Dif between Proxy and Adaptor

hi friends,
i know that SAP 4.7EE onwards SAP is supporting WAS hence no need of using any Adaptor instead we can use Proxy.  I know that both proxy and adaptor are 3rd party tool but
1)what exactly is the difference between these two?
is it something like when we want to integrate with SAP system, we will be using PROXY and if it is a NONSAP system we will be using Adaptor.  Plz clarify me, and if any other difference are there plz let me know.
tnx in advance
vijaylaxmi

Hi
Proxies can be used from WAS 620 or above.
Proxies is another mode of communication from SAP to external environment and vice versa:
<i>Proxies encapsulate the creation or parsing of XML messages and the communication with the relevant runtime components required to send or receive the messages.</i>
Proxies can be used to interact with SAP system using ABAP Proxy and non-SAP system using Java Proxy.

Vijaya

  • Alright understand the dif between forms and designer...but

alright understand the difference between forms and designer...but I learned forms 6i and reports 6i and want to work in the industry under designer 6i. can i do this? would going into designer 6i be difficult with forms 6i/pl/sql experience??

Its a different tool with a different type of development.
You can take an Oracle Designer course or read the docs and start learning.

  • Easily switch between proxy and no proxy

I am looking for an easy way to swithc between using a proxy server (at work) and a direct connection (at home).   I used to use a script that ran a sed on a bunch of configuration files to switch their network settings, but it would be much easier to point them all at something running locally and only need to change that.  Any ideas?

I'm trying to do exactly the same.  I've got it set up using squid, but I'm having issues with ports other than http. I've posted my problem along with my config files at http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96471, so you can copy them to use as a starting point.  The way mine works at the moment is I've set up squid and iptables so that an app, e.g. firefox, sees it as a direct connection regardless of where I am. At work I simply start the squid and iptables services, and at home I stop them.

  • Security between Proxy and Business Services

    Dear All
We are trying to restrict business service access only through proxy services. Will outbound security using service accounts can do this task? I enabled basic authentication at business service level and tried to pass username/password token through soap header in proxy service. I get "The invocation resulted in an error: Unauthorized." error.
Please suggest if this is the correct approach.
    Thanks,
    Amjad.

I'm affraid you didn't get the very basic meaning of business service.
    >
I want BS1 to be accessed only through PS1 and hence need to secure BS1.
    >
    1. You don't need to secure BS because of this reason since every BS can be accessed only through PS. There is no way you can call BS outside of OSB. BS is just a definition of external (business) service.
    2. Authentication set on BS is not meant to restrict access to BS itself. It is set to use credentials to access some service from OSB (WS1 in your case).
    >
When BS1 is directly accessed through OSB console, I get "The invocation resulted in an error: Unauthorized".
    >
This is only a testing form. Again, there is no chance you could call BS outside of OSB. On top of that, if you test BS which has pass-through account set, the test fails as there are no credentials to be passed to BS from PS as there was no PS called.
I suggest you go back to OSB basics:

  • Capture http traffic between server and proxy

    Hi,
I am not a solaris admin so I need some help to capture http traffic between proxy and server.
I used 'snoop port 80' on my proxy server but this command gives me the traffic between client and proxy.
PS: i do not have access to remote server.
    Thanks
    Linda

    You probably need this instead:
    snoop host server
where server is the hostname of the server that you are trying to connect to.
If you have multiple interfaces, you have to be sure you are snooping on the right interface.

  • What is the Difference Between Adapter and Proxy

    Hi Master,
I want to know the Difference Between Adapters and Proxies.
And when we are using proxies and Adapters....
    Regards,
    SReddy

Adapters are part of the Adapter Framework. Adapters provide the technical connectivity to enable the integration of SAP and non-SAP applications through XI’s Integration Engine.Again, Adapters are used for connectivity from and to external systems with XI that cannot communicate via proxies.Adapters are only required in SAP systems older than 6.20 and external systems.
Systems based on 6.20or higher can communicate directly with proxies.
The literal definition of a proxy is an object / process authorized to act for another; an agent or a substitute. In simpler terms, proxies in the XI context are objects used to encapsulate the creation (from a sender system) or parsing of XML (at a receiver system) as well as the communication with the relevant runtime components required to send or receive those messages.
Proxies are generated from Message Interface in IR.
The Proxy Runtime controls these objects / processes, and can itself be controlled by the applications it communicates with. The Proxy Runtime currently has the following components available: 1. ABAP Proxy Runtime – Communication using XI or Web Services a. Web Service Runtime 2. Java Proxy Runtime – Communication using XI (J2EE) The objects that the Proxy Runtime then controls are created via Proxy Generation, for both ABAP and Java. In the following sections a ‘client’ proxy is used by an application to send messages outside of the system it resides in (normally to the IS in this context). Conversely, a ‘server’ proxy is used by an application to receive messages from sources outside itself (again, normally the IS in this context).

  • ABAP Proxy connection Between PI and SRM for XMLs

    Hello Experts,
We are trying to set up ABAP proxy connection between PI 7.1 and SRM so we can send XML from SRM into PI.
Our SRM developer is getting an SLD error (below) and seems like something is not set up right in the SLD. Could you help me out with any kind of blog/documention on setting up an ABAP proxy connection between PI and an ABAP system. Something that talks about what steps we need to take in PI and SRM.

Thanks all for a quick reply. I also had to take following step to achieve the task.
adding the XI system to the SRM config - SRM Server -->

  • Differences  between webservice and proxy

    Hi guys.
Which are the differences between webservices and proxys?
If I have a XI adapter (proxy) or Soap Adapter in Pi in both a Proxy Abap is created in SEECC to consume the service so I cant see the differences...
    Regards

If I wanted to consume a webservice exposed in Pi by a Sender SOAP Sender, what would I have to do?
Nothing exceptional.....just define a message structure in PI....create a message interface....generate a WSDL for this Message Interface.....use the URL from this WSDL to send message.....it is a normal SOAP --> XI scenario.....many references are readily available on How to do this.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

AccountManagerBS – is configured with end point URL to interface with back-end system.
AccountManagerProxy – includes a ‘Route to’ action for linking to AccountManagerBS as given below
The performance monitoring is enabled at AccountManagerProxy and AccountManagerBS level.
Test Scenario: - I am running a simple load test for AccountManager and checking performance metrics from OSB dashboard.
Expected behavior: - The performance metrics at proxy and at BS level should not differ more than few milliseconds (10-50 msec)
Problem Statement: - I am seeing a significant difference (like 40 to 50 seconds) between the metrics captured at proxy and BS level.
As an example, the number at proxy level is “1 minute 20 seconds” and the number at BS level is ‘500 milliseconds’
Moreover, this behavior is not consistent. It has started showing this behavior in last few days. The further impact of this is ‘stuck threads’ on webLogic server and hence the high possibility of memory outage. I have already restarted the Admin/managed-1/managed-2 servers couple of times.
Can anyone help me understand and identify the exact problem area for this issue?

does your proxy do any authentication with any 3rd party auth providers ?
Also in proxy service monitoring are you seeing all time at route node ? .. is the business service request type different that the contents of $body before the route? .. there could be some implicit transofmations if yes...

  • Difference between Proxy pattern and Business Delegate pattern

  • How to create multiple sip trunks between cucm and cisco unified sip proxy

    Dear Expert,
Is there a way to create multiple sip trunks between CUCM and Cisco Unified SIP Proxy (CUSP)? How to achieve it without creating multiple IP interfaces on the CUSP module.
    CUCM: 8.5.1.10000-9
    CUSP: 8.5.2
    Thank you,
    .wan

    Hello Michael,
This SIP trunk is part of UCCE solution, which used between CVP, CUSP, and CUCM.
    The requirements:
    1) To have different codecs for different type of calls, as the phones are at few countries
    2) To pass different number of digits from CUSP to CUCM for different call treatments

Clinet ABAP proxy used to send message from ANY SAP System to Integration server,in this case XI adapter not required .
Server ABAP proxy used to send messages from Intergration server to any SAP System,in this case XI Adapter required.

  • Dif between normal purchase organisation, std pu org and ref pu org

    hi
what is the dif between purchase organisation, standard purchase organisation and reference purchase organisation.

    Let me add some more...
Normal P.org is to procure either for the plant/entire company code/cross company level based upon assignement settings in SPRO.
for Ref.P.org, it will be simply assigned to other normal P.orgs only but neither assigned to any plant or company code. This is useful to enjoy the corporate contracts and their price benifits.
regarding Std.P.org, it is simply to handle procurement of special stocks if i am not wrong.
Hope this gives straight understanding in simple words.
    regards,
    arun
