DI Job servers were terminated randomly on HPUX

Hi there,
I have a strange problem with a DI 11.5.3 on an HPUX PA-RISC server. There are 21 Job servers with each there are 4 or 5 repositories attached. Every couple of days, 1 or 2 Job servers are misteriously terminated. The servers crashed seem to be random, ie could be Job server 1 yesterday, and Job server 21 today. And it could be a Job server that is running a batch job, or one without running any job at all. Sometimes there is a core dump but sometimes there is none.
The HP box is an extremely powerful server with plenty of CPUs and memory. After monitoring the system closely with Glance, I found out that Job servers tend to crash when the disk utilization stays 100% for a long time which may be caused by some long running database scripts. It won't happen immediately, but more Job servers start to fail the longer this happens. For example, one Job server may fail 30 minutes after this happens, and another will fail after 2 hours. It's unpredicable when and what Job servers will crash. My question is why the Job server process is killed, not other application processes on the server? Is it killed by the OS or the DI background service? If OS, is it because they are of a lower priority or something else?

It's strange that there is no service_eventlog.txt file in $LINK_DIR\log. There is "error_JobService.log" but no error message was logged there for the crash occurred this morning (yes, it happened again). I did find the following lines in the "server_eventlog.txt" under the Job server directory which crashes.

From time to time, we have a need to identify all jobs that were running at a particular moment in time on a particular agent (we have about 800 agents)...eg "what was running ("Active") at 09:03:42 a.m. two days ago on agent XYZ?"
I've used other job schedulers, and have written queries to extract that info, but I thought before I work on one for Tidal that I would ask the community....how are you getting this info?

Server Group not working when one of Job Servers is down

I have a Server Group of two job servers. They have the same version 12.2.2.3 and are attached to the same Local Repository of version 12.2.2.0.
When I execute a batch job (from the Designer) and explicitly specify on which job server it should run, it works fine for either job server. Also, when I specify Batch Job execution on Server Group, it works fine.
However, when I shutdown one of the Job Servers, and then try to execute the job on Server Group, I'm getting two error messages, BODI-1111011 that one Job Server is down, and BODI-1111009 that another Job Server has failed.
At the same time, when I check the Server Group in the Management Console, it shows that the allegedly failed Job Server is in the status green.
That error is not reflected in a job server eveng log, nor there is anything written to webadmin log, not in the job trace (the latter isn't created at all).
Is there anything I can do at this point except raise a support message?

The issue was with different users for Local Repository in Admin and Job Server config. I discovered it when trying to run the job from Admin Console. Designer is probably not the best diagnostic tool for such kind of issues.

Scheduling,Email Setup in cluster environment and multiple job servers

Hello All,
I have to schedule and email instances of crystal reports to users in PDF and excel format. A Clustered environment of Business Objects 3.1 SP3 is been setup on 2 servers. There is 2 instances of crystal reports Job server been created.
My question is If there are multiple instances of job servers then should we have to configure mail settings on both instances of job server or not?
And secondly, in cluster environment the email settings and scheduling of the reports should be setup on both CMS servers( CMS server 1 and CMS server 2) or should CMS server 1 should be enough?

You have a couple of options here.
1. You can either set up email on all of the job servers on both CMS' in the cluster. This is actually the easiest to manage.
2. You can set up email on some of the job servers on one or the other CMS. However, at this point you would also have to set up a server group that contains the job servers that are set up for email, plus the RAS server - you might also have to include the Crystal Cache server and the Crystal Processing server. Then ALL of the reports that are sent via email would have to be scheduled run ONLY on the server group that contains the email-enabled job server(s).

SCCM 2007 R2 Query - Look for Win2k8 servers where Terminal Services is installed.

I have been looking all over the net. That's how it feels ;-D. I'm trying to a find out how to create a query that I can use in a SCCM Collection. This query should result in only Windows 2008 Servers where Terminal Services have been installed.
So far I have tried at least ten different ways of doing this. With no prevail. So I hope you guys can assist me.
1) Create a collection.
2) Create a query.
a. The query should only find Windows 2008 Server where Terminal Services is installed.
3) Then I can distribute only to these servers.

Hmm... Well, keeping in mind that from my point of view, there is no reason to not install the client on every box in the enterprise. What's the reason to not install the client? If there's a political reason, like those boxes belong to some other team who doesn't want you touching their servers, why are you responsible for ensuring Terminal Services is installed? Make *them* come up with an alternate method to confirm that.
Just deploy the client and move on.
I cannot think of a single way to determine if Terminal Services is installed without either the ConfigMgr Client installed, or a different administrative tool tell you that. Whether that other Admin tool is a remote script you design & run, or if you have some other tool available (would SCOM be able to be configured to report that? Maybe.), I have no suggestions for you other than logging into each server interactively and looking manually.
Which brings me full circle back to: just install the ConfigMgr client.
Slightly OT: once they have the client installed, you could then create a DCM Baseline so that you could run a report and see which ones might have 'drifted' from the approved configuration.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

Destination and publication job servers - missing

Hi the destination and publication job servers seem to be missing. I need them to setup "Publication via SNC with SAP BW." Am I OK to set them up as follows in CMC?
DESTINATION JOB SERVER - Service Category: Core Services, Service: Destination Delivery Scheduling Service
PUBLICATION JOB SERVER - Service Category: Core Services, Service: Publication Scheduling Service
Also, do I need to include any of the additional services when creating the servers?

Seems that it is correct.
But wondering, how come the servers are missing.
You can add those core services.
You can also check by creating new SIA node using CCM. You can try that too.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Max limit job servers with bods

Under Tools > options > job server > environment>
max number of engine processes= 8
what does that mean, does it mean this BODI can run 8 job servers parallell?
Are there a max limit of job servers?

Per your replay if I have a job that has 2 dataflows that run in parallel I should be able to see 3 processes being launched.
And on my linux sever using "ps -f -u myuser" I would see processes like:

Background Job " RDDVERSI" getting terminated

Hi gurus,
When we check in SM37, We are seeing a background job that is getting terminated. In the job log it says DATASET_NOT_OPEN, Job cancelled. It is trying to run "RDDVERSI" program.
It is creating a Dump in ST22 and when we check the Dump in ST22, it says "The file "/usr/sap/trans/tmp/D01V985854.P01" has not been opened".
I checked the log in the trans directory and it gives me following error. Path of the Log "usr/sap/trans/log/D01V985854.P01".

I think when it is trying to import a transport request, it is trying to create a version of it and it is not able to create that.
Can anybody help me in solving this problem?

Can you run this program in the foreground with a user that has the same permissions. If you get an authorization error again, check with transaction se53 on which objects you are missing authorization.
For these objects you can create an additional authorization profile...

SQL Server Job that were written in SSIS packages failed

could not load package files system because of error 0x80070002. Description: could not find file 'C:\program files\microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\. The package could not be loaded. The step failed. I found this error on one of my job configured in
ssis packages which take a view statement from my production server, which actually is in a cluster environment. Thank you guys

It's a little difficult to infer what could be happening without having an idea about what the package does. If you can share one or two screenshots of it, it would be great. You will need Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) for SQL 2008 or previous,
or SQL Data Tools if SQL 2012. Right click over the package in the file system and select "Edit".
In the meanwhile, let me give some ideas for troubleshooting:
If your servers are 64bits, be sure your SQL Agent Job step for the SSIS package is running also in 64bits.
Assuming your package basically takes data from the view and move it to other server, main of the workload should be at read time from the view. Try running the SQL statement that package is issuing and take the time. If the time is still less than
3 minutes, your package should have more logic/transformations doing other tasks that we will need to look in. If time is much more, maybe you have much more data in the view underlying tables.
If querying from the view is still so fast, we will need to understand what the package is doing after the initial read.

Mavericks: Emacs and Terminal randomly scroll / jump around (unwanted scrolling)

Both terminal and emacs just randomly jump around from time to time, often by a full viewing page or more. I assume this has something to do with "responsive scrolling" and the other scrolling bugs (mostly involving sudden failure to scroll) reported for other apps, but I haven't found discussion of this random jumping around / random scrolling problem.
To give more details: I'm on a new 15" macbook pro running Mavericks 10.9.1 (behavior in 10.9.0 was the same). Terminal is Version 2.4 (326). Emacs is gnu emacs from http://emacsformacosx.com/, version 24.3 (9.0), but it had the same behavior with a much older (2008) version of carbon emacs.
Anyone have any idea how to deal with this (other than "wait a year for Apple to fix things")?

No, this also happens for terminal, which is an Apple-supplied application (nothing to do with running emacs, I don't run emacs in the terminal). Also, I did re-install emacs, as I mentioned I'm currently using the latest stable version, but the 2008 version I had been using previously had exactly the same behavior.

In the above example, as the both 10.240.160.33 and 10.240.160.32 are wired and they are in same VLAN, their multicast packets reach each other even though AirGroup is there.
So they are acting as sleep proxy server for each other. However, It should not cause any issue for mirroring application. When user selects a ATV(Confern-room-6/ios200-2) from his iPad for mirroring, it should be getting displayed on the ATV which ever he has chosen.

Incremental Cube Load Error: job slave process terminated

Hi,
For performance reasons, we switched to Incremental Cube Loading i.e. only those partitions are autosolved whose data is made available.
Some times, the background submitted job terminates and the reason given in dba_scheduler_job_run_details is:
REASON="Job slave process was terminated"
There so no definits occurance pattren for this error.
The job submitted in background is killed.
The last entry the xml_load_log displayed is of Started Auto solving of a partition.
After this error occurs, we have to Full Aggregate the cube; which offcourse would autosolve all partitions.
We have been too much annoyed by this error as we did lot of package changes as part of a release to production to include Incremental cube loading, and once done, we see that incremental cube loading just terminates while autosolving a partitions.
Can any one assist please? Urgent?

How can I recover my notes that were deleted randomly on my phone?

Hello, I am having a problem with my white iPhone 5C, running on 8.1. The problem is, earlier around midnight or 12:30 am, I went to go insert a new note and when I went into the app, all my notes were deleted or missing. I haven't had them synced with any of my email accounts. I'm very frustrated since I had very important information in my notes section. I can do an restore from 9/17/14, but that's big of a gap and won't have any of my important information. I can do an iCloud backup that was recently backed up since 11/30/14,, but iTunes isn't allowing me to choose the iCloud backup from 11/30/14. Please help, I want to fix this and I need this information ASAP. Thank you!
PS. This is into the default notes app that was included on iPhone.

Now we're getting somewhere. The ! is an indication that the file path/link between the thumbnails and original files has been broken. In that case try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:

Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
