Difference between R/3 and CRM systems

Hi,
I want to know difference between R/3 and other systems like CRM, SCM. Shall we need XI to integrate them..
I think that CRM,SCM are the modules of R/3 is correct..
What kind of applications they are...
Thanks,
RamuV

Hi Ramu,
As you said they are R3 Applications only.
can be connected with the help of XI.
CRM uses BDOCs but XI can only deal with IDOCs. So when you will be working with BDOCs of CRM, then in CRM you will have to create custom IDOCs for the corresponding BDOCs and then you can have File-IDOC and IDOC-file scenarios working via XI to communicate between your CRM server.

  • Difference between business service and business system in SLD

    hi all,
i m very new to XI. can anybody tell me that what is the basic difference between Business Service and Business Systems?
Is it necessary to use them? and if yes then when to use what?
    Thanx.
    Regards,
    Kunjal......

    Hi Kunjal,
In SAP XI every system in your landscape with which you are interfacing is defined as Service.
The service can be your Business service or Business system.
Generally SAP systems are referred to Business system and you define them in the SLD before you import them.
The Business service is a logical name referring to any system in your landscape.
To communicate with any third party application you need to create communication channels which are associated to your service.

  • Difference between SAP MI and CRM Mobile Sales

    hi experts,
we need to understand difference between SAP MI and CRM mobiles sales solutions. what are SAP's  recommendations: where to use MI and where to use Mobile sales.
can some of you explain the pros and cons of each solution or let me know the place where i get such info.
    thanks in advance.
    RH

SAP MI apps are aimed at PDAs while CRM Mobile Sales is aimed (and can only work with) at laptops.
PDA solutions are mostly used by sales agents while the laptop solution is more suitable to account managers. The laptop has much more information available that includes:
    - Marketing planning and execution capabilities
    - Account Planning
    - BW Reporting
Mobile Sales for PDAs has more basic functionalities like order & activity management and business partner data maintenance (which are also included in the laptop version).

  • Stop the Sales Orders flow between R/3 and CRM systems.

    Hello Experts,
I am facing one middleware related issue.
I am creating a quotation and Order in Crm system an those are replicated to R/3.
But I am creating some orders in r/3 and those are alos replicating to CRM, I want to stop the flow of Orders between R/3 and CRM.
Please let me know where I have to do the changes.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What Debolina suggests would stop flow of Orders from CRM to R3.
But what i learn from your post is :
you wanna stop Orders flowing from R3 to CRM.
If m coorect in above, then teh solution for you is different:
You have to filter out the orders.
    Goto: R3AC1
    Select object : SALESDOCUMENT
Goto Filters tab and set the filter as desired.
This would stop the flow of Orders from R3 to CRM
Kindly reward with points in case helpful

Upgrade from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0 (BI 7.0)
Some features of BI 7 are
    1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

  • Diff between Business service and Business System?

    HI Experts,
Pls let me know wht is the difference between business service and business system??
when we will have to go for business service and when for business system??
    thnx in advance..
    New XI

    Hi,
Difference between Business Service and Business System are :
    1) Business sytem require all details like login user id
password require to create but in case of business service
log in details does not require..
    2) A Business System  is purely for SAP-Systems and
    Business Service for Non-SAP systems
    3) Business service refers to any business applications where
as the business system is defined in SLD(System Landscape
    Directory)
    4) When we have full details of application system the we are
going to use the business system and it is created in the
SLD so we dont have authorization to change the business
    system name.
When we have partial details or no details of Technical
system then we r going to use the business service. it is
created in the ID. we can see and change it.
    5) A Business system is something that physically exists
For example, if u want to download a file from a system
ABC, by using file adapter and then want to update the
content of this file into r/3 database by using RFc,then
the system  abc and the r/3 will be ur business systems
i.e. they physically exists. Business Systems are
    configured in SLD.
Business service is mostly usedin B2B Scenario (cross-
component),where you don't know the Business System of your
partner. In other words business Service will be used only
for those partners which do not have a physical landscape
set up . Business servces do not have an entry in SLD.
    6) A Business Service is an Abstract Unit(which is not in
System Landscape Directory) addressing Senders and
    Receivers of Messages.
Physicals systems which use their communication channels
and routing rules to communicate with other systems are
called as Application Systems OR physical systems.
    7) In simple when u going for A2A integration then we define
our Technical systems are Business system. If we r going
for B2B integration then we dont know the complete
information about the other end Business Landscape so, we
configure it as a Business Services. Business system are
created at SLD. Where as a Business Services are created at
    Integration Directory.
    8) Business systems:
These are logical senders or receivers that exchange
messages by using the Integration Server and that are
entered in the System Landscape Directory.
The business systems in the System Landscape Directory
relate to a system landscape. The business systems of
business partners are therefore not entered in the System
Landscape Directory. To be able to address such business
partners logically, use communication components in the
Integration Directory. A business system is a way of
specifying a communication component in the Integration
Directory more precisely (business system component).
    Hope this will hwlp u..
    Regds,
    Pinangshuk.

  • Difference between Business Partner and Customer Master repository

What is the difference between Business Partner and Customer Master repository ?
Is the Business Partner repository to be used in case CRM is also in landscape ? or Customer master repository is good enough ?
    Sandesh

    Hi,
If the landscape has both CRM and SAP ECC a business partner repository model should be good.
If it has ECC alone.a Customer Repository is needed.
But when there are many legacy systems which also contains master data fields, the standard business repository provided by SAP wont provide a good solution as it wont cover the legacy master fields..In this case its better to go for a customized repository and you can use the standard repository as a reference.
    Thanks

  • Difference between AS Java and Java Add-in

    Hi Guys
Can anybody explain me the exact difference between AS Java and Java Add-in? How can I identify a SAP ABAP system is installed with Java Add-in or AS java?
    Regards
    Dharmendra

    Hi,
    >and if usage is ECC/CRM etc then you go for dual stack installation.
Wrong ! The official SAP advice is now to use dual stack only for the systems where it is not possible to do otherwise : PI and SOLMAN. Check the new ERP master guide.
Personnally I would advice strongly to avoid dual stack systems for ECC/CRM or BI.
We have a dual stack BI system (because at the time, SAP adviced it) but 2 years later we regret it a lot.
Dual stack system are a mess to manage, administrate and patch.
This is exactly what I call a "false good idea" !

  • What is the difference between R/3 & SAP CRM

    Hi,
Please explain the difference between R/3 & SAP CRM

    Hi Abhishek,
R/3 and CRM are two completely different systems. R/3 is the leading system. CRM is like a child system of R/3. R/3 interacts with many other systems.(like SRM ,SCM, CRM etc).
Not all functionalties of R/3 will be available in CRM.
CRM has functionlaities whch are more customer oriented where we can capture all customer related data where R/3 is a system where backend processing happens EG: Billing.
For Eg: you create a sales order in CRM and then send it to R/3 for billing purposes.
The communication between R/3 and CRM is done by a technology called Middleware. You can refer to the below link for this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm50/helpdata/en/c3/95fc381478ab6fe10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
You can refer to 'help.sap.com' and under 'SAP Business Suite' you will find 'SAP Customer Relationship Management' which gives you comprehensive view about CRM.
CRM has various releases like 4.0,5.0,6.0,7.0(7.0 being the latest). You will find all the details about CRM under the above path.
Also if your search in the web you will find lots of articles on CRM and R/3.
    Thanks,

  • Difference between SAP PSCD and tax and Revenue management

    Hi All,
I am new to SAP industry solutions for public sector and am actually trying to understand the new systems. Can anyone please tell me the difference between SAP PSCD and SAP Tax and Revenue management ? Please revert.
    Thanks in advance,
    Shakuntala

    Hi Shakuntala,
PSCD is an industry add-on on top of SAP ERP FI-CA (Contract Accounting), which is part of SAP ERP Core.
Tax & Revenue Management is a Public Sector industry solution, which utilizes PSCD to enable some of its key processes (e.g. account management and collection management). However, TRM as a business solution also make use of other modules and systems (e.g. CRM).
The initial development of PSCD was strongly driven by Tax&Revenue Management, therefore people usually have hard time to differentiate between the two terms. But now PSCD is also used by and enhanced for other SAP Public Sector solutions like Grantor Management or Social Services.
