Multi Level Grouping Issue in SharePoint 2010

Hi All
I want to acheive multilevel grouping in my SharePoint Views.I need to acheive grouping up to 5-6 levels of columns.
Is there any way we can acheive this?
Any Pointers to Custom Solutions,Custom Controls in .NET can be utilised in SharePoint to acheive this?
Please provide some pointers

The article basically describes how to create and use a DVWP instead of a XSLT List View. The out of the box SharePoint list view cannot have more than two groups. You need to either edit the View page and add a DVWP or create a new page with a DVWP.
SP 2010 view pages lose some functionality if web parts are added (showing ribbon is not as straightforward and view selector disappears), but there are workarounds.
In some cases, a Web Part Page with a DVWP may be a better alternative.

Multi level Group Above Report

I have a multi level Group Above report like this.
School name : xxxx
Course1
Student1
Student2
Course2
Student1
School name : yyyy
etc...
No students are enrolled in some of the courses. I used the Outer Query in SQL to include those courses. Everything looks okay, except the header for the students are still appearing. how do I supress the student heading if no drecords are present?
Can somebody help me.

you will have to create a counter, that tells you the numbers of students (summary-column, function : count, reset on : course) and create a format-trigger on the heading that hides it when the number of students is 0.

OS 7 Compatibility Issues with Sharepoint 2010

I have a number of external users (not on my BES) that need to log on to our company sharepoint site. Any BB users with os 5 or 6 are prompted correctly with requests for logon info. Anyone with BB 7 is not prompted and gets an error 401 access denied message. Does anyone know how to help bb users with os 7 to authenticate to any sharepoint 2010 site?

LDAP/AD Role group user login issue in sharepoint 2010 FBA with LDAP

Hi.
I created sharepoint 2010 site with LDAP FBA.If I add the AD user as form based user and try to login to my site its working very well but if I add a AD Group in to my site and try to login with one of the AD user of this group its say "Access
Denied".
In my project we want add AD group in sharepoin Groups not a individual AD users.
Can anyone help me with this please its urgant?

I added both LDAP membership and LDAP Role provider.And I can also find groups in people picker in my Central Admin and FBA Web app site colleciton.

Issue using SharePoint 2010 with IE10 with MS Office Excel Viewer

Hello,
We are experiencing an issue with MS SharePoint 2010 Foundation and computers who have Internet Explorer 10 and the Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003. When opening Word documents from SharePoint, the Word Viewer opens, but no document is displayed.
The MS Excel Viewer 2007 works and does open the Excel documents.
Computers with MS Word Viewer 2003 and IE 9 works fine, it's just the IE10 PCs. PCs that have the full version of Office it works fine with both IE9 and IE10.
We have a segment of our PCs that need only read-only access to the Word and Excel files. We tried Office Web App but found functionality issues (printing, etc.) and issues where the other segment of our PCs that have MS Office had to open the files
in a specific way to manipulate them.
Does anyone know of something that would be affecting the MS Word Viewer with IE10 with SharePoint? Or know of an alternate viewer?

Hello Anthony,
In IE10, please click F12 to open the DEV toolbar.
Now search for Browser- and Document Mode.
Set Browser Mode to Internet Explorer 8, that should work.
This setting can be edited in your Masterpage.
This is what you should put in:

Scrolling issue with Sharepoint 2010 in brower IE9 and Chrome sp.ribbon.js is not loading at first time

The scroll bar does not appear on the loading of the sharepoint site. It appears only after refreshing 2 or 3 refreshes. We have found that SP.Ribbon.js does not load on page load it gets delayed as it appears after the refreshing.
We have tried various CSS work around but could manage to get the scroller in browsers but the ribbon will not still appear. from CSS we are able to bring scroller but its a Page scroller but ribbon wont work, somehow we need to load sp.ribbon.js after
all webpart loads at one server request by the browser.

Issues between SharePoint 2010 == Acrobat X Pro and autosave

Hey all,
Seeing two issues with Acrobat X Pro in an enterprise environment that also uses SharePoint 2010 heavily.

Crashing Acrobat X Pro not autosaving correctly when dealing with partially remote user profiles. These are user profiles that are local (not roaming profiles), but are forced via registry to consider the Documents location to be a network location (accessible via CIFS). I noticed when helping a user that has lost work that the temporary autosave files are still local, and there did not seem to be a recovered document via Acrobat for this SharePoint-loaded PDF file. The user had this file checked out and had done a few hours of work when the crash happened. Any recommendation on:
- reporting this to an Acrobat engineer, particularly the team working with SharePoint integration via the dll Acrobat uses to accomplish that
- settings to tweak to ENSURE that crashes will leave recoverable autosaves when working in Acrobat directly on SharePoint 2010 PDF files

The following error is produced in Acrobat when trying to click version history documents in SharePoint 2010. "The URL you have provided could not be reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable." The revision of the document is reachable, but through typical HTTP via a web browser...but not through the SharePoint <==> Acrobat X Pro COM object magic that works fine for currently checked out documents. Please see inserted image. Thoughts on a fix?

update for anyone interested--
#1, broken autosave functionality for acrobat documents controlled by SharePoint (i.e. checked out from SharePoint and then worked on), I have duplicated this for Adobe. They have confirmed this is a bug, and have assigned it bug number 3328962. This bug means that your autosaving settings for Acrobat documents in SharePoint will not do anything-- so crashes of Acrobat, your computer, etc. while you are working on an Adobe Acrobat document you checked out from SharePoint will leave you in the state of your last manual save (with the SharePoint server).

RadAjaxManager issues with sharepoint 2010

I have two asp panels with ID's Panelcombo and PanelGrid .Panelcombo contains 6 comboxes and Panel Grid contains 1 radgrid. After filling all comboboxes I am showing Radgrid.I have RadAjaxManger with the following setting

I have tested my code(with RadAjaxManager) in visual studio it works perfectly.But it gives error in sharepoint 2010 environment .

I would suggest you do as follows:
1. Test your code in a ASP.NET Web Application project to see if the same error still exists;
2. Please apply other OOTB master pages to your site for a test;
3. As the limited resource we may have, it would be better to get a sample solution which can work in SharePoint 2010 environment from its official website, then deploy it to
your environment to see if it is an issue of your master page.

AD security group issues in SharePoint 2013 Integrated Mode

Hello,
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm not sure if this is a SharePoint issue or a Reporting Services configuration issue (or if it should be in a SharePoint forum regardless).
I have SSRS2012 on SharePoint 2013 in integrated mode. We are doing item level permissions, which means we have an AD security group Reports-All with
Read to the Reports document library, then each actual report has unique permissions. We have a report with the ProjectManagers AD
security group on it with Read (plus some other stuff to let them manage subscriptions), and another AD security group ProjectUsers with
just Read access so they can open the reports. The data source used by this report has the AD security group I mentioned before, Reports-All,
with Read.
At a SharePoint level, things appear to work. When a user in ProjectManagers or ProjectUsers browses
to the library, they see only the 3 reports that those two security groups have permission to see (out of a lot more in the library). That means SharePoint is reading those security group memberships correctly as far as I can tell.
The issue is when a user in ProjectManagers or ProjectUsers clicks
on a report, they get a reporting server based error message, and the ULS logs have an error specific to the user trying to run the report.
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user 'MyDomain\MyUser' are insufficient for performing this operation. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.ReportingServices.ServiceContract.RsExceptionInfo)
If I add that specific user with Read permissions to the report and the data source, they are then able to run the report without errors. It seems like some Report Server component is not liking the fact that I'm using security groups.
Has anyone seen this behavior with AD security groups? Any ideas on why my environment does not want to work properly with those even though AD security groups are working fine for other non-Reporting Services files?

According to your description, you configured SSRS 2012 of SharePoint integrated mode. You added read permission to reports and data source to AD security group Reports-All, then added just read permission to ProjectManagers and ProjectUsers groups. When
users in ProjectManagers or ProjectUsers groups click report, the error message occurred. After you added Read permissions to the report and the data source to the groups, they can preview the report without errors.
Report definition permissions are defined through List permissions on the library that contains the report, but we can set permissions on individual reports if we want to restrict access. Set properties on a report including data source connection information,
processing options, and parameter properties. Edit Items on the library that contains the report or on the individual report. We also need to have view permissions on a shared data source (.rsds) to select it for use with the report.

XML Publisher - Multi Level group totals, subtotals and grand totals

I have a question in BI Publisher report in R12 Projects. The report has the following information: Project Parent Org -> Project Org -> Supervisor name(An employee who might be owning multiple projects) -> Project -> Task -> Expenditure and Revenue amounts.
I am able to generate the RTF report considering the above hierarchy. I am able to list Expenditure, Revenue, profit margin and few other calculated fields in the report.
Now, user is looking for the total of the amount at various levels:
Task Level
Project Level
Supervisor Level
Project Org level
Parent Org level
In my Data Definition, I have data something like this:

I am trying to calculate SUM for 'TOTAL_REVENUE_YTD', 'TOTAL_DIRECT_COST_YTD' fields at a higher level (i.e. Child and Parent Org level containing multiple projects). I tried accessing them like

Please suggest how to calculate totals for grand-child.

Check drop down value with the sharePoint Group User In sharepoint 2010

We have one requirement, When user selects any value from the Drop down we need to compare that value to the SharePoint Group.
If that User is there in the group then only user allow to add new item to the list otherwise we need to display message(i.e. U r not a correct person).
We used below code:

But it's showing error.

With regards to the error message: I'm assuming you are not using SPUser objects within the dropdown and that the first parameter you are passing is missing the . (period) between selected and value is just a typo.
IsUserMemberOfGroup(ddlusers.selected value,"GrpName")
Assuming that, it may be because (for the first parameter of IsUserMemberOfGroup) you are trying to pass in a string value (ddlusers.selected.value) when it is expecting an SPUser object.
Two options (both requiring you to convert string to SPUser) are:
1. Before you call the function convert the string to an SPUser object then pass in the SPUser
2. Modify the first parameter of the function to be a string and do the conversion within the function (probably what I would do as more reusable).
To convert to an SPUser it depends on what is listed within the drop down.
If it is usernames then you can do something like: SPUser user
= SPContext.Current.Web.EnsureUser(ddlusers.selected.value);
If it is something else (not usernames) then you would need to workout how to convert to SPUser.
A bit confused on what you are trying to achieve here - what if I select another user in the list that isn't me? Can I then add something to the list?

Column width issue in SharePoint 2010 Reports using SSRS webpart

Dear sir,
We need to adjust column width for output of reports. We are using SSRS webpart to generate reports. It is taking unexpected column width.
We show that dynamically we cannot set the column width but we are passing the query statically is there any way or chances to mange column width.
Please help.

If it's important, I'd suggest ringing Microsoft Premier Support and logging a call. The working world is probably just getting back to their offices.
For both columns, you can think about some JQuery to isolate the appropriate selectors and just reside them in the page rendering. You'll need JavaScript enabled in your browser for this but this code within a CEWP should do the trick.

Issues after sharepoint 2010 sp2 upgrade

I am using Lookupset in SSRS report to connect multiple datasets.

I have renamed the Title column as serial_No.
When i am opening the report, "Name" is not populated in the report.

Is the Serial_No field is included in the DataSet1?
If not, then you need to change DataSet1 to the dataset where the Serial_No exists.
And for the DataSet query, it is like the format below:

Sharepoint 2010 Permission level Full Control and explicit deny

I am facing a very frustating permission level issue with Sharepoint 2010. First, everything worked as expected up to few days ago.
I have a user on my sharepoint 2010 env (publishing portal) named rjo who is site collection administrator and has also Full Control permission level.
When I execute the Check Permission command from the ribbon I get the following:
Permission levels given to xxxx\rjo
Full Control
Given through the "xxx Owners" group.
The following factors also affect the level of access for xxx\rjo (xxx\rjo)
Deny
Manage Permissions
Create and change permission levels on the Web site and assign permissions to users and groups.
Deny
Create Subsites
Create subsites such as team sites, Meeting Workspace sites, and Document Workspace sites.
etc.. Seems like all the individual permissions are set to deny.
If I remove the user rjo from the Full Control permission level, all the deny permissions disappear. I have tried creating a brand new permission level with Allow permission on al items but I still get the deny when I check the permissions. Notice that this
happens for all the users.
Does anyone experienced a similar issue? I suspect some kind of Windows update to have messed up the permissions but I cannot find a way to get proper permissions to my users.

I had a similar issue. When checking user permissions on any member of the site collection Owners group, the results were similar to those posted above. Also noticed that some buttons on the ribbon were missing. Also found that no user
could add content to Library. The Add button was missing. Issue was only happening on one site collection in the web application, so it was not a Web App Policy issue.
Eventually discovered that the site collection was locked as read-only.
Central Administration > Application Management > Configure Quotas and Locks
change the web application and site collection as needed to view setting for the affected site collection
Found lock set to 'Read-only' Changed to 'Not Locked'
