first off, your for loop is capped at 21 runs, why is
that?
secondly, why not just make all your database updates
(1 for each message) and then, at the end once all
values have been inserted, delete all the messages at
once.OK, that loop executes 20 times(basic loops in Java, remember?) Then this is why I dont delete all at once:
Suppose that there are three SMS'es in the phone.
rt.exec("gammu --getsms SM " + String.valueOf(i)); will get the SMS'es one by
one and into the database they go. Now suppose that GAMMU is reading the 16th
SMS and at that time a new text message arrives and it goes into position 4 of
the sim card. This SMS has not been sent into the database and at the end of the
cycle if I do "gammu --deleteallsms SM 1 20" all the SMS'es are deleted (including the new,
unprocessed one!) This is the bug am trying to work around

I m developing an mobile CLDC application and It is an SMS related application. Every character in the message is to be replaced with a string. So,
should I maintain a database table of that replacment strings which scans and replace this entry OR
should I apply through code like
if(char A found)
then replace it with some string.
I want to keep that table in mobile device, if I can keep it then which database is preffered and what would be its size
I am doing this for compressing the SMS data, so if there is any technique for achieving text to text compression, please tell me.
Please guide me in this problem.....

well you can use that if statement or even RMS. but it all depends with what type of app it is. if you are to change over 100 characters to strings then if statement will be seriously chaotic. i think so!

Texting / SMS on iPhone

I'm thinking about getting a 3G iPhone to replace my Nokia 9300i. A quick test drive at the local O2 shop revealed that the SMS application doesn't make use of the 90 deg screen rotate, so you can't use it in "landscape" mode. I composed a test msg with two thumbs (which is fast & accurate on my 9300i) and it was slow, annoying and unreadable, due to the number of typos. The virtual key pad is tiny!
Is there an upgrade or aftermarket tool which allows SMS to be used in landscape mode with much bigger keys across the bottom of the screen?

Sinec you are interested in SMS/text, be aware of some other SMS limitations/differences vs Nokia as several of made a transition from Nokia phones to the iPhone 3G before returning the iPhones (signal quality issues well documented by this).
One cannot forward SMS messages, nor can you cut,copy & paste. In addition you cannot insert any contact info from the contact application into a text message, as the equivalent of "insert contact", "insert number" does not exist on the iPhone. So make sure you have a pen & paper with you at all times.
Also, you cannot delete individual texts sent or received on your iPhone. You must delete the entire text history which is quite annoying.
Will Apple improve/change anything soon? I doubt it. They lauched the Original iPhone with an SMS application that could not address a text to more than just one recipient which was simply absurd. It was 7 months after the original phone was launched before they enabled this in a new firware update.

Generic Failure when send SMS from my SMS Application

I've managed to convert the applications made for android sms to sms app for OS10. But the sms application for the OS10 failed to send the message, and show error message "Generic Failure".
While the sms app for android running well. Any one help me for solve this problem ?

Unable count number of sent text sms

Hi. i am using imeesage in IPHONE 4s . But I am unable count number of sent text sms . Is there any way to count this.I hav tried to download sms coutner also but no use of this application .

Yes, there is another way you can calculate it using textHeight. Here is an example:
var myFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
myFormat.size = 16;
var myText:TextField = new TextField();
myText.multiline = true;
myText.wordWrap = true;
myText.defaultTextFormat = myFormat;
myText.text = "This is my text. This is my text. This is my text. This is my text. This is my text.";
addChild(myText);
// This formula gives you your answer.
trace(myText.textHeight/Number(myFormat.size));
You will divide myText.textHeight which is the height of your text in the box, by the size of the font.
In this case there are 5 lines, so myText.textHeight returns 80, and myFormat.size is 16. So 80/16
is 5. Remember to convert myFormat.size to a Number, otherwise it won't work.

Email bug while in sms application?

If you select contact info while in the sms application, and choose to send an email to whomever you are texting, the email view shifts down and cuts off the bottom half of the lower keyboard keys such as the spacebar.

Text/SMS to mobiles sending but not being received

Hi,
I've upgraded to Skype 7.1 and Mac X Yosemite and can effectively no longer send SMS i.e. I usually send texts/SMS to a distribution list of about 25 mobile numbers and while the history says "sent" and the credit is taken from our account, no-one is receiving the texts.
How do I fix this?

you dont know that it has nothing to do with his iPhone thats not guaranteed he could have some glitch causing it..
Actually, I do. Delayed SMS/MMS delivery is an all too common problem occurring with all carriers, independent of the phone. It's caused by carrier traffic and local signal conditions at both ends.
The only way the phone could cause it is if it froze and locked up when attempting to send, then mysteriously unfroze hours later, completing the send command. This would have been obvious to the user.

Text SMS in my mail box wont open after few days

I am facing this problem since few days as my curve phone is not opening up the text sms which are in mailbox 10 days older or before that. it will just open the message without any contents. text icons are converted to green for all these sms

Not unless you buy an app that accesses data from an iTunes backup. Check in the app store.

can i deploy my application build on oracle 10g using developer suite with db10g and I don't use application server?For individual use and development yes u can using oracle Developer suit after starting OC4J
but for client use for more than x user to be able to run reports using parameter forms and other forms application u must use Oracle Application Server

Developer Suit 10g As Application Server

Can i use 10g Developer Suit as my application server?
i mean installing developer suit 10g and keeping oc4j running and report services running on my server machine serve the purpose of an application server?
i have tried installing and configuring report services on 10g Application Server after getting tired i am planning to do this.

Developer suite can not be officially used as production server since it is light weight . It may not handle the load. If it is for limited number of users
go for it.

Text mode applications

I have a fascination for text mode applications. I certainly can't use them any faster than a gui application like many people can, seeing as I can barely touch type, but their simplicity, low memory use and ensuing elegance appeals to me. So my question is how I can build an arch system from the ground up with only the applications I need and use (I don't want vi installed by default as I can't use it, along with dial-up internet services, etc...). My second question would be what text mode programs are out there for various applications, like music, etc...? I was looking at some of the following for the beginnings of the archlinux install on my next computer.
gift+giftcurs for *acquiring* music
cmus to play that music, as I have too many issues with mpc and ncmpc, although I like that combo
nano (easy, woo!)
screen
irssi and finch (or maybe just naim?)
midnight commander
As for gui apps, I'd like to keep it down to opera alone. On my new pc I won't be using linux for anything besides music, movies, typing, and internet/email (I have online email). I will have a *gasp* windows xp pro installation on part of my hard drive for games and artwork.
I'd like to get a few command line games (nethack and tetris come to mind) also, so any recommendations for those would be nice too.

firefox + vimperator is pretty cool
I also recommend setting browser.link.open_newwindow to 0 .
That will open popups in a new tab instead of a new window, for playing more nicely with tiling wm.

I am a student and love the Visual Studio Community 2013 to implement some of my research projects. I am currently working on a project that involves streaming data analysis. ) but do not have MSDN subscription (I cannot afford it) as required in the article. Can this be done somehow with Visual Studio Community 2013 sign up?

I just confirmed that the key with Visual Studio Community is that, although it is free like Express, it does not have the limitations that Visual Studio Express had. So, to answer your question, Yes - you can do all your development work as a student with

Where would someone turn if they think they may be interested in apple/mac software development for systems and applications? I do have some experience with industrial machine control programming. Not that it directly applies, however I have been involved in some types of programming.

I would check out the refurbished section of the online Apple Store before buying a used one from Craislist. They go quickly so you have to check often. It will be more than sufficent for you to work with.
There are more than a few such books, go to a book store near you and browse them yourself to see which one works for you.
For items 3 and 4 wait until you are ready for a commercial app and then seek help from a lawyer and an accountant.
