Difference between Analytic workspace manager and AWB

Hi could anyone tell me the difference between AWM and AWB , . I finished designing my cube using AWB and i was planing to use OBIEE to browse and view my cube for reporting etc but it turns out that OWB cubes arent diretly compatible with OBIEE workspace we have to use AWM to make it compatible or something.. So why use OWB in the first place ???

Hi Jan,
The difference is that one uses a memory mapped file and one uses direct nio memory (as part of the memory allocated by the JVM process) to store the data. Both allow storing cache data off heap making it possible to store more data with a single cache node (JVM) without long GC pauses.
If you are using a 32 bit JVM, the JVM process will be limited to a total of ~3GB on Windows and 4GB on Linux/Solaris. This includes heap and off heap memory allocation.
Regarding the size limitations for the nio-file manager Please see the following doc for more information.
With the release of 3.5 there is now the idea of a Partitioned backing map which helps create larger (up to 8GB of capacity) for nio storage. Please refer to the following doc.
Both can be used to query data but it should be noted that the indexes will be stored in heap.

  • Difference between nio-file-manager  and nio-memory-manager

    Hi,
what's the difference between nio-file-manager and nio-memory-manager? The documentation doesn't really discuss the differences as far as I know. They both use nio to store memory-mapped files don't they? What are the advantages/disadvantages of both?
When to choose the first one and when the second when storing a large amount of data? Can both be used to query data with the Filter API? Are there size limits on both?

    Hi,
What more should I install ?Did you do the OLAP catalog (dbms_olap)?

    2) In Trade Promotion, Market makes the Trade agreement ( To sell the Particular Products ) with the Particular BP ( Like Distributor/Whole saler ) by giving the Trade promotional discounts, if he sells will get the TPM discount with in the planned period .
Basically Campaign is using Mass advertise and TPM is to be targetting to the Particular BP to sell theire prodcuts by offering promotional discount.

  • Difference between life cycle manager and import wizard

Can any one tell me about life cycle manger. To my knowledge we use import wizard to move the data from from one environment to other. then what is the purpose of life cycle manager.
weather we need to install on the boe xi 3.1 server(solaris server) or do i need to install on the client machine. do we need separate licence to get this are is it free.

LCM enables you to store several versions of the same BOBJ object (eg reports). This is very helpful for development projects eg. if your testing phase fails you can rollback to an older version of your reports.
Regarding the license you have to ask your local SAP sales representative. I know that the license is normally bundled in BO license packages but only SAP sales can provide an official statement about this.
My personal recommendation: If you want to move a limited number of objects on-demand and fast then use the Import WIzard. Otherwise use the LCM.

  • Difference between a positive time and negative time management.Explain with screenshots.

    Hi gurus!
I would like to know the difference between Positive time management and negative time management.
    thx & regards,
    raju

    Hi Nagaraju,
    I am adding more information..
Whether or not an employee is on positive or negative time is determined by the time management status on IT0007. Status 1 or 2 = positive time; status 9 = negative time.
In a standard system, positive time recording means the employee is required to record time (absence or attendance) for any day on which he is scheduled to work according to his generated work schedule. Negative time recording means an employee does not need to record time unless he has an exception to his normal working time; so absences are typically recorded as well as overtime or time work on days for which the employee is not scheduled to work.
Schema TM00 is used to process positive time employees for whom clock times are entered; that is, every record has a start and end time.
Schema TM04 processes both positive and negative time employees. The key distinction between TM00 and TM04 is TM04 does not require start and end times on every entry. Records with start and end times cna be processed in TM04. However, the records do not require these entries.
In TM04 you will see code using IF, ELSE, ENDIF statements during the import process to separate the import of time data for positive and negative time employees.
Positive time employees use the following data import statements in the schema:
P2011 Import IT2011 records to TIP; regardless of whether the EE has IT2011, load the work schedule to TZP. If no IT2011 record exists, TIP is empty.
    P2001 Load absences
    P2002 Load attendances
Negative time employees use the following data import statements:
P2000 This is the critical difference between positive and negative employees. P2000 loads the daily work schedule to the TIP table as if the employee workede; that is, if the employee is scheduled to work from 8:00 to 17:00, this record will now appear on TIP. The work schedule details are also added to TZP.
P2001 Load absences -- to pick up exceptions to planned working time
P2002 Load attendances -- again to pick up exceptions, special costing information, overtime, alternate payments, premiums or any other variation from normal schedule work.
So if you want to determine if you are using positive or negative time, check the time management status on the employees.
    Regards
    Siva

  • Analytic Workspace Manager - Hierarchies within hierarchies

    Hi,
We have six levels of Sales Groups (SG) and two levels of Sales Personnel (SP).
    - SG1
    SP1- Sales Manager
    SP2- Sales Rep
    - SG2
    SP1
    SP2
    - SG3 ... so on and so forth
We want to have drill down capability on SG1 so that we see SP levels underneath followed by the next level Sales Group i.e. SG2.
My question is can we have hierarchies within hierarchies using Analytic Workspace Manager and can this be queried using Discoverer Plus for OLAP. If there is another way to do it, can someone please explain?
    Thanks again,
    -Esther

I am not totally sure what you are trying to achieve as I think you might be confusing members with levels. From an OLAP perspective we support two basic types of hierarchies
    - Level based
    - Value based (Parent-Child)
Within level based we additionally support:
    - normal
    - ragged
    - skip level
Normal implies that you have a hierarchy where the each member for each level always has a parent at a the next level up in the hierarchy. Ragged hierarchies are where data is loaded at different levels within the hierarchy and skip level is where parents within a specific level are themselves defined at multiple levels.
I am not sure if this answers your question, but you can find more information on how to manage hierarchies in the

    Creating Hierarchies

  • ETL with OWB and Workspace Manager with Analytic Workspace Manager?

I already created my dimensions and cubes with "warehouse builder", as a tables, so can I map them in the dimensions and cubes defined with "analytic workspace manager?
please somone help, becasue I can't found this information on a manual "OLAP application's developers guide".
also, whichis the manual that I have to follow to create things in AWM? i think is this that I use "OLAP application's developers guide"
    Someone can tell me something?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I.m using OWB 10.1.0.4.0 and choosing "Project" then "Metadata Export" and finally "Bridge" I can lanch a wizard that allow me to choose between 3 kind of export.
If you choose OLAP the wizard will ask you which collection of metadata to export and other options, after succesfully running this wizard (which is not so easy) you can open the AWM and see the export of your dimesion and cube iside an AW.
I'm finding lots of problems using this feature due to the limited options I can set to the cube and the dimension (type of aggregations, calculated measures, limit on the number of measures in the cube, etc.).
Waiting for the new OWB Paris if you can post your experience it will be very appreciated.
    Good luck,
    Franco

  • Difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL

What is the difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL in Reporting Service configuration manager in SQl Server 2008 Reporting Setrvices

Another way to put it is the Web Service URL is just that, its used for services that are connecting to issue API calls.  The Report Manager URL is the nice GUI that users should use.  If you click the links, you should see the difference.  I
am sure you have likely done that, but functionally one is for programmatic purposes and the other to be the front end graphical user interface.
    Sometimes pictures help as well...

  • Difference between analytic privilege and package privilege

    Hello Team
Please suggest me on the difference between Analytic privilege and package privilege . Since both the privileges works on package only . So what is the exact difference between them .
    Regards

    Hi,
SAP HANA have several categories of privileges such as system privileges, object privileges, analytic privileges, package privileges and application privileges.
For analytic privileges and package privileges, they are very different.
When you use analytic privileges, you can grant different users to see different data. For example you have an analytic view including some sales data and there is a column LOCATION. You can use analytic privilege to grant the sales in the east US to only see the sales data where LOCATION = "EAST" and grant the sales in the west US to only see the sales data where LOCATION = "WEST". This is just a simple example. In short, you use analytic privileges to grant different users to see different data.
Regarding package privilege, when you develop on XS projects, you can grant different package privileges to different users. For example, you have a package named "services" in your XS project. You can use package privilege to grant user A to only read the content under "services" and grant user B to edit/activate or even delete the "services" packages.

  • Differences between Hyperion Workspace, Web Analysis and Financial Reportin

    Hello,
Can anybody explain me the differences between Hyperion Workspace, Web Analysis and Financial Reporting?
    Thank you

    In real simple terms....
Financial reporting - Perfect for producing standardised monthly reporting such as P&L, balance sheets etc. Highly formatted, print well in PDF format.
Web Analysis - Highly graphical, web based analysis tool more suited to dashboards, pinboards etc with slice and dice capability.
Workspace - Common environment where reporting content in deployed. Users can access web anlysis, fin reports, Interactive reports plus other content through the workspace. It was the start of the 'log on to one place for all reporting' concept instead og logging on to multiple products.
    Hope that helps

    Hello!
I'm trying to connect from Analytic Workspace Manager, version 11.2.0.3.0a (latest one), to Oracle server ver. 11.2.0.4. Connection fails with following message "This version of Analytic Workspace Manager is incompatible with the database instance.". Is there a way to make this work? The solution I'm aware of is to downgrade a server. Maybe someone knows other solutions?

  • Invisible structure in Analytic Workspace Manager after importing from EIF

    Hello,
I got problem with migration OFA structure (6.3.4) to Oracle OLAP. My Oracle Database is 11.2 Enterprise Edition
    1. I've exported OFA database do eif file.
    2. I've created user in Oracle database, grant olap_user and created directory
    3. I installed Analytic Workspace Manager 11.2.0.3.0A
    4. After connection on Analytic Workspaces I run 'Create Analytic Workspace from EIF file ...' -> The import was succeeded
Here is the problem - there is no visible imported structure in the tree under Analytic Workspaces. I think that structures were properly imported. That Analytic Workspace is in the sql results:
    select dbal.owner||'.'||substr(dbal.table_name,4) awname, sum(dbas.bytes)/1024/1024 as mb, dbas.tablespace_name from dba_lobs dbal, dba_segments dbas where dbal.column_name = 'AWLOB' and dbal.segment_name = dbas.segment_name group by dbal.owner, dbal.table_name, dbas.tablespace_name order by dbal.owner, dbal.table_name
I've also tried using Analytic Workspace Manager Worksheet.
    AW CREATE OFA_TEST
IMPORT ALL FROM EIF FILE 'c/baza.eif' DATA DFNS
    UPDATE
    COMMIT
The results are the same :(
What else should be done ? can anyone pls help me on this??
    Grzegorz

    Grzegorz,
OFA to OLAP is not an easy thing if you are trying to do it by hand. That is why we built an OFA conversion utility into our product. Example time for Full OFA to OLAP/Escendo conversion is about three days for an OFA system of 300-400Gb, including data, processes (Solves) reports, saved selections etc.)
Part of the problem is that OFA is an application which uses a ton of back end catalogs which drive everything. It also makes very heavy use of saved selections internally which makes straight export and import tough.
The overall process is that all of the visible structures need to be created within OLAP so that they are visible. We support both 'public' (ergo visible, metadata based) objects as well as 'back end' structures which are not visible to the front end. If you need business logic translated over it can get complicated to do by hand as well, since things don't map directly into the way Oracle does things in AWM now, due to some differences between the architectures.
One of the great things about putting your OFA into OLAP is that everything becomes available to any standard SQL reporting application.
Our IDE is a full mulit-developer environment which allows multiple developers to work even within the same AW, for any operation, including creation of dimensions, measures etc. as well as the editing of code in programs & models.
Are you just trying to get the data in? or are you wanting to use the system like you would use OFA?
