DHCP still giving out addresses to clients on the Deny filter

My DHCP server is handing out addresses to clients that I have put on the deny list. The "Enable Deny List" is checked. Its not to every client either. It is just a handful that keeps popping back. What am I missing?

Hi Alphateam,
Have you confirmed that the deny is on all interfaces, wired and wireless of said machines.

  • WRTU54G-TM Port Forward issues, DHCP server disabled but still gives out addresses

I've seen other posts about port-forwarding issues.  I've had to hard-reset the device twice in 2 months to clear this up.
One issue that I can't figure out at all is that the DHCP server gives out addresses when it is set to disabled.  This is a problem because it gives out the public DNS servers, which will not resolve addresses on my LAN.  Anyone else seen this?
Anyone had success putting this router behind a better one and still getting the phone SIM to register and work?

Have you tried to upgrade the firmware on your Router?
Click Download  the latest firmware for your Router and save the Firmware file on your Desktop.
Once you Download the firmware for your Router, Now you need to login to the Router setup page and click on the "Administration" tab and below click on "Firmware Upgrade" and then click on the Browse Button and select the firmware file and click on Upgrade.
Once the firmware is upgraded successfully then you need to Reset your Router and Re-configure all the settings on your Router from scratch.

  • DHCP not giving ip to wireless client

    Dear All,
            i have one typical problem.
I was configured wireless access point 1140 and integrate with windows IAS (radius server) for authentication to wireless client.
    My server vlan            10
    my AP vlan                 2
    My clinet vlan             3
when i connected clinet on vlan 3 through cable its ok, but when i go through IAS (Radius Server) client not getting IP address.  I was created one bvi interface on AP and put in 1 native vlan. But still same problem.
can any one help me to solve this problem.

I assume that you configure the AP
as autonomous mode. If this is the case, BVI interface on the AP is used for management purpose. The AP does not use BVI for forwarding wireless client traffic.
I agree with Jonathan that we need to confirm the problem is forwarding issue. Can you do a show dot11 as. Find out if the client is stuck in authentication status.
Assume that the wireless client pass authentication. Please post the followings:
show run int dot 0/0 and show run int dot 0/0 or whatever interface and sub-interface the SSID is associated to
show run int gi 0/0 and show run int gi 0/0.3
show spanning interface on the switch side
Is there DHCP server on VLAN 3? If not, please show me the router on VLAN 3? I would like to confirm that DHCP relay agent (i.e. ip helper-address) is configured.

  • DHCP not giving out adresses

    Hi there,
just upgraded from Lion Server to ML Server. I found that everything is runnign quite smooth here (OD Master with 800+ users, NetInstall, etc etc), but I have problems with my DHCP Service:
As is written in Apple's KB Article, all the config files with my setup from Lion Server are still there and the service also is up and running, but my clients just won't get IPs and settings via DHCP. I also thought about firewall issues, but just as with DHCP, these settings were kept and are up and running. I've also found the tutorial from Krypted.com and read the other posts, but I really can't find the problem's source.
    Anybody here with similar problems?
    best whishes,
    Christian

Thanks man! That's been it. Who would guess, that although they transfer all the settings when upgrading, the server is disabled

Are there any event log errors?
As a test, if you run it without any third party services running, does it do the same thing? To do that, from a Start/Run box, run
msconfig, select Service tab, click on Hide Microsoft Services, then make sure the list left is checked, and disable them, and restart. Run it as a test, and if it doesn't occur, then you know it's third party software doing it.

I have a similar chat application. When the user attempts to connect, instead of sending a simple string, the client sends a serialized object(xml string) with all relevant login and session information, this includes the user's IP address. Once the server
receives said information, depending on the type of TCP broadcast (a custom enumerated type) information from one user may be passed to a single user, or distributed to many users.
If it helps, here is the TCPBroadcast object I use. But in order for your server to understand it, you kind of have to build your server and client somewhat around it.

  • New SCCM 2012 client machines still getting SCCM 2012 SP1 client not the new SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 client

    Hi,
I've successfully (as far as I can tell) deployed SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 and all my existing clients are showing a client version of 5.00.7804.1400.  But when I setup a new client system recently I noticed that the client version was showing 5.00.7804.1000,
    and not 5.00.7804.1400.
For new client systems, do I need to redeploy the packages that were created for SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 so that the new systems get the new SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 client?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,
Here's some good information to look over:
    http://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/09/24/sccm-2012-include-cu-in-osd/
I haven't followed these instructions myself, since I haven't really had any good reason to include CUs during the initial installation process. I use this method instead and I've never run into any problems:

  • Lightroom 1.1 still running out of memory

Last night I downloaded Lightroom 1.1. Unfortunately, it's still running out of memory. Interestingly, the out of memory message was upside down. Task Manager was reporting that LR was using 1.8GB. My machine has 4GB, so I'm not sure what the problem was.
    I'm running Windows XP w/SP 2.
    Jay

32bit apps usually can only access 2Gb of memory. Their address space is 2Gb. There are techniques that allow 32bit apps to access more than 2Gb of memory, known as AWE, but I seriously doubt Lr has something like that.
That could be the cause: LR was using 1.8Gb of memory, so it sounds certainly possible for it to get out of memory errors.
BTW: does Windows recognize the 4Gb of memory in your machine? IIRC, you could make it see up to 3Gb, but not more.

  • DHCP Deny Filter

I had a question about the DHCP deny filter.  I've added a few users to the deny filter in one of our scopes in DHCP.  I see some users still in the scope with the filter profile of deny, and I see a few under the Filters > Deny.  Can
I reasonably assume bot are working properly?  And with this filter, these MAC addresses can no longer authenticate to the network?
The reason I'm asking is I'm debating whether or not to block the MAC addresses on the Aironet (these are all wifi users) or to just leave the deny policy on the DHCP.

    Hi,
Im sorry to hear that. You do add them to the filter by going to the leased ip addresses an right-click add to filter, right? you could try to run the BPA associated with DHCP an see if there is something we've missed. Under normal conditions it works flawless
but it might depend on certain aspects that we currently don't know but we will find them out.
You are positive there is no other DHCP server/router/nas/etc leasing addresses in your network. The filter option in new to 2008 R2 and was not available in earlier versions, it's equivallent for 2003/2008 was something called
Callout DLL. You could try to run a packet sniffer like \wireeshark or Microsoft Network monitor to see what happens. Make sure that you are not filtering any reserved ip addresses.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941155(WS.10).aspx.
You also might want to try the reverse if it;s not to much effort, create an Allow list and then the Deny list should be populated.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee956897(WS.10).aspx
Also there is a Step by Step guide to demonstrating DHCP filtering in a lab/test enviroment. I reccomend using virtual machines : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee405265(WS.10).aspx
If you tried all of the above post an ipconfig /all from a DHCP Client that is not blocked, although his mac address is filtered.
You could bypass this MAC filter by using MAC spoofing or setting a different MAC address. Although I doubt this is the case have that in mind also.
    Thanks.

  • WRT54G: Static mode set on WAN side, but still sometimes pulls address via DHCP!

We've had (6) WRT54G (v5) installed in a building, for about (2) years now, with no previous problems. Now, ALL of them are doing something weird.  They are all set for Static mode on the WAN side (we have static ip addresses for these), yet every now and then they will spontaneously pull an address via DHCP on their own.  When they do this, the setting itself doesn't change.  It will still show "STATIC" in the pull down list.  But, the address will no longer be the address we assigned to the unit, and will instead appear to be an address that it pulled via DHCP.
Thanks, in advance, for any help and insight into this strange problem.
    David

Ah.  In that case, we're not going to put our client through the frustration of chasing a ghost in the machine.  We'll just replace them with new ones.  But, I'll try this on them in my spare time and let you know how it goes.
    Thanks for your assistance,
    David

  • 1142 Autonomous AP not passing DHCP address to clients

    Hi there,
I do hope someone can help me out here because I am having a nightmare with a single AP.
    Setup is as follows:
5 existing APs already on site, all working correctly plugged into a 48 port 2960, (non poe).
customer wants to add another AP to extend capacity.
Installed AP, (config attached) mirrored switchport settings, (below) and fired it up.
Outcome: if you are on a static IP or have received DHCP through another AP then everything works as it should. But DHCP requests are never fulfilled if connected through this AP. (this goes also for a laptop with an existing DHCP address if you go through the \release \renew process) DHCP is served by a server living on the switch.
The AP lives on VLAN 2, hence native .2 on both ends, and wireless clients should recieve a VLAN 1 address. All the other APs, (1131s) are working without a problem and this is driving me NUTS! Have been through configs and every screen of the GUI but cant find any difference in set up. Apart from different AP models the new one is on a pwrinj4 while the others are on pwrinj3's.

    Hi Scott,
Yes, the only difference is as this is a 1142 I was instructed to put it onto one fo the Gb ports. I tried the Ap on a known working port to rule out switch config to no effect.
Here is the extended switch config:

Not sure about the spanning tree settings on the others: I didnt set those up and am a great believer in the "if it aint broke, dont fix it" maxim!

  • Will the 2504 WLC internal DHCP give IP addresses to clients?

Is there a way to configure the 2504 WLC so that its internal DHCP only services the LAPs?
I don't want the controller to give out IP addressed to wireless clients.
    Thanks

    No.
DHCP on the WLC is never intended to offer DHCP services to any "wired" side devices, which includes your APs.  These DHCP pools are specifically to hand addresses out to wireless clients attached to WLANs of the specific WLC it is configured on.  Even then, unless you absolutely cannot offer DHCP somewhere else, DHCP on the WLC is not a suggested practice.

  • DHCP giving out incorrect DNS server information

Migrated my ONLY DHCP server from a 2k3 server to a new 2k8 server and I cannot figure out why it wont give out the correct DNS server settings.
Here is what I have tried so far:
Stopped service on the old DHCP server and forced a /release /renew on the workstation.
Stopped service on both DHCP servers to see if there is some other DHCP server, computers wouldn't get any IPs.
If I setup a reservation for the workstation it will give out the CORRECT DNS settings.
Ran a GPO Policy result for the user and computer I'm testing and no IP configuration is configured at all for any GPO.
    Other Information:
    Only have 1 scope setup.
When I run a ipconfig /all it does show the DHCP server as the correct one (new server).
This problem was happening on the old server as well, I thought maybe migrating to a newer server would help but I'm getting the exact same results.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
We can perform a network capture on the client. It will show the process of the DHCP.
Please check the DHCP offer message sent by the DHCP server and the DHCP request message sent by the client.
Make sure that the server gives the right DHCP setting.
If the server is giving the right setting, it should be a client issue. Please check the event log of the DHCP client.
If the server is giving  the wrong setting, it should be a sever issue. Please check the configuration of the DHCP sever.

  • I don't understand the thing you call live bookmarks never used it, and most forums I have used notify VIA E-mail not giving out my E-mail address information when a reply has been made to the thread in question.

So how do I get notified of updates in this forum? As I said: I don't understand the thing you call LIVE BOOKMARKS I have never used them, and most forums I have used notify VIA E-mail not giving out my E-mail address, or other private information when a reply has been made to the thread in question, so how do I get notified of updates in this forum? I have seen no normal options for setting my viewing preferences used for this forum. Thank You.

    Xeon 8 core - E5.1680v2

I read that the CPU is easy to swap out but am sure something goes wrong at a certain point - even if solderedon they make material to absorb the solder, making your work area VERY clean.
My Question now is this, get an 8 core, then replace with 2 3.7 QUAD CHIPS, what would happen?
I also noticed that the 8 core Mac Pro is 3.0 when in fact they do have a 3.4 8 core chip, so 2 =16? Or if correct, wouldn't you be able to replace a QUAD CHIP WITH THAT?  I;M SURE THEY ARE UO TO SOMETHING AS 1) WE HAVE SEEN NO AUDIO FPU OR PERHAPS I SHOULD CHECK OUT PC MAKERS WINDOWS machines for Sisoft Sandra "B-E-N-C-H-M-A-R-K-S" -

Would rather wait and have it done correct than released to early only to have it benchmarked in audio and found to be slower in a few areas- - - the logical part of my brain is wondering what else I would have to swap out as I am sure it would run, and fine for a while, then, poof....
