Difference between validity interval and deduction interval of an absence

Hi,
what is the Difference between validity interval and deduction interval of an absence quota type.
i have sick leave and i have to use that in this financial year only.
means my validity interval is 01.01.2007 to 31.12.2007
but my deduction interval is 01.01.2007 to 31.03.2008
so ican use the leave in this financial year also
if u want to allow the quota till march of next financial year then extend the validity period, why we need deduction interval.
i know there would be some logic behind this.
can anybody tell me the exact difference between those two intervals.

Hi,
Deduction from and Deduction to dates define the period in which the absence quota can be reduced by an absence.
Validity period can be specified only for absence quotas that are generated through time evaluation. The validity period represents the period for which the time off entitlements are filled in one infotype record.
Ex:
You want the absence quota type Automatically generated leave to be created for each calendar year. Select the Calendar year field under Valid from and Valid to.
You want to be able to deduct from the quota from January 1 of the current calendar year through March 31 of the following year. Select the Validity interval field under Deduction from and Deduction to. Also enter 3 months in the Relative position field under Deduction to. The deduction to date is then extended by 3 months relative to the validity interval.
Hope this clears your doubt.
reward points if helpful.

  • Difference between validation and susbstittution with tcodes

hi all can any body tell me about difference between validation and susbstittution with tcodes
    regars
    sravya

    Hi,
    Settting up the FI Validations
You can use additional validation to supplement the existing SAP logic to fit you into your businness needs.
For e.g. to allow postings from company code 0001 to business area AA only.
GGB0 - To maintain the validations
Validation - Enter a validation name e.g. VBUS
Applicaion Area - SAP module e.g. FI
Calling Point - Dependent upon the application area that is selected.
0001 - Document Header - validate enteries at document header, e.g BKPF table
0002 - Line Items - check line item entris within a document, e.g. BSEG table
0003 - Complete Document - check settings for the whole documents.
    e.g. Validation step 001
Allowed company code '0001' to post to business area AA only. 'FI00' checks that line item is from FI.
If checks failed, the error message number 14 is displayed to stop the transaction.
    Prerequisite
    <BSEG> $BUKRS = '0001' AND
    <BKPF> $GLVOR = 'FI00'
    Check
    <BSEG> $GSBER = 'AA'
    Message
Type E No. 14 - Business Area not allowed for company 0001
    Output fields 1 - BSEG - GSBER 2 - BSEG - BUKRS
    3 - 4
OB28 - Define Validations for Posting
CC CallPnt Validation Description Activtn Level
    0001 2 VBUS Business Area Validation 1
Activtn Level - 0 - Not Active 1 - Activated 2 - Activated for all except batch input
GGB4 - Manage the activation of all validations in the SAP system.
    Validations, Substitutions, and Rules
    Purpose
With the validations and substitutions software, you can validate and/or substitute data at the time of entry in the FI-SL System and other SAP Systems.
    Implementation Considerations
You do not need to change the standard system to customize your validations and substitutions. For each installation, you can define exactly which validations and substitutions are necessary to ensure the integrity of your data.
    Features
    Validation
In the SAP System, almost all input values are validated by a program or against tables or master files. Since some types of validations cannot be standardized, you can use FI-SL's validations program to create validations for your system.
With validations, you can check values and combinations of values as they are being entered in the SAP environment. Validation rules are stored in the Rule Manager; as data is entered, the Integration Manager validates the data against the validation rules stored in the Rule Manager. Because data is validated before it is posted, only valid information enters the FI-SL System.
You define validation rules using Boolean logic. When you define a validation rule, the system checks the validation rule to ensure that it is syntactically correct.
You can also define the result of breaking the validation rule. For instance, you can specify that a message is issued but the user can continue processing. You can also force the user to correct the error before processing can continue.
For more information, see Validation or What Are Validations?. For more information on using validations, see Creating a Validation. For more information on Boolean Logic, see Introduction to Boolean Logic.
    Substitution
Substitution rules are stored in the Rule Manager. When data is entered in the system, it is substituted by the Integration Manager. The Integration Manager calls the Rule Manager. Substitution occurs before the data is posted to the FI-SL databases.
You define substitution rules using Boolean logic. When you define a substitution rule, the system checks the substitution rule to ensure that it is syntactically correct.
For more information, see Substitution or What Are Substitutions?. For more information on using substitutions, see Creating a Substitution. For more information on Boolean Logic, see Introduction to Boolean Logic.
    Rules
A rule is a Boolean expression that you can use as a condition, as a check, or in another rule. Rules enable you to refer to frequently used Boolean statements simply by specifying the rule name.
The FI-SL Integration Manager uses Boolean logic. When you use Boolean logic and syntax, you can:
    Validate data
    Substitute data
    Select ledgers for posting
Transfer substitution data to a rollup ledger
    Select report data
The Rule Manager stores the Boolean rules used to analyze data. The Integration Manager calls the Rule Manager and determines whether entered data should be used. If a Boolean statement is true, an action is taken; if a statement is false, no action is taken.
Boolean logic is used in the following FI-SL modules:
    Validation
    Substitution
    Ledger selection
    Report Writer
    Rollups
To use Boolean Logic in one of the functions listed, you create statements that are used as formulas in the FI-SL System. For more information on using Boolean Logic, see Introduction to Boolean Logic or Boolean Logic Statements and Rules.

  • Difference between DB CPU and DB Time

    Hi,
What is the difference between DB CPU and DB TIME in AWR report?
    Br,
    Raj

    Hi,
    Thanks for your valuable reply.
1,DB CPU is time spent on CPU. It means only ACTIVELY working on CPU. WAIT TIME is not includeed.
In 10 Minute interval with four CPU, Is the Maximum DB CPU 40 Minutes?
2,I read the below document about DB time. http://www.perfvision.com/docs/JB_AAS.pdf
I unable to understand at page 6.
It says that DB Time = Includes CPU Time + IO Time +  Wait Time
    I understand about Wait time.
CPU also involved  to do I/O Time? Is it RIGHT?.Hence, Why did seperate CPU Time and I/O time in the document? What is the purpose of it?
Is it possbile to further divided the CPU TIME ? Like parse etc.....Which view provide it?
3,If you had four sessions actively working or actively waiting 100% of the time in that 10 minute period, then your DB time would be 40 minutes.
In a given interval,Where can i find NON Idle wait time in AWR?
    Plese help me out it

  • Differences Between Report Painter and Report Writer

    Hi,
Anyone knows the differences between report painter and report writer?
    Thanks,
    CW

    Hello CW Teo,
Yes report writer can be used in logistics also. One of the way which I am aware of is described below.
Flexible analyses allow you to can tailor the way in which key figures are combined and aggregated. This means that it is possible to both provide administrators with detailed information and management with aggregated information.
Flexible analyses enable easy access to the Report Writer, a user-friendly tool with which you can create reports for various analyses. The Report Writer is integrated in other SAP applications, such as Extended General Ledger and Cost Center Accounting.
Evaluation structures form the interface to the Report Writer. Evaluation structures consist of characteristics and key figures and are easy to construct. An evaluation structure with the same name exists for each information structure in the standard system.Even the self-defined information structures created in Customizing can be evaluated via the flexible analyses.
Evaluations:You can create an evaluation on the basis of the evaluation structure.
To define an evaluation, all you need to do is select the characteristics and key figures you require (pick-up technique). One of the especially useful features here is that you have the option of tailoring the layout of your report to suit your particular requirements. You can also define extra key figures for the reports, which are derived from existing key figures by means of calculation formulas. You can thereby multiply the key figures or divide one key figure by another.
    ============================================================
In addition to the above you can also edit a report in logistics module with the help of a report writer. below mentioned is the process for it.
It is now possible to edit your report data using the Report Writer. You can also change the layout of the report. The most important functions of the layout design are summarized below.
Summation levels:In the report screen, you can use the menu sequence View ->Summation level to specify the number of summation used to calculate total values. All totals that do not lie within the specified interval will be hidden. A summation level corresponds to a hierarchical level (for example, material level). Summation level 1 is the lowest hierarchical level. Summation level 2 is the next level up, and so on. The individual values are on the summation level 0.
The summation levels can be specified both universally (for the entire report) or locally (for specific blocks of rows). In this case, the local settings overwrite global values.
Report views:If a report is displayed on the screen, the Report Writer will then set page breaks so that exactly one page fits into the current window. This view will be defined as the standard view. As the Report Writer always processes exactly one page, you can only use the page keys and page icons to page up and down; the scroll bars cannot be used.
The page view can be determined via Settings-> Page view. The page breaks in the page view correspond to those defined in the report layout.
Hide and show rows:The function Edit->Hide rows exclude certain preselected areas of your report from the display. You can undo this command with Edit ® Show rows.
Expanding and collapsing report rows:View-> Hierarchy->Collapse allows you to hide the report rows of the sub-trees that are located underneath. View->Hierarchy ->Expand allows you to undo this command level by level.
If you want to display all the report rows that were hidden by collapsing the hierarchy or restricting the summation levels, select, View->Hierarchy-> Expand all.
View->Collapse all allows you to reduced every row block to the highest summation level.
Texts and Annotations:You can create an annotation for your report.
    Select: Extras->Annotation.
You branch into the text editor of the Report Writer.
Via the menu sequence Settings->Texts, you can create and format a title page, the last page, as well as headers and footers using word processing functions.
For example, you can store variables in the header for the author of the report, the date of the selection or the name of the person who last changed the report.
Layout parameters:Using the menu sequence Settings->Layout you can specify the page format, display form, rows and columns of the report according to your needs and you can determine the settings for the graphics function. You can make these layout settings with Report->Save settings.
Hope I had been able to help you to some extent. please assign points as reward.

  • Whats the difference between arrayCollection = null and arrayCollection.removeAll()?

Whats the difference between arrayCollection = null and
    arrayCollection.removeAll()?

In arrayCollection = null; statement you're setting this
reference to null and potentially making it available for garbage
collection. I say 'this reference' and potentially because, as you
may know, there might be other references to this array collection
object that won't be affected by this statement and hence it won't
    be GC'ed.
arrayCollection.removeAll() says that I want to empty this
array collection for all the reference that we pointing to it. That
is, remove all the objects from the collection -- and of course
make them 'potentially' available for the GC -- the size of the
array collection would be reduced down to zero and all the
references would be pointing to a valid but empty collection.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between Drilldown report and Interactive report

There is no difference between drill down and interactive report, they are the same.
With drilldown reporting, SAP provides you with an interactive information system to let you evaluate the data collected in your application. This information system is capable of analyzing all the data according to any of the characteristics that describe the data. You can also use any key figures you wish to categorize your data. You can display a number of objects for a given key figure, or a number of key figures for a given object. In addition, the system lets you carry out any number of variance analyses (such as plan/actual comparisons, fiscal year comparisons, comparisons of different objects, and so on).
You can produce both simple, data-directed lists (basic reports) and complex, formatted lists in drilldown reporting (form reports).
Drilldown report provides you with comfortable functions for navigating through your data. For example, you can jump to the next level of detail or the next report object on the same level, hide individual levels and switch between the detail and drilldown lists. It also provides a number of additional functions which let you process lists interactively (sorting, conditions, ranking lists, and so on). SAP Graphics, SAPmail and the Excel List Viewer are also integrated into drilldown reporting.
The drilldown functions are divided into three groups which differ in the number of functions available. That way each user can choose the functional level most suited for his requirements.
In addition to the online functions for displaying reports, drilldown reporting also provides functions which let you print reports. A number of formatting functions are available to let you determine the look of your printed reports (page breaks, headers and footers, underscores, and so on).
The menus and the functions available directly on the drilldown report make it easy to use the information system.
    What is an Interactive Report?
An interactive report generally works in the following fashion:
    1. Basic list is displayed.
    2. User double clicks on any valid line
        or
User selects a line and presses as button on the tool bar.
    3. The corresponding event is triggered
    4. Then in the code, the line on which action was done, is read.
    5. Depending on the values in that selected line, a secondary list is displayed.
    6. Steps from 2-5 are repeated till the end.
From the above explanation, I believe, its clear that, the 20th list, will essentially depend on the "selected line" of 19th list. According to your question, you want to move to 20th list directly, without "a prior list". May I know the exact requirement so that, an appropriate solution can be suggested?
Again, your question was, how to move to 20th list directly on pressing of execute button. Its not possible to move to 20th list. You must cross over a basic list, before you can go to a different list level, using the code given by Pavan.
    What are Drilldown reports?
The lines of basic list of a drilldown report when clicked, will take the user to the corresponding (standard) object's display.
For eg: Suppose your report's primary component is purchase requisition, (assume you are printing PR details), and the basic list displays details of many PRs.
Eg: when clicked on a particular line of the PR basic list, it takes you to std t-code me53 (display of purchase requisition). This is the 'Drill-down' functionality.
For this, in the at-line selection of your program, as per the above ex: you'll set the parameter ID of PR number BAN (that you can get from Data element) in memory (using set parameter id) and then calling the corresponding transaction (usually skipping initial screen of the std t-code).
Likewise, if it's Material Number (Matnr), you'll be displaying MM03 transaction w.r.t. the line's matnr.

  • Difference between Interactive report and ALV Interactive report.

What is the difference between Interactive report and ALV Interactive report.
i think there is no much difference the same Interactive report Events and functionality we will implement with ALV.
    Experts guide me.

    Hi,
ALV interactive report gives many advantages than interactive report like sorting, summing and getting graphics.
An interactive report generally basic list displayed. User double clicks on any valid line or user selects a line and presses as button on the tool bar. Then the corresponding event is triggered

  • Difference between Coupon Codes And non-Coupon Codes

    Hi everybody.,
i want to know the difference between Coupon Codes And Non-Coupon Codes in ATG..

I dont think we have anything called non-coupon codes.
We have promotions codes or coupon codes associated to a single promotion. If you apply couponcode, then the promotion associated to the user gets applied to it if dates and other properties related to coupon are valid.

  • Difference between custom controller and component controller

    Hi All,
I am a beginner in CRM SAP .
Please can anyone tell me whats the difference between custom controller and component controller with some scenario.
    I am totally baffled.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Shilpi

    Hi Shilpi,
The main difference between custom and component controller is the role which they play during data transfer.
    a) Custom controller is used for data transfer across two views within a component. For that you need to bind view context nodes to custom controller either through wizard or manually by adding the code in CTXT class create_contextnode method:
initial setting for depandant model node
        coll_wrapper =
          BTADMINH->get_collection_wrapper( ).
        TRY.
            entity ?= coll_wrapper->get_current( ).
          CATCH cx_sy_move_cast_error.
        ENDTRY.
        IF entity IS BOUND.
          BTOpportH->on_new_focus(
                       focus_bo = entity ).
        ENDIF.
b)Component controller is used for data transfer across two views in two different components. For this, we need to define the component usage first and then bind the context nodes in the method-WD_USAGE_INITIALIZE of the Component Controller impl class.
        WHEN 'ComponentUsageName'.
          iv_usage->bind_context_node(
                      iv_controller_type  = cl_bsp_wd_controller=>co_type_custom
                      iv_target_node_name = 'ContextNodeName'  "#EC NOTEXT
                      iv_node_2_bind      = 'ContextNodeName' ).  "#EC NOTEXT
Hope this clears some of your doubts!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rohit
P.S-This is valid for CRM 2007.Raghu is also right because Interaction Center is made up of different different components combined together. You have put your question in wrong forum.

  • What is difference between tax procedure and pricing procedure?

    Dear Gurus,
Would you please let me know the difference between tax procedure and pricing procedure?
Why it is necessary to maintain them separately?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ranjan

    Hi
    Tax procedure settings
OBBG - Assign Country to calculation procedure.
OBCO - Specify structure for Tax Jurisdiction code. For country like U.S.A.
LG -> character length of first level of hierarchy within your tax jurisdiction code structure.
LG -> Second level of hierarchy as above.
LG -> Third level of hierarchy as above.
LG -> Fourth level of hierarchy as above.
TX -> Tick if you want the system to determine taxes on a line by line basis instead of determining them on a cumulative basis
               per tax jurisdiction code.
OBCP - Define Tax Jurisdiction code
Dil -> Tick if you do not want tax amounts included in the based amount used for calculating cash discounts.
Txl -> Tick if you want the cash discount amount deducted from the base amount that is used to calculate taxes.
FTXP - Define Taxes on Sales/Purchases Code.
OBCL - Allow Tax codes for non-taxable transactions.
In MM module, pricing procedure is used during RFQ and PO creation. Total value of material based on all addition and subtraction like discount, surcharge, tax, freight, etc. In this we are defining pricing procedure and linking to vendor and purchase department through the virtual schemas.
Following steps for pricing procedure as,
    1. Define conditions.
    2. Define pricing procedure.
    3. Define virtual purchase organization and vendor.
    4. Info Record.

  • Difference between Session method and call transaction

    Hi,
please give me the differences between session method and call transaction,
briefly explaining synchronus , asynchronus, process, update.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vijay Kumar
    CLASSICAL BATCH INPUT (Session Method)
    CALL TRANSACTION
    BATCH INPUT METHOD:
This method is also called as ‘CLASSICAL METHOD’.
    Features:
    Asynchronous processing.
    Synchronous Processing in database update.
Transfer data for more than one transaction.
Batch input processing log will be generated.
During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
    CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
    Features:
Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
Transfer data for a single transaction.
Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
No batch input processing log is generated.
    http://www.sap-img.com/abap/difference-between-batch-input-and-call-transaction-in-bdc.htm
Among the two methods call transaction is better compared to session bcoz data transfer is faster in it.
Differences between call transaction and session.
    Session Method:
    1) Data is not updated in the database table until the session is processed.
    2) No sy-subrc is returned.
    3) Error log is created for error records.
    4) Updation is always synchronous.
    Call Transaction Method:
    1) Immediate updation in the database table.
    2) sy-subrc is returned.
3)Error need to be handled explicitly.
    4) updation can be synchronous as well as asynchronous.
    2) ya u can use using the N mode no screen.
3)u can't handle multiple transaction in call transaction.
    4) u can handle multiple transaction in session using the BDC_INSERT fm.
5)When u go to SM35 u can able to see the error records.
    Which is best?
That depends on your requirement. Both of them have there advantages.
According to the situation u can choose any one of these.
difference between batch input and call transaction in BDC Session method.
    1) synchronous processing.
    2) can tranfer large amount of data.
    3) processing is slower.
    4) error log is created
    5) data is not updated until session is processed.
    Call transaction.
    1) asynchronous processing
    2) can transfer small amount of data
    3) processing is faster.
    4) errors need to be handled explicitly
    5) data is updated automatically
For session method, these are the function modules to b used.
    BDC_OPEN_GROUP
    BDC_INSERT
    BDC_CLOSE_GROUP
For call transaction, this is the syntax.
    CALL TRANSACTION TCODE USING BDCDATA
    MODE A or E or N
    UPDATE A or S
    MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB.
Take a scenario where we need to post documents in FB01 and the input file has say 2000 records (2000 documents, not line items in FB01 but 2000 records)
In the BDC call transaction method
We call the transaction FB01 2000 times (once for each record posting) and if the processing fails in record no 3 it can be captured and start with reocord 4.
    Eg: Loop at itab.
    call transaction FB01
    capture errors
    endloop.
    In the session method.
We do not explicity call the transaction 2000 times, but all the records are appeneded into a session and this session is stored. The processinf of the session is done wwhenever the user wants it to be done. Hence the errors cannot be captured in the program itself
    Check these link:
    http://www.sap-img.com/abap/difference-between-batch-input-and-call-transaction-in-bdc.htm
    http://www.sap-img.com/abap/question-about-bdc-program.htm
    http://www.itcserver.com/blog/2006/06/30/batch-input-vs-call-transaction/
    http://www.planetsap.com/bdc_main_page.htm
Batch Input Session method is asynchronous as told by others here. But the advantage of this is that you have all the error messages and the data for each transaction held persistantly. You don't have to code anything for processing them or writing the logs.
But at the same time, the same feature can be disadvantageous if you need to react to an error or if there are too many errors to manually correct in a session. Since the session are created in the program and its execution is done seperately, you loose the trackability of such transactions.
With a call transaction, what was a disadvantage above will become an advantage. Call transaction immediately gives you messages back and you can react to it in your program. But the disadvantage is that, if you have several hundreds of transactions to run, running them from within the program can be resource crunching affair. It will hamper the system performance and you cannot really distribute the load. Of course, you have some mechanisms with which you can overcome this, but you will have to code for it. Also, storing the messages and storing the errored transaction data etc will have to be handled by you in the program. Whereas, in batch input session, your program's job is to just create the session, after that everything is standard SAP system's responsibility.
Ideally, you should do a call transaction if the resources are not a problem and if it fails, put the errored transaction into a session.
You can decide based on the data volume that your BDC is processing. If data volume is high go for session else call transaction will do.The call transaction updates will be instantaneous where as session needs to be processed explictly after creation.
    Session Method
    1) Session method supports both small amount of data aswell as large amount of data
    2) data processing is asynchronus and data updation is synchronus.
    3) it process multiple apllication while perfomaning validations.
    4) in session method data will be updated in data base only after processing session only.
    5) system provide by default logfile for handling error records.
    6) it supports both foreground aswell as background process
in bdc we use FM ...
    bdc_open_group " for creating Session
bdc_insert " adding transaction and bdcdata table for updating database
    bdc_close_group " for closing Session
    Call Transaction
    1) Call transaction exclusively for small amout of data
    2) it supports only one apllication while perfoming validations
    3) there is no default logfile, We can explicitly provide logic for creating logfile for handling error records.
we can create logfile by using structure....BDCMSGCOLL
    4) it doesn't support background processing.
    5) data processing is synchronous and Data updation is Synchronous( default), in
this method also supports daya updation in asynchronus process also.
    syntax:
    Call transaction <transaction-name> using BDCDATA
    mode <A/N/E>
    update <L/A/S>
    messages into BDCMSGCOLL.
    BDC:
Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the process of transferring data from one SAP System to another SAP system or from a non-SAP system to SAP System.
    Features :
    BDC is an automatic procedure.
This method is used to transfer large amount of data that is available in electronic medium.
BDC can be used primarily when installing the SAP system and when transferring data from a legacy system (external system).
BDC uses normal transaction codes to transfer data.
    Types of BDC :

    See below example code :
    Call three FM : BDC_OPEN_GROUP,BDC_INSERT and BDC_CLOSE_GROUP.
Once you execute the program and it creates the session at SM35 Transaction.

  • Difference between dynamic actions and user exit

    Hi,
Please help me in when to use table T588z and user exit to write code for dynamic actions.
    Thanks,

    Hi Prasad,
Find the difference between Dynamic action and user exits.
    Dynamic Action                                              User Exits
    1. Here only initialization of an infotype                    1. Along with initialization of an infotype,                  depending upon other infotype                                    validation also can be done like in
can be done.                                                        IT 16 the contract end date can not be
                                                                                    entered more than 6 months.
    2. Less time consuming to write.                             2. Require programming approch so more
                                                                                    time consuming.

  • What are the difference between 4.6c and 4.7 versions?

what are the difference between 4.6c and 4.7 versions?
if any please give me answer
    regards

    Hi,
Upgrade SAP or Installation of SAP R/3 and ECC
What is ECC?  Where to find the installation steps of  ECC 5/6.0 with SQL as database and on windows platform with the steps including Solution Manager installation?
    http://service.sap.com/instguides
    ECC means Enterprise Central Component.
There are all the relevant installation guides. You NEED SAPNet access because without a registered and licensed SolMan installation number you will not be able to generate the SolMan key for the ECC installation.
    Upgrade to 4.7
Have you gone through an upgrade to 4.7?
What are the difference or changes associated with 4.7.
If you are currently on 4.6C and are inching forward to upgrading to 4.7 then this information might be useful to you.
There is very little difference between 4.6 and 4.7, the only "steps" you should need are steps in SU25 ( skip step 1) Then go through all your role and perform a merge old new to bring in the new authorization objects
Just to forewarn you of a potential problem which have been encounter at the point of writing.
After updating/ modifying roles in step 2C, when going back into 2C to make sure all roles are now green, 70% have gone back to red!
The maintenance done is ok, but there seems to be a problem while trying to go back into the roles again to re-generate.
SAP recognizes them as needing "adjustment", so you cannot pick them up in mass generate in PFCG as they do not come in, even though the authorizations tab is red.
This problem is currently with SAP and it is confirmed that nothing have been done wrongly.
Generally, the work is quite manageable in the upgrade, but don't be surprised at how big the upgrade is when compared to upgrading from 46b to 46c.
If we have full software of 46c and 47E is it possible to upgrade 46c to 47E or there is a seperate 47E upgrade software need to be requested from SAP?
Where I can get the document with upgrade steps on the service market place?
It is of course possible and supported:
    http://service.sap.com/inguides
    --> SAP Components
    --> SAP R/3 Enterprise
    --> (choose your version)
at the bottom there is an "Upgrade guide" for Windows and Unix.
For Upgrades it is recommended to read ALL the notes mentioned in the
upgrade guide and to make sure one is using
    - the correct version of the "tp" program
    - the correct version of the "R3trans" program
    - the correct version of the "R3up" program
All that is explained in the upgrade guide and in the corresponding notes.
If this is your first upgrade you should take a person, that has some experience on doing that for the first time.
    Installation of SAP R/3
Currently we are going to install SAP on a new IBM server from the existing COMPAQ server. Where can I get the steps for that.
    Configuration is :
       OS - windows 2003 server
       DB - Oracle 9i
       SAP 4.7
    http://service.sap.com/instguides
    --> SAP Components
    --> SAP R/3 Enterprise
    --> SAP R/3 Enterprise Core 4.70 / Ext. Set 2.00 (SR1)
    --> Inst. Guide - R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 2.00 SR1 on Win: Oracle
The above url is the SAP Service Marketplace with all the information you need to install, configure and run system. You need to be a valid licensed customer with a user ID and PASSWORD to use that.
Without access you won't be able to successfully run any SAP systems because it has notes, patches etc.

  • Difference between petition red and no U no R in ERROR DTP

    Hi experts,
I have created some ERROR DTP in some DTP that I execute in a process chain.
I Have a doubt now. I don't know exactly the difference between Valid records update, no reporting (Petition RED), and No update, no recording Options for "Update".
Wich do you reccomend to me? My goal is to save the correct ones and let the errors there to be manually revised, so I have set the DTP as Valid records update, reporting possible (Petition Green),
    Thanks!!
    Artur.

    Hi Artur,
    SAP excerpt -
On the Update tab page, specify how you want the system to respond to data records with errors:
         a.      No update, no reporting (default)
If errors occur, the system terminates the update of the entire data package. The request is not released for reporting. However, the system continues to check the records.
This means the data inside this request will not be visible in reports.
         b.      Update valid records, no reporting (request red)
This option allows you to update valid data. This data is only released for reporting after the administrator checks the incorrect records that have not been updated and manually releases the request by setting the overall status on the Status tab page in the monitor (QM action).
          c.      Update valid records, reporting possible
Valid records can be reported immediately. Automatic follow-up actions, such as adjusting the aggregates, are also carried out.
Wich do you reccomend to me? My goal is to save the correct ones and let the errors there to be manually revised, so I have set the DTP as Valid records update, reporting possible (Petition Green),
    Your choice is correct
    Hope it helps,
    Best regards,
    Sunmit.
