  • C#/SharePoint -View State related issue while exporting data to excel

    We have web application based on SharePoint. We have a list view to display data based on Search Criteria. We have total of around 16000 data. When we try to export all data to excel it gives an error. The cause of the issue is:
    View State is used to save the state of page i.e. the previous state. When the export to excel link is clicked, the data present in the grid is actually saved in view state so that the overhead of again generating
    the data(as per the selection criteria) can be avoided. Now, this View state has a limitation of storage of these records. When we put in some selection criteria, the no. of records is less hence no problem in actually storing the view state. But when there
    is no selection criteria, 16306 records are too much to be stored in view state. Hence the error occurs.
    We tried to solve this issue by creating a compressor class and overriding two methods:
     LoadPageStateFromPersistenceMedium
    SavePageStateToPersistenceMedium
    This has resolved the issue with Export to Excel. However, there is now some issue in the paging of the list view. The list view has a column with hyperlink which opens related data in a form. While we click on the link in 2nd
    page of the list view, it displays data for the link in the 1st page at same row.
    Please suggest how to resolve this issue or any workaround for this

  • How to display SharePoint view column vertically?

    Hi
    I want to display my column header in vertical orientation. I created a page and inserted list view web part and content editor web part in that. I added following code in content editor web part:
    <style type="text/css">
    .ms-vh2 {
    WRITING-MODE: tb-rl; -moz-transform: rotate(90deg);
    width:10px;
    .ms-viewheadertr {
    HEIGHT: 240px;
    }</style>
    This rotates the column header successfully. But this also changes the orientation of the drop down option list. Is there any way to avoid this??
    One more thing...I don't want to apply this to all the columns. I want it to be applied to only certain columns. Please let me know how this can be achieved?

  • Illustrator CS6 - Import Dwg - Isometric View

    Hi!
    If I open a dwg file in illustrator cs6 I can see it rotated, like if the point of view is perspective, like an isometric view.
    the dwg has been created in 3ds max, but anyway it is flat, just X and Y coordinates, no vertical Z verteces.
    How can I see it normally from the top?

    AI is a 2D illustration app. None of your problems can be resolved just by opening the file in AI because unless you generated the data, the DWG doesn't even contain that isometric info. You have to generate the actual outlines in your CAD/ 3D program using whatever means they provide. I'm sure there is some line shader in there or some MAXScript that can convert 3D coordinates to 2D points and lines. Ask in a MAX forum.

    Hi,
     I created a SharePoint Site Column using the following. The site column is provisioned correctly, added to a site content type and then to a list. Items are also created in the list. No problem. But for special characters like & the list view shows
    the value as &amp; . For example if the value for this column for an item is  Hans & Hans, in the list view it is displayed as Hans &amp; Hans.
    Is there any other setting other than HTMLEncode="TRUE"? What am i missing here? Pls suggest

  • SharePoint View - 3pm yesterday to 3pm Today - Need Help

    Hello All,
    I have a basic requirement to show "Daily" stats on a list.  Criteria are 3pm yesterday to 3pm today due to hard cut off submissions.
    In researching, I took action by modifying a view on (Created Date) & custom calculated column that only shows hours of created date in 24-hour format.  I thought I could apply a simple filter:
    Created date <= [Today]-1 & [Custom Colum] <= 15 & Created date >= [Today] & [Custom colum] >= 15
    Turns out it doesn't like it.   Any other simple suggestions that I can apply or research to get 3pm yesterday - 3pm today filter?
    I have limited SPD experience in writing code but eager to learn.
    Thank you for your time, any help would be appreciated

    Hello,
    The code I shared that was tested code for Calendar List. Please verify You may be doing anything wrong.
    - Yes you need to use SPD CAML editing, because the browser based filter allow 'All'  match , and we need 'Either-Or' Filters. So you will have to modify the view CAML using SPD.
    - The code I have shared in my previous reply that was for Calendar list/view.I am Sharing the
    Tested and verified steps again for Custom List/Tabular View and for Modified Field . Hope This will be helpful.
    1- Create a Calculated column in your list. Note that should return Numeric Value for Hours ,
    Not "hh:mm:ss" . So the formula should be  -
    Name - ModifiedHrs
    Type - Calculated
    Formula:     =HOUR(Modified)
    Format -Number (1, 1.0, 100)
    Number of decimal places:  0
    2- Create a Tabular View ( e.g. DayState.aspx) for your List. (not Calendar View), through browser with filter ( Modified equal to [Today]).
    3. Now Open the view page (DayState.aspx) in SharePoint designer code view [Edit in Advance Mode]
    4. Locate the CAML query associated with the filter (Modified = [Today]), you can find something like
    <WebPartPages:WebPartZone ---
    <WebPartPages:XsltListViewWebPart ----
    <XmlDefinition>
    <View --->
    <Query>
    <OrderBy>--</OrderBy>
    <Where>
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name="Modified"/>
    <Value Type="DateTime"><Today/></Value>
    </Eq>
    </Where>
    </Query>
    <ViewFields---->
    </View></XmlDefinition>
    </XmlDefinition>
    5. Replace the <Where>----</Where> Section with this one
    <Where>
    <Or><And><Eq><FieldRef Name="Modified"/>
    <Value Type="DateTime"><Today OffsetDays="-1"/>
    </Value></Eq><Gt><FieldRef Name="ModifiedHrs"/>
    <Value Type="Number">14</Value></Gt></And>
    <And><Eq><FieldRef Name="Modified"/>
    <Value Type="DateTime"><Today/></Value></Eq><Lt>
    <FieldRef Name="ModifiedHrs"/>
    <Value Type="Number">16</Value></Lt></And></Or>
    </Where>
    6. Save the page , and test it in browser
    7. Note :
    If you have different field names , then Please change the field names with InternalName of fields in your List
    Set the CAML in single line , remove spaces
    This is for Custom List/Tabular View. For Calendar view , the View Definition are in different format, you will have to replace < and > as I explained in my previous post.
    This is tested code , so it should work. In Case of any issue , you can PM/email me or Post here.Thanks
    Thanks

    Hello Ganesh,
    Had time today and updated.  Something was off (not related) on my old view and so decided to start from scratch.
    Thank you for your help & very helpful workthrough post.   This is working 100%.
    I have two more ideas that i'm working on, would you mind if I reach out to you?

  • Change SharePoint View According to Active Directory Job Title.

    I want to change a Form Library View according to the Job Title of an AD user. I cannot understand how to do that!
    Could someone please explain how should I do that?
    Thanks,
    Chiranthaka

    You can achieve this by adding three web parts on the page and change the view on all three of them to represent the individual role. Then you will use the audience targetting on each of those web part. You will need three different audience, one for each
    role. When users go to Library dedicated page then they will only see the default view configured at the library level. You should also know that Audience targetting hides the data and do not secure the data.

  • SharePoint 2007 Export to Excel 2010 or Excel 2013 Fails to Export All Fields in All Items View

    Hi All,
    When I am trying to export the SharePoint View from SharePoint site to Spreadsheet (Excel 2013), I am able not able to export the the whole data, I'm missing some numerical columns from being displayed in Excel
    I have Infopath form (2007) published on SharePoint Site and I am using MOSS 2007 and Excel 2013. My form has only 20 or so fields and the rest are fields I generated in the form library to do several other calculations. I have already 73 columns
    displayed which should be exported to Excel, need help

    Hi,
    As per your post, I understand “Excel cannot connect to the SharePoint list” is thrown out in Excel 2010 when exporting the external list in SharePoint 2013. We are able to export the external list to Excel 2013.
    This issue does not occur on the standard lists.
    I am able to reproduce the issue and it could be a potential issue in SharePoint 2013.
    We will log this issue to our suggestion box. As after the submission, we may not have any time guarantee when the fix may be released, but it may come out on next cumulative update.
    Appreciate your time and efforts.
    Thanks.

  • Gantt view in sharepoint 2013

    Gantt view is not changing when the "style" option is selected for different types:
    - Basic Table
    - Boxed, no labels
    - Boxed
    - Newsletter
    - Newsletter, no lines
    - Shaded
    - Preview Pane
    - Default
    Regards,
    Revathy.

    Hi Revathy,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to change the styles of Gantt View.
    I test the same scenario in my environment, however, the result is the same as yours.
    It seems that the style options only work for the Standard View in SharePoint 2013.
    If you want to change the styles of Gantt View, you need to use code to customize it.

  • File not showing in SharePoint (IE) but visible in Explorer

    I have a document library that has a single file not showing up that I can't seem to track down.  I am hoping someone here might be able to offer something I haven't thought of.
    The document library is very much 'stock'.  Verisioning is turned on and minor revisions aren't viewable to folks without edit rights.  I am the admin with full control to everything - as is the user this initially impacted. The file will show
    in the Explorer view - but isn't viewable in an 'all files' file via the browser or when attempting to open via Excel.   If we provide the full path/file it does open successfully in Excel and offer the Check Out option - but it won't show up
    in the 'File Open' dialog.
    I thought at first it might be a matter of not having a version checked in - but it isn't showing under "Manage files which have no checked in version" menu.   I've gone through the various SharePoint view options and can't find anything there either.
    What would make a single Excel file in such an ordinary document library not be visible to users with full control rights?  We have roughly 80k files stored in SharePoint overall - so please don't read this as being our initial test of SharePoint.
    I'd really appreciate any ideas...
    -Troy

    Just to add a few more details. I have been able to add the file to a different library and they uploaded fine. The library in question is created off of a template and has 2 metadata fields. The fields are also being used in the other library, but that
    was created from a different template.
    The site and initial 4 libraries were created from a site template and then the library was added from a different library template. Checking ULS logs now, but doubtful I will find anything.

  • How to change the background color for lookup column options in sharepoint 2007

    Hi,
    I have a custom List with 10 fields,and in the edit form we want to display only 6 fields,
    So I have customized it with sharepoint designer 2007 ,designed a new custom edit form(Insert->ShaerPoint Controls->Custom List Form)
    We are using IE8 Browser,and the site has JQuery 1.8 loaded .
    The lookup columns is getting rendered as textbox and dropdown arrow image,instead of select html element.
    When we click on arrow image,its displaying the values magically,So I am unable to highlight the options with text "ABC" in yellow background color
    basically in the input textbox its storing all the lookup values as "ID|value "in choices attribute (I saw this in browser dev tools)
    I tried to set the textbox color everytime it loses focus using blur,however its always returning the previous value instead of current selected value.
    Is there any way we can achieve this,Any solutions/thoughts
    Thanks everyone..

    hi i bet you need to amend your jquery script to get onclick values and put it with like append HTML if you want to use Jquery.
    Also did you know you could use javascript in calculated column with type number?

  • Multi Level Grouping Issue in SharePoint 2010

    Hi All
    I want to acheive multilevel grouping in my SharePoint Views.I need to acheive grouping up to 5-6 levels of columns.
    Is there any way we can acheive this?
    Any Pointers to Custom Solutions,Custom Controls in .NET can be utilised in SharePoint to acheive this?
    Please provide some pointers
    Regards
    Mahesh

    Hello,
    previously asked questions contain a link to:
    http://techtrainingnotes.blogspot.in/2011/01/sharepoint-group-by-on-more-than-2.html
    The article basically describes how to create and use a DVWP instead of a XSLT List View. The out of the box SharePoint list view cannot have more than two groups. You need to either edit the View page and add a DVWP or create a new page with a DVWP.
    SP 2010 view pages lose some functionality if web parts are added (showing ribbon is not as straightforward and view selector disappears), but there are workarounds.
    In some cases, a Web Part Page with a DVWP may be a better alternative.
    cheers, teylyn

  • File Info and Variable values visible in Sharepoint?

    (FM11)
    We're considering Sharepoint as a CMS for use with FM11 (maybe FM12 later) and are looking for some trailheads.
    Can values of FM variables become visible through Sharepoint?
    What about File Info values (File > File Info) ?
    Which features of Sharepoint views / pages / layouts are particularly helpful or frustrating?
    If you were doing it again, what would you do the same and what would you do differently?
    Best regards,

    Hi,
    It is known issue that on exporting list items, look up column values are lost.
    For your issue, you can take steps as below to retain look up column values in export list template:
    1. Browse to the source Web’s lookup list “Sub Category” and choose Modify settings and columns.
    2. Copy the source lookup list GUID from the URL. It should be a sequence of numbers and letters similar to:  %7BFFA47BF8%2D849C%2D4F20%2D9C50%2D173D2F5B6725%7D.
    3. Browse to the destination Web’s lookup list and choose Modify settings and columns.
    4. Copy the destination lookup list GUID from the URL. Similar as point 2.
    5. Delete %2D from the string and replace with a dash sign (-). There should be no dash sign (-) at the start and the end. GUID should be in the following format: FA47BF8-849C-4F20-9C50-173D2F5B6725
    6. Save the source Web’s list that contains a lookup column “Category” to the lookup list as a list template called category.stp.
    7. Export the list template STP from the source list template gallery to the file system.
    8. Rename the category.stp file to category.cab so Windows can open it.
    9. Open the file, right click on the manifest.xml file and export it to the file system.
    10. Edit the manifest.xml file; find the source Web’s lookup list GUID and replace it with the destination Web’s lookup list GUID.
    11. Save the manifest.xml file.
    12. Open a VS.NET command prompt.
    13. Run the makecab command as: makecab manifest.xml category.stp
    14. Import the new STP into the destination Web’s list template gallery. You will need to delete it if it has previously been imported.
