Difference between Album and Book
I don t see any link or explanation
thanks
I'm not clear where your question comes from
- in iPhoto an album is a virtual collection of photos used for organization that shows in the source pane to the left

About photo albums
A photo album in iPhoto is just like one you create with paper and print photos: It’s a collection of photos you select from your library and arrange in the order you want.
iPhoto offers two kinds of albums: a standard one and a Smart Album. You create a standard album manually—that is, by choosing and placing particular photos. Standard albums are not automatically updated as your library changes.
Smart Albums are created based on criteria you choose, including Exchangeable Image File information, and are automatically updated as your library changes.
You can use either kind of album to chronicle a special occasion, such as a summer vacation, or display a particular subject, such as your favorite nature photos. You can also use albums to better organize your photo library, group the photos you want to burn to CD or DVD, or choose pictures for a webpage.
You can make as many albums as you like using any images from your photo library. You can also include the same photo in several albums without making multiple copies of it.
To further organize your library, you can group several albums into a single folder, such as several years of birthday albums or albums chronicling the camping trips you’ve taken.

Difference between albums and events
If I put pictures into albums from photo stream, will they be permanently saved in the album if I delete them from photo stream to save space on my devices. My iPhone is getting full and I worry that if I take pics off the phone they will disappear from the iPad. I use iCloud, are the back ups separate for each device?
What is the difference between an event and an album that I create?!
Do you get how confused I am!?!!iPhoto on your iphone correct?
It works pretty much the same as on the mac. Albums are a collage of pictures you want to save. You can then publish if you'd like. An event is kinda the same thing but when I add pictures to my mac or phone you can organize folder by an event ie. Birthday, Graduation, Trip, etc. I typically organize first on my mac then sync iPhoto to the device (iPhone).
Photo Stream saves the last 30 days of pictures on all iOs device and macs. The pictures do take up room on the phone but you can actually disable that feature on your iphone using Setting, iCloud, turn off Photo streaming. The pictures will be removed from the iphone but will still appear on all Photo Streaming devices that still have Photo Streaming enabled.
I hope that makes sense.
The pictures are only permanently saved from Photo Stream (PS) by clicking the photo in PS and save to an event. I would do this before you turn off Photo Stream on the iphone device. -
Difference between ALBUM and EVENT?
Can someone please tell me what the difference is between an ALBUM and an EVENT?
I am a little confused as to what the actual differences are.An Event is a folder of images with a fancy icon in the iPhoto Window. The contents of the particular Event are decided by the date and time of the Photos. Events are a view of the Library. So, every photo is in an Event because every photo is in the Library. That means if you want to have the same photo in two Events it uses twice the disk space.
An Album is an arbitrary collection of Photos - My Favourites, Pics of My Dog from various dates and so on. Photos in an Album simply reference the pics in the Library - so a Photo can be in any number of Albums and use no extra disk space at all.
One way to look at it: Events are basic, automatic, crude organisation. It's all date and time.
Albums allow you to select, to group on other bases - like the content, the quality, the importance of the photo. So, go to a wedding, shoot 300 photos. They all go into the Event. Then pick the best 50 and make an Album from them. Be nice to your friends. Only show them the Album
FWIW:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 40k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me. -
What's the difference between tags and albums
I've always used tags, I don't really understand why you would use albums instead of tags.
Say I've got pictures of birds, I would apply the Bird tag.
Where exactly do albums come in?Another thing to keep in mind with the differences between albums and tags.
Both albums and tags are stored in the catalogs.
Tags can be also stored in the picture files themselves; they can be accessed form your OS or other applications. They are still available if the catalog is missing or corrupt. The organizer does only 'write metadata' to files if you specifically issue this command. On the other hand, albums can't be saved in the files themselves. They are kinds of 'playlists' which can only be stored in catalogs. That's why it is important to backup regularly. The standard backup process saves the catalogs as well as the image files; if you use an external backup system, include the catalog folder (found with Menu Help/System information) as well in your backup procedure. -
Can u explain the difference between album book calendar icloud in iphoto
In iphoto u have some different options to group photos, can someone tell me the difference between albums books calendar icloud and slideshows, i don't know which of them to use to group my photos.
ThanksAlbums are arbitrary collections of photos. You decide what photos go in what albums. In your list these are the only items for grouping photos.
Books are exctly that. Books you design based on templates and buy in printed from from Apple. Ditto with Calendars
iCloud is an online syncing service offered by Apple. In terms of iPhoto you're thinking of Photostreams. See

What is the difference between a mac-book and an I-pad?
The Macbook is a computer (running Mac OS X), an iPad is a tablet (running iOS). What are thinking of using it for ? The Mac is more powerful than iPad, so if you need processing power then that will be better suited for your needs. If you will mainly be using it for media (films, music), internet browsing, emails, ebooks, then an iPad would be sufficient.

What's the difference between photos and albums
I'm trying to figure out what the difference between photos and albums is on my ipad 'photos' programme.
What I'm really trying to do is to delete photos from my phone so that I'm not going over 5GB on my icloud and I don't want to lose them, so I'm checking to see where they are stored on ipad.Hello julian
As far as what iCloud backs up, it is backing up the photos and videos in the Camera Roll. If you want to ensure that your pictures are backed up, then follow the steps in the last article to import them to your computer. One thing to note is that you cannot import your albums that you create. If those photos are not in your camera roll, import the photos to your camera roll.

What's the Difference Between OLAP and OLTP?
HI,
What's the difference between OLAP and OLTP ? and which one is Best?
-Arun.M.DHi,
The big difference when designing for OLAP versus OLTP is rooted in the basics of how the tables are going to be used. I'll discuss OLTP versus OLAP in context to the design of dimensional data warehouses. However, keep in mind there are more architectural components that make up a mature, best practices data warehouse than just the dimensional data warehouse.
Corporate Information Factory, 2nd Edition by W. H. Inmon, Claudia Imhoff, Ryan Sousa
Building the Data Warehouse, 2nd Edition by W. H. Inmon
With OLTP, the tables are designed to facilitate fast inserting, updating and deleting rows of information with each logical unit of work. The database design is highly normalized. Usually and at least to 3NF. Each logical unit of work in an online application will have a relatively small scope with regard to the number of tables that are referenced and/or updated. Also the online application itself handles the majority of the work for joining data to facilitate the screen functions. This means the user doesn't have to worry about traversing across large data relationship paths. A heavy dose of lookup/reference tables and much focus on referential integrity between foreign keys. The physical design of the database needs to take into considerations the need for inserting rows when deciding on physical space settings. A good book for getting a solid base understanding of modeling for OLTP is The Data Modeling Handbook: A Best-Practice Approach to Building Quality Data Models by Michael C. Reingruber, William W. Gregory.
Example: Let's say we have a purchase oder management system. We need to be able to take orders for our customers, and we need to be able to sell many items on each order. We need to capture the store that sold the item, the customer that bought the item (and where we need to ship things and where to bill) and we need to make sure that we pull from the valid store_items to get the correct item number, description and price. Our OLTP data model will contain a CUSTOMER_MASTER, A CUSTOMER_ADDRESS_MASTER, A STORE_MASTER, AN ITEM_MASTER, AN ITEM_PRICE_MASTER, A PURCHASE_ORDER_MASTER AND A PURCHASE_ORDER_LINE_ITEM table. Then we might have a series of M:M relationships for example. An ITEM might have a different price for specific time periods for specific stores.
With OLAP, the tables are designed to facilitate easy access to information. Today's OLAP tools make the job of developing a query very easy. However, you still want to minimize the extensiveness of the relational model in an OLAP application. Users don't have the wills and means to learn how to work through a complex maze of table relationships. So you'll design your tables with a high degree of denormalization. The most prevalent design scheme for OLAP is the Star-Schema, popularized by Ralph Kimball. The star schema has a FACT table that contains the elements of data that are used arithmatically (counting, summing, averaging, etc.) The FACT Table is surrounded by lookup tables called Dimensions. Each Dimension table provides a reference to those things that you want to analyze by. A good book to understand how to design OLAP solutions is The Data Warehouse Toolkit: Practical Techniques for Building Dimensional Data Warehouses by Ralph Kimball.
Example: let's say we want to see some key measures about purchases. We want to know how many items and the sales amount that are purchased by what kind of customer across which stores. The FACT table will contain a column for Qty-purchased and Purchase Amount. The DIMENSION tables will include the ITEM_DESC (contains the item_id & Description), the CUSTOMER_TYPE, the STORE (Store_id & store name), and TIME (contains calendar information such as the date, the month_end_date, quarter_end_date, day_of_week, etc).

Key Configuration differences between SAP and ORACLE Financials
Hello,
After spending good 7 years in SAP related projects recently I started working in ORACLE Applications. I used to be an ORACLE programmer years back. To my surprise the same <b><u>ORACLE Forms</u></b> are still very much the heart of the ORACLE UI.
Then I thought what will be the key differences between ORACLE and SAP in terms of configuration elements. While I know a bunch of configuraion items in SAP , I am not sure about the same in ORACLE world. I am not even sure some of the configuration items that are available in SAP exists in ORACLE.
Does anyone know both sides of the coin ? The terminology and design ?
SAP has
Client,Company code, Business area, Functional Area, GL, Posting Key, Document Type.
I am trying to get the details of the equivalents of these in ORACLE.
Does anyone know it ?
For e.g , when you post to <b>AP</b> or <b>AR</b> in <b>SAP</b> , <b>GL</b> is updated automatically. In <b>ORACLE</b> you post to a <b>AP Book</b> or <b>AR Book</b> then Run a batch to move them to <b><u>GL Book</u></b>.
ORACLE uses SQLLoader to load data . You can write a PL SQL and update the tables directly, which is not the case in SAP. For dataloads and conversions, SAP uses BDC's ( though XI can be used but its slow). For ORACLE its the good old SQL and PlSQL combo.
What are the equivalents of the configuration elements in ORACLE world ?
Also what are the major differences between these two in terms of designing a financial system.
Does any one know ?Genie,
I agree that a case is made on how well these two ERPs solve the day to day tasks before a company chooses one of these two. But my question is aimed at finance to begin with. You are going to need a general ledger for any company or government regardless of ERP. And how well you can drive the ledger to map your business is the key here.
The way ledger is built is around a business area ,company or country and is very tighly designed in SAP. I would like to know if there is any equivalent of the configuration items in ORACLE. I am more interested in terminology of ORACLE.
For example ,
<u><b><u><b>SAP ====> ORACLE</b></u>
<u><b>GL ==> Book In ORACLE</b></u>
<b><u>Document Number ===> Invoice Number</u></b>
<b><u>Posting Period in SAP ==> Posting period In ORACLE</b></u></u></b>
Most of the terms are finance terms , so they are common ( eg. an account number is an account number in ORACLE and SAP ) between two systems. I am interested in any specific thing that is available in ORACLE but not in SAP and vice verse.
thanks for the link you have provided.
Its very useful. -

Difference between zero and blank values
Is there a way for the system to determine the difference between zero and blank values. One can have a zero allowed for the 0 value to actualy be there in the KF but is there a way that a macro can be written by which we can use the differentiation between the zero ( a value) and blank (no value) in the KF
I have tried to look for an explanation on the service.sap.com and sdn but was not able to find anything.
Thanks in advanceThanks for your reply. You mentioned something about the "fixing" setting that could make the "0" displayed in the planning book. Could you elaborate?
Also, in the post from user "APO APO" on 5/8, the author seemed to indicate they could see the "0" in the planning book, as quoted below:
"I have already made the zero allowed arrangement for that in the planning area and can see the 0 values in the planning book but I am not being able to make the macro get the results."
I just want to find out if there is any way the user can visually distinguish b/w the "0" and blank values. If not, it'll be very confusing to the users. I understand the macros can distinguish b/w them.
Thanks in advance. -

Is there any difference between iPhotobooks and Aperturebooks
Hello,
Can someone tell me if there is any difference in paperquality and covermaterials between iPhotobooks and books via Aperture.
I did receive my first iPhotobook: it looks good in printing and coulor, but the paper is a bit thin(cheap look). It feels the same as the paper in the books of our warehouse. Apart from the design options will the quality be better if I print it vias Aperture?
Thanks for any comment
SuzanneNo, there is no difference. Instance name is the same as SID.

Difference between FileInputStream and DataInputStream
Hai everyone,
I want to know the difference between FileInputStream and DataInutStream. As i am new to this environment i am little bit confused between the two. So i request you to explain the difference with an example so that everything will be clear for me.FileInputStream is for reading bytes from a file, as is indicated in the API docs: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/io/FileInputStream.html
DataInputStream is for reading java primitives (byte, char, short, int, long, float, double, boolean) through some other stream, as is indicated in the API docs: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/io/DataInputStream.html
If you want to read Java primtives from a file, you'd use them together: FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream("somefile"); // for reading bytes from the file
DataInputSeam dis = new DataInputStream(fis); // for interpreting bytes read by fis as Java primitives
int ii = dis.readInt(); // dis uses fis to read 4 bytes from the file, and interprets them as a Java int You should probably go through this: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/io/index.html
