I think you should start from build a good case study, setting up the case study and deciding which technology would really fit into various area of the system flow.

The class files need to exist on the target machine. For example if I serialize MyClass and send it as a stream to machine B, machine B needs MyClass.class on the CLASSPATH to deserialize it.
Also, make sure all machines working with the serialized stream have the same version of Java installed. (e.g., v1.2 does not play nice with v1.4, etc)

Problem with CLOB in PLSQL Web Service.

Hi-
I have Oracle Package that accepts CLOB as IN parameter and another CLOB as an OUT parameter. I went thru the tutorial in how to publish a database
PLSQL package as a web service with out any problem. I was able to publish and call successfully my PLSQL web service thru a browser and thru a simple C# application. It's been working fine until I receive an XML file which is bigger than 32766:
java.sql.SQLException: setString can only process strings of less than 32766 chararacters at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:137)]
JDeveloper version: JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.2.0) Build 1929

i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

Calling DOO standard web service in ADF custom order Capture form

Hi
I am trying to call the standard DOO web service in my ADF form and I am using web service data control to call that service. But when I am dragging and drooping the method in my page with the parameters needed for that particular method and try to run the page. Its giving a null pointer exception. The main parameter for that method is _payload which wants an EBM to be passed to it.
DOO is a distributed Order Orchestration which is part of SCM fusion module. In fusion we can capture the order from different places from a legacy system from an EBS or any other application and then that captured order is passed to
DOO of fusion by calling a standard web service. But we don't have a order capture form built in ADF from where we can enter order and then pass this info to the DOO web service.
EBM is Enterprise business message,it is an xml format file which is passed to the DOO of fusion.It accept only EBM format xml in which capture order data is dere with EBM header and the data area which contains the order information.
The name of the method in web service which is called in j developer is SalesOrderOrchestrationService_pt_SubmitTransformAssignLaunch(__payload). payload is the parameter which accepts the EBM file.
The sample of an EBM or the xml which is passed to this method of web service as a payload is below.

Can I get a help on this and my question is in j developer when I make a web service data control and drag and drop that method in to my pages submit button with text box taking this EBM or xml as entry and when I submit this its giving a null pointer exception. How can I overcome this.

Hi,
for complex services like this the recommendation is to use a JAX-WS proxy client, put a POJO in front (wrapper) to access information and methods to expose in the application and create a POJO DC from the wrapper. This not only is more powerful and allows you to intercept data calls, it also gives you a netter option for debugging and error handling in case something fails.

Ssl web service call problem

Hi,
I have a form that calls a web service on start up in the docReady event.
This has been working well in one of our development environments where the the web service is on a plain non secure connection.
However, when we try and make the same web service call using ssl instead, the returned values are not populated in the form. If I run the call twice in a row, it works as usual but this is not an acceptable solution.
The other web services calls on the form all work as expected. It is just this one being called during the docReady event.
Has anybody else encountered this problem?

Hi Luke,
I had a similar problem and the reason was that the SSL certificate on the server was not valid (without any errors or warnings).
You might want to first try to access the service from a browser and make sure you don't get any security warnings, if you get any security warnings, Adobe won't be able to call that service.

Combine Annotation Driven EJB Web Services with BPEL

Hi friends,
We developed two Annotation Driven EJB Web Service and deployed successfully .
webservice 1 accepts username and password as input and returns true if ldap authentication is successful.
webservice 2 accepts username and password,and groupname as input and returns true if user is part of ldap group.
How can we combine these two services in SOA with input (username,password,group) and output (isAuthenticated ,isGroupMember) using BPEL process...

I will create a schema with input as (username,password,group) and Output as (isAuthenticated ,isGroupMember).
Then based on your requirement you have to create either Sync or Async service.
From the BPEL process i will call the 2 webservices using webservice call.
On receiving the result, populate the output variable(isAuthenticated ,isGroupMember) and send as response.

How to call an ebs web service using the soa gateway

I installed Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Media Pack v4 (32bit) and now I wanna use the soa gateway to develop and integration and consume web services. I found the soa gateway/irep and I can browse through the existing services. But how can I call one e. g. using .NET?
For .NET, I need an valid address (URL) to the services. How can I get such an URL.
Example:
I opened the integration repository, browsed to:
Order Management Suite - Order Management - Sales Order - INBOUND: Change Purchase Order XML Transaction.
I cannot find an address at this page which can be used in MS Dev Studio to call the service.
If I click on "Generate WSDL" or try to open the WSDL under the "Web Service - Web Service Provider" section, I get an error message:

SOA Provider Access resulted in exception 'oracle.apps.fnd.soa.util.SOAException: SystemError: Error while sending message to server. Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http://ebs1.tesis.de:8000/webservices/SOAProvider/EbizAuth?Generate=4283&soa_ticket=HKGsq9YYnoswMKFsHijTPQ..' when attempting to perform 'GENERATE'. Please contact your System Administrator
What exactly does this error mean?

You have to make sure every step in MOS Document ID 726414.1 that is applicable to your E-Business Suite 12.1.x release is performed. Enabling ASADMIN is just one of the steps. In spite of following all the steps in this Document you continue to get the error when clicking "Generate WSDL", please log a Service Request with Oracle Support.I will check all steps again. Maybe I missed one... Thanks!

Problem with java and flex web service

Hi,
I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
Annotations for the java web method :

When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
there are issues with the authentication header.
What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
succesfully with java ?
Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
for going about this ?
Any help would be appreciated

i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

Web Service Proxy client to invoke a Web service on SSL (Jdev 10.1.3.1)

I have to develope a Web Service proxy client to invoke a web service on SSL. First I'm testing with OC4J 10.1.3.1 and JDEV 10.1.3.1 and did this:
1) Developed a basic PL/SQL Web Service with JDEV and publish on my standalone OC4J.
2) Made a test with a browser, it worked OK
3) Generated a proxy client from JDev 10.1.3.1 to invoke web service, it worked OK
--- Now make it work on SSL----
4) Then, added SSL configuration to oc4j , generated a certificate with keytool (updated server.xml, secure-web-site.xml), and shutting down and starting the OC4j instance.
5) Import the certificate to JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/cacerts
6) Test web service from browser on https and worked OK.
7) When tried to modified proxy client (generated in step 3) to make it work on SSL, I realized that just changing the END_POINT to the new url (https) it worked!
Questions----
1.- By default the proxy client generated from JDEV 10.1.3.1 knows how to deal with SSL conections?
2.- If I dont have previously the server certificate to import it into JAVA keystore (cacerts) how could I ,from proxy client code, capture it and import it before the validation occurs... because if the certificate is not in keystore , the program fails.

I can give you one solution not direct but in some tricky way you can achieve what you are trying to do.
1. Built a client application in Java and run it as a service in your laptop and will be communicate with your application at the mobile end.
2. Send some triggering command to that application(the service you are running in laptop) from your mobile which will access the web service and perform the action you want your web service to do and send the result over bluetooth to your mobile app.
In this case instead of using the bluetooth directly to access the web service you are making one proxy application to perform. Hope this solution will help you out to move ahead. Let me know whether it works for you or not.

Web service basic question

Well I am new to web services. I have a small doubt. We are trying to develop a tool which uses web service that standards the communication between my tool and different surveillance
systems.
What my tools should do is, it needs to get data from different surveillance
system using common API.
My first question is
1) Should I implement a web service or a client. I guess the answer should be, implement a client. if so, should I make my WSDL public and tell them and if you want to provide me the data you have implement a web service definition corresponding to my client. I am a bit confused here. So pleeeeeeeease help. I need to submit my design to my professor by the end of the week.

If your tool needs to be called from the surveillance systems, you could publish a web service and give the wsdl to the various surveilance systems. Then when they need to contact you they can invoke your web service.

Calling Web Service with Flex 3.0 from WAS 6.40 and WAS 7.0

I have followed Axel Kratel's tutorial from
"How to Develop Flex Applications that Invoke Web Services" and tested it against a WAS 6.40 and a WAS
7.00.
In both cases, I get in the fault handler: faultCode="Channel.Security.Error".
Could you tell for which systems it is supported?
The error might have to do with crossdomain.xml file??

In most cases it has to be the crossdomain.xml file.
One way to check it out ...
I use flexbuilder - if I run the application within flexbuilder then the application runs fine - i.e I execute the application from flexbuilder.
However if I compile the same as an SWF and run the SWF through my browser I get the security error.
You might want to also give the development environment you are using - are you using the SDK ??
Also since you are working on VPN- just check if you are able to get the WSDL for your web service through the browser - we have a problem of having to execute the web service locally to check the same- I get an error page ( URL ending in ssocntl... or something to do with SSO ... )

Web Service with Complex Results and Flex

I have created a Enterprise Java Bean that has one "test" method that returns a String[]. I have compiled, deployed and registered this bean in Sun's Application Server 8.1. I am using NetBeans 5.0 to develop this project.
I try to load this web service into Flex and I get a fault thrown: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert []@29e5d06 to XMLList. I have set the returnType in Flex as "e4X.". Do I need to do this in my webservice.
Any help would be appreciated.

I create a web service method with String o with Array of Strings without problem. Now I nedd to create a ws that return a table, so I create a class like this:

          Surname=setSurname;
In my ws class I use this object:
public User[] getUser(String a){
          User[] user = new User[10];

          return user;
When in WebService Perspective I try to create my ws in wizard mode I see method getUser but I can't check it
