Dialog Boxes in TestStand Seq Editor Scroll

I am relatively new to TestStand and I have a question. I noticed that the drop-down dialog boxes in TestStand only drop one item and then force you to scroll through all the options using tiny arrows. Is there any way to make these dialog boxes drop down the way they would in a normal program (show all options). This is worse than Microsoft's "personalized menus" option.

I am running Windows XP on my end, and the combo boxes work as expected. When you click the arrow, all of the options are listed. I'm sorry again for the inconvenience!

Webcam Signature Dialog Box is Too Big

Hi, I have a question about the webcam signature feature. It seems like the dialog box is way too big for my screen, as you can see on the screenshot (below) I can't scroll down and accept the webcam shot. I changed the resolution on my computer (I'm using windows 8.1) and that didn't work. Is there a where that I can make the dialog box smaller?

Seq editor E box?

Very simple question but I recently installed Test stand 2013 and every time I run a sequence I get this dialog box in the corner. Seq Editor E(lapsed timer?) cant resize cant close and generally its in the way. How do I turn this off?

Looking at the bottom of the Sequence Editor window, it looks like the model is called "TestStandModel.seq", which lends credence to the idea that this is a custom model (we do not provide a built-in model with that name). Also, it looks like the name of the dialog box is being cut off--I bet if you resize it with your mouse, you'll see a more complete name for the box. It looks like some kind of execution monitor window.
This is almost certainly a process model customization, and could likely be disabled by editing the process model to skip or remove the steps which display the dialog. If you'd like to look through the process model and try to find the relevant code, you can just double-click the text at the bottom that says "TestStandModel.seq" to open the process model.
Also, if you obtained the model from another developer at your company, it might be worth talking to that person to get more insight on why the dialog exists or how you might disable it for your testing.

In the expression editor dialog box my TAB key doesn't function correctly

This is bizarre behavior that seems to have started recently.
In Visual Studio 2012, an SSRS project, any expression editor dialog:
The tab key doesn't work right.
Open the expression editor and:
* I see a blinking cursor and I can type in the expression box.
* If I hit the tab key, the cursor disappears and I cannot type. I appear to lose focus in the editor but focus doesn't appear to go anywhere else in the dialog box.
* If I hit the tab key a 2nd time, the cursor is still gone and I cannot type.
* If I hit the tab key a 3rd time, I can finally type again and note that I am now
3 tabstops in. In other words it seems like the tabs were working but I lost the ability to type anything until I "tab" 3 magical times.
I can work around this by hitting tab key then grabbing the mouse and clicking where the cursor SHOULD be which returns focus to the text area.

According to your description, as you said that the cursor disappears and cannot type issue. It seems that the issue may be not Visual Studio the VS IDE issue.

Enable "scrolling preview" behind the Crop Pages dialog box in Acrobat 9 ?

Hi everyone,
I want to be able to preview the crop marks (when you click on "Document" and choose "Crop Pages" or Shift+Ctrl+T) before actually cropping all the pages of my documents. When the crop tool dialog box is showing, you can see behind it the crop marks that look like guides. In Acrobat 5, you could scroll the pages even with the crop tool box showing in front of your pages. This way, you could see the crop marks or "guides" on all the pages. But, in version 9, when the crop box is showing, you can only see the crop marks on the page(s) you're working on. You can't scroll behind the box to see what the others pages look like with the crop marks. I've uploaded print screens to make myself a bit more clear (Acrobat 5 vs Acrobat 9) :

Can somebody please help me? Nothing I do seems to open up the "crop dialog box".
I start with Edit > Edit Text & Images. Then, I click the crop symbol, and set the ranges of my desired crop. Then I want to apply this crop, but nothing works.
I've tried:
     - Double Clicking Inside the selected crop-box
     - Double Clicking Outside the selected crop-box
     - Triple Clicking
     - Quadruple Clicking
     - CTRL-SHIFT-T
     - Hitting Enter
     - Right clicking
     - Searching endlessly for some sort of button pertaining to "apply crop", to no avail.
     - Changing to different PDF type (scanned, instead of text-to-pdf) and trying again
     - Yelling
     - Punching
     - Crying
None of the afforementioned seems to work.
Help please?

Dropdownbox scroll bar closes the dialog box

All,
I have a dialog box and a matrix layout with some controls inside of it.
I have set autoClose = true in the dialog box so that if I click away I would close it
my matrix layout has a dropdownbox. if I click on the scroll bar, then it closes my dialog box. if I use the mouse wheel, it stays open. is this a bug or is there a work around to this? this happens every time I click on the vertical scroll bar
Similarly, if I have a date picker and I click on the datepicker to open the calendar, then the dialog closes. this event only closes the dialog the first time. if I open the dialog and click on the date picker then it works fine.

Hi Sergio,
It could be that the the Dialog somehow interprets the click event to happen outside the Dialog and thus closes it. Try to bind event listener to controls in the Dialog and then in that event handler call evt.stopImmediatePropagation() and evt.preventDefault(). Example:
"datePicker".bind("click", jQuery.proxy(function(event) {
event.stopImmediatePropagation();
event.preventDefault();
}, this));
I think I could reproduce your problem with DatePicker in Firefox but not in Chrome. With Dropdown I couldn't reproduce it. Here's a jsbin explaining it:

Suppress default editor dialog box

Is there any way to suppress default editor dialog box that comes at 1st launch of Dreamweaver CS5. I need to automate some stuff and cant figure out how to handle it.
I cannot attach screenshot of this dialog box here, but it says that "Dreamweaver CS5 will set itself as Default editor for the following file types:" and gives option as jsp, asp, css etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

There is no way to do this that meets the ToS on this board (as Verizon wants everyone to be at the same software level for a particular phone model). Search forums other than this one and the Motorola one for the information you need.

Scroll Bars Missing In New Item Dialog Box When Accessing Other Site Collection

I have run into a problem I am hoping someone can quickly inform me of what I am doing wrong. I am creating 2 hyperlinks on a page that will create new items in one of 2 separate lists (1 on each site collection). I tried using the same code in my CEWP for
each and encountered a funky issue, whenever I access a different site collection with the below code the dialog box says DIALOG for the title and there are no vertical scroll bars. Does anyone know how to tweak the below code (or improve it) to bring back
the scroll bars for the dialog box?

NetBeans SetAction Dialog box - can't customize with default editor

I'm new to this so be patient....thanks..
I used NetBeans IDE to create a basic jpanel that has a jfilechooser and three functional buttons of my own. I want one of the buttons to run a background task. According to the Neteans SetAction documentation, I should be able to go to the properties of the component (various ways), then click on the elipses (...) for action for the button, then edit the action to make it a background task. I was hoping to use the default editor wizard to make this button launch a background task.
When I select the elipses for action (pulling up the SetAction Dialog box) I get the message that "Custom Editing of This Property is not Supported"
Any ideas? This inability exits on other panels/buttons I have created in experimenting to solve this problem. Is there a global setting in NetBeans IDE that turns on/off custom editing of functions using default editor?
Ultimately I want this actionPerformed to run in the background (I'm assuming this must implement SwingWorker??)....attempts at coding up the actionPerformed method to use SwingWorker to run the actionPerformed method haven't worked for me (yet). If I can get the IDE editor to do this for me I won't have to figure this part out.

Editor, title, dialog box, position

when i encounter an ora-xxxx error msg, a dialog box appears normally;
but the title of the box appears nearly 5 pixel over where it must be displayed.
how strange? what is the reason? i would like to paste an image, unfortunately
i can not provide one.

I have noticed the same thing - I think the problem is that they are including a trailing line break character and therefore think that the error message is two lines high, rather than just one.

Vinzent is correct in stating that this dialog is displayed via a step in the Process Model. However, you don't need to directly modify the step in the Process Model sequence file. The "test result dialog box" is actually displayed in the Post UUT callback sequence of the Process Model. Rather than directly modifying the Process Model sequence file, the better way to approach this would be to override the Post UUT callback in your test sequence file.
Please post back in this thread if you have any questions as to how you might implement this approach.

I would like to replace the file dialog box with a programmable dialog box, that generates its selections from Database Information

Where would be the best place to achieve this?
I have been thinking about these options:
- Modification of the Operator Interface.
- Modification of the Sequence Model.
- Use callbacks to modify the sequence model.
- Use callbacks to modify the Engine (ie the Auto.seq example)
Or combinations of the above.
The biggest requirement I have in developing this project is in the reuse of code and I believe that callbacks in the seq would be the way to achieve this.
But I am not familiar with the usage of callbacks in teststand (yet) and I don't know where to look for information/examples on what I can do with them.
Has anybody done anythin
g similar?

I am trying to replace the operators interface's sequence file dialog box. I am also trying to hide the standard operators interface.
What I am after is to replicate a user experience!
Teststand is being used to replace an ATE written in LV where each of the tests are hardcoded in. The user selected the product and test types from a button based dialog boxes.
I am using TS to overcome all of the limitations of the original ATE, but one of the requirements is the system has to have the same look and feel of the original.
I originally though that I would have to modify an operators interface, but I would prefer not too, and would rather change the process models and use engine and station callbacks.
If I have to change an operatos interface, I would pre
fer if the changes didn't affect the normal running of standard TS sequences.
I have attached the process model, i am trying to achieve, (its in Visio).

How do I configure my custom step type to call its Express VI configuration dialog box each time I double click the step?

By double clicking on a step in the TestStand Sequence Editor the Properties dialog box pops up.
How to change this behaviour?
I would like to configure my step type so that each time I double click the step, the Express VI configuration dialog box pops up, instead of the properties.
One Idea is to use custom activeX substeps, for example, Antonio Lie mentioned the substep "OnNewStep" in my last post. Is there also a "OnDoubleClick"?
Does anyone know a list of activeX substep that can be used? Or are there other ideas?

1. Currently it is not possible to change the behavior for double clicking on a step. It is a good idea though, and we will be consider to add it to the next versions of TestStand.
2. "OnNewStep" is the only "special" substep. It was implemented for internal use and it is not documented yet.
3. If you want to know more about substeps you can red the Reference Manual, Chapter 13 is a good place to start.
4. I want to make clear that "OnNewStep" is called every time you insert a new step. The sequnce editor gets the substeps list and if it finds the "OnNewStep" substep in the list It calls it using the API. The substep can use any adapter type, It does not have to be the ActiveX adapter.
