Difference between  BOL and Genil Objects

Hi Team
Am very  new to  CRM.So pls let me know the difference between the BOL and GENIL objects and their respective importance.
Thanks

Hi,
The BOL and GenIL essentially refer to the layers that handles the user interface in SAP CRM.
The GenIL (Generic Interaction Layer) consists of one implementation class that always derives from one of the two classes and implements a set of methods to provide the functionality. GenIL is like a bridge between the backend APIs and the UI i.e. for
a given UI, it identifies which APIs need to be called and also re-formats data accordingly.
The BOL (Business Object Layer) consists of upto 7 different kinds of objects that are defined in a model. At runtime, the BOL layer will hold data that is used on the UI. BOL provides a consistent way of modelling data so that data access is consistent and the UI can also be built faster.

  • What is the difference between StringBuffer and StringBuilder objects

    hi ,
    Please tell me what is the difference between stringBuilder and stringBuffer classes ..why stringbuffer classes is used more with multiple threads but not stringBuilder which is faster than stringBuffer objects
    Thanks in advance

    Odd. You answer your own question by paraphrasing the first paragraph of
    StringBuilder's javadoc:
    This class provides an API compatible with StringBuffer, but with no guarantee
    of synchronization. This class is designed for use as a drop-in replacement for
    StringBuffer in places where the string buffer was being used by a single thread
    (as is generally the case). Where possible, it is recommended that this class
    be used in preference to StringBuffer as it will be faster under most
    implementations.
    Do you really have a question?

  • Difference Between Maps and Value Objects

    Hi Guys
    Can you please help me differentiate between HashMap and Value Object Design patterns. The trade offs of each and how to choose between the two patterns.

    It really depends upon what you really want to do:
    - If you want to transfer simple objects using their inherent structure, use your DomainObject itself or if you really need to, use a ValueObject
    - If you want to transfer a lot of similar or even different objects with unique keys, use some Map.
    Using a HashMap, you might need to consider:
    - The hashing can significantly increase your CPU load, if you are doing too much. For example you can define your hashValue() to return just the PrimaryKey, or it's hashValue() if it's an Object. And equals() needs only to compare the PrimaryKey as well. This semantic results in two objects being equal, if they have the same PrimaryKey. You may define an additional deepEquals() method, to see if an updated version contains changes to the stored version, if this is needed.
    - If you keep around references in a Map without clearing them, when you don't need them any more, the Map will increase in size. If you want to keep them, but only as memory alows, you might even consider using WeakReference<T>.
    Together with the rules provided by krunals, I hope this helped a bit...

  • What's the difference between a not-initialed object and a null object

    hi guys, i wanna know the difference between a not-initialed object and a null object.
    for eg.
    Car c1;
    Car c2 = null;after the 2 lines , 2 Car obj-referance have been created, but no Car obj.
    1.so c2 is not refering to any object, so where do we put the null?in the heap?
    2.as no c2 is not refering to any object, what's the difference between c2 and c1?
    3.and where we store the difference-information?in the heap?

    For local variables you can't have "Car c1;" the compiler will complain.That's not true. It will only complain if you try to use it without initializing it.
    You can have (never used, so compiler doesn't care):
    public void doSomething()
       Car c1;
       System.out.println("Hello");
    }or you can have (definitely initialized, so doesn't have to be initialized where declared):
    public void doSomething(boolean goldClubMember)
       Car c1;
       if (goldClubMember)
           c1 = new Car("Lexus");
       else
           c1 = new Car("Kia");
       System.out.println("You can rent a " + c1.getMake());
    }

  • What are the differences between inactive and active ABAP objects?

    Can anybody tell me what are the differences between inactive and active ABAP objects?
    In my opinion,  an active object is compiled and system wide available, that means the system do not have to compile the program again before run or use the object. While An inactive object is not system wide available and every time you run an inactive object, firstly the abap runtime will have to  generate a tempory runtime object and this inactive object can not seen by others.
    Am I right? Can anybody kindly tell me other differences?

    Hi,
    "When it is inactive, it is like it would not exist at all:" no - it's like it only exists to you
    "If we just saved that one means it is stored in application server not in database": no - the inactive version is also stored in the database. You can log off and log on and it will still be there, in its inactive status.
    "Only active objects can be executed.": no - inactive objects can be executed by you
    When you create or modify a program, it is inactive until you activate it.
    With a change, there are two versions of the program stored in the database - the active version (as it was before you made your change), and the inactive version. If you attempt to run the program, you'll run the inactive version - the one with your changes. Everyone else on the system will run the active version.
    In this way, you can make changes without affecting anyone else.
    Once you activate your program, then the inactive version becomes the active version.
    With a create, there is no active version, until you hit the activate button. This means ONLY you can run the program.
    An additional benefit of this model, is that if you make a change, save it, and then change your mind without activating, you can recover the active version into the editor, using version management.
    A downside is that sometimes you have to activate your change before you can test it, if it interacts with other, active, programs.

  • Use of Bol and Genil Programing

    Hi All,
    I am new to CRM, could you please explain what is the use of Bol & Genil programming?
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi Anil,
    The BOL and GenIL essentially refer to the layers that handles the user interface in SAP CRM.
    The GenIL (Generic Interaction Layer) consists of one implementation class that always derives from one of the two classes and implements a set of methods to provide the functionality. GenIL is like a bridge between the backend APIs and the UI i.e. for

    This is just a brief information - you need to go through details documents to understand this in detail. SAP CRM comes with a sample genIL implementation that can be found in CRM_GENIL_SAMPLE package. You can check this package to see how GenIL and BOL layers can be implemented.

  • Difference between Null and null?

    What is the difference between null and NULL?
    When is each used?
    Thanks,

    veryConfused wrote:
    There is a null in java, but no NULL. null means no value. However, when assigning value, the following is different:Although the empty String has no special role. Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • What is difference between Iterator and Collection Wrapper?

    Hi all,
                  I dont understand the actual difference between Iterator and Collection Wrapper. I observed both are used for the same purpose. Could any one please let me know when to use Collection Wrapper and when to use Iterator??
    Thanks,
    Chinnu.

    L_Kiryl is right.
    Collections support global iteration (through collection->get_next( )) and local iteration (through iterator->get_next( )).
    Each collection has a focus object. Initially, the first object has the focus.
    Any global iteration moves the focus, which is published by the event FOCUS_CHANGED of the collection.
    If you want to iterate on the collection without moving the focus (and without triggering timeconsuming follow-up processes) you can use local iteration. To do so, request an iterator object from the collection and use this to iterate.
    And one more advantage of using iterator: it takes care of deleted entities. If you use global iteration then when you reach deleted entity it will be an exception. But there is no exception with iterator in the same situation.

  • What is the difference between start() and run()

    Hi:
    what is the difference between start() and the run()???
    in my app, i have
    Console.debug( "starting thread to listen for clients" );
    _server = new Server( this );
    _server.start();
    _server extends Thread..
    why everytime i use server.start(); my app will terminate on it is own, even though in my servr.run() method, i have a while loop
    and if i call _server.run() explicitly in my code, that while loop will be in execution
    can someone let me know??
    thnx

    what is the difference between start() and the
    run()???start() is a method on Thread that tells it to start.
    run() is a method in the object that the thread executes.
    why everytime i use _server.start(); my app will
    terminate on it is own, Err.... I'm not convinced this is true. It'll throw an IllegalThreadStateException, if you try to restart an existing thread.
    If that's what you're saying.
    even though in my _servr.run()
    method, i have a while loopI don't see the connection. Are you saying that the while loop never terminates, and you don't see why the thread is terminating?
    and if i call _server.run() explicitly in my code,
    that while loop will be in executionIf you call server.run() explicitly, then run() will be executed in the same thread that you called it in.

  • Difference between BAPI and RFC?

    Difference between BAPI and RFC?
    also where to use BAPI and where to use RFC?

    Hi,
    BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
    The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
    Reading instances of SAP business objects
    GetList ( )  With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
    The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
    GetDetail()  With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method.  BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
    The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
    The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
    The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
    Delete( ) and Undelete( )  The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
    The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Cancel ( )  Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
    Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( )  The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

  • Difference Between HashMap and HashTable

    Difference Between HashMap and HashTable
    Please explain with an example

    I have a situation in Java Collection and i am not
    able to figure a good solution. I am scared about the
    performance and memory that wil be used
    I have 5 List objects with thousands and thousands of
    records in it. The List is populated by a database
    query using jdbcTemplate which return like 200,000
    records
    Each record is identified by POLICY_ID. They may be
    List with multiple records for a POLICY_ID
    I want to extract each POLICY_ID from all the 5 List
    and make a single List object for each POLICY_ID and
    for each List and pass it to a print job which will
    print the data for a POLICY_ID
    Example
    Let say we have POLICY_ID = 15432
    List1 has one record for 15432
    List2 has one record for 15432
    List3 has one record for 15432
    List4 has three record for 15432
    List5 has three record for 15432
    From the 200,000 records in List1 i want to generate
    a seperate list with 1 record for policy id 15432 and
    let name is Listperpolicy
    after this logic we have
    Listperpolicy1
    Listperpolicy2
    Listperpolicy3
    Listperpolicy4
    Listperpolicy5
    call print job ( Listperpolicy1, Listperpolicy2,
    Listperpolicy3, Listperpolicy4, Listperpolicy5)
    Please let me know
    Thanks a Lotttttttttdon't worry about performance until you've got a working application. second-guessing what the performance bottlenecks will be is futile
