Difference between Sub-Equipment & Equipment BOM

Can Anybody Please tel me the difference between Sub-Equipment & Equipment BOM ?
Since both are Sub-part of the Equipment , on what basis these two items are differentiated ?

Sub-equipment:
Suppose there is a overhead cranes in a coal yard, and your client mapped coal yard as functional location and cranes as eq-1 in SAP.
but a overhaed crane has many equipment like -
1. LT motor (long travel)
2. CT motor (cross travel )
3. gear boxes
so u can categorise all above equipment as sub-equipment in SAP and each sub-equipment having one superior equipment as eq-1 (crane no. 1)
Eq BOM:
Equipment BOMs are used to describe the structure of equipment and to assign spare parts to equipment for maintenance purposes.
simply, what are the components and quantity being used to make this equipment.
electric motor having component like
1. bearing
2. nut-bolt
3. casing
4. armature
5. winding
6. carbon brush
like may be more than 50 components.

  • Difference between Free goods and BOM (ERLA)

    Hi,
Could any body throw some light on the Difference between Free goods and BOM(ERLA) to clarify my weired thought.
AS of what i know is Free goods is 1:1 ratio.
The main item will be prices and sub item will be free .
Than same thing is also With BOM (ERLA)
    Regards,
    Venksys

    Hi Venksys
Please note as given below :
Free Goods : This function allows you to offer your customers a product free of charge in the form of free goods when a certain quantity of products is ordered. Free goods is a kind of quantity discount, and is granted in the form of a goods delivery that is free of charge when a certain quantity is purchased. There are Two types of free goods :
1.Inclusive : The customer only pays for part of the goods ordered. The rest of the products are provided at no extra cost. For example, a customer orders  for 3 bottels but pays for 2 bottels  and 1 is supplied free .
2.Exclusive - The customer pays for the goods ordered, and also receives additional products for free. The materials delivered as free goods will not be the same as that of ordered onces. For examples customer orders 5 bottels , but will receive 1 Bottle opener free.
BOM : It consists  of 2 or more items combined and sold as an package : Example : Combination of 1 Tooth paste  + 1 tooth brush  packed as BOM.
The Higher level Material ( BOM) is  not relevant for pricing but relevant for picking : The tooth paste and brush is relevant for pricing  and also can be sold independently : The Item cat group of the Header BOM material will be ERLA  and for Tooth paste and brush material the Item category group will have TAN.

  • Difference between sub-query and corelated subquery

    Hi,
can anyone please give me the clear difference between sub-query and coreleated subquery with an example.
I am very much confused with the both.
Also please let me know in which cases/situation these are used.
    Thanks,

Basically Sub Query is Query within Query. There are different type of SubQuery.
    1. Scalar Sub Query
Query that is totally independent from the main query.
select empno, (select count(*) from emp) total_emp
from emphere the subquery is totally independent of the main query.
    2. Corelated Sub Query
The sub query reffers to the main query.
select empno, (select deptname from dept d where e.deptno = d.deptno) deptname
         from emp e3. Inline view
A sub query that is used as a table or view in a SQL
    select *
      from (select empno, deptname
              from emp e, dept d
             where e.deptno = d.deptno)
    where sal > 100

  • Difference between qualities

    hi,
I do not know if this is right place to ask this, and I appologize for it
I live in Georgia, here is not an official retail store of Apple. But I am always buying Apple products in some other shops, that are not official reselers.
I wonder is there any risk that such store may sell lower quality versions of Apple, is there any difference between Apple product sold in USA and in other, less developed countries?
in many other branded products there are some differences between countries and I would like to know if this is same for Apple.
additionally I do not understand why some Air notebooks have Samsung displays and some LG. is there any quality difference?
    Thanks in advance

There is no difference between the equipment that Apple gives their own stores and other authorized resellers. Once it is at the store, there is a possibility that resellers could try to re-sell returned products. Hopefully, such actions would eventually result in their losing the authorized reseller status. I'm sure the further into the hinterlands you get, the more likely such practices might be.
Apple sells an enormous number of machines. For some components, one supplier may not have enough capacity to satisfy Apple needs and they may buy from different vendors. There should be no noticeable differences between equipment from different suppliers.

  • Diff between Equipment BOM & Metrial BOM

    HI Gurus,
Could anyone tell me what is the difference between Equi BOM & Metrial BOM?
And also In PM,which one will effectively used?
Any help will appreciated with points.
    Regards,
    Vijay

The difference is that the equipment BOM its refered to an equipment. In general, i use this kind off BOM for representign the stucture of the equipment, particulary spare parts. They are design specifically for PM module.
Material BOM, instead, are usually a description of all the components that area part of a particular material. They are not only use in PM, but for PP, MM, etc.
You can use a Material BOM as part of Equipment BOM.
    Example:
    Equipment: Pummping system,
Eq. BOM: Pump, filters, Engine, etc.
Material BOM Pump: Part A, Part B, etc,
    Hope this help

  • Difference between Asset and Equipment

    Hi All,
Can someone tell me the difference between Asset (Created using AS01) and Equipment (Created using IE01).
    Thanks,
    Rock

    Dear Rock,
Asset is a financial entity managed by SAP-AA (Asset Accounting) component. Though, it has some logistic data to manage (and one can always add user-defined fields) its main purpose is to manage fixed assets as a part of the company's financial statement by applying different tools like depreciation, capitalization, retirement etc. Equipment, however, is a logistic entity which allows you to manage the logistic flow for your assets, by tracing the place of installation, managing repair/service orders, parts of equipment, etc. An equipment (or several equipments) could be linked to a financial asset. It's important to emphasize that not every equipment is a financial asset, and not every financial assets is an equipment even if you are about to implement both AA and PM in your SAP project.

  • Difference between Equipment deletion and deactivation

    Hi Experts,
    Greetings
Can somebody clear me that what is is the difference deactivation of equipment and flag for deletion of an equipment
    Thanks in advance.
    R.A.Kiran

    Hi,
If u mean to stop reversing it then .. i believe u should be able to do it via User status ..
You should have a user status that gets activated with business transaction Mark for Deletion - You should make this as SET
& for business transaction Remove deletion Flag - You should make this as Forbid .., the lowest and highest status nos should be same - means once this status is there the user status will not go to other status ..
I was able to do it in my system -check it

  • Deletion flags for equipment BOM

    Hi,
In equipment BOM header , there are 2 fields for deletion flag :
-one is set manually (the one on the right)
-the other set by the system (the one on the left).
Can someone explain to me how deletion flag indicator (on the left) work?
    Thanks,
    P.

    Hi,
To explain this i must say first there is a difference in the Deletion Flag (Right in Header) and Deletion Indicator(Left in Header).
In SAP term The deletion Indicator shows the item which has already been Deleted from the System and Deletion flag shows that the record has been flagged for deletion and will hence be Archieve (when, depends on the Archieving strategy followed in the company).
To explain the affect these will have is the Deletion Indicator will not allow you to use the and will show the error as the object has been deleted and is not in the system.
    Deletion flag for BOMs
Indicator: this BOM will be archived during the next archiving run and, if necessary, deleted from the data base.
Where as the Deletion Flag will show that the object is ready to be archieved and is set to be deleted.
    Deletion Indicator
Indicator showing that the BOM header or the BOM item has been deleted with reference to the change number.
Now there is another difference in the way we can amke the objects active from deletion flag anf the deletion indicator.
For Deletion flag you have to go to change mode and just remove or untick the deletion flag.
For Deletion indicator you have to go to Archieve table and pull the object back in to SAP system and it will then show only the deletion flag, which can be removed by the way explained above.
I hope this was helpful, if yes then please award points.
    Regards
    Anoop

  • Should I use Sub-Equipment Hierarchy for sub-systems (first post)?

I am 2 months into the maintenance manager role for a fleet of Locomotives and it has been decided to use SAP PM by senior management based on a separate business arm requirements.
I believe for this to be successful the first step is to get the structure right so that data is collected in the most logical manner.
I intend to use SAP to schedule all maintenance tasks based on measuring points and dates of previous work orders, capture system and sub-system failure history, capture costs and parts usage and trend performance of subsystems based on their own and system level measuring points.
I have been told that all locomotives are assigned to a single functional location within the business model. The individual locomotives themselves are assigned as separate pieces of equipment in this functional location.
Within the individual locomotives there are a series of subsystems that have associated maintenance requirements based on time and usage and they are serial number tracked. These items are exchanged between the locomotives and the warehouse upon failure, upgrade or overhaul and include:
    AC traction Motors
    Wheelsets
    Diesel Engine
    Main Generator
    Auxiliary Generator
    Dynostarter
    Gearbox
    Compressors
    Traction motor blowers (Fans)
Radiator fans and AC radiator fan motors
Is it logical to put these as sub-equipment within an Equipment Hierarchy with the Locomotive being the superior equipment?
Should notifications regarding their failure be assigned to the Superior Equipment (Locomotive) or the Sub-Equipment and what are the implications of each? If assigned to sub-systems can I still report on system reliability by "rolling up" the failures?
Do the measuring points (e.g. kilometres) assigned to the Superior Equipment (Locomotive) accumulate to the Sub-Equipment automatically and does installation and removal from different Locomotives with different kilometres affect this? For example a traction motor in Locomotive 001 is installed from 100,000 to 360,000 locomotive kilometres and then it is installed in Locomotive 002 from 300,000 to the current 340,000 locomotive kilometres. Does SAP accumulate 300,000 kilometres of life to the traction motor sub system based on its superior equipment's measuring points?
I have many more questions to come that I will most likely solve through experimentation and future questions, but in order to hit the ground running I would appreciate your feedback if any of you have similar experiences.
    Thanks in advance
    Glenn Sanders

In SAP, you can define "N" no. of hierarchies for Functional Location & Equipment.
But in the reporting, you can get the costs at Functional Location level & Equipment level at next. Its not possible to have Sub Functional Location level or Sub Equipment Level.
Also, you have mentioned that you will interchange the Sub components between Locomotives. Also, you want to maintain those using Serial Numbers. You can define these Sub Components as Assemblies with Serial Numbers so that Equipment can be created for those combinations.
To maintain Measuring Point for Sub Components, Equipment should be created. In SAP, you have the option to transfer the Measuring Points from One Equipment (Superior Equipment) to another Equipment (Sub Equipment).
While interchanging the Sub Component from One Locomotive to another Locomotive, without Measurement Reading Transfer, you can dismantle & install the same.

  • LSMW for create Equipment BOM

    Hi Experts,
I have created a LSMW through "Batch Input Recording" method to upload materials to Equipment BOM.
It caters to upload 5 materials per equipment. However if input data contains only 3 materils for a equipment then LSMW gives an Error. Have to enter 2 more materials to the BOM.
How can i overcome the matter?
Is there any other method that i can follow to upload the Equipment BOM?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
    Use standard Object

    0001Method
    main Structure  : BOMHEADER
    Sub Structure : BOM item

  • Regarding difference between item category TAQ & TAN price relevant in BOM

In Bills Of Materials in MAIN ITEM-- TAQ is price relevant & In SUB ITEM --TAN is price relevant.so what is the difference between them

    Hi Kalpataru,
The settings for TAQ and TAN are the same in standard system. You could check it in VOV7.
Normally we provide two sample standard item category groups for BOM creation.
If you are using item category group ERLA in materail master, then the BOM will be created as following:
    Main Item TAQ (Pricing)
    Sub Item TAE   (no pricing)
And if you using item category group LUMF, then the BOM will be created as following:
    Main item TAP (no pricing)
    Sub Item TAN (Pricing)
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks and best regards,

  • Sale of Equipment with sub-equipment attached

    Hi fellow members,
We have a business scenario where two different serialized materials are assembled into a single composite unit and sold to the customer. The single unit sold to the customer also has a serial number on it. We are required to track the serial numbers of the individual components as well when the main unit is sold.
There is a sub-equipment option that could be used to attach the individual serialized devices to the main equipment. However, seek the following inputs from you:
    a. Is there a way where the equipments can be attached to the main equipment master record automatically when the composite unit has been produced ?
    b. If we sell the main unit, the system status of the equipment record gets recorded as ECUS. Will this also change the system status of the sub-equipments to ECUS ?
    c. What is the approach to be used if we would like to create one composite unit from two individual materials without the use of a production / sub-contracting order ? Can this be done via a direct movement type ?
    Appreciate your help
    Regards
    Rohit Zalani

    Hi
The scenario you described is a production process & if you map it through PP order processing it can be tracked through its cycle. However you have following alternative as workaround-
    1. Create the finished material as equipment with serialised material & with construction type feature.
    2. Create a material BOM of the main material & you will get a structure of two material.
    3. Component material can be serialised for their own identity.
    4. You maintain the equipment master if required for the main equipments, no need to creatre equipment view of the component material.
    5. Further your question- If we sell the main unit, the system status of the equipment record gets recorded as ECUS. Will this also change the system status of the sub-equipments to ECUS ?
Ans- No equipment status are maintained individually
    Regards
