Difference between "Make Movie" & "Add to Render Queue"

I imagine there is at least a subtle difference between selecting "Make Movie" & "Add to Render Queue".
Can someone here explain?
Thanks
Rowby

It's very, very subtle, and it doesn't really matter.
The honest reason that they're both there is that Make Movie came first, before there was a render queue, and we just haven't gotten around to eliminating the redundancy.
The subtle difference that persists is that the first time that you choose the Make Movie command, it will prompt you for an output name for your file, so you don't have to click to set this in the Render Queue panel.

  • Difference between paste and add to movie

What's the difference between paste and add to movie?

So more than one track can exist in the same location. A very confusing (to me) editing process.
Yes, the MOV file con contain up to 99 tracks of data. For instance, if two or more video tracks coexist over the same time interval, they may be layered, masked and/or blended for various effects such as a framed movie, a movie-in-a-movie, movies with grapic logos, movies with watermarks, etc. In a similar manner, multiple audio tracks can be blended together. (E.g., a narration can be added over background music to a base move that already has its own audio track.)
Here is an a example of a "mulitple" track MOV file created from many a background/Xmas card foreground image and many scaled PNG photo images of family members:

NOTE: Plays in QT 7 Player app or a browser but not the QT X Player.

  • Difference between Import and Add in Itunes

Hi can Someone Explain the Exact Difference Between Import and Add files To Itunes , as I have done Both and They Both seem to Work for getting Music on to Itunes , However somewhere I am still getting Doubles songs even Though I have No Double files or songs in Music Files ..
so If someone Knows What is the Difference and What happens to the Files in Add and Import
    that would be Great
    Thanks mark

    Hi mark,
You should use "Add to Library" to add audio files and other type media files. The "Import" functionality should be used to add playlists and data files (XML file, for example). However, it's also possible to add audio files, using "Import" feature.
[This link|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301509] also explains when to use "Add to Library".
    Hope this helps!

  • Difference between Import and Add

Just curious what the difference between Import and Add File/Folder in iTunes is? I know consolidate will create a copy of your files and put them into the iTunes library.

    Import is for audio files.
Add to library is for MP3, AAC, Apple Aossless, aiff and wav files.
I know consolidate will create a copy of your files and put them into the iTunes library.
Close. The iTunes library what is in iTunes.
Consolidate copies the files into the iTunes music folder.

  • Difference between 2 MOV files

Hello - I have been working on two different projects. Both were shot with HDV tapes and exported to MOV files.
When I right clicked on each file and selected "Get Info" They both show up differently. Do you know why? or what the difference is?
I mean the "More Info" area show more info then the one on the right.
And here are the sequence setting for both.

    Hmm...give this a shot - (from   http://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/usermanual/index.html#chapter=95%2 6section=2%26tasks=true)
Choose Tools > Analyze Movie > File.
Choose a QuickTime file on your disk that you want to analyze, then click Choose.
    and
    Do one of the following:
Select one or more video or audio clips in the Browser.
Open a video clip in the Viewer.
Choose Tools > Analyze Movie > Clip.A Movie Analysis window appears, showing video, audio, and timecode track information. If more than one clip is selected, multiple Movie Analysis windows are opened, one for each clip.
This should allow you to compare the source file with the footage from the project file.  Hope it helps!

  • Make Movie vs. Add to Render Que

Is there any difference in selectioning Make Movie vs. Add to Render Queue from the Compostion Menu.?

Make Movie, when used for the first time after AE is opened, gives you the opportunity to name the output file and pick a location.
Add to Render Cue, when used for the first time, does not pick a location for the movie or ask for one until you specify it in the Render Cue.
Once you've picked the location to save the render there is no difference in the behavior. I've never understood why there are two menu items that do the same thing.

  • Difference between .mov files and .dv files?

I am normally a FCP 4.5 user but I just got the new Macbook Pro and need to capture some footage this weekend using iMovie. Is there any difference between the .mov files we capture with FCP and the .dv files captured with iMovie as far as compression or quality?
I've looked and looked but can't find the answer. Thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Hi there. can you explain this a bit more ?
"you can scrub audio over a .dv clip in a sequence"
and explain why the .dv video is so doggy in fcp hd?
so,you CAN NOT convert .dv to fcp - right? or .mov to fcp?- right
Here is my experience with iMovie, .dv files and
    FCP.
iMovie can be useful, because it breaks DV clips up,
and handles time code breaks - by ignoring them!
I had canon camera, which if I captured with FCP, the
audio would drift over the hour capture - it was over
a second out by the end of the tape, so I used iMovie
    instead.
Dropping .dv files into DV FCP sequences does not
require a video render or transcode - the original
image quality is maintained, but will require an
audio render to stop the audio 'beeping' during play
back - it seems an arbitrary limitation to me, you
can scrub audio over a .dv clip in a sequence, and
you can play audio when the .dv file is in the
viewer, but not from a sequence.
Then - it gets more annoying - every edit you do,
typically requires a re-render of the audio, if you
don't want the beeping, but there are two tricks
that can help: 1) make a sequence for each .dv clip,
unedited, render the audio in that sequence, then
edit that into the master sequence, or 2) use
'extract audio' in iMovie, then find the .aiff in the
Media folder, and replace the .dv sourced audio with
    that in the FCP timeline.
There is no re-capture, as Shane says, you have to
stay on disc forever, or risk having to tweak and
re-trim your project, if you hope iMovie will create
the same files on a future capture - I have never
tested that, my guess would be no.
Most of the folks on the board will dismiss such a
workflow - and with good cause - but its not totally
    useless, in certain circumstances.
I have not tried this with the iMovie in iLife '06 -
so your mileage may vary. Ideally, the beeping audio
from .dv would be fixed in FCP - I understand it is
harder to extract and play from a .dv file, but we
have fairly powerful machines, these days, and,
iMovie seems to manage just fine
    Good luck!
iMovie was what got me into Macs in the first place,
and after my first 'home movie editing appliance'
(also known as an iMac G3) I started to do less and
less on PC's, and have not tried to edit video on one
    since.

  • Difference Between  files in FCE -

I have the option to export in FCE to quicktime movie or export as quicktime format..... what is the difference and why?
I want to be able to play the finished project on a dvd for TV or mac/pc
    is one better for quality?
Does one compress it too much?
    thanks

Did you even take a look at the article I linked to?
    From FCE, do this:
    1. Export -> QuickTime Movie (uncheck self-contained)
    2. Bring that QT movie into iDVD
    3. Make your DVD and burn it
iDVD will encode the QT movie (reference movie) to DVD for you. Read more about the difference between reference movies and self-contained movies in the article by Larry Jordan. You don't have to worry about fitting the file on the DVD your self. As long as the video duration is under two hours (160 minutes), iDVD will take care of the compression.
In iDVD you can choose between Best Performance and Best Quality. I would go for Best Quality. In iDVD, choose the Project-menu -> Project Info. Make sure you select the right Video Mode (NTSC for the US, PAL for Europe), and choose between the two quality options.

  • Difference in price movements for 601 and 602

    Hi,
When I look at the transaction CKM3N, I see that in consumption, for movements 601 and 602 is not telling the difference in price of materials generated in the Ledger.
How do I tell the difference these movements in the Consumer Price?
    Regards,
    Cristiane.

    Hi Christine,
You can check the movement of goods in T-Code OMWB for each movement type through simulation. It will give you the accounts assignment through which you can check the movement type wise goods movement and see the problem while assignment and difference between the movement type. Observe price is moving through accounts to Consumer Price.
Reply if you have any problem.

  • I have an IMac intel  OS x 10.8.2, I would like to know what is the best program to use to make movies and burn them to a DVD???

What is the best program to use that will be compatable with a IMac intel OS x 10.8.2, that will allow me to make movies, add music then burn it to a DVD.  The program I have now, will make the movie but will not burn it???

    You want iDVD.
Purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.

  • Which: Export AE Render Queue ? PP Export Media ? Media Encoder?

The output of my PP and AE project ( combined video and animation ) looks terrible when exported or queued in PP or the CS5 Media Encoder.
It renders slow and has shown poor performance in the Mac OS X Activity Monitor.
When output to the AE queue ... the project looks great,, encodes super fast, and 'finally' shows awesome performance in the Activity Monitor.
I spent too much time trying different settings before I tried the AE renderer ... which, by the way, is buried away in the Compostition Menu under Add to Render Queue.
First, It is standard to output as a File command .. so there should be a Export / Save As ... > to the "Render Queue" .. and who cares what a 'render queue' is .. all I want to do is save file "A" in format "B".
So ... basically , my question is / are:
Why does both the PP Export and CS5 Media Encoder produce such bad results?
    and / or
What are the correct settings for PP Export and CS5 Media Encoder to produce excellent results matching the AE Render Queue?
Why do you have multiple inconsistent, confusing and dysfunctional Exporting / Saving options?
Seems that the CS5 "Media Encoder" should be junked and replaced with whatever engine is running inside the AE renderer .. and all other Export / Save / Add to Render Queue / and God knows what else you guys call it ...  should be routed to the new Media Encoder.

    Thanks again as always Todd.
I just can't get some of this ... just when I think I'm getting somewhere .. blam.
Why is there a "com.adobe.dynamiclinkmanagerCS5" in my trash ( Mac OS X ) every time I turn on the machine?
There are posts here at Adobe and one on Creative Cow Discussions .. but no one at Adobe answers.
    "Why?"
I have a huge plugin problem and yet again I will have to reinstall the system software and CS5 to get it to work long enough so I can spend time trying to figure out the vocabulary to explain to you, Apple, and CoreMelt what is going on. It seems to be within Dynamic Link.
Do you have a 12 Core Mac OS X?
Would your tech with a 12 Core Mac running OS X 10.6.6 install CoreMelt Plugin V2 - Lock & Load?
Would your tech explain to whomever needs to figure it out why / what doesn't work .. and fill in the blanks at Adobe?
Would someone explain it to me?

  • Difference between MTO and CTO

    Hello All,
What is the difference between Make-to-Order (MTO) and Configure-to-order (CTO) conceptually and technically in terms of planning strategy, item category and master data setup.
    Thanks in advance
    George

    George,
??? You can't see any differences?  I just re-read through the configuration guides within the links that I previously cited, and I must say that, to me anyway, there are substantial differences.
At any rate, if you have gone through Best practices docs, and you feel that you now have a good understanding of MTO vs CTO, and you still don't see any differences, then I guess that is what you should be putting in your presentation.
    माया (Maya)
Sages have written that we live within a dream, and the existence that we know is actually our personal interpretation of a Universe that is, in the end, unknowable.  Perhaps in your reality, MTO and CTO have no differences.  I hope your audience shares that reality.
