diff between sap query and abap query

    Hi,
ABAP query is mostly used by functional consultants.
    SAP Query :
    Purpose
The SAP Query application is used to create lists not already contained in the SAP standard system. It has been designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language ABAP. SAP Query offers users a broad range of ways to define reporting programs and create different types of reports such as basic lists, statistics, and ranked lists.
    Features
SAP Query's range of functions corresponds to the classical reporting functions available in the system. Requirements in this area such as list, statistic, or ranked list creation can be met using queries.
All the data required by users for their lists can be selected from any SAP table created by the customer.
To define a report, you first have to enter individual texts, such as titles, and select the fields and options which determine the report layout. Then you can edit list display in WYSIWYG mode whenever you want using drag and drop and the other toolbox functions available.
    ABAP Query,:
As far as I Believe, is the use of select statements in the ABAP Programming. This needs a knowledge of Open SQL commands like Select,UPdtae, Modify etc. This has to be done only by someone who has a little bit of ABAP experience.
To sum up, SAP queries are readymade programs given by SAP, which the user can use making slight modification like the slection texts, the tables from which the data is to be retrieved and the format in which the data is to be displayed.ABAP queries become imperative when there is no such SAP query existing and also when there is a lot of customizing involved to use a SAP Query directly
    use either SQ02 ans SQ01
    or SQVI tr code

  • Difference between SAP MDM & IBM MDM

    Hi,
Can any one tell me what is the difference between SAP MDM & IBM MDM,  What are advantages of SAP MDM over IBM MDM.
    Pl. give reply
the good answers will be get good points.
    Thnks in advance.

    HI
    SAP Master Data Management
SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) enables master data on customers, partners and products to be consolidated and harmonized across the enterprise, making it available to all staff and business partners. A key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity across all IT systems.
The SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) component of SAP NetWeaver creates the preconditions for enterprise services and business process management. The functionality represents customers, products, employees, vendors, and user-defined data objects in unified form. With SAP NetWeaver MDM, customers can manage master data and supplemental content, such as texts, PDF documents, high-resolution images, or diagrams in a central business information warehouse.
SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) is a component of SAP's NetWeaver product group and is used as a platform to consolidate, cleanse and synchronise a single version of the truth for master data within a heterogeneous application landscape. It has the ability to distribute internally and externally to SAP and non-SAP applications. SAP MDM is a key enabler of SAP Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture. Standard system architecture would consist of a single central MDM server connected to client systems through SAP Exchange Infrastructure using XML documents, although connectivity without SAP XI can also be achieved. There are five standard implementation scenarios:
Content Consolidation - centralized cleansing, de-duplication and consolidation, enabling key mapping and consolidated group reporting in SAP BI. No re-distribution of cleansed data.
Master Data Harmonization - as for Content Consolidation, plus re-distribution of cleansed, consolidated master data.
Central Master Data Management - as for Master Data Harmonization, but all master data is maintained in the central MDM system. No maintenance of master data occurs in the connected client systems.
Rich Product Content Management - Catalogue management and publishing. Uses elements of Content Consolidation to centrally store rich content (images, PDF files, video, sound etc.) together with standard content in order to produce product catalogues (web or print). Has standard adapters to export content to DTP packages.
Global Data Synchronization - provides consistent trade item information exchange with retailers through data hubs  Some features (for example, workflow) require custom development out of the box to provide screens for end users to use.

    IBM MDM
n IBM's view, MDM is a set of disciplines, technologies, and solutions used to create and maintain consistent, complete, contextual, and accurate business data for all stakeholders (users, applications, data warehouses, processes, enterprises, trading partners, and so on). It's a holistic framework for managing structured and unstructured data that's aligned with business processes and managed throughout the information life cycle.

  • Reg: Diff between SAP business suite and Business One

    Hi Guru,
We are planning to implement SAP in our industry.
Now we are planning to implement SAP Business one. After three years we will bring in complete SAP implementation.
1.Can you please tell the difference between complete SAP Implementation and SAP B1.
2.Could you please explain, if we implement SAP B1 right now. will there be any problem if we go for complete implementation.
3.If the business grows above one billion, will B1 hold good?
    4.What is the business suite?
    Thanks & Regards,
    S.Nehru

    Nehru,
thank you for considering SAP solutions.
W regards to question 1 and 4, in short:
SAP Business Suite on traditional relational databases or on HANA is the most extensive SAP set of SAP Business application and includes the SAP applications ERP, CRM, SCM (Supply Chain) SRM (Supplier Relationship) and PLM (Product Lifecycle)
A1 is based on SAP Business Suite and tailored by SAP partners.
B1 is a separate product, so is Business by Design.
All solutions are integrated and used by the largest global enterprises and their subsidiaries as well as by SME small and midsize enterprises, depending on their requirements.
Please see Solution overview of SME solution for more details on A1, B1 and Business by Design.
In addition to the Business Applications, SAP also offers Business Networks Solutions like ARIBA and Concur.
The majority of SAP customers are SME customers: At the end of the third quarter of 2014, SAP has more than 263,000 customers, of which more than 80 percent, or 212,500, are SME's.
Without knowing more details, it would be not professional from my site to provide an answer to your question 2 and 3. Please work with your local SAP partner or SAP Account Executive to validate your approach.
    Thank you

  • List of SAP versions, Diff. between SAP versions

Can any1 send me a list of SAP versions and whts the different between these Versions. ?

ECC 5.0 is based on WAS 6.40 and ECC 6.0 is based on WAS 7.00.
From functional point of view there are some minor differences, as the core functionalities are not changed a lot. However there is Industrial Solutions intergarated to ECC 6.0 by default.
From ABAP point of view you have the following new elements/components:
    - New ABAP editor /meanwhile it's available via downport for lower releases as well/
    - ABAP WebDynpro
    - Enhancement framework
    - Regular experssion support
Also check this link for functionality differences.

  • What is the diff between SAP Netweaver B1i and B1i that comes with SBO 2007

    Hi
There is SAP Netweaver B1i which is used for integration with SAP R3. But when you get SBO 2007 it also comes with B1i. Is there a difference or is it the same tool??
    Thank you for your time.

    Louis,
B1i on the SAP Business One 2007A Preview release is the same as B1i 2005A as far as what it is and how it works with relation to integrating SAP Business One and R/3.  There are new features that are part of B1i 2007A of course that are not in 2005A such as integration with SAP BW, an updated Control Center as well as some other features such as the installation and upgrade routines.  You should have a look at the documentation in the ..\Documentation folder and specifically in the "Integration" and "PEP" folders on the preview media.  This is also, as mentioned, the PREVIEW version, so there will be updates to it forth coming before general release.

  • SAP MDM field status and SAP ERP field status

Just wanted to understand what are the implications of a field status mismatch between SAP MDM and SAP ECC for Vendor Masters. Further, what happens in a scenario where the vendor master data is changed directly in SAP ECC. I am presuming that both systems will not be in sync as the MDM system talks one way and updates the SAP ECC system. Or is there a feasibility whereby any change carried out in SAP ECC is also routed back to SAP MDM.

    Hi,
Basically MDM is implemented in order to maintain Master Data at single location, such that control can be incorporate in flow of Master Data.
Thus it is recommended that master data should be changed or created in MDM itself and than syndicated to other systems.
But in case Master Data need to be changed in ECC, MDM ABAP API's can be used to update data in MDM Repositories directly from ECC so that Master Data remains in Sync.
(Using MDM ABAP APIs, code can e developed in ECC to update fields in MDM.)

To a large extent, SAP’s NetWeaver initiatives are concessions to the reality of heterogeneity. No customer is going to have a completely SAP- or Oracle-based environment. With NetWeaver and Fusion, SAP and Oracle propose to accommodate the heterogeneous data-access requirements of their customers while keeping their bread-and-butter application software at the heart of things.
IBM’s middleware vision displaces the primacy of the ERP vendors. It’s probably too much to say that customers who embrace Big Blue’s WebSphere data integration middleware can pick and choose from between and among best-of-breed financial, SCM, and MRP (among others) products for their enterprise application needs. If nothing else, however, IBM’s data integration and MDM middleware stack does give customers an alternative to SAP .
However one of the problems with IBM’s approach to MDM is that, taken in isolation, it would mean that application vendors would need to completely rewrite their applications to take advantage of the MDM layer. This isn’t going to happen, not least because vendors like SAP have their own MDM capabilities.
Moreover, users those do not want to convert to IBM's new multiform MDM offering will have to
negotiate separate maintenance agreements to protect their long-term investments in
WPC (which is WebSphere Product Center is a product information management solution for building a consistent central repository.).
Lastly, users should work with IBM to ensure that the standard IBM three-year
maintenance commitment will continue with the current WPC product, independent of
any move to a single MDM platform.

  • IBM MDM vs. SAP MDM

The company has decided to use IBM MDM rather then SAP MDM as there preferred master data management tool.  However, we would like to also implement SAP SRM 6.0 in the near future and we're wondering if choosing IBM MDM instead of SAP MDM will cause problems with SRM?
Does anyone know the key touch points between SAP MDM and SAP SRM?  Has anyone had SAP SRM and used a MDM tool other then SAP MDM?

SAP MDM comes with the catalog with search and alternative features such as spares which you are aware. In fact I understand from SAP that SAP MDM is the preffered catalog solution rather than going from the SRM side - particularly because SRM catalog is not freely available with SAP SRM - While with SAP MDM it is.
IBM MDM does not have a good integration with SAP SRM - infact needs the configuration changes each time the catalog is modified.
With SAP MDM - there is a standard Business Content delivered respository which you can extend while with IBM you will have to implement both WPC and WCC to get this - hence double license cost and double logins
    Hope this helps.

  • Using the Open Catalog Interface (OCI) between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM

    Hello ASUG Community.
I'm working on an SAP-MDM project where we will configure the OCI interface between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM.  The business requirement will be to punch out to SAP-MDM's catalog from SAP-ECC for expensed items (e.g., no material master record exists in SAP-ECC).
The data that will be returned to SAP-ECC will be purchase price info, material group, short text, & our global SAP-MDM item number.
The question I've been trying to design around is "where to store the SAP-MDM item number"?
I've looked into creating a custom filed on EKPO but now feel that a configured text field will be the best solution from an SAP-ECC point of view (less effort on the SAP-ECC side from a development perspective, no need to regenerate the EKPO table, etc.).
The question I'd like to pose to ASUG is.... Does anyone have experience or an opinion to offer using this functionality?  It seems that I will have to code in a user exit or BAdi to insure that the SAP-MDM item numbers are returned to the appropriate text field on my POu2019s.  Or can this be done using the standard OCI functionality?
I found OSS note 1347656 which references BADI "ME_CATALOG_INTERFACE" but I'm not sure if this right path to go down or if this would be the correct place to code non-conforming OCI mapping requiremetns.
Any insight would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.  Sincerely,
    Rich Wortmann

I would suggest you create a new field for this as you may require thois going forward for reporting as well. Text fields are difficult to report.
Sorry not sure about the BADI to use.

  • PI Integration between SAP NW MDM and APO

    Hi SDners,
This is a Parts Master Data Solution for one of the Largest Auto Manufacturer where SAP MDM will be the central hub of all the Global and Local attributes of Parts . The subscribing system is SAP SCM APO  . Please advice if there is any possibility of direct integration between APO -MDM through PI. Does PI has the standard IDOC types to communicate with APO.
    Thanks,
    Prabuddha

    Hi Roy,
Please search for standard content in SAP Market place. If you have standard content then you can download and install in PI. With standard you can directly use the master data mappings coming from MDM. If either in MDM or APO has any changes from standard then you can do the map accordingly.
PI doesnot hold any idocs, whatever system here in your case APO what ever the master idocs, you can import the metadata and then do the mapping accordingly.
Just for an example you can see on how to do this:

  • What's the difference between WorkflowTask and WorkflowJob in SAP MDM API?

    Hi Support,
Could you tell me the differences between WorkflowTask and WorkflowJob in SAP MDM API? And which can represent a workflow in Workflows tab in MDM Date Manager.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Song

    Hi Songxu,
Workflow Task: It is the task(workflow steps like Process, Approver etc) assigned to different user during Workflow. User's  use the workflow tabs in Data Manager to view and process workflow tasks. see page 91/654 of Data Manager Guide.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmdm71/helpdata/en/4b/72b8aaa42301bae10000000a42189b/MDMDataManager71.pdf
Workflow Job: Each workflow is invoked as a job that can consist of multiple records that move through the steps of a workflow (how many records are involved into your Workflow) as a group while simultaneously maintaining record-level granularity. Once the job has been launched, it moves automatically from step-to-step and from user-to-user, showing up in the inbound task queue in each useru2019s Workflows tab for disposition and processing.

  • What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product

    HI Friends
What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product
What are the futures are availables in IS MIlls
    Regards

    Hi,
SAP R/3 is the central enterprise version. It is not specifically designed for any inducstry sectors and it can cater many of the industry types.
Is is developed for specific industries an for SMB's (small and medium business). It will have components specifically for the industry.
The SAP Mill Products component adds sector-specific functionality to an ERP system to satisfy the complex requirements of mill industries (e.g. metal, wood, paper, textiles, construction materials, and cable sectors).
These industry segments differ from others primarily in that the materials used have a large number of characteristics and variants. The materials in the segments listed above are also predominantly area-based (e.g. paper, textiles, plastic film) or length-based (e.g. cables, piping). Account must be taken of these material characteristics throughout the entire supply chain.
To cater for the particularities of these industry segments, SAP Mill Products features processes and functions that cover the entire supply-chain cycle – from product design and configuration, through planning, order processing, capacity planning and production, to final delivery. Additional functions are available in costing and inventory management. SAP Mill Products are also integrated into Quality Management, Financial Accounting, and Controlling.

  • SRM Product / Material creation - Data flow to SAP MDM

    Dear SAP friends,
I need your help with 2 issues. Thanks in advance for your collaboration.
Our client needs to create products and make them available to purchase almost immediately.
The scenario we had working for the last 2 years was: product creation in SRM (fields: short description / product category / measure unit), that would then be sent to SAP MDM for data enrichment, through BBP_CCM_TRANSFER_CATALOG (JOB running every 1 minute). This solution worked well for the last 2 years.
Recently, we are having some problems with this job. We noticed that, sometimes SRM doesn´t send the new products to MDM, and we think it´s a report performance problem. The report doesn´t maintain is normal behavior when executed every 1 minute.
SAP advice is to only run this report once a day. That would obviously require having a minimum time frame of 1 day between product creation and its availability (purchase), which isn´t acceptable in this client business model.
Question 1: Did anyone have a client with similar requirement? What was the implemented solution?
Because of report performance problems, we are running it (BBP_CCM_TRANSFER_CATALOG) every 5 minutes. It happens that sometimes, more than one catalog manager creates products in that time frame, and MDIS when importing the products to MDM, creates one unique workflow JOB making it impossible to assign it to both catalog managers for enrichment.
Question 2: How can we ensure that SRM sends only one product per xml files sent to XI / PI ? Or, perhaps, ensure that XI / PI splits the xml file sent from SRM into several files with one product each.
Thank you very much for your help in advance,
    Best Regards,
    João S. Carvalho

    Hi meka
    In product costing values flows as follows;
In product cost calculation raw material prices are costed which comes from material master in MM01
Product operations: i.e material BOM and master receipe or routings from PP module. From PP module operation costs comes in product costing.
In CO module: In Tcode KP26 we maintain activity\cost center planning for activities like machine hours, set up hours, labour hours etc. Here we define plan quantity and plan prices.
In Cost Sheet (KZS2) we maintain base cost elements & overheads and While order creation we calculate planned cost of that particular  material.and then check the variances after getting actual cost of product.
Hope this will help you and if found useful assign points.
Let me know if you need more information.
    Regards
    Nilesh.
