Difference between SECRETARY & EMPLOYEE Roles in SRM
Hi Experts;
We are using SRM 7, classic scenario
What is the difference between the below 2 roles? I made role copmarison and found some differences but I am not sure which role to be assigned to which user.
SSS_SAPSRM_SECRETARY
SSS_SAPSRM_EMPLOYEE
Thanks
HI,
The role /SAPSRM/SECRETARY is an additional function specific role similar to /SAPSRM/MANAGER for example. These function specific roles include only authorization for the specific topics needed for this function. Beside this roles all users will also need the /SAPSRM/EMPLOYEE role to be assigned to them. This role contains all necessary authorizations for creating shoping cart und must be assigned to all employees who are intended to use the shopping cart functionality.
Regards,
Guilherme.

Difference between Sales employee and Employee responsible
Hi,
Can somebody explain the difference between sales employee and employee responsible
Thanks in advance
Reddyhello, friend.
both sales employee and employee responsible have employee numbers and fall under partner type "PE".
an Employee Responsible is a more general term and could refer to someone who is supposed to maintain documents, who may be dedicated to service a customer or a set of customers, a credit employee or a quasi-manager. he can even be a sales employee.
a sales employee or sales personnel is more specific. usually this refers to the salesman who has a defined set of customer accounts. the sales employee is also specifically tracked in Sales Info System (e.g. t-code MCTI). this position carries the SAP standard code/partner function of "VE" (in German).
hope this helped you.

Difference between profile and role
Can any explain me the difference between profile and role.
I was given a user Id on ABAP stack of XI.
My profile: SAP_ALL
I was not assigned any roles.
I am not sure if I need different roles or this profile
would serve the purpose.
-Naveen.Hi Naveen,
Adding to Gus points a few more inputs.
Profiles were the menas of assiging authorizations to users until 4.0 Versions.
Later to the same it was upgraded to the concept of Roles. The crux always remains the same.
Be it a profile or a role, it contains the Auth Object and the respective values.
But in present scenario, you can get confused by the profiles that are assignable to Users.
IN short the following points can be helpful.
1. The profiles like SAP_ALL;SAP_NEW,S_SPO_ALL etc are standard Profiles delivered by SAP which when assigned to a user in his profile in SU01 would get all the related authorizations.
( You must be lucky to have SAP_ALL assigned to ur ID by ur basis guy)
2. A role is created by assigning a few transactions to this role and when this role is generated, it generates a PROFILE. But this profile is a system generated one and cannot be ever assigned to any user. These profiles can be sorted out as they have the standard naming like T-XXXXXXXX where they are the numbers and it can never be assigned to any user.
3. Note prior to 4.0 its all Profiles that are assigned to users and later to the same came the concept of Roles and hence this change.
Hope the answer is helpful in making u undersand a few inputs form my side.

Difference between Groups and roles?
Hi All,
What is the difference between groups and roles?
Thanks for your time and help.Oracle does not have anything called a 'group'.
A role is a named object that can contain a set of privileges. The members of the set can be individual privileges or can be another role that contains its own set of privileges. Roles can then be granted to users (or to other roles) so that those users (or roles) have the specified privileges.

Difference between ID and Role based Administration - Firefighter 5.3
In GRC AC 5.3 Firefighter, security guide, there are two sections for role design,
1. Firefighter Role based Administration
2. Firefighter ID based Administration
Can someone explain what is the difference between the two?
I have read the documentation, but it does not have a clear description of the
differences between the two.
Please help.
ThanksHI Prakash,
Though both of them eventually achieve the same function, that is giving access rights to the user for a certain period under monitring these differ based on the following:
1. Firefighter Role based Administration
You identlfy a particular role as a firefighter role and give it to the user.
2. Firefighter ID based Administration
You create a separate user altogether and give the normal dialog user, the access to this user's authorization.
For the implication that both of these have and the differences or comparisons between using 1 & 2, I would suggest you do a bit of Mock testing for both of these. Also, there are a lot of posts related to this on the forum already, which you can refer to, for getting a more detailed idea on this topic. Unlimately, it depends on organization to organization which methodology they folow as per what suits them, according to features which both have. But generally what is preferred is Number 2.

Hi,
Can anybody of you help me out with the following-
Differences between the two approaches
fresh SRM install vs upgrade with kernel upgrade and patch application. Which approach is better and why?
Your help will be highly appreciated.
Its very urgent.

kavita
Message was edited by: kavita agrawalIt depends on your Project Requirement. If you are upgrading your current version with any new version, then you will have to upgrade the system.
If you are implementing new version, then you will have install fresh and then upload the data from Old System.
You need to check your project. (Upgrade or Implementation)

Difference between roles for PROCUREMENT EXECUTIVE & COMMODITY MANAGER
Hi
What is the technical and funcational differences between the roles SAP_XA_PROCUREMENT_EXECUTIVE and SAP_XA_COMMODITY_MANAGER?
When doing role comparision in backend BW there is no difference, Moreover in PFCG upon checking the authorization data for respective roles there are no authorization objects
Regards
NeelHi Neel,
There is no technical difference between the 2 roles.
Like Ricardo mentioned they are used for differentiating functional / business roles. So one role could give access to a sub-set of reports & dashboards and the other role could have access to a completely different set of reports & dashboards. To control this access in the SPM application you would create different folders where you would store the reports & dashboards and then tie the roles to these SPM folders, when users are granted the roles they would be able to see the appropriate folders.

GP difference between Portal Role GP Administrator and Process Role Admin
Please explain the difference between the Portal Role "GP Administrator" and the Process Role "Administrator"
In the CAF-GP Security guide, it says that the Process Role "Administrator" can "Maintain process instances using the GP administration tools". What does this mean?
If a user has the Portal Role "GP Administration" and he DOES NOT have the Process Role "Administrator" for ANY process, he can still maintain ALL of the process instances from the Administration workset. He doesn't need to have the Process Role "Administrator" assigned to him.All three have the same Admion rights.
They are the default users created when you are creating a domain.
If not used or edited they are a major security risk!
If you just use say weblogic or portaladmin and do not take care of changing the password or security privilige (changing the group from Admin, or deleting this user if not required) of yahooadmin then anyone knowing the admin url can login with this default username and its default password.
I would personally prefer creating custom users and remove the default users.

Difference between role and profile
Hi All,
I need to know the difference between role and profile. Kindly let me also know
relevant T codes. Can Profiles exist without roles? If yes please let me know how to create them.
Thanks in Advance,
KalyanKalyan,
A role is basically a container of authorizations and other related items.
A profile contains the actual authorizations once a role is generated. In addition a profile can be created from scratch using the classical method--transaction SU02. Roles are created via transaction PFCG.
Also take a look at the following threads:

Difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP
Hi experts,
Could you point out the difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP in SRM? What is its significance both in classic and extended classic scenario?
Thanks,
MadhurHi,
CLEAN_REQREQ_UP:
It checks whether the backend documents (namely-PR/PO/RES) have been created in the backend systems. Deletes obsolete table entries in SRM as well as updates document numbers in the Shopping Cart. You can't process the SC in SRM until this updae is complete.
BBP_GET_STATUS_2:
It ensures that the information on the back end documents is upto date. Retrieves the updated information from the BE systems (for exaple-it retrieves PO number after it was converted from a PR)
Above reports are mandatory both both Classic and ECS.

Difference between administrators and users
Hi,
I just created a new site for my client on Business Catalyst, using Adobe Muse, and would like to give my client acces to the sites tools. The site has settings for creating User Roles. What is the difference between an Administrator role and a User role. Are there limits on how many Administrators and/or Users there can be? Thanks.
Edit: I think I'm getting a few ideas on how it works from this link http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/using/site-users.html#id_37324 but still not sure. I gather from the thread that there is a limit of 3 administrators. Does this include administrators plus users to total 3? Thanks.
Barbara"Administrators" and "Users" are two different (and default) User Roles <http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/using/user-roles.html> on a BC site that distinguishes between a site admin/user's role or access permissions. Every BC site irrespective of it's plan has 3 admin/site users <http://www.businesscatalyst.com/pricing/monthly> that can be later upgraded to a higher number from the Partner portal for non-trial sites that are under BC standalone subscription <http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/kb/detailed-plan-breakdown.html#id_32561>.
