Developing MVC, with ADF, problem saving to oracle database

Following this tutorial
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_as_1012/j2ee/develop/endtoend/newADFto
J
SP/defaultendtoend.htm, I'm developing an application MVC, I create a jsp, for
show my datas, in this jsp I have a Button in order to creta a new record and
alaso have a button to make commit. When click create button, it take me to a
new jsp where you can put the data for new record. When click submit my record
has been created but when I tried to create a new record, the application just
update the record that I Created, and the rest of button like next, previous,
commit, just stop working. Also when I tried to make a commit, it take me to
the jsp of create a new record.

LD,
You don't need to set the CLASSPATH environment variable.
Personally, I prefer not setting CLASSPATH at all and using the "-classpath" option to the "java" command.
You only need to include the JDBC driver.
Your command should be:
java -classpath C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar test
Your error message states that class "java.sql.Savepoint" is not found.
I see the following in your CLASSPATH:
C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin
I'm guessing you're probably running java version 1.1
Class "Savepoint" was introduced in java 1.4
Try the following command:
(Again, I recommend unsetting CLASSPATH first.)
java -version
If it doesn't say you're running java 1.4 then that explains the cause of your error message.
Also, I suggest visiting this Web page:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/index.html
One of the links on that page is to the OTN forum on JDBC.
That forum contains an announcement that class "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" is deprecated.
Here is the link:
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=201
The first URL I posted above has links to sample code as well.
It's not a good idea to do connect to the database as the SYSTEM user if you aren't intending to do administration work.
That's why Oracle supplies the sample SCOTT schema.
The login and password is usually "scott/tiger".
Story goes that the guy who developed the SCOTT schema is indeed called Scott and Tiger is the name of his cat. (Whatever ;-)
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • URGENT Problem with Greek Character from an Oracle database

    Hello, I am having a serious and urgent problem with the character settings of an oracle database (8.1.7). The database is sitting in a solaris unix server and when we run the env command we have the following in the NLS_LANG parameter: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 (I do not know if this is helpful). When I retrieve data from oracle database (through a VB.NET 2005 program)to a dataset I use a special font in order to see the greek characters (HELLASARIAL). But when I am trying to save these data to a TXT file the greek characters are like Chinese to us. I tried several encodings (System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(869)) but without success. Can someone tell me how to convert the oracle greek characters during the selection or during the saving to the TXT file?
    Please respond as fast as you can.
    Thanks in advance

    Here is the answer of the microsoft:
    I have the information that you have a VB.Net 2005 application connected to an Oracle database 8.1.7.4 hosted on a UNIX server.
    This database has the CharacterSet WE8ISO8859P1.
    When retrieving Greek characters from this database in the application, you cannot see them.
    Could you please send me a screenshot of these characters in the .Net application?
    Are they displayed as gibberish, or as inverted questions marks (?)?
    I already had similar cases with Hebrew characters hosted on an Oracle database.
    These characters were displayed as questions marks on the client side.
    This is due to the fact that System.Data.OracleClient is using the Server CharacterSet to display the characters.
    If your Greek characters are not stored in the WE8ISO8859P1 characterset, then they won’t display correctly on the client-side.
    This is different from OLEDB where you could interact on client side by modifying the NLS_LANG parameter in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0.
    The client NLS_LANG and the server CharacterSet had to match in order to correctly display the data, and avoid SQL*NET conversion.
    So there are two solutions to your case:
    - The first one is to create a new database using the P8 characterset. The Oracle .Net managed provider will so be able to use it and display the characters correctly.
    - The second one is to use the OLEDB.Net managed provider, and then use OLEDB for Oracle provider. OLEDB will take care of the client NLS_LANG registry parameter.
    Would it be possible to test your application against an Oracle database with WE8ISO8859P8 characterset?
    Would it be possible to test it with the OLEDB .Net managed provider, and after checking the NLS_LANG client registry parameter?

  • How to Develop with ADF Business Components for Multiple Databases

    Hi,
    I developed business component by http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/multidatabaseapp-085183.html tutorial. it was work on mysql and oracle database. In mysql , Set Up Primary Key Generation is only one sequence share betweeen tables. How to make another sequence each mysql table?

    juddi,
    As that article states, the built-in capability of ADF BC uses that single table for all entities (tables) - since it's just a surrogate key, it should not matter. If you wanted different sequences for different entities (tables), that is something you'd have to code for yourself.
    Best,

  • The problem of installing oracle database 9.2.0 on Redhat 7.2

    Hi, there,
    I meet an error when I want to run runInstaller to install oracle database 9.2.0 on Redhat 7.2 at the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant step:
    ORA-03113:end-of-file on communication channel.
    the installer report every other things are installed successfully except Database Configuration Assistant. but after I try to connect to database using sqlplus:
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect / as sysdba
    after a very long responding time, there is an interior error. I don't know how to fix it. do I need reinstall the oracle or mannully configure the database? how to do that? my machine is P2 266 with 128M memory. the harddisk is 30GB. I don't know if this problem is caused by memory limitation?
    besides, who knows any other forums or website about oracle database installed on linux? I found there is very limit resource about this content on oarcle website.
    any hint will be great appreciated!

    It could be because of the memory. Oracle 9.x requires 512 MB minimum on Linux. Also the only Red Hat Oracle is now supporting is Advanced Server. But there are workarounds.
    There is an excellent web site for installing Oracle on Linux, but it has been down for the last week or two. But try it maybe next week:

  • Problem querying an Oracle Database using PHP

    Hi there, im rather new to Oracle so pardon my ignorance if this is completely obvious but I am creating a web form that queries an oracle database, firstly is a user form which looks like this.

    Do you need to set $invest before calling do_select() and pass it as a
    parameter? Also, watch out for SQL Injection security risks. Try
    using a bind variable.
    $invest = $_POST['invest'];
    echo "Returning results related to $invest";
    select_data($conn, $invest);
    function select_data($conn, $invest)
      $stmt = ociparse($conn,"select * from investmentbase where INVTYPE=:ibv");
      ocibindbyname($stmt, ':ibv', $invest);
      ociexecute($stmt,OCI_DEFAULT);
      . . .Although the PHP 4 naming style for oci8 functions can be used with
    PHP 5, I know there is a possibility you are using the PHP 4 OCI8
    extension. If you are, then upgrade at least OCI8. There are some
    notes on this in

When i tried to reinstall it again, i got a warning saying "DHCP configuration was detected on this host. The installer also detected that the local host name and the network hostname differ". When i ignored this warning and continued the installation, the set up falied to detect the Oracle database which i had used earlier(problem 2). Do I need to clear any logs or do i have any way to sort out these two problems. Please help. ?:|

    Hi,
    Could you try the following command ? Seems like some dependent Windows DLL is not being loaded..
    sbttest foo -libname <abs-path-of-directory>\oraopc12.dll
    This will output the reason why oraopc12.dll can't be loaded.

  • Problem in installing oracle database 11g express edition

    while installing oracle database 11g express edition during product specific prerequisite check, checking for oracle XE service instance is failed, what to do ?

    Hello, and welcome to the OTN forums,
    the prerequisites are documented quite well. I'm not sure about the actual error message, but from what you write it sounds like you already have another Oracle XE install on your machine, possible the Oracle 10g XE. As mentioned in the Installation Guide, you may have only one instance per server, so the installer fails.
    If that's not the reason, can you please post the exact error message you receive?

  • Developer rel 6i connection problem to Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.6)

    Hi guys!
    I have a very general problem regarding the connection to
    personal oracle 8.1.6 database from developer 6i products.
    I have oracle 8.0.5 client database portion and developer 2.1
    installed on my WIN98 machine in as DEFAULT ORACLE HOME.
    Then I installed Personal Oracle 8.1.6. in a separate directory
    and separate ORACLE_HOME. I am able to connect from the SQL*PLUS
    8.0 to the Personal Oracle 8.1.6
    Then I installed D2K rel 6i in DEFAULT ORACLE_HOME as I was
    informed that FORMS 6i should be installed in the DEFAULT ORACLE
    HOME. Now when I try to connect to personal oracle 8.1.6 from
    forms 6.0.8, the error message comes as the 'ORA-1034 ORACLE NOT
    AVAILABLE '
    I made sure that the directory in which the D2K 6i is installed
    takes the first precedence in the PATH environment variable of
    the AUTOEXEC.BAT
    I made sure the listener for the personal oracle is working.
    I seek your guidance.
    Thanks for your help.

    I have also the same problem. Please help me too with this.

    I think the installation went wrong somehow (XP pro is supported, XP not but you probably can get it working too ).
    You could try the action again but first manually set the ORACLE_SID by typing :
    SET ORACLE_SID=XE
    and then try to start it up again with :
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    startup
    If this still fails you could check C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\diag\rdbms\xe\xe\trace\alert_xe.log to see if any extra information is logged at the end of the file about the ORA-01041

  • Map ADF BC Entities to Oracle database object-relational datatypes

    Is it possible to base ADF BC Entity objects on oracle DB abstract datatypes or collections?
    I see don't see reference to this in the Fusion Dev. Guide for 11g.

    Thanks for your reply Steve.
    To better understand your use case, what role is the passed-in application module playing, compared with the root application module that any entity object can access already?Somehow I missed that API. I tried this in my example application (see "PolymorphicResourceTaskApp-v0.02.zip":
    public class ResourceTaskImpl
         extends EntityImpl
         public void executePreferredAction()
              executePreferredAction(getRootApplicationModule());
         public void executeFallbackAction()
              executeFallbackAction(getRootApplicationModule());
         protected ApplicationModule getRootApplicationModule()
              DBTransaction vDBTransaction = getDBTransaction();
              return vDBTransaction.getRootApplicationModule();
    }This allows me to implement my "actions" (methods) without passing in an Application Module instance.
    Or would you suggest a different way to get the root Application Module in an Entity Object implementation?
