Dialogue Box Position

When I "Save As" or "Open" in PS, AI, and ID in CS6 the dialogue box will often position itself off my display, making it impossible to fill in the fields and forcing me to mess with my displays resolution to get the box where I can deal with it

If I recall correctly
There are a number of ways that one can set up PPRO windows and panes in a two monitor rig and one of the ways created the issue of the dialogue box centering on the two screens.
I think it was when the app was "streched" to fill both  monitors and the panes re arranged inside the entirety.
My  2 monitor rigs use panes broken out of the main screen and positioned across the 2.

  • No Dialogue box in bridge CS2

Im currently learning about bridge using the CS2 version, and some tasks that I need to perform require a dialogue box on the bottom right hand corner where you can change things about the image-I think its the 'adjust' tab but it doesnt appear.
Do you know any possible reason why or how I can get this tab up? Thanks.

    Sorry, Ill expand.
Its Mac OS/X Leopard. Running Adobe CS3. When I try and print a photo from Adobe CS3, I go to file print which displays a dialogue box (Titled Print). This dialogue box displays many print options e.g. size and orientation , position on the page etc but not a facility i.e dialogue box to select the paper type as an example e.g photo glossy , photo matt etc. These options are available from many of the other programs such as Pages and Easy Print and various other applications. Indeed I can take a photo from CS3 , convert to tiff as an example and print using these options from Easy Print. I would however like to access the full printer settings from CS3. I think this issue has been seen before in the professional range of printers.
I have spoken to Epson who say their printer and driver is fine as all the facilities work from other apps.
Adobe support said CS3 didnt support the preferences but to try a forum to see how people get round it. Hence here I am!
It is very strange that a photo application as advanced as CS3 wont let me choose a paper type for a semi professional printer like the Epson R2880.

  • Is it possible to control/save where a dialogue box appears on screen?

I'm using a Mac, OS 10.9, Acrobat 10.1.8, dual monitors (laptop screen and an external monitor)
I have to do a lot of scanning to PDF and then separating and creating carefully named files. So I open the doc, select the pages, export them out and do a Save As - is there a way to position and lock this Save As dialogue box?
It always appears in the center of the screen - which happens to be where the document has the info that I need to name this new file. So I have to move the Save As box and then type the file name. I want to skip needing to use the mouse and moving this.
Seemed like on the PC when I was doing this same thing, I could "train" the dialogue box to appear on the opposite screen. Or it would appear in the same place that I'd closed it before (off to the side somewhere).
Opposite screen, stuck to the top of the same screen - some place other than where it's appearing right now. Anyone know if this is an option? Either within Acrobat or within the OS itself?
    Thanks much!

    Ben,
Yes, it is easily possible. I have personally used Matrix Orbital serial LCD displays and QSI serial LCD displays. QSI also offers touch screen modules (I experimented with one very briefly). For information on a QSI Display with touchpad, see the following link:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/explprog.nsf/6c163603265406328625682a006ed37d/afec7c774f0edb3d86256c1a006728de?OpenDocument
QSI (www.qsicorp.com) also offers other types of displays that have been successfully used with FP-RT controllers. There should be other LabVIEW drivers available from their web site for some of their other displays.

  • Dialogue box critique

    Hi all,
I've been trying (in vain) to create a good dialogue box that does some bounds checking on user inputs before allowing them to be sent to the main application. Ideally, when an input is out of range, it'll blink until it gets put into range. Generally this means that bounds can only be positive (nonzero, nonnegative numbers) and that VISA resources cannot be left blank. Additionally, the difference between two of them must be bigger than or equal to 40(Range Max - Range Min >= 40). Normally, my code is pretty modular, but I think this being my first real foray into UI design has left me struggling to make things look and work nicely. I've posted the VIs thus far for critique.
I've described how it should work. As to how it's actually working, I've noticed that whenever I have two things that are out of range, and I fix one, the OK button is no longer blocked. I think this may have to do with how my events are set up, but can't be sure. What do you think? How can I make this better? Am I missing something fundamental in my design layout?
    thanks,

Range Min and Range Max need to be set exactly by the user, so while I do like the idea behind the slider, I think it would just end up cluttering the dialogue while not adding much. Could you explain the "Abort VI" suggestion a little more? Also, what do you mean by using shift registers? Would that be used for just reading new values, or what?
So you make them "Coerced" as well, force them to be done first (by making only Min visible, using Min's value to set the Min for Max, making Max visible, then using Max and Min's value to set the other Range Control and make it Visible).  Once you have the range set, make Min and Max invisible.  By doing this, you gently lead the user by the nose through the correct steps.
Here is a Snippet of (some of) the rest of your question.  This picture can be "dragged" onto a blank Block Diagram and it will magically become LabVIEW code.
    Here are points to note:
Following Standard NI Practice, Error In and Error Out are present.
The Invoke node to reset Constants to its default value comes next.
The (now default) Constant is brought into the While/Event loop on a shift register.
In a frame that you don't see, the Weight-changed Event is used in a Bundle-by-Name to change the Weight on the wire in the Shift Register, thereby storing the new value.
This shows what happens when Cancel is pushed.  First, we generate Error 5001, with the Error Message "User Cancelled!".  Then we exit the While loop by setting the Stop Indicator to True.  It is the User's responsibility to check if there is an Error present on the Error Line (wire the Error line to a Case Statement selector) and take appropriate action (but, please, not Abort VI).
The OK case is identical to this except there is no Error Cluster.

  • NO PRINTER PREFERENCES DIALOGUE BOX IN CS3 FOR EPSON R2880

I am running CS3 on a mac OS X and have just bought an Epson printer R2880. I cannot get any dialogue box up that will give me any printer options other than the basic print size, orientation and position on the paper. My only solution so far is to Copy & Paste into Pages where I can access a few more options & get reasonable prints. Has anyone found a way round this ?

Found this fix here which worked for me with a similar problem.

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Reboot and see if all is well.

  • Eclipse blank grey dialogue box on startup, fixed with rm of workspace

    Hello,
I wanted to get coding today, but.... eclipse isn't starting up like it usually does. The splash screen pops up, it asks where I want my workspace folder, and then a small grey dialogue box pops up. It will never exit on it's own, pressing close does nothing, I have to kill it.
I tried running eclipse in a terminal in the hope it complained about a library error or something, but it's silent, it doesn't say anything back to me when run in a terminal. I'm not sure what other info to give you. It was working yesterday, and today it's not opening. I just shut down my computer after that day and started it up the next and it didn't work. So I removed the .eclipse folder in the hope that would clear some temporary data that was causing it, nothing.
I eventually moved my workspace and let it start fresh, it worked. Unfortunately, I need those files. Can I import the folder to fix this issue? How can I?

    thurisaz wrote:
I'm experiencing the same problem. Additionally the whole update configuration seems to be damaged. There are no update sites listed anymore (I had quite many).
Furthermore I'm having some other problems (Eclipse icon seems to be missing, Saros plug-in and Gnome Battery Applet doesn't work anymore, no wallpaper on desktop) which all appeard after my update yesterday. Eclipse was updated too.
The following error messages are displayed when I start eclipse via terminal:
    (Eclipse:8741): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed
    (Eclipse:8741): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion `GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed
    (Eclipse:8741): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_window_resize: assertion `width > 0' failed
    gdk-pixbuf2 was updated too.
In the update log I found this message regarding gdk-pixbuf2:
    [2011-06-30 22:58] g_module_open() failed for /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-gif.so: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-gif.so)
(more error messages follow which name the other libpixbufloader-*.so libraries.)
I can't open images anymore because the programs can not recognize the image format.
Therefore this seems to be a problem with gdk-pixbuf2. At least for me. Don't know how to fix this. Will try to downgrade gdk-pixbuf2. Will post results.
EDIT: Yup, that did the trick. At least for all the image related stuff. Eclipse starts fine now, I can see the wallpaper and the battery applet is working now.
Eclipse plug-ins are still messed-up but that's worth a separate topic.
EDIT2: I still can't figure out how that gdk-pixbuf stuff could make eclipse "forget" about the workspace.
Do you know what version last worked? How should I downgrade?

  • Can't bookmark certain web pages. I press Ctrl-D and the "Bookmark this page" dialogue box does not appear.

For example: If I open the home page of The New York Times and press Cntrl-D, the bookmark dialogue box appears but pressing "done" has no effect, the bookmark is not saved. If I go to a page with a particular article, then the bookmark function does not even appear. At first i thought this had something to do with the web site, but that isn't the problem. I just can't bookmark anything. On some pages the dialogue box appears and on others it doesn't, but the result is the same everywhere: zilch.
And here is something really strange: when i press Cntrl-D on the Firefox start page, the bookmark dialogue box appears with "Board of Education" in the page title field. What is ''that'' all about?
I have tried all manner of fixes: deleting "places.sqlite" and "localstore.rdf" files, operating in "safe mode", disabling add-ons, re-installing Firefox, etc. etc.. Nothing seems to work. I am running the latest version of Zone Alarm Security Suite. It has an advanced browser security function that includes virtualization. I tried disabling the browser security option, but this did not solve the problem, although I still suspect that Zone Alarm could be the culprit somehow (it often is). \
Any and all ideas will be welcome as I am fresh out.

The problem with bookmarking (which I thought I had eliminated with a clean reinstall) has returned after a Firefox update.
    Checked out /questions/743526.
A scan with Malwarebytes did not detect any malware. Not in normal mode, not in safe mode.
And look at the solutions offered by st4dog and jimcou: they each deleted different registry values to get rid of XULRunner.
My problem remains as it was: I don't want to mess with my registry unless I know ''exactly'' what I am looking for (deleting). At least my PC is running, and scans with Malwarebytes, SpyBot SD, Pest Patrol and Zone Alarm AV reveal no infections. If I screw up the registry I think I'll be in a lot worse shape.
Again, until I have ''specific'' instructions on how to get rid of this thing I guess I'll just have to be content with using IE if I want to do any bookmarking.
Thanks for the reference. I do appreciate all of your - and other user's - help in trying to solve this problem.

  • Save Password Dialogue Box Not Displaying

I am seeing behavior that suggests that the dialogue box for saving passwords is invisible:
    * I can frequently see the outline of a box where the dialogue box would be
    * On a couple of occassions, the dialogue box would appear for a few seconds before disappearing - I was once even able to save it
    * On sites where I enter a password, hyperlinks are not recognized in the area where the save password dialogue would normally appear - it's as if the window is there but not visible.
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
Private Browsing is Off. Save passwords is checked.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
*Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Authentication dialogue box not displaying properly in 10.6.5

I've updated to 10.6.5 last night. Everything seems to work just fine except for the authentication dialogue box. All letters turn out to be capital A's in boxes. Authentication itself still works, but the improper displaying of characters just bugs me. Does anyone have that problem? Thanks guys!

Wow thanks! It wasn't a 10.6.5 bug after all. I downloaded a Leopard UI set, and thought it would be nice to include the Lucida fonts in my OS. I didn't see the fonts in the fonts folder, but it turned out that they were there and I just duplicated them. Thanks

  • Removing the "Security Warning" dialogue box on default when a PDF is opened

    Hey
I have created a pdf document with a specific data written using iText Libraries. I have actually created a beacon that generates a notification sent to the owner's email when the pdf is opened.
The code is under OpenAction. The problem I am facing is that as I open the document, a dialogue box is opened saying "Security Warning" The document is trying to connect to : URL. How do I get rid of this dialogue box. ? I don't want this dialogue box to appear and allow the connection by default. I have tried playing with the Trust Manager - but that doesn't seem to be the solution, as  am trying to execute my PDF document at a remote machine.

There was a lot of media fuss years back when it was found out that PDF files could "phone home", i.e. do what you want to do. So Adobe put this warning in. It wouldn't be much good as a warning if the creator of a PDF could choose to turn it off!
Document creators like to track people opening documents. Privacy advocates consider this a breach of privacy. The latter group shouts louder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoning_home

  • REGISTRATION UNSUCCESFUL DIALOGUE BOX WON'T GO AWAY

I am running Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard under Windows 8.1 running on a new Lenovo laptop, which I bought when my old Vista laptop stopped running.  Whenever I start up Acrobat, a dialogue box appears headed "Registration unsuccesful." Beneath that there is an error message saying "A problem was encountered while trying to send information over the Internet."  If I simply close the dialogue box, and later shut down Acrobat, the dialogue box simply reappears the next time I start up Acrobat.
The dialogue box has three radio buttons, one for each of three options.  The first option is "Try submitting the online registration again".  Selecting that option has no effect - the dialogue window flashes for a moment and then returns to normal.  The second options is "Register later (you will have to fill out the registration form again".  Selecting that option makes the dialogue box close, but if I then shut down Acrobat and re-open it,  the dialogue box appears again almost immediately.  The third option is "Never register".  If I select that option, the effect is similar to that for the second option - that is, the dialogue box closes, but shutting down and re-opening Acrobat causes the same dialogue box to reappear almost immediately.
This is very frustrating and irritating!  What can I do to stop the dialogue box reappearing?  I should like to register, but whenever I go to the Help menu and select "Registration..." the same dialogue box appears, and behaves in the same way.  Could this be connected to the fact that I first registered Acrobat 8 from my old Vista machine, which is no longer working?  Is is relevant that my copy of Acrobat, which originally came with my Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner, comprises Acrobat 6 on CD and an upgrade to Acrobat 8 Standard on another CD?  I never had any trouble on my old Vista machine, which I can no longer get to start up properly (so I cannot remove Acrobat from that machine).

Just a small correction: my "old Vista machine" had, as I now belatedly remember, been upgraded to Windows 7.  My copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard ran without any registration problems under both Vista and Windows 7.

  • While trying to open Firefox, the dialogue box says another version is open and I'm unable to open any version

I am running Mac OSX 10.6.6. After running Firefox with no problem, it now won't open. When I attempt to open Firefox a "Close Firefox" dialogue box says " A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time".
I searched my computer, threw out all firefox related items and when I download a new Firefox App. the same dialogue box still appears. How can I find the hidden application, close it and successfully open Firefox?
