Difference between UPLOAD and WS-UPLOAD?

hi,
I think upload is using classes and ws_upload is outdated. If iam wrong plz tell me the answer.

Hi ,
You use UPLOAD OR WS_UPLOAD it doesn,t make much difference But both of them are obsolete in the updated versions like 4.7 and ECC 5. If you use these functions a message will be displayed saying 'the function ........ is obsolete do not use it' . There is a function module by name 'GUI_UPLOAD' which can be used instead. Try it, there will not be any obsolete message.
Rewards are precious, only if helpful.

  • - Differences between delta and full uploads of transactional data

    Hi All,
This is with refrence to the loading transactional data into the cube.
I know that delta and full uploads of transactional data into the cube is done for the following reasons.
    1. Delta upload allows change in transactional data (add/delete/modify) for the particular period selected but this is not the same in full upload.
    2. Full upload takes less time compared to delta upload for the particular period.
Please let me know whether my understanding is correct. Otherwise, please explain these two concepts with examples taking loading transactional data  into the cube.
    Regards,
    Ningaraju

    hi,
full upload is done to avoid more time to load the data .if u use initilallization then it will take more time to laod the same amount of data when compared to full load.
however your statement about the delta is correct.
u can perform delta only after sucessful initiallization.
    so
    1.first full load(to avoid more time0
    2. inirtilallization with zero recored.
    3. delta

  • What is the difference  between ws_upload and gui_upload

what is the difference  between ws_upload and gui_upload
what is the difference  between ws_download and gui_down load
    pls tell  briefly

    Hi Kuamr,
UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD, the function modules used until now are not part of the standard set of ABAP commands. They are used to display the file interface on the presentation server. UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD are not compatible with USs and have been replaced by GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD.
The new function modules, GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD, have an interface that also allows you to write Unicode format to the local hard drive. For a description of these interfaces, refer to the documentation for each function module, available under SAP Easy Access " Development " Function Builder " Goto " Documentation.
Instead of using the function modules, you can use the static methods GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD of the global class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.
    Hope this resolves your query.
    Reward all the helpful answers.

    Thankx.
HR deals with the INFOTYPES which are similar to Tables in General ABAP.
There are different ways of fetching data from these infotypes.
There are different areas in HR LIKE Personal Admn, Orgn Management, Benefits, Time amangement, Event Management, Payroll etc
Infotypes for these areas are different from one another area.
storing of records data in each type of area is different
LDBS like PNP are used in HR programing.
Instead of Select.. we use some ROUTINES and PROVIDE..ENDPROVIDE.. etc
and in the case of Pay roll we use Clusters and we Import and Export them for data fetching.
On the whole Normal ABAP is different from HR abap.

    InfoSets in the HR Application
You can use SAP Query in HR to report on HR data. Queries are maintained as described in Creating Queries. The special features of queries created for HR are described in Maintaining Queries in the Human Resources Application. The maintenance procedure for HR InfoSets differs from the described procedure inasmuch as HR data fields are grouped together in infotypes.
InfoSet management in SAP Query is also used for InfoSet Query. For further information, see Functions for Managing InfoSets.
If you want to create InfoSets for HR, you can use logical databases PNP, PNPCE, PAP, and PCH (see HR Logical Databases). The database you must use to create your InfoSet depends on the component in which the data you want to report on is stored.
The reports you can execute using InfoSets based on logical databases PNP (or PNPCE) or PCH are similar, but differ in that they can select different objects. The following table describes the connection between the logical database, and the infotypes you can include in an InfoSet. It also provides you with one or two examples of reports that you can execute using the appropriate InfoSets.
    Logical database PNP/PNPCE* PCH PAP
Selection of Persons Objects from Personnel Planning Applicants
Infotypes that can be included in the InfoSet Infotypes for· Personnel Administration (0000-0999) · Time Management (2000-2999) · Payroll infotypes · Infotypes for Personnel Planning objects that can be related to persons If the object type is specified:· Infotypes for the object type · Infotypes for objects that can be related to the specified object typeIf the object type is not specified:· All infotypes · Infotypes for Recruitment (4000-4999)· Some infotypes for Personnel Administration (such as 0001 and 0002)
    · Customer infotypes
Reporting examples · Selection of all persons who participated in a specific business event, output of prices for reserved business events · Selection of all persons assigned to a specific personnel area, output of qualifications held by these persons · Selection of all business events held in London in March, output of all persons who participated in these business events · Selection of all positions assigned to a specific organizational unit, output of all persons assigned to the positions · Selection of all applicants hired last year to work on special projects, output of addresses for the applicants selected
Logical database PNPCE (PNP Concurrent Employment) functions just like logical database PNP. The procedure for creating InfoSets is also the same. It only becomes significant if you work with Concurrent Employment.
    Creating InfoSets
The maintenance procedure for HR InfoSets differs from the procedure described so far in this section inasmuch as HR data fields are grouped together in infotypes. To set up an InfoSet for the HR application, proceed as follows:
    1. On the initial screen for maintaining InfoSets, enter a name for the InfoSet and choose Create.
    2. On the next screen, enter a name for the InfoSet and select one of the HR logical databases in accordance with your reporting requirements.
Customer infotypes can be created on all HR logical databases. In each individual case, therefore, you must decide which database to select so that you can report on customer infotypes.
This screen enables you to enter an authorization group. All of the queries that are subsequently created using this InfoSet can only be executed by persons who have this authorization group.
    3. Choose .
This takes you to the Infotype Selection for InfoSet  screen. You now have the option of creating field groups and assigning fields as required for non-HR InfoSets. Field groups that correspond to infotypes and already contain fields, however, are always created for HR InfoSets. The field groups are displayed in an overview tree in the top right section of the screen.
The infotypes that you included in the InfoSet are displayed in an overview tree on the left of the screen. The infotype fields that are already included in field groups are displayed in a different color, and the corresponding field group ID is displayed.
In the standard system, a field group is created automatically for each infotype that you included in the InfoSet (a field group corresponds to an infotype).
In the standard system, each field group contains the infotype-specific fields. To ensure that working with the InfoSet is as easy as possible, you are advised to restrict your use of fields in each field group to those you really require. This means you should remove fields that are not required.
An infotype's fields must only be assigned to the pertinent field group. Make sure this assignment is correct. If the assignment is incorrect, the InfoSet could be rendered unusable.
When an InfoSet is created, the following fields are transferred automatically to the first field group:
§ Logical database PNPCE or PNP Personnel number
§ Logical database PAP Applicant number
§ Logical database PCH Object ID, plan version, and object type
    6. Determine the fields that must be included in the field groups of your InfoSet. If you require further information, see Assigning Fields to a Field Group.
If you want, you can change the default sequence of field groups and fields as required using Drag&Drop.
    7. To save the InfoSet, choose .
    8. To generate the InfoSet, choose .
On the Change InfoSet (InfoSet name) screen, you can choose Edit ® Change infotype selection to add more infotypes to the InfoSet, or to remove infotypes from the InfoSet. Remember to regenerate the InfoSet afterwards.
This screen also enables you to update InfoSets if, for example, the system contains new additional fields for specific key values. To do so, choose InfoSet ® Additional functions ® Update additional HR fields.
    9. Go back to the initial screen for InfoSet maintenance.
    10. Choose User group assignment.
    11. Select a user group, and save your entry.

  • Can any one tell me the difference between VK11 and MR21

    Hi Folks,
I have changed price of a material using VK12.
When I go to the transaction MR21, it is still showing the old price.
Can any one help what is the difference between VK11 and MR21.
And i which scenarios these two were used?
    Thanks in Advance
    Gopi Krishna

    Hii,
VK11: This is price master record to determine the sale price or discounts or freight or taxes which we going to charge to the final customer.  Through this transaction we will determine the price automatically either in sales or billing document.  These transaction is only applicable for sales & distribution module for determining the pricing for customers.
The price determined through this we use in revenue realisation.
MR21: Through this trnsaction Finance or Cost users upload the cost of the material.  The cost is
Standard Cost or Moving average cost.
Cost= Raw Material CostProcessing Cost(product process cost )Overheads(employee salaries)
This cost is maintained at each material master in accounting view either standard cost or moving average cost.
These cost is determined for every material movement within the company.
Example: Production, transfer posting, goods issue- system post the quantity and at the same time system create an inventory entry i.e accounting entry for the transaction.  In this accounting entries, system consider the values from material master for generating accounting entry.
If you upload production for 10 MT of material A and in material master if kept the cost of the material as 1000 then the accounting entry in production time as
                  Finish Goods Dr          10000
To Cost of Production Cr        10000
These cost also determined sales transaction through VPRS condition type.

  • What is the programming (ABAP) difference between Unicode and non Unicode?

What is the programming(ABAP) difference between Unicode and non Unicode?
Edited by: NIV on Apr 12, 2010 1:29 PM

    Hi
The difference between programming in Unicode or not Unicode is that you should consider some adjustments to make on the Program "Z" to comply with the judgments Unicode Standard.
In the past, developments in SAP using multiple systems to encode the characters of different alphabets. For example: ASCII, EBCDI, or double-byte code pages.
These coding systems mostly use 1 byte per character, which can encode up to 256 characters. However, other alphabets such as Japanese or Chinese use a larger number of characters in their alphabets. That's why the system using double-byte code page, which uses 2 bytes per character.
In order to unify the different alphabets, it was decided to implement a single coding system that uses 2 bytes per character regardless of what language is concerned. That system is called Unicode.
Unicode is also the official way to implement ISO/IEC 10646 and is supported in many operating systems and all modern browsers.
The way of verifying whether a program was adjusted or not, is through the execution of the UCCHECK transaction. Additionally, you can check by controlling syntax (making sure that this asset verification check Unicode).
The main decisions to adjust / replace are (examples):

  • Can anybody give me the difference between Catt and Ecatt

    Hi gurus,
Can any body give me the difference between catt and ecatt.

    Hi,
I think this is new technology in sap.
I know little bit of this can u go through this.
eCATT (extended Computer Aided Test Tool)
    What is eCATT?
eCATT is an SAP Testing Tool used to automate & test business scenarios in R/3. Each test generates a detailed log that documents the test process and results. If the testing is smooth without any errors, this means that the business scenarios mapped in R/3 are correct. If the test results in error then the problem can be analyzed using the error log that is generated.
eCATT enables automatic testing in SAP GUI for Windows and SAP GUI for Java.
    Features of eCATT:
Following functions can be performed using eCATT:
    Test transactions, reports and scenarios.
    Call BAPIs and function modules.
    Test remote systems.
    Check authorizations (user profiles).
    Test updates (database, applications, GUI).
    Set up customizing tables.
Test the effect of changes to customizing settings.
    Perform load testing.
    Check system messages.
Integrated with Test Workbench, so allows proper management of scripts using SCAT transaction.
    Supports CATT migration to eCATT.
All eCATT Objects are Repository Objects. Therefore one can take advantage of Standard SAP Transport Tools.
eCATT Objects can easily download & upload in XML with XSD format.
There can be several versions of Test Scripts, which allows different implementations with different releases.
The separation of Test Scripts, Test Data & System Data allows for a considerable degree of reuse.
    Why eCATT?
CATT is no longer supported by SAP for the creation of new developments. Hence all the test scripts developed in CATT are now need to migrate/Update to eCATT. Comparative to manual testing, the following are advantages of using eCATT:
Due to automation, testing time is reduced to a large extent.
Due to automation, less manpower is required for testing. This helps financially.
Due to automation, manual errors are reduced to large extent. Hence results in error free testing. This helps, as no further problems will occur while the usage of R/3 system by end users and hence increases the efficiency.
Proved to be extremely useful in implementation projects.
In regression testing, automated test scripts are an ideal method of quickly detecting errors. Automatic test logs make it easy to reproduce test results, enabling fast analysis and planning of further activities, leading to cost savings for the customer.
    Differences between CATT and eCATT?
Till date, CATT could only be used with the R/3 system. eCATT (which is available with SAP Web Application Server 6.20) covers the automatic testing in SAPGUI for Windows and SAP GUI for Java. For other GUIs and Applications, eCATT provides an interface for external tools. This allows companies to perform automated tests from an SAP system in a complete IT solution landscape across system boundaries. These new options enable complete automation of solution landscapes under standard Windows and Web-based user interfaces- resulting in low-cost operation of an IT Solution.
eCATT (extended Computer Aided Test Tool)
    eCATT requisites
Web Application Server (WAS) 6.20 or more.
    SAPGUI 6.20 or more.
R/3 4.6C or more. (Target system must have sufficient support package level (Details available in SAP Note 519858) or SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.7).
Before creating Test Scripts using eCATT, some system settings need to be done:
    Maintain table T000.
    1.      Go to transaction SM31
    2.      Enter T000 and chose MAINTAIN.
    3.      In the Change View “Clients”: Overview screen, select the relevant client and choose “Details”
    4.      In the “CATT and eCATT Restrictions” field, select “CATT and eCATT allowed”.
    5.      Click on SAVE.
    Enabling scripting at the Front-end
    1.      On any SAP GUI screen, choose “Customizing of Local Layout”.
    2.      Choose Options
    3.      Choose “Scripting Tab”
    4.      Select “Enable Scripting”
    5.      Click Apply and then OK.
Enabling Scripting on the Application Server
    1.      Go to transaction RZ11.
    2.      On the Maintain Profile Parameters screen, enter sapgui/user_scripting.
    3.       Choose Display.
    4.      If the Current Value is not set to TRUE, then click on Change Value:
    5.      Enter TRUE in the “New Value”.
    6.      Click on SAVE.

  • Difference between Scheduled and released with respect to process chains

    HI All,
I am Creating a cube in whcih I want to upload the current status of the process chain.
And the requirement is not to take those process chains whcih are scheduled and not released( only take those process chains whcih have status released)
for the same I dont know what is the difference between Scheduled and Released in respect of process Chains and also from whcih Database table I can get this information.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Ujjwal

    Hi,
Job Status Scheduled means a job has been created and is ready to run but has not yet been triggered.
A release status means the created job has been triggered and is waiting for the opportunity to run. A job can be in released status when it is a periodic Job ( Where once the job is completed it goes to release status), when it is slated for future execution, or when there is a delay due to database overload.

  • Difference between LIS and Lo extraction

    Hi,
Wat is the Difference between LIS and LO extraction.
    Thanks,
    Sanu

    HI
One good difference between lis and los is
lis uses transparent tables where as los use cluster tables
ust some infos about LIS flows....
with Plug-In 2001.2 S2xx-Structures have been replaced by Logistics Extraction Cockpit. However, R/3 releases 4.x support S2xx-Structures and Logistics Extraction Cockpit in parallel.
With new LBWE extractors there are a lot of benefits:
    - Detailed Extraction: extraction can be deactivated (e.g. Schedule Line Data) leads to leaner extractors with less volume.
    - Document Changes: only BW-relevant data changes will be updated (less upload volume).
    - LIS-Tables are not updated reduced data volume due to avoided redundancy.
    - Update with Batch-Process (V3) -> no load on daily business (but now there are available different delta methods as the direct delta...)
    - No LIS-Know How necessary.
    - Functional Enhancements easy to be done.
    - Central, uniform maintenance tool for logistics applications (LBWE)
    - No Delta-Tables (SnnnBIW1/-2) no double update, no double Data-Storage
    - A lot of flows are covered: Purchasing,Inventory Controlling, Shop Floor Control, Quality Management, Shipment, Sales, Shipping, Billing, Plant Maintenance, Customer Service,
    hope this helps

I purchased Imatch a few months ago-but I do not understand the difference between imatch and icloud.  I have an Ipad, Iphone and appletv and am because I am not Tech Savvy at all, when I googled imatch vs icloud, I was completely overwhelmed with info and just want the basics!!!
    Thanks guys!

First, iCloud and iTunes Match (not "iMatch") are not the same thing. Apple uses the term "iCloud" interchangably, but that is just confusing for most people, unfortunately.
Enabling iTunes Match is as simple pulling down the Store menu in iTunes and selecting "turn on iTunes Match." That's all the guidance there is. The process will then scan the iTunes library and "match" or "upload" all the tracks it can. The original tracks on the computer's internal HDD stay right where they are and are not changed in any way. Nor is the location of the iTunes library magically changed to the cloud.
I strongly suggest you stop being concerned with what the files in the iTunes Media folder look like and let iTunes manage the files. If you're going to use iTunes then you should only interact with the music through iTunes. Trying to manage the files in the Finder/Windows Explorer is only going to frustrate you. You can group albums together by editing the ID3 tags by highlighting the tracks of an Album and doing a Get Info...
So if you post back with some specific questions we will do our best to help you.

  • Difference between Smartforms and Sapscrits.

    Hi Experts,
I have a interview coming up next week and I was just wondering: difference between Smartforms and SAPscripts..
So experts, can anyone please let me know what are the main differences between Smartforms and SAPScripts??
I will really appreciate your answers.. guys..
    Regards,
       -Ashok Patel.

    Hi,
    <b>Difference with SMARTFORMS vs. SapScript(SE71)</b>
The Following are the differences :-
    a) Multiple page formats are possible in smartforms which is not the case in SAPScripts
    b) It is possible to have a smartform without a main window .
    c) Labels cannot be created in smartforms.
    d) Routines can be written in smartforms tool.
    e) Smartforms generates a function module when activated.
    f) Unlike sapscripts (RSTXSCRP), you cannot upload/download Smartform to your local harddisk.
It was said that it was provided in CRM 3.0 version, but not available in R/3.  You can download smartforms into Local PC in a XML format.  In the same way you can upload this XML format into Smartform.  From the smartform editor itself you can call download option, if you are working in CRM 3.0 environment.
In R3 also, you can download into XML format. However, it's not sure about uploading. Refer to the program 'SF_XSF_DEMO'.
In 4.7 Enterprise, other have seen this utlity which is completey missing in 4.6c. There is functionality to downlaod a complete form or only a particular node. (Utilities -> Download form). It will create a XML file and save it in the hard disk.
For others, if you want to download/upload the Smartforms source, you will need the help from the Basis people.  What you can do is to create a Transport and then FTP down to your local harddisk.   When you need the Smartform source in another system, you have FTP up the Smartforms file back to the SAP server.  Finally, the Basis team, will tp it into your system.
    g) The protect and endprotect command in sapscript doesn't work with smartforms. For example on a invoice: First data of position no 80. is printed on page one, other data of position no 80 is printed on page 2. And there's nothing you can do about it.  Actually, there is something you can do about it.  By using a folder node and checking the 'protect' checkbox, everything in that folder will be page protected.
    Check the link,
    <u>http://www.sap-img.com/smartforms/sap-smart-forms.htm</u>
    <b>Conversion of SAPSCRIPT to SMARTFORMS</b>
SAP provides a conversion for SAPscript documents to SMARTforms.
This is basically a function module, called FB_MIGRATE_FORM. You can  start this function module by hand (via SE37), or create a small ABAP which migrates all SAPscript forms automatically.
You can also do this one-by-one in transaction SMARTFORMS, under
    Utilities -> Migrate SAPscript form.
You could also write a small batch program calling transaction SMARTFORMS and running the migration tool.
    Hope it helps u.
    Thanks&Regards,

  • Difference between LSMW and CATT

    Hi all,
Can anybody tell me the difference between LSMW and CATT?

    CATT
SAP users use CATT frequently to upload master data or to
make changes to master data records. SAP Consultants and
Abapers tend to use it for creating test data. The
transactions run without user interaction. You can check
system messages and test database changes. All tests are
logged. The CATT records your keystrokes while performing
the actual transaction. You then identify the fields that
you wish to change in that view. Then export this data to a
spreadsheet to populate with the data required. This is
uploaded and executed saving you keying in the data
    manually.
To perform CATT, it has to be enabled in your production
environment (your systems administrator should be able to
do this - SCC4). You will also need access to your
development system to create the CATT script.
The process of uploading data with a CATT:
    Activate CATT in your client
In transaction code SCC4 - click the change button
Double click on the client number
In the Restriction section, tick Allows CATT processes to
    be started.
    Upload data using CATT
    1. Create Import variant for the fields you need
    Transaction SCAT
    Goto Parameters
    Create Import Variant
    Goto Variant -> Edit
Goto Variant -> Fast entry or F9
    Duplicate 01
    2. To change the MRP Group for a list of Material
Assuming that I want to change the MRP Group for a list of
    Material.
My text files should look something like this:
[Variant ID] [Variant Text] &ZDISGR &ZMATNR
--> Parameter texts MRP group Material
    --> Default Values M1 A001
Changes to the default values displayed above not
    effective
    #01  M1 A001
    #02  ''     A002
    #03  M1 A003
    Note : '' denotes a blank in the field. e.g. Material A002
MRP group will be replaced by a blank.
    3. Configure the recorded entry fields to read from the
    imported text file data
In the CATT : Maintain functions test case Screen
Double click on the Object Name
Double click on the screen number with your desired fields
Park the cursor on the fields
    Click Edit -> Details
Fill in the Parameters Name and Field Contents
    Finish Save it.
    Assign your text file data.
In the CATT : Execute test case Screen
Click External from file and choose your text file
CATT will now read from your text file and update whatever
    data you have specified.
    LSMW
Using LSMW you can update any kind of data but no changes to database are allowed, where as CATT tool can update only master data, which also allows changes to the master data and also a significant testing of data is possible. LSMW is a tool that offers you 4 ways to import data into SAP, they are BDC, Direct Input, BAPI(BO), IDOC.It is used for migrating the data b/w the Non-SAP and SAP application to do for that we can take the Non-SAP application data and Converts the data into the Legacy data. After the Legacy data creation convert the data in to the "Flat file". That flat file is in the form of text file or excel format. If the file is in the form of text format
we can create the ".txt" file ("ABC.txt")and in the form of
excel ".xls" file is created. flat file for dos and .xls
file for IBM. The converted file (.txt/.xls)is either upload or download. The Upload functionality if used for .txt file to SAP and where as Downloading is the concept while SAP to .txt/.xls file.
Execute the transaction LSMW to start transfer of data,Before using the LSMW we should have good knowledge about the business object and the fields that will be transferred.
There are 14 steps that are normally used and these are :
    1)   Maintain Object Attributes.
    2)   Maintain Source Structures.
    3)   Maintain Source Fields.
    4)   Maintain Structure Relations
    5)   Maintain Field Mapping and conversion rules .
    6)   Maintain Fixed Values, translations ,user defined routines.
    7)   Specify Files .
    8)   Assign Files .
    9)   Read DATA.
    10) Display Read Data.
    11) Convert Data.
    12) Display Converted Data.
    13) Create Batch Input Session.
    14) Run Batch Input Sesion.
