 6 Server
Jinitiator 1.1.7.11
Oracle Application Server 4.0.7
Windows NT 4.0 sp3
A "FRM-99999"-error occurs.
Does anyone happen to know if the above-mentioned configuration
should work for deploying forms to the Web?
Possibly a Developer 6 Server patch or OAS 4.0.7 patch is
required. Does anyone know which patch(es) exactly is(are)
required to get some results and where I can download these
patches?
Thanking you in advance,
Erik Martens

1) we have a running integrated information system developed in d2k (forms 5 and reports 3) with oracle 7.3 workgroup server as backend.
we manage to convert the same in forms 6 and reports 6 with oracle 8i as backend. we now plan to make the system web enabled. how do we go about it? what are the prerequisites for web deployment?
error 'FRM-99999' when we tried to run a form from the form builder using the run web (ctrl+e) option. we also tried to copy the form on PWS and tried to run the form using IE5.0 but nothing happens; no error message is returned. we were at a loss to understand what was happening. You need to install Forms server6.0 to test and run your forms , just conversion from forms 5.0 t 6.0 will not work. After testing it you explicitly need to deploy it on web.

OAS 4.0.8 Error (FRM-99999,Registry.dat is missing
Hi
I installed OAS 4.0.8 on NT 4 SP5 and then configured. I ran all
the services manually using command prompt and no error was
detected, but when I tried to access my Developer 6 Forms files
through browser, I got this Error after the Splash Screen was
displayed :
FRM-9999:<hostname>.<domain>/<virtual_path>/oracle/forms/registry
/Registry.Dat is missing
and file Registry.Dat is exist in this directory,
E:\orant\forms60\java\oracle\forms\registry\
Please advice me, I really appreciate.
Thanks in advance.
nullOur users were experiencing this problem. It was related to the proxy exception list that our web browsers were using.
In IE6, Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Advanced (Proxy Server Settings) > Exceptions (bottom of screen).
Ensure that these are set correctly, the browser may be trying to look out on the internet for the URL your web deployed application is running on, as it is not in your proxy exception list.
I'd be interested in knowing if this resolves the issue for you, it's worked for us.

URGENT! Forms 6 FRM-99999 a network error occurred...

NT 4 Sp3 platform. Oracle client software is 8.0.5. Db backend on
the
other PC is 8.1.5.
OAS 4.0.7.0.0
Developer 6.0.5
Jinitiator 1.1.7.11
We downloaded dev60.zip(234MB) from
http://websight.us.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?ntdev60_bg.
Here are questions we have:
Is it a bug in forms? Has it been patched? Where can we get the
latest
ZIPs and patches?
FRM-99999 a network error occurred, the client will not be able
to continue.
java.net.socketException:Connection reset by peer.
at java.net.SocketInputStream.read()
I created the base HTML file(I copied from
selltools.us.oracle.com). My browser is Netscape 4.51 with
Jinitiator 1.1.7.11. It works fine for the demos at
selltools.us.oracle.com.
I installed Developer server and demo tables. I can run demos
(calendar and buttons) from the Forms Builder in both
client/server mode and web mode.
I copied the .FMX files into e:\orant\webtemp\" folder. I defined
FORMS60_MAPPING and other stuffs in the registry.
When I go to the URL of the base HTML (static), the browser
displays:
Loading java applet...
oracle.forms.engine.Main inited.
FRM-99999 a network error occurred, the client will not be able
to continue.
java.net.socketException:Connection reset by peer.
If I stopped the forms server from "Control Panel". I got an
error
msg like:
can't contact to xzang-pc.us.oracle.com:9000.
I think the applet is talking with the Forms server. The socket
has been established. But the applet doesn't show anything at
all.

The current implementation of java in either IE or NS are not
able to run the classes of Oracle developper...
You should install the Jinitiator that comes with the Dev6.
Look for the Object or Embed syntax in the release note or the
Online manual for the complete syntax.

Hi OTN members,
I tried to configure web application server 3 with oracle 8.0.4
and developer server 2.1.
When i try to open a form on the web.it gives me frm 99999 error
which says java exception
when details button is clicked it says unable to connect to
server <ip address:8888> along with a list of stacked messages.
Iam using winnt 4.0 with service pack 3
Has any one ever faced this problem please let me know as this
matter is most crucial to me.
Thanks in advance
Arun.C
nullHi Arun !!
This problem occurs when your Forms Server listner
process is not started or it is running on some port which is
different from the port specified in your htm file i.e. (value
against serverPort.
Try these steps.
On command run prompt type
<ORACLE_HOME>\bin\fin\f50srv32 port = port_number
for example :
type
d:\orant\gin\f50srv32 port= 9000
Any unused port can be specified.Port 9000 is the default port
if not specified.
After starting the form server listner process it is must to
check whether it is actually started or not,as the case sometime
it may happen that the port you specified may already be
engaged.
Go to Task Manager and look for process F50SRV32.EXE.
Make sure that the port you had specified for form server
listner process must be same as specified in your htm file's
param name "serverPort" value .

nullAddition to my original issue...
Since I could not get the RPAS Web Deployment to work on WebLogic Server (without SSO Support), I thought I would try the install on Apache Tomcat.
This worked out of the box without any issues, so it seems my issue is on the WebLogic Server. Does anyone have any feedback on why it doesn't work on WebLogic? -
Copy file from client PC to server in a web deployed application
I have developed one application using Oracle forms 6i, which is deployed on the web server.
I run this application from a client PC in Internet Explorer using internet.
I want to copy one file from the client PC to the web server.
I have done following things
- Created a shared folder on the server and given full rights to every one on this folder
- I use 'net use' command in my program to connect to this shared folder
- I use copy command to copy file from local client pc to server. This copy command I am executing using host command of my programming (PL/SQL: eg. host('copy abc.txt \\server\share\') )
But this does not work.
When I do the same thing in command window, it works.
(ie. Start-Run cmd to open command window and then type the above copy command)
Can you please tell me, how to copy a file from client PC to the sever in Web deployed application?
ThanksI downloaded D2KWUtil from the link suggested by you. It has very nice example demo form. But the documentation provided says following
Using D2KWUTIL in Web Deployed Applications
The use of this library is not supported with Web deployed applications.
In a web deployment scenario not all functions within D2KWUTIL will work. Any function that interacts with the User Interface (such as those in the WIN_API_DIALOG package) will fail.
Any interaction with the O/S by other functions will all be executed on the NT server and will act within, or return information pertinant to, the environment on that machine. For instance GET_COMPUTER_NAME will return the Server’s name, not the name of the computer that the Client browser is running on. Likewise COPY_FILE will copy files in the Forms Server not on the Client.
Functions such as those in WIN_API_BITOP will continue to work without change.
so this will not work in web deployed application.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks -
Best practice to develop the news web part to retrieve news data across the farms
Hi,
We have developed the News Web part. The functionality it pulls the news from other SharePoint Farms and display it in the site. Currently we are using secure store service to to connect to different FARM to retrieve the news from that FARM.
The issue with this approach is that every time user hits the page it will always hit the Secure Store service. There are almost 80K users who will be using this web part. Moreover this web part connects to multiple sites for multiple news from different
division. What should be the best practice to develop such kind of web part without consuming the server resources and keep hitting the server till we get the new news.News does not change very often.
Regards
RajanieshHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know which is the best way to handle the large complication of SharePoint cross farm retrieving data.
If you are developing the custom web part to retrieve data from other farm, I suggest you can firstly create a custom timer job to get data hourly in the backend and restore the data in a list. Then you can create a web part to link to the list to display
the data.
For cross farm accessing data, I suggest you can create a custom web service to achieve it.
Also, you can use ajax to display the web part data asynchronously. It will improve the performance and reduce the server pressure.
Here are some detailed articles for your reference:

Thanks

FORMS - WEB DEPLOYMENT - NEED HELP -
Hi
We have developed some forms using Forms 6.0 on Win NT and now
wish to deploy that on Web. We have installed Developer Server
(For Forms, Reports and Graphics) in one of our UNIX boxes.
What steps are needed to get the Forms run on our Intranet as
HTML documents?
Thanks for reply in advance

Hi Karthi,
Forms is not a HTML web deployment. The deployment is based on
generic Applets. This means that we are transferring the UI to a
browser by simply replacing Motif (in your case) with Java on the
server side. If you want to deploy a Forma application in the web
just create s static HTML file (example files can be viewed after
installing JInitiator) with a reference to your Forms Module that
you use as a starting point. Start the Forms Server on the
command shell with f60ctl start port=9000 (if yiou want to use
port 9000). Via the web you access the Forms Server by calling
the static HTML File. In this HTML there is a request for the
Forms Listener.
Hope this short answer will give you a hint.

Hi,
Could any one tell me what do I need to configure to web deploy my forms? Thank you.srilakshmi,
Yes you need to license Oracle9iAS if you are using any part of it (either Forms or Discoverer).
Andrew,
I'm not aware of such a licensing option. The fact that you have a development license for Oracle Forms doesn't mean that you get a Web deployment license for free.
In any case I would urge both of you to take advantage of the new pricing promotion that we are now offering to Oracle Forms customers looking to upgrade to the Web, see more details in the headline of the Forms Upgrade Center or at http://www.oracle.com/tools/deals
For any pricing and licensing questions please contact your Oracle account manager and they will be happy to help you
