Diferent font format for Parent/Child

Hello,With Excel Add-In, we can format the letter font differently for parent and child, using the Essbase Option (Style -> Members -> Parent -> Format). How can we do, the same thing, using Analyzer.Any help is appreciated.SL

Hi,Unfortunately there are no advanced formatting options in the current release of Analyzer (6.2.1). You can either format the data or the metadata (headers). I believe in the next release there are plans to incorporate more formatting options.Hope this helps.Paul ArmitageAnalitica Ltdwww.analitica.co.uk

  • No data for Parent-child hierarchy column in Pivot table view

    Hi all,
    I used OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 Version.
I drag one Parent-child hierarchy column and one measure and show result with a pivot table view.
But when I click "+" icon to show detail level data,
It messaged that: "*the layout of this view combined with the data, selections, drills,or prompt values chosen resulted in no data*."
But it can show every-level data when I used table view.
    It was so strange..
    Did anybody meet this before?
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Anne

    Hi,
Yes, I have the same problem with pivot table for hierarchy dimension.
If you use a normal table (not pivot) it seem to work. Unfortunatley with restrictions as normal table view have.
Same problem still exist in 11.1.1.6.5
I have logged a SR to Oracle about this.

  • Inspection for Parent Child Relation

    Hi
We are producing Mat.A from Mat .B and you want to copy the results from Mat.B .
    Both materials are batch managed.
The requirement is - At the inspection for Material A , want to use batch derivation to copy results of Mat B (Parent Child Process)

    Or in other words..
Whether its possible to transfer the characteristics values of the batch from parent materia (MOM Materials)l to Child Materials
Edited by: Mayank MEHROTRA on Jul 30, 2010 2:19 PM

    Hi Mayank,
We had the same issue in one project. What we did, we develped a z- transaction and program for that.
We had child batches, for eg, 1234561,1234562,1234563,1234564. here the mother batch is 123456. so we recorded value for this mother batch in MSC1N. In developed z transaction, we had a field called "mother batch" and next two fields as "from child batch" and "to child batch". So make entry in these fields and execute. Data will be populated automatically.
Sit with a good ABAPer, he will be able to develop the same.

  • SQL for Parent-Child Hierarchy

Please suggest which would be best way to achieve the below logic.
SQL to pick up parent child relationship within same table with a certain logic.
    Example:
    mod_product_number     Product_Hierarchy
    H555888     PH05678
    H888987     H555888
    H8889     H555888
    H9955     H555888
    H999999     H555888
    P6666     H999999
    P5555     H999999
Example: I expect the rows with H8889,H9955 & P6666 & P5555 to be sub-category values value for product hierarchy H555888.
If there are rows with H8888987 as Product_hierarchy, we will pull up those rows too for product hierarchy H555888.
The extra condition is we drill down only on 7 character mod_prod_number not on 5 character mod_prod_number. We pull out all sub category mod_prod_number for all distinct Product hierarchy.

    You can use Hierarchical Queries
    See.. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10592/queries003.htm
    select lpad(' ',2*(level-1)) || to_char(trim(t.mod_product_number)) prod,
      SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(t.product_hierarchy, '/') "Path",
      LEVEL
      from temp_table t
      start with trim(t.product_hierarchy) = 'PH05678'
      connect by prior trim(t.mod_product_number) = trim(t.product_hierarchy);
    .     PROD          Path                    LEVEL
    1     H555888          /PH05678                1
    2       H8889          /PH05678 /H555888           2
    3       H888987     /PH05678 /H555888           2
    4       H9955          /PH05678 /H555888           2
    5       H999999     /PH05678 /H555888           2
    6         P5555     /PH05678 /H555888 /H999999      3
    7         P6666     /PH05678 /H555888 /H999999      3

  • Do the custom rollup member formulas work recursively for parent child dimension?

    Hi
We have custom rollup set up for Account dimension which is parent child.
It seems to work fine when the custom member formula refers to a base account member i.e. if the formula for MemberKey4 is (MemberKey1 + MemberKey2) then it shows the sum of the underlying members 1 and 2.
But if the formula for MemberKey10 is (MemberKey3 + MemberKey4) then it should evaluate the value for MemberKey4 first and then add to it value for MemberKey3 to come up with final number for MemberKey10.
Do the custom rollup work fine with the recursive calculations? Is this recursion limited to some level?
    Thanks
    Shailesh

    Hi Jorg,
    Thanks for your input.
Actually the hierarhcy is more determined by the parent child relationship. So we cannot move the members as per the formula. And further the formulas are not always additive, there are divisions and multiplactions happening also.
Further the calculated members (account members) are used in different places, the usage level of calculated members could be 3 in some cases i.e. MemberKey15 = (calculated using MemberKey10 = (calculated using MemberKey7 = (Calculated using MemberKey4 = (calculated using base members)))). Now inserting the base members in place of a calcuated member becomes more of string manipulation.
And on the top of above complexity, the formulas are not static and they are more user defined, they may change between time periods, which forces us to write a dynamic procedure to translate the 'business formula' into SSAS formula. We expect the custom rollup to work as expected (i.e. if the formula contains a calculation involving the calculated member, it should resolve that first and so on) and we have written generic procedure to replace the Account Code in the 'business formula' with the accont key value with the account hierarchy char string.
In the link http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql2000/html/olapdmad/agmdxadvanced_6jn7.htm for AS2000, it talks about the calculation pass deapth, it says:
.......If a cube has custom rollup formulas or custom rollup operators, a second calculation pass is performed to handle the computations needed to calculate these features.......
Now from the above, it is obvious that the OLAP engine will automatically go into recursion if the formula contains a cacluated member and it knows that the calculated member has to be resolved first before calculating the final formula result. The above article also talks about 'Calculation Pass Number' property in the AdvanceCube Editor (AS2000), which can be set to the value depending on the expected number of passes required in a given scenario. I don't find such an equivalent peoperty for SSAS 2005.
Would anybody please throw some more ideas / insights on this issue?
Jorg, thanks  again for your input...

  • Siebel BIP Integration Objec for Parent, Child and Grand Child

    Hi,
I 'm trying to create a one report for displaying Parent, Child and Grand Child.
    Service Request
    - Quote
    - Quote Item.
Successfully create the BIP Integration object and generated the xml file. problem here is when trying to include the fields in BIP desktop word, not able to see the grand child fields, could see only the parent and child fileds and for grand child only 'ListOfQuoteItem' text.
Could some one please let me know the reason for this behavoir and wherther BIP supports 3 levels.
Is there any Out of Box Siebel report showing parent, child and grandchild.
    Thanks,
    Ravi kanth

One Siebel Adapter Upsert operation should be sufficient to insert the parent and child. In the Integration object definition, you define the Template child instances with the Parent of Template. i.e
You define Template first as an Integration Component and then define
Template child instances to have a Parent as Template.
    Thanks

    FROM [myCube]))
please help me on this, what is the best practices.
    Regards,
    Manish

    Hi manishcal16PPS,
According to your description, you want to slice the fact data on Year 2014 and Product 4. Now you find the result missing the customer 1 and 4. Right?
In this scenario, based on your Fact Sal table, both customer 1 and 4 are on Year 2015. So when you filter the data, it will not show customer 1 and 4. It returns correct result. For filtering data, either using sub select or specifying slicer axis
    can achieve your requirement.

I'm a little new to iWeb but got the basics down, I think. However, can't seem to get the web page (via Safari) to accept font formatting changes I make on my Blog. I change the font, change the color, line spacing. Then I publish to .Mac. When I check out the site via Safari, the formatting changes aren't there. All other changes are there. • Commit Rollback for Parent & Child table

    Hi,
I need to load data to a parent table and child table (Record by Record), i.e one record will be loaded to the parent table and the related child record will be loaded to child table.
After first record loaded to child table, the next record will be loaded to the parent table.
My requirement is, I should not commit the parent table before the child record is transferred (so that i can rollback if my record got failed). So I have set the parent table IKM commit option to NO. Because of this, my child record is not loaded to the correcsponding target table, its failed because the parent record is not commited.
Do we have any possiblities to overcome this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ram Mohan T

    Cezar,
I couldn't make the CKM options to "No Commit". When i did that i am getting the following error at step "16 - Control - CUSTOMER_DET - insert PK errors" ,
    12838 : 72000 : java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12838: cannot read/modify an object after modifying it in parallel.
This error occurs at the CKM. so i have made all the CKM options to "commit" and IKM, LKM to "No Commit". It seems to be fine.
    Cezar,
I have some plan for the scenario that i mentioned in the previous update (One dept id and all related employees). Please verify this,
    1) create a procedure which extracts dept_id from source tab and passes it to the scenario(in target tab) of a package.
    2) This package has the variable of dept_id, interface1 which loads data to dept and following that another procedure(2).
    3) This procedure2 will extract the emp_id that corresponds to the value of the variable dept_id. And passes this emp_id to tha scenario in target tab.
    4) This scenario is of a package which has the emp_id variable and interface2 for loading employees.
While executing this plan, the problem is,
    1) Interface1 which loads Dept_Id is not commited (due to the KMs with commit set to "No Commit"), so that the employee records are getting loaded to the error table.
    2) I have made the interface1 KM commit option to "Default: Yes " (But still the Knowledge modules steps are No commit), but still the child records are getting loaded to error table.
    3) As per the above scenario, all these transforamtions are not taking in the same transaction. Thats the problem i believe.
Do we have any possiblities to overcome this Cezar?
    Thanks in Advance,

  • Updating records for parent & child with integrity constraints

Hello, I haven't used oracle in a few years and now running a lab and need to make a few changes for testing. no production data at all.
What is the easiest way to change the parent and child tables? When I try to change the parent, oracle barks that the child is neglected, when i try to change the child first, then the parent is mad.
If I need to set up a trigger, what is the simplest form?
    thanks much!

Depends on what you want your data to look like. Since it's test, I would do what janeesh said. Disable the constraint on the tables, write a script to UPDATE all the necessary values in the parent and child table, and then re-enable the constraint.
I like the idea of setting the constraint to ENABLE VALIDATE afterwards to check the data in the tables. This verifies that all the updates you did comply with the constraint. Essentially this just checks to see if you hosed anything in either table.

  • Tree UI with Check box for parent/child selection.

    Hello experts,
I need to create a tree UI to display a hierarchy of nodes, but as a business requirment it is needed to have a checkbox in each node/element of the tree, so if I select a parent node (I mean checking it), all it's child nodes must also be checked and their corresponding elements.
Also if I select a child element, all the parent nodes must be checked all the way up to the root node.
If the user selects a child node, all subsecuent nodes/elements must be checked, and the parents of the child node selected also.
Basically like the functionality when installing software on a PC where the user selects components to install (like office), this is just the concept behind what we mean to accomplish.
    The nodes are NOT recursive.
    How can I accomplish that?
    Thanks in advance.
    JV

I haven't worked with this myself but adding functionality to APEX features is generally going to require doing some extra coding via jQuery, JavaScript or AJAX. Try contacting Hilary Farrell of Oracle, her handle is, hfarrell. She is talented in the charts, maps and trees arena.

  • Entity Currency Adj, Parent Currency adj for Parent-child with same currenc

    Hi,
In 11.1.2.1 I noticed that if parent and base entity currencies are same, entity currency and entity currency adjustments equal parent currency and parent currency adjustments respectively. If the currencies are different, the entity currency total gets translated to parent currency and post that, we can pass adjustments at PCA level.
I had an understanding that Entity Currency total always rolls upto Parent currency irrespective of whether the currencies of base and parent are same/different.
Is this something new with version 11 or has it always been like this?
    Thanks,
    S

I don't follow your explanation. To be very clear: <Parent Curr Adjs> is NOT the translation of <Entity Curr Adjs>. This will never happen. HFM takes <Entity Curr Total> and translates that into the target currency. The only time <Parent Curr Adjs> will equal <Entity Curr Adjs> is when they are indeed the very same currency. In that case there is no translation but instead two names for the same data set.

  • MDX query for parent-child combination display

    Hi guys..
I am really new to the Essbase technology.
Could you please help me out with this one:
is it possible to extract the data(for example the metadata of a outline)..eg:-
The outline structure is as follows :
    A1
    A11
    A12
    A2
    A21
    A22
I want a MDX query to display it as :
    A1 A11
    A1 A12
    A2 A21
    A2 A22
I have tried various ways but couldnt come up with a query for this.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Unfortunately MDX cannot do this. If you think about what you are asking for, you are essentially saying that you want to see members of the same dimension on different axis. Multi-dimensional queries can't do that (think about trying to do it with addin).
A further limiation is that MDX is not robust enough to allow you to work the results into a single axis using a concatenation function because while there is a string-to-member function, there is no member-to-string function and concat requires a string as input.
Other approaches would require MDX to support joins or subqueries, which it does not.
As others have mentioned, to do what you want to do, you need outline extractor or something like that.
*Fun fact - if you have OBIEE 11g, it can do reporting in Essbase with hierarchy members in hierarchy format or column format, which will give you the results you need.  That alone is good reason to start using OBIEE.
