Diff btwn Oracle 8i Rowid & Oracle 9i Rowid?

Hi
Experts recently i was going through a document on Oracle where i came to know that the rowid of Oracle 8i & 9i Differs. As far as my obeservation is concerned i found that the length field of Rowid differs so can anyone explain me the contents of Rowid.
Ur help is highly appreciated.
Cheerz mate.

Rowid is like a column that return's a row address; it is usually unique.
It contains:
The data object number of the object
Which data block in the datafile
Which row in the data block (first row is 0)
Which datafile (first file is 1). The file number is relative to the tablespace.

  • What is the diff btwn Schedule & Delivery w.r.t MM Module?

    Hi!
What is the diff btwn Schedule & Delivery w.r.t MM Module?
    Regards,
    Imran.

Return delivery and repair are different.
    For repair please follow:
    1) Decision must be taken whether the same material code to be returned after the repair work.
    2) Decision must be taken whether value updation is required during return of material
    3) Based on the two above decision create a new material type and material master with that new material type.
    4) Check the OBYC SETTINGS FOR BSX,WRX,BSV,FRL,GBB.
    5) Create subcontracting PO for the repaied material code where you isuue the material as a component which is needed to be repaired.
    6) Isuue the material to the vendor wrt the PO with movement type 541 in MB1B.
    7) After repairing receive the material through MIGO wrt PO.
    8) Book the invoice through MIRO.

    Vikash,
In case of ATP you are including the order line quantity that is being entered into consideration for calculating ATP (on the fly) where as the item supply demand will consider only scheduled order lines.
Also ATP check does the check for all the lines if the item has configuration (I believe). THis is not the case in the item supply demand. It is just doing the check only for that item.
Also ATP can be global. If you want to check the availablity of the item across your supply and demand network, you can do that (Global Order Promising). Supply Demand is purely inventory function. ATP is planning function.
These are few differences. There can be or are much more.
Take a look at the ASO_ATP_INT to get an idea how to do this. This is used in quote and iStore where customers can check themselves when the product is available using the date.
I suggest you use ATP functionality and not Supply demand logic.
    Thanks

  • Date diff for oracle 9i

    Hi Guys,
I'm new in oracle... I'm using oracle in cf application now.
    Oracle 9i.
Now i want to display records for 6 months. How to use
    datediff function in oracle?
    My query will like this
    Select * from tblname
    Where datediff(now(),fielddate) <= 6.
Any one use oracle? Please help me on this.
    Thank in advance,
    Regards
    Shaffiq

You might want to use "where fielddate > SYSDATE - 180,
but 180 is just an approximation in days of 6 months and won't be
exact. I use 8i, but aside from outer joins, they're very similar.
    I highly recommend this page:

difference between oracle 8i and oracle 9i No difference. These are both:
    1. very old

  • Diff between Oracle 9i and 10g with date format MON in FRENCH language

    Hi,
With a session in FRENCH language, when i do:
    SQL> select to_char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yyyy') from dual;
    The result in 10g is:
    TO_CHAR(SYSDA
    27-juil.-2005
    The result in 9i is:
    TO_CHAR(SYS
    28-jul-2005
Where is the problem and how can i have the same result in 10g than in 9i ?
    Thank you for your help.

This behaviour is documented in the Oracle Database 10g Globalization Guide; it also includes the steps on how to revert back to the Oracle 9i locale definitions.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10749/applocaledata.htm#sthref1769
Please note that 10g is using the correct convention, the Oracle9i locale definition files will be desupported in a future release.

  • Diff between oracle linux and oracle enterprise linux?

    hi all,
i am new to this flavor of Linux. I know oracle linux has red hat source, but i am confused about the difference betweek oracle linux which comes in versions 4 (upto update 8) and 5 (latest update being 5).
i need to install oracle enterprise linux at a client place, so i gota know the difference.
Should i be installing oracle Linux first and then run the rpm of "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel"? or is the "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel" only for customers who require this kernal on oracle linux update 5 x86_64?
    thanks

    waldorfm wrote:
From what I understand Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) is a rebranded version of Red hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Oracle Linux (OL) is OEL plus Oracle optimization and custom, newer kernel. OL with Oracle "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel" is available as x86_64 only and was introduced based on OEL or RHEL 5.5.
You can install OEL 5.4 and easily upgrade to OEL 5.5, PMFJI, but can you point me to docs on how to make that upgrade? The timing of this msg on the forum was exquisite, as I started looking at that just today. I have an OEL 5.4 installation and would much rather upgrade to 5.5 than to have to rebuild from scratch.
I did a yum install kernel with the 5.5 version of the public-yum-el5.repo. That went without a hitch and now reports "2.6.32-100.0.19.el5 #1" where I was 2.6.18-164.el5, but I also see
    [root@myserver ~]# uname -a
    Linux myserver 2.6.32-100.0.19.el5 #1 SMP Fri Sep 17 17:51:41 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    [root@myserver ~]# cat /etc/enterprise-release
Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Carthage)
    [root@myserver ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga)Bottom line is that I am charged with updating the kernel to a 2.6 version newer than 19 Sep, or applying a patch for the compat_alloc_user_space() function, and am not sure exactly how to proceed from here.
if you like or start to install from version 5.5, and then install OL 5.5 by downloading the Oracle public yum repository and follow the instructions at http://public-yum.oracle.com

  • Diff between oracle's org.w3c.dom in xmlParserV2.jar and JREs impl?

    New to Java/oracle enviornment.
I have an class that retrieves clobs from 10g. I need to include oracles xmlParserV2.jar in the classpath for XMLType support.
I then added this class to my app.
When I do this, areas in my app that previously used the JRE org.w3c.dom bombs with the exception: AbstractMethodError: getTextContent()....
I am assuming that when I set xmlParserv2.jar in my class path, that my app is now using oracle's implementation of the org.w3c.dom....
I say this because I see the org.w3c.dom.. in the xmlParserv2jar. Is my app running into some incompatibility with the way oracle has implemented the org.w3c.dom.
Is there a xmlParserv2.jar without the org.w3c stuff?
I need the XMLType support from xmlParserv2.jar. Is the XMLType support dependent on oracles implementation of the org.w3c.dom....?
    Thanks everyone;
    Any help appreciated.

I dont find the j2ee_1.3.01.jar file in a simple oc4j installation. Its present in the bpel/lib directory if you install the full soa suite.
I removed the oc4jclient.jar, and I see the same behavior as mentioned above. If I just have two jar files - orabpel.jar and orabpel-common.jar, my application does not start up (no logs are created). When I add the j2ee_1.3.01.jar, then the logs are created but I see the LinkageError in the opmn logs.

  • Diff Between Oracle BPM Studio and Oracle BPEL Process Manager

1)What is the difference between Oracle BPM Studio and Oracle BPEL Process Manager?
2)What is the connection between Oracle BPM Studio and Oracle BPEL Process Manager?

    Hi,
As of today you should install SOA Suite 11g
Fr this you will need to install Database (for development you can use XE)
Run RCU utility to crete DB schemas for SOA Suite.
    Install Weblogic server
Install SOA Suite as an option to Weblogic
    Create SOA Domain.
It is physically possible to do it in 2GB but is far better on 3 - 4GB
You can consider installing DB on different machine.
