Developing Application for third-party Java API (jar) libraries

I need some of your inputs on architecting a web based solution to invoke Vantive java API using SAP Netweaver Technology. The API provides methods to connect, insert, update, fetch data from Vantive system using java classes. Pl. let me know which would be best way (webdynpro/ j2ee/java) to create & run web based forms to connect, insert and update data in Vantive using these Java APIs.

I think there is your choice only that based on your experience with web technologies (in case of integration with portal as I understood) but the nominee with the best integration capabilities is Dynpro. Of course you can simply use standard JEE techniques (see the official JSR for official technology and release notes of official restrictions by SAP implementation). Third party integrations are available in both choices: Dynpro or not. In general your choice is better to be with an appropriate estimation, isn't it? Or try to define concretely criteria of such integration.

  • Custom Template for Third Party Balance Summary Report(Java type executable

Hi Al,l we have a requirment to have a layout with some of the fields from
Third Party Balance Summary Report( Which is a Java type executable and
Data definition has Data Template attached(.xml)).
    I tried in below way.
Coppied the Third Party Balance Summary Report program with same application and parameters
with. Then defined a Datadefinition with my concurrent prog short name
attached the same standard .xml file(Not sure what it is) and developed a custom template with
a custom rtf(excel output type), and submitted the program
the output is generated in excel but my custom .rtf layout is not getting applied
rather it is showing same layout as in standard.
Some thing I am missing here or else it is not the way of changing the
    template.
If any one know how to do this please let me know.
My client want only some files from the standard report(no need of new fileds)
    with output type xls.
    Thanks in Advance.
The same content is posted in Custom Template for Third Party Balance Summary Report(Java type executable sorry for duplicating the thread, just for increase the visibility for my issue I did this.

I gave up on using a different font or figuring out if I could use Times New Roman's built-in fractions visible in Font Book (as unicodes) and did a work-around based on Michael Wasley's tips in this discussion.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11622842#11622842
I adapted it however and think it looks a little better.
Font: Times New Roman 12 point
I used the fraction bar in 12-point (Shift-Option-1) for automatic kerning.
For the numerator, I changed the font style to superior (12-point).
For the denominator, I changed the font style to subscript (Shift-Command-hyphen) and reduced the font size to half, or 6-point using the short-cut Shift-Command-<.
When the fractions occured in my footnotes (9-point), I used 4-point in the denominator; 10- and 11-point, I used 5-point in the denominator. This seemed to produce the best result when printing.
    Thank you, Michael.

  • Integrate SAP BI with third party Java application

I want to display reports from SAP BI to third party java application. I have found many javadocs, but have not found any document that helps with this problem.

    Not much information provided.
    BO Version?
    Reports in question?
There are different set of SDKs for different reports. Also there might be changes in the API's between different BO products.
As suggested by Jawahar, its better if you post your query to SDK forum for better response as it is the dedicated forum for BusinessObjects Java SDK queries.
    Thanks,

  • DST changes impact on third party java applications

Currently we are running the following versions...
    O\S Windows Server 2003
    JRE 1.4.2_11
    JDK 1.4.2_11
Should the JRE \ JDK be patched with tzupdater utility in case of running the third party java application?

You don't have to apply tzupdater tool.
Already JDK1.4.2.11 have the updated DST Time Zone Entries.

  • Integrate 'External non-SAP Purchasing Application' with SAP SD for third party purchasing/ drop shipping?

What is the best way to integrate 'External non-SAP Purchasing Application' with SAP SD for third party purchasing/ drop shipping?
    Details about expected process Flow.
Receive PO from customer into SAP > SAP SD creates Sales Order > ?? SAP Integrate with External non-SAP Purchasing Application to trigger purchasing > External non-SAP Purchasing Application creates PO, Ships Material to Customer Ship to address (drop ship), Sends Shipping confirmation (FCR) & Invoices to SAP> ??Receive FCR and Invoice in SAP > ?? Initiate SAP Accounts Payable (Vendor Payments) and Accounts Receivable (Customer Invoice) > ?? Update SAP SD Sales Order with shipping status>
    Questions we need to answer;
      - How to achieve '??' steps from above process.
      - What type of Master Data we will need to configure (Say Materials Item Category, Type etc.)
      - Any standards options to configure SAP SD (Type of Sales Order)
      - We certainly don’t want to trigger SAP MM Purchasing (i.e. PR, PO etc.). How can we bypass it.
      - How to make statistical receipts against sales order line items so that SO status will be updated.
      - How to receive Invoice and FCR from External non-SAP app to trigger AP and AR transactions.
      - Are there any SAP standard configurations/ BAPIs/ BADIs available to achieve this integration.
Any inputs on above questions are appreciable.
    Anand.

This question is resolved. We ended up activating purchasing module and used purchasing documents PR/ PO to integrate with third party purchasing system.
    Anand.

  • HOW COULD CONNECT FROM SAP SYSTEM TO THIRD PARTY JAVA APPLICATION

    HI expects,
HOW COULD CONNECT FROM SAP SYSTEM TO THIRD PARTY JAVA or . DET APPLICATION.please provide me some scenarios and documents.please help me.

    Hi,
In the sender side i.e. in SAP system you can use IDoc/RFC/Proxy to push the data to XI.
IDoc supports only Async communication and in Sync case performace is good using Proxy.
In the receiver side you can use Java Proxy to connect to the Java application or you can even bulid a webservice over the Java/.Net application and use SOAP adapter to post data to it.
    Thanks

i am trying to work on oc4jpreview version. in that one
there is jca. to connect to different third party tools.
pls any body knows, help me in how i can configure the ibm mq
    series with oc4j.
    thanx in advance gday -
The OC4J Developer's Preview supports the use of IBM MQSeries as a standard JMS service provider. The instructions below demonstrate how to go about setting it up. There is also another message here on this forum, see http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=763587
If you want to see how JCA works, then we also have some documentation on OTN that describes how to setup and use our JCA environment (see http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/oc4j/how-to-connectors.zip). Note that we don't supply any resource adapters, so to use JCA you either need to find/buy a resource-adapter or build your own.
    <p><b>Using MQSeries As a Resource Provider</b></P>
The Resource Provider interface provides support for plugging in third-party JMS implementations. This example demonstrates how to make MQSeries the default Resource Provider for JMS connections. The MQSeries resources are available in OC4J under java:comp/resource/MQSeries/ as well as from deployed message-driven beans.
    Configuring
Install and configure MQSeries on your system, then verify the installation by running any examples or tools supplied by the vendor.
Use the <resource-provider> tag in orion-application.xml to add a custom Resource Provider. You can find an example of using this tag for SonicMQ integration in $J2EE_HOME/res_provider/sonicmq/orion-application.xml.
Add the following MQSeries JMS client jar files to $J2EE_HOME/lib:
    com.ibm.mq.jar
    com.ibm.mqbind.jar
    com.ibm.mqjms.jar
    mqji.properties
Add a <library> element to $J2EE_HOME/config/server.xml, forcing the OC4J class loader to load the third party JMS client jar files:
    <library path="../lib" />
Add $J2EE_HOME/oc4j.jar, $J2EE_HOME/jndi.jar, and $J2EE_HOME/ejb.jar to your CLASSPATH.
    cheers!

  • Component included in SAP NetWeaver Foundation for Third Party

    Hi Experts,
Now, our team discussing on how we can use integrate based on ABAP Technology to integrate Enterprise Systems.
Then, we discovered the License, that SAP delivered, "SAP NetWeaver Foundation for Third Party".
I heard this license allows client to develop custom applications on standalone NetWeaver Application Server(ABAP/Java).
I think that the ABAP instance contains SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA, and I have information that it allows to use also BRFplus,
but it is a little vague what function can be used.
Does anyone knows what component is included that license?
Especially, we want to know whather we can use NetWeaver Gateway with  standalone NetWeaver Application Server or not.
    Best Regards,
    //Naoya Tsugo

Well, the box is checked for that, so I have to assume that it is included.
    What is the confusion?

  • Drag n Drop between JButton and third party Java object

    Hi!
I want to implement drag n drop(however it is not drag n drop in its real sense) between JButton(s) placed in a JToolBar and third party Java Object i.e. Netbeans Visual Library API's Scene class that is actually like a Canvas in drawing Apps. The Scene class itself is not a JComponent (it extends directly from java.lang.Object), rather we invoke createView method on the Scene object to get a JComponent that could be used any where(probably in a JScrollPane).
What i want is that when my user drags a JButton to the Scene's view it appears similarly as something is being dragged But in actaul that JButton should'nt be dragged or dropped Rather when user releases the mouse button to drop the item i could use my custom code to do something(actually add a Widget(a graphical item) to the Scene object).
    How could this be achieved..?
    thanks in advance,
    regards.

The problem with UNIX and more specially with X is thare wasn't common drag'n'drop interface. Now there is XDND (X Drag'n'drop) protocol but it might not be implemented on each X server or may not be used by each X application.
I don't know if GNOME use XDND and/or if Java implementations for UNIX support that protocol. However you can check some other projects like:
    http://java-gnome.sourceforge.net/
    http://gnome-gcj.sourceforge.net/
which provide external bindings of gnome libraries to java.

  • No MDB for third party JMS

Just when I getting to like oc4j I ran into this.
It is a beta document for 904 oc4j.
    Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE
    Services Guide
    Release 2 (9.0.4)
    Part No. B10326-01
    April 2003
    Beta Draft March 21, 2003 11:59 am
    Third-Party JMS Providers
This section discusses the following third-party JMS providers and how they
integrate with OC4J using the resource provider interface:
    ¦WebSphere MQ
    ¦SonicMQ
    ¦SwiftMQ
Here are the operations that the resource provider interface supports:
¦Look up queue and topic with
    java:comp/resource/providerName/resourceName
    ¦Send a message in EJB
¦Receive a message synchronously in EJB
The context-scanning resource provider class is a generic resource provider class
that is shipped with OCJ for use with third-party message providers.
Note: Oracle supports only single-phase commit semantics for
    resource providers other than OJMS.
Note: OC4J 9.0.4 does not offer MDB support for third-party JMS
    providers.
Note: For the OC4J 9.0.4 implementation, MDBs are integrated
    with OC4J JMS and OJMS.
Well I need MDB capability with Mqseries, so it looks like
I am going to have to abandon ship with oc4j, and go with
a J2EE server which supports MDB and JMS the way it was intended to, and not only work with the Vendors JMS implementation. I checked this 10.0.4 preview and it is
    the same way.
I would be tickled if someone could tell me this is not
the case, but I'm not expecting any answer that would
make an MDB work with Mqseries.

    10.1.3 Developer Preview supports MQServies.
You can download the software at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/index.html
Look at the howto at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/howtos/how-to-mq-jms/doc/how-to-mq-jms.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/howtos/how-to-mq-jms/how-to-mq-jms.zip
The earlier releases support MQ Series but not in a transactional way.

  • Calling third party java page from Oracle form

    Hi,
Is it possible to call a third party java (html+java) form page (residing in separate web service server) which would take input from standard Oracle form (OCO) page?
The third party page would validate the fields sent by form page and then will provide the results which should be copied back into standard oracle OCO form page.
    Regards,
    Aneesh

Don't know if you can do this from Forms PL/SQL, but you should be able to write a stored procedure in the database that does it for you. The stored procedure could use the database package UTL_HTTP to make the HTTP request and receive the response.
Your custom stored procedure can be called from Forms PL/SQL. If you are caling to a tru web service, you can also look at the UTL_DBWS package which is a bit more high level for calling a web service, than the raw UTL_HTTP package.

  • Item category used for third party

    Gurus,
need to know the item category used for third party process and its determination, kindly help.
    thanks
    SP

    Dear Partasarathy,
there are three different processes within the third-party.
The usual third-party process (the delivery will be made directly from the third-party partner). The item category here is TAS in the standard.
The individual purchase order (the delivery will be done from third-party partner to SD-partner and then the normal delivery will be created from the sales order). The item category here is TAB in the standard.
The ALE-process is the third-party process where the purchase order (not only the purchase requisition) will be created after saving the sales order. The item category here is ALES in the standard.
I hope, this additional info helps you further.
    Kind regards,
