Difference between plan, actual and target in order

hi
plz tell me ans.
In the manufacturing order WHAT is the difference PLAN, ACTUAL and TARGET.
In the CK11N, we will estimate plan cost for one finished product but in order we are taking 2 costing variant that is PRODUCTION ORDER PLANDED (PPP1) and PRODUCTION ORDER ACTUAL(PPP2) . in the ORDER calculation which is taken as an account and tell me their functionality separately
thank u
sowmya

Plan Cost means this is the cost of Product or Material or Activity or any others statistical price which we estimate and Plan prices for organizations future activities.
Actual cost is the original/Actual cost we incurred for Product or Material or Activity or any other.
Target cost are the costs that are expected for a certain operating rate. It is the dynamic value which will be calculated on the basis Operating rate (Operating rate = (Actual activity / Plan activity) X 100), and It is a consistent basis useful for comparisons of the plan and actual costs of a period.
Ex:
we plan $110 per hour of Labor activity.
but we incurred $125 as actual cost.
for this Target cost is (125/110)*100=113
We use Costing variant for plan to calculate plan price of Order.
when order is created system posts planned costs to the order according to standard cost estimate of product, which uses the planned cost variant.
when the production is carried out Actual costs are posted to the order using Costing variant for actual. when order is completed system uses this two values to calculate the variance of production order. which can be settled to FI.
Hope U got...

• I need to know the difference between planned SKF and Actual SKF from business view and when I can use one of them ?

I need just to know the difference between plan SKF and Actual SKF in business example and when I use one of them.
thanks

Hi Salaam,
Statistical Key Figure (SKF) is a base to allocate the cost between cost centers. Usually, common cost centers cost should allocate to respective department cost centers on monthly basis.
Some of SKFs are: Calculating floor rent on SFT, Telephone charges on No. of units, and employees head count is with "Each" in SAP.
Apart from Ajay's reply, you can consider the Canteen exp in an organization. Assume Admin, Fin and Mfg departments are getting food services from Canteen. Here, total monthly cost of Canteen exp should be allocated to respective departments. Here, we use SKF as total head count of each department and distribute the cost.
Planned SKF is what you planned on the beginning of a period. (Assume head count was planned as 30 in the month beginning)
Actual SKF is what exactly you consumed over the period. (Actual employees provided canteen services during the month is 25)

• Difference between Planning Version and Simulation Version

Hi friends,
What is the difference between Planning Version and Simulation Version?
Thanks,
Debi

Debi
There are a lot of threads in this forum that give detailed info about version concept. Also you can refer to help.sap.
Anyways , planning version is the version against which your live cache data is stored. The data against this version is the one that the planners and buyers are going to refer to or use to make their planning and buying decisions. Data against the planning version is nothing but data relevant to the business .
There may be instances where you would like to simulate some scenario. If you want to do trial and error analysis and at the same time if you do not want to impact the actual business data , then you create simulation versions and simulate your scenario.
For example your actual sales orders received for the month of March may be 100 CS. This is the actual number that will be stored against your planning version. Lets say the demand planner wants to find out what will be the impact if there is a sudden bulk demand from a new customer for 500 CS - that is if he wants to do a what - if analysis then he can create a simulation version and try to check the impact .
Thanks

• What is the difference between Planning cycle and Delivery cycle?

Hi gurus ,
After created the planning calendar for store , I have the same option value for planning cycle and delivery cycle (planning calendar) in the MRP area data for site specific material master , so what's the difference between these two field ?
Thanks in advance ,
Ryan

Hi,
If you have to deal with more complex situations, you can define a delivery cycle in the material master record in addition to the planning cycle. In so doing, you determine the days on whichthe vendor delivers his goods. The delivery cycle is entered in the material master record as a planning calendar in the Planning calendar field.
You enter a delivery cycle if the delivery date (or the goods receipt date) depends on the day on which you order the goods. For example, you carry out the planning run and place your orders on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you place the order on Monday, the delivery is made on Wednesday, if you wait until Tuesday to place the order, the delivery is not made until Friday
Where as Planning calander is Three character number (numeric or using letters) that specifically identifies a PPS-planning calendar. The difference between Planning calender and delivery cycle is If you have selected the MRP type "MRP" and have set a period lot-sizing procedure according to planning calendar, you enter here which planning calendar is to be used.
If you selected the "time-phased planning" MRP type, the planning calendar that you specify here defines the delivery cycle. This specifies the days on which the vendor delivers the material. You can enter the planning cycle in addition to the delivery cycle

AS,
Can anyone clarify me how Planning Calendar is different from Factory Calendar?. When do we maintain Planning Calendar?. Does we need to follow any steps in configuring Factory Calendar?
I guess you must have overlooked the rules of engagement. It is customary in these forums for questioners to first perform basic research before posting any questions.
First, search in the forums (search box in the upper right of this page).
Next, check online help. This help is generic. For instance,
Planning Calendar

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/2a/fa00c2493111d182b70000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
Next search in one of the standard online search engines (such as Google).
If you have performed all of these tasks, and studied all of the online help that is supplied for free by SAP, then consider posting a question to these forums.
If you are unwilling or unable to perform such research, then you should probably engage a consultant to assist you.

• Difference between Plannnig Horizon and Production Horizon

Hai Can somebody explain me the difference between "Planning Horizon and Production Horizon"?
Here is the text that led me to this question:
"If the Production Horizon of SNP is smaller than PP/DS horizon, the planning horizons of SNP and PP/Ds overlap with each other." In this horizon, SNP determines the receipts with most cost effective sources of supply and lot sizes and PP/DS receipts generated by SNP in more detail.

check the following entries in Product master
The SNP production horizon is maintained on the SNP 2 tab page in the product master (transaction /SAPAPO/MAT1).
It also appears in the PPDS tab page along with PPDS horizon
The PPDS Planning horizon and PPDS Production horizon are the same. PPDs only plans inside this Horizon.
What is outside the SNP production Horiozon lies in the SNP planning horizon. Actually thought the name is a bit misleading - SNP does not plan anything inside the production horizon.
If you do not enter a value or you enter the duration 0 for the PP/DS horizon, the system automatically uses the SNP production horizon as the PP/DS horizon during planning. Therefore, the PP/DS horizon is exactly the same length as the SNP production horizon and this means that the SNP and PP/DS planning periods follow on from each other seamlessly and without overlapping.
If the SNP production horizon is smaller than the PP/DS horizon, the planning horizons of SNP and PP/DS overlap. SNP and PP/DS can both use this overlapping period for planning.
A gap between the end of the PP/DS horizon and the start of the SNP planning period is a time segment that is neither planned by PP/DS nor SNP. This can lead to inconsistencies.
So think of two lines - one with its right side shaded(PPDS) and the other with its left side(SNP) shaded. Depending on where you place these lines the shaded sections get planned. how you get the two regions to mesh will ensure the effectivity of your plan
you can also get a better understanding looking at the product view screen and changing the product master values for the horizons and running heuristics

Hi Ajay,
Delivery date means its the original date on which the delivery should be done.Actual goods Issue date is the date on which goods to be delivered according to the purchase order. There can be delay in the delivery so we maintain 2 objects.
Yes delivery date can be greater than Goods Issue date.

• Whats the actual difference between Business system and Business service

whats the actual difference between Business system and Business service

Business System
1) Business system is a logical system, and there is an importance on physical existence of the system.
2) Also SLD entry is required.
3)It is generally used for SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.
4)This is defined as part of the SLD and is a physical system whose parameters are well defined.
5(Business systems refers to the physical systems, for instance the R/3 system. You define the business systems in the SLD
Business Service
1) You use a Business Service, when you do not have the System details of the the partner system to which you want to communicate. i.e. you have not configured the partner system in SLD.
2) Business Service is an Absract Unit with Sender and Receiver Interfaces,In this case you need to explicitly add the message interfaces while doing configuration in ID.
3) It is generally used for NON-SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.
4) This is not defined as part of SLD and whose technical parameters are not completely known.
5)Business service is used when the message is not addressed to a business system. It is used mostly in B2B scenarios.

• Difference between delivery related and order related billing

Hello Friends,
Kindly explain the difference between delivery related and order related billing with an example. Thanks

The billing relevance is controlled by item category of material, which u have assigned to sales document type.
For example
1.item category –TAN
Billing relevance is –A- Standard-Delivery-related billing document
So in standard order of material which has to get delivered, we will bill it on its delivery. So billing relevance is delivery related billing.
2.BVN
In cash sales item category is BVN whose billing relevance is Relevant for order-related billing - status acc.to order qty.
So here we will bill the customer from sales order only, no need to go to delivery.

• Difference between Simple maintanence and Export mode and Organisation plan

Hi all,
Can any one please explain the difference between Simple maintanence and Export mode and organisational plan in SAP easy access.
Thanks & Regards,
Naga

Expert Mode Infotype Maintenance: This interfaces allows you to edit individually selected objects in OM (Org Units, Positions, Jobs) via infotypes.
Expert Mode: Simple Maintenance Interface (PPOM_OLD) is used to quickly create a new Organizational Plan. As a user, you can pretty much maintain large volumes of data very easily ( i.e create several objects simultaneously), without having to go through the more "Performance Intensive" Org and Staffing interface.
In accessing the Simple Maintenance interface to create your org structure, the initial screen requires you to specify which evaluation path you want to create your org structure.
Organizational Plan: This is what provides you with a complete picture of an enterprise's environment. It comprises elements (objects like Org Units, Positions, Jobs etc) which are used as building blocks for creating an Organizational structure.
