Difference between co-product and By-product

Hi,
Can anyone tell me Difference between co-product and By-product with example?
What is their impact on costing?

Hi,
By-Product : By-Product is a Product Created While Making Production
1. The System Does not create a separate order item for each by-Product
2. The Material Valuation of a by-Product is always based on the price, specified by the price control in the material master
3. The by-product must be listed as an item in the bill of material of the main product .The bill of material item must have a negative quantity (for example ‘1 -’)
4. Byproduct has only the -ve quantity in BOM component, it does not go for joint production costing.
5. Movement type 531 to post the By-Product during Confirmation.
6. Settlement of cost is done to the header of the material
Co-Product :A co-product is a product that is produced in conjunction with other products. The system creates a separate order item in the production order for each co-product. As a result, it is possible to display actual costs at co-product
Settings: 1.) You have to activate check box in MRP2 view for co product.
2.) For co products we also need to define the apportionate structure with equivalence number for costing purpose, this will be done in "Joint Production" details in the same view. (30:30:20:20)
Prerequisite for the main product:
1.) The indicator Co-product must be activated in the material master of the main product (MRP area)
Prerequisites for a co-product:
1.) The indicator Co-product must be activated in the material master of the co-product (MRP area)
The co-product must be listed as an item in the bill of material of the main product
2.) On the Basic data tab page of the BOM item, the indicator Co-product must be activated in the field group General data

  • What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product

    HI Friends
What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product
What are the futures are availables in IS MIlls
    Regards

    Hi,
SAP R/3 is the central enterprise version. It is not specifically designed for any inducstry sectors and it can cater many of the industry types.
Is is developed for specific industries an for SMB's (small and medium business). It will have components specifically for the industry.
The SAP Mill Products component adds sector-specific functionality to an ERP system to satisfy the complex requirements of mill industries (e.g. metal, wood, paper, textiles, construction materials, and cable sectors).
These industry segments differ from others primarily in that the materials used have a large number of characteristics and variants. The materials in the segments listed above are also predominantly area-based (e.g. paper, textiles, plastic film) or length-based (e.g. cables, piping). Account must be taken of these material characteristics throughout the entire supply chain.
To cater for the particularities of these industry segments, SAP Mill Products features processes and functions that cover the entire supply-chain cycle – from product design and configuration, through planning, order processing, capacity planning and production, to final delivery. Additional functions are available in costing and inventory management. SAP Mill Products are also integrated into Quality Management, Financial Accounting, and Controlling.

I do video productions for a small local TV station. I use Final Cut Express to edit. I need a new video camera but am at a loss as to what to buy. I know I will get a digital camera but do not know the difference between just digital and digital HD. Also, I can not afford an expensive camera and need some advice on which of the available cameras would be best and also work well with a Mac. One last issue, I currently use a Panasonic #CCD camera that takes a tape. When I load video to Final Cut the audio and video are out of sinc. Go figure. Can anyone help with these questions. Karen

    Hello Karen,
If you are using Final Cut Express, then look for camcorders that are AVCHD camcorders.  Look especially for the AVCHD logo and specific mention of AVCHD in the specs.  Most of the major manufacturers produce good quality camdcorders - Canon, Sony, etc.
Also, be aware that there are a lot of "not quite AVCHD" camcorders on the market (sometimes they say they record video as MPEG4-H.264/AVC) - buyer beware!
Most everything you are going to find on the market today is HD, which stands for "high-def".
Regarding your question about the Panasonic camcorder, it's best if you post that as a separate question, and please identify the specific model camcorder and the Easy Setup you are using in FCE.

  • AppID during application update and Difference between app id and product id

    Hi
I understand once a app is in store it has a associated Appid. How does this differs from the product id?
During each app update does the product id's should be same?
or during the store certification process will the appid and the product ids be mapped?
How does the product id and App id differ if this is not the case?
Can you provide some article which actually explains what is the difference between XAP uploaded and xap after certification?
    Regards

    Hi
In that case the dev account from which the update is done will have the unique id or  appid  and the appid or the product id mapping will be always done by the store certification process.
I'm not clear on this part whether the developer who does the update of the app should update the id or the process which does the certification of the app as an update will update automatically do it?.

  • Difference between process order and Production order

    Hi Experts,
Can any buddy tell me the difference between process order and production order. Why process order is used for process industries. Why do we use recipe for it and routing for production order ?
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit
There is a difference between production order and process order.
Supposing a 10,000 lit tank is being manufactured in discrete manufacturing. You have to follow the necessary routing steps and can make by physically seeing its development stage by stage. For this type production you can have a production order.
In case of process of order if some chemical in a reactor is loaded with intial temp of 30 C and need to be heated to 80 C then there is phase change. Hence we use Heating as an operation and the change of temp is phase. For such type of process we process order.
Hope this is useful. Pl reward.

  • Difference between Material Repository and Product Repository

    Hi Guys,
Can you please explain the difference between the Product Repository and Material Repository.
    Thanks,
    Sandy.

    Hello,
The MDM Products repository is structured to maintain the "sell- side" of the organization, meaning these are the products that the organization sells.
The MDM Material repository, however, is structured to maintain the "buy- side" of the organization, meaning these are the raw materials that the organization buys in order to produce/ manufacture its products.
These differences are also seen in the schema -the data elements that are maintained for each repository.

  • Difference between Plannnig Horizon and Production Horizon

Hai Can somebody explain me the difference between "Planning Horizon and Production Horizon"?
Here is the text that led me to this question:
"If the <b>Production Horizon</b> of SNP is smaller than <b>PP/DS horizon</b>, the <b>planning horizons</b> of SNP and PP/Ds overlap with each other." In this horizon, SNP determines the receipts with most cost effective sources of supply and lot sizes and PP/DS receipts generated by SNP in more detail.

check the following entries in Product master
The SNP production horizon is maintained on the SNP 2 tab page in the product master (transaction /SAPAPO/MAT1).
It also appears in the PPDS tab page along with PPDS horizon
The PPDS Planning horizon and PPDS Production horizon are the same. PPDs only plans inside this Horizon.
What is outside the SNP production Horiozon lies in the SNP planning horizon. Actually thought the name is a bit misleading - SNP does not plan anything inside the production horizon.
If you do not enter a value or you enter the duration 0 for the PP/DS horizon, the system automatically uses the SNP production horizon as the PP/DS horizon during planning. Therefore, the PP/DS horizon is exactly the same length as the SNP production horizon and this means that the SNP and PP/DS planning periods follow on from each other seamlessly and without overlapping.
If the SNP production horizon is smaller than the PP/DS horizon, the planning horizons of SNP and PP/DS overlap. SNP and PP/DS can both use this overlapping period for planning.
A gap between the end of the PP/DS horizon and the start of the SNP planning period is a time segment that is neither planned by PP/DS nor SNP. This can lead to inconsistencies.
So think of two lines - one with its right side shaded(PPDS) and the other with its left side(SNP) shaded. Depending on where you place these lines the shaded sections get planned. how you get the two regions to mesh will ensure the effectivity of your plan
you can also get a better understanding looking at the product view screen and changing the product master values for the horizons and running heuristics

  • Difference between Time dimension and product(regular) dimenstion

    Hi All,
I would like to know what is the difference between time dimenstiona and regular dimenstion. How can we differentiate and how Oracle bi server knows a dimension
    as Time dimenstion.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
By using Logical Dimensional Structure and chronological keys it identify time or other types of dim.
Just double clik time dimension then you can find the
root type (Time, Ragged and skipped) and for the chronological keys > just double click logical level then select keys tab -- here u can find chronological keys
    Thanks

    Hi,
Normally, BOE / BI installers don't include any of those other EIM components. However, they are bundled in the 'edge' offering, which is licensed differently for smaller enterprises.
For all DI, DS, DQM topics,  which fall under EIM family, please open a thread over here: http://scn.sap.com/community/enterprise-information-management

  • Difference between Apple products purchased around the world

I travel/based all over the world and I have noticed the difference in prices when taking into account the exchange rate.
    Apple TV $99, £99, €102
If I purchased the Apple TV in one country (for example US or Europe) will it work on an English, UK TV, when I eventually return home?
Another question is whether products bought in one country can be used with other mac products purchased from another country.  Are they all compatible.
    Many Thanks

The only difference between an Apple TV bought in one location and in another is the plug at the end of the power cord. Any Apple TV you purchase in any location will work in another.
On the other matter, all hardware from any location is compatible with hardware from another. One thing you should remember however is that not all hardware has a universal aspect to it like the Apple TV, you should ensure that anything you purchase in one location will work on the voltage provided in another.
The main difference between Apple products from different locations is related to services, for example in the case of the Apple TV whilst the hardware is exactly the same, there are services for example which you might find in the US that aren't available elsewhere, such as re-downloadable movies.

  • What is difference between bus.Area and plant

    dear experts,
what is difference between bus.Area and plant?
    thanks
    Rajakarthik.

    Hi
Plant and Business Area are not the same.
Business Areas are configured in FI module as per the Product lines or geographical operations basis.
Where as The plants created in the logistics (General) module are assigned to the company code. That means all transactions taking place in the plants are posted to the attached company code in SAP FI.
You can post a business area to several company codes and use it for cross-company-code reporting.
The R/3 System uses a combination of plant and division to assign the relevant business area. When you use the R/3 System to automatically draw up accounts for business areas, you can assign only one business area to a combination of plant and division. Plants and divisions can be assigned and combined in several different ways.

    Hi,
The biggest difference is the 3D feature set is only available in Ps Extended CS5. Exclusive to Extended CS5 also are timeline for video editing, Dicom format support, Stack mode blending, analysis measurement tools, and some 32-bit painting capabilities.
Some things have changed for the Photoshop Extended CS6 version, mainly enabling more of the video editing features for both products.

  • Difference between Free goods and BOM (ERLA)

    Hi,
Could any body throw some light on the Difference between Free goods and BOM(ERLA) to clarify my weired thought.
AS of what i know is Free goods is 1:1 ratio.
The main item will be prices and sub item will be free .
Than same thing is also With BOM (ERLA)
    Regards,
    Venksys

    Hi Venksys
Please note as given below :
Free Goods : This function allows you to offer your customers a product free of charge in the form of free goods when a certain quantity of products is ordered. Free goods is a kind of quantity discount, and is granted in the form of a goods delivery that is free of charge when a certain quantity is purchased. There are Two types of free goods :
1.Inclusive : The customer only pays for part of the goods ordered. The rest of the products are provided at no extra cost. For example, a customer orders  for 3 bottels but pays for 2 bottels  and 1 is supplied free .
2.Exclusive - The customer pays for the goods ordered, and also receives additional products for free. The materials delivered as free goods will not be the same as that of ordered onces. For examples customer orders 5 bottels , but will receive 1 Bottle opener free.
BOM : It consists  of 2 or more items combined and sold as an package : Example : Combination of 1 Tooth paste  + 1 tooth brush  packed as BOM.
The Higher level Material ( BOM) is  not relevant for pricing but relevant for picking : The tooth paste and brush is relevant for pricing  and also can be sold independently : The Item cat group of the Header BOM material will be ERLA  and for Tooth paste and brush material the Item category group will have TAN.
For more details , please refer to the  link below:
