The differences are,
validy period start - proposed start date of material production
actual start period - actual date of (start of) production
posting period - date on which production is completed & production posting is done.
document created on - date on which the sales document is created or posted
requested delivery date - date on which the material is requested by the customer or the date on which the goods should be delivered.
goods issue date - date on which the goods issue from the storage location is done or PGI (post goods issue) done date.

Unable to find key figure attribute in the cube

Hi all of you,
I am struggling while working on this "Display Attribute". Please read this and help me out.
I want to create attributes and then load data into a cube.
I had created an InfoArea IA_ATTRIBUTES.
Under this IA_ATTRIBUTES I created an InfoObject Catalog IOC_DISPATTR.
Under IOC_DISPATTR I created an InfoObject ZCUSTNUMB which is my primary key.
After defining the ZCUSTNUMB I clicked on the Attributes tab and entered the other attributes like ZCUSTNAME, ZCUSTADDR, ZCUSTREGI, ZCUSTLOCA, and ZPRICE. All of these attributes except ZPRICE are characteristics WHILE ZPRICE is a keyfigure.
I've also made sure that the Attributes only check box is not checked for all the characteristics.
I then activated the InfoObject ZCUSTNUMB and came back.
Now I created a cube DISP_ATTR. I clicked on the InfoObject Catalog button and selected the above mentioned catalog IOC_DISPATTR and transferred the IOs from the template into the structure.
Now when I transfer IOs in this way all the IOs both characteristics and key figures should come into the structure of the cube isnt't. But only characteristics have come and the keyfigure ZPRICE hasn't come.
Moreover when I hit on the key figures tab and hit on the find button and find ZPRICE I am getting a message saying "No (further) object found". So when I hit on the create button and create a key figure ZPRICE I am getting a message saying "InfoObject ZPRICE already exists as Key Figure (please rename)".
However when I double click on ZCUSTNUMB which is the primary key, the screen "Display characteristic ZCUSTNUMB: Detail" opens. In this screen I find all the attributes in the attributes tab that I had defined while defining attributes including ZPRICE.
So what I don't understand is when all the characteristics IOs are visible under the characteristics tab then why am I unable to find the key figure ZPRICE under Key figures tab when I created it while defining attributes. Can anyone please explain me this situation and tell me how should I find the key figure ZPRICE so that I can go ahead and create the cube.
Lastly I want to know what are the differences between InfoObjects and Attributes. Is an attribute also an IO?
Please explain.

Thanks a lot for your reply. As per your suggestion I created another IOC FOR key figures called IOC_ATTR_KF. In this IOC I had included the key figure ZPRICE and activated the IOC.
Now I have created a cube again ATTR_DISP. On the right corner where we find 5 buttons I clicked on the InfoObject Catalog button. The screen "Select InfoObject Catalog" opened displaying the IOC_ATTR_KF that I had created earlier. When I double clicked on the IOC_ATTR_KF I got the msg asking "Do you want to transfer the IOs from the template into the structure?" I clicked on Yes. But I don't find any key figures either in the Structure pane or in the Template pane. Both the panes are empty.
I also clicked on the All InfoObjects button and searched for ZPRICE but again I am getting the message "No "further) object found". However when I try to create ZPRICE I am getting the message ZPRICE already exists.
Please explain me why this is happening like this?

Reactivation of Info objects

Hi Friends,
We have activated some datargets and the info objects used in these data targets go reinstalled and the versions of the Info objects dont match with that if QA ad Production , who do I get back the same version of my infoobjects as Production , Is there any report which I can run to comapre the differences between Dev and Prod, How can I retain my old versions of Infoobjects ?
Any inputs greatly appreciated.

To know the difference between infoobjects in DEV and PROD systems is login into both systems
SE16---->RSDODSOIOBJ>DATATARGET-- u get the list of objects in the ODS and if Cube
SE16--->RSDCUBEIOBJ>DATATARGET---u get it
U can compare together
if u want to activate the particular object than use
SE38----->RSDG_IOBJ_ACTIVATE -

One real time scenario for End Routine.
We have a scenario where in a datasource field is mapped to three infoobjects on the datatarget side. There are 2 key figures which need to get data after these these Infoobjects are filled. The best place for this to happen would be in a End Routine, where in we would loop through the results package and using the values of the infoobjects from the data target ( Cube in this case).

Hai Amit,
In ODS Key fields means the Primary keys characteristics.
So when ever we map the primary key characteristics (ie characteristics on which some info objects are dependent) should be assigned to key fields
and to data fields the Key figure Infoobjects as well as characteristics which does not have the primary/in-dependent fileds

It Considers the Doc.Value + Open Items.
Doc.Value : Sales Order Has been saved but not delivered

Static Credit Check it checks all these doc value & check with the credit limit
1) Open Doc.Value / Sales Order Value : Which is save but not delievered

Diff between Static and Dynamic Filters.
Example One at report Level.
Create a variable for a Infoobject say ,Material .
1)In the Query Designer and if u restrict it to some 10 materials at query level, the report will display for only those 10 materials only.This is Static Filter.UR AHrdcoding it to those materials.You cant change them at Query Run time.i.e not changeable by user.
2)If u give the variable as input ,and when u run the query ,u can can choose the material,may 10 may be 1 or may 20 .It is dynamic.Changeable by user at run time
Example Two at DTP and Start Routine Level,say Document Type.
1)If u give filters in Start routine it is Static as u cannot change it in Production,not changeable by user.
2)f u give filters in DTP it is Dyanamic as u can change it in Production.U can give any doc type,Changeable by user at run time.

Using a single master data infoobject for multiple fields

Hello experts. Today I ran un with the following problem: I am modelling an Infocube and will be receiving a flat file with several fields, of which 3 of them give information about sales representatives.
For each transaction there are 1-3 sales representatives involved, and this is reflected in the file I am going to be loading. If only one representative is involved, it means that he was in charge of a complete negotiation, and his code will be found in all three fields, if two representatives are involved, it means that one was in charge of one part of the negotiation, while the other was in charge of the rest, and according to what they were in charge, their code will appear in one or two of the fields. If three representatives are involved, each one's code will appear on the field corresponding to the part of the negotiation they were in charge of handling.
I already have the sales representative's codes as master data, but I was wondering how I can have those three fields map into the same InfoObject, if that is possible at all. Maybe in the transformation I map them to the same object? Also, what happens when you create the Data Source? As far as I know, each field in the Data Source must be unique, which makes it impossible to use my ZSALESREP InfoObject for the three fields, at least at Data Source level. What can I do in this case?

You need 3 infoobjects in datasouce to load 3 different fields.
If you want load to a single infoobject, you can map accordingly in transformation, bult last field overwrites previous one.
Its better to maintain 3 fields in cube. Create 2 more sales Reps(ZSALESREP1 & ZSALESREP2) with Reference to ZSALESREP then you no need to maintain master data for ZSALESREP1 & ZSALESREP2.
Use these 3 fields for modeling.

Subracting dates at report level , to get difference in days.

I have 2 Key figure End date & start date & I need to present a difference between these dates in form of days .
Firstly it is possible at report level , by using process value as date [DATE] on both the end & start date fields , later subtract start date from end date.
I am nt sure whether out put wil b accurate .
Is there any functional module already existing tht cn , give the difference between dates in no of days?

about this procedure, my questions are:
1) can this procedure be applied if start and end date are attributes of a given infoobject?
2) if "yes" on point "1)", how can you avoid aggregation? In this case, summarization is not meaninful. Example: a given project have a "start date" and an "end date", so the difference between these dates is project duration. In a cube multiple records refers to the same project hence these dates should not be summarized
3) does these procedure work on a multiprovider?
My questions arises because I'm trying to compute with dates on a multiprovider, dates are attributes and unfortunately it seems not to work.
Any help?

Navigational attribute Vs normal infoobject in Query

I have some infoobjects named ..1)ITEM....2)STATUS....3)SALES etc in cubes...
I have to design a query showing this data...the report should show Item Status also...I can use normal infoobject STATUS from infocube in report to show Item Status....I have one more possibilitySTATUS is added as navigational attribute of infoobject ITEM..So I can use this navigational attribute also..which one should I use normal infoobject STATUS or navigational attribute STATUS of infoobject ITEM to show item status in report?how to decide on this?

Status as direct Object
When you use Status as an object added in cube you get the data of the day the cube was loaded. Let say for example your cube is loaded weekely on sundays, so the field status will give status as on sunday, even when it is run on other subsequent days of the week. So as correctly pointed in above posts values you get in status are not real time but historical.
Status as Navigational Attr of Item
When you use Status as Navigational attribute of Item then you get current data because in almost all cases Master Data Objects are loaded on daily basis and thus it picks the latetst Status of Items.
In case your cube is loaded daily then it won't make much difference that whether you are using it as a standalone object or as navigational attribute of Item.

Currency conversion with query selection mask and InfoObject 0Curtype

Hi,
question to following scenario:
in the data source is an column with the currency type. This currency type column contains values like
10 = company code currency
20 = account area currency
So for each data set in the table is an assignment of currency types.
In the cube is an InfoObject called 0Curtype (for currency types 10,20,30 ...).
In the BEx Query should a filter or selection be possible before the whole data is displayed.
The user can select in which currency he wants to display the data. When he selects the 10 the whole data is displayed in different currencies which are available because its local currency (Euro, Dollar etc.). By selecting 20 the whole data is displayed in Euro.
Does anybody knows how to achieve that? Is there any function module availabe which is provided by SAP and it is available for use?

Then use this currency conversion variable at query run time using a formula Key figure and go to Conversions tab and select this variable. Then at query run time the query will convert your key figure from source currency type to target currency type. But this can significantly impact your query run time because the query will calculate this at query run time.
The second option is to use a standard SAP function module CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURR in the back end and store this key figure in the back end during data load. This way the query will run faster for you. The difference is significant in my case.

Reading Infoobject value in Report

Hi,
I have an infoobject with hierarchy say POBJECT. a variable called HPOBJECT is created so that user is can sleect the Hierarchy and Node of the Hierarchy.
Now the task is i need to create an another variable which reads the Hierarchy value of the POBJECT.Normally i_t_var_range in CMOD should contain the value. so that i can read the value based on the HPOBJECT . But the problem here is in different Queries they have used different variables for the object POBJECT like HPOBJECT and QOPBJECT.
so i have a problem in making a statement like
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_var_range WITH KEY vnam = '.HPOBJECT'. As this vnam is not same for all the Queries. so i want to read the value of the POBJECT rather than reading based on the vnam.
I can also make the statement
from
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_var_range WITH KEY vnam = '.HPOBJECT'.
to
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_var_range WITH KEY IOBJNM = 'POBJECT, but the problem here is POBJECT conatins Hierarchy and also Node.
Does any body have an idea how this can be achieved?.

Is your contr area currency same as comp code currency? If yes, then this difference shall not arise....
Check for any OSS notes or raise it to SAP if your both currencies are same

BW vs APO InfoObjects

What is the difference between creating a BW InfoObject and creating an APO InfoObject in SCM BW? Does one type or the other limits certain functionality if used in both systems? Similarly, what's the difference in creating BW vs APO InfoCubes? Does one or the other limits functionality if used by both APO and BW? Is there some documentation describing the difference? If so, please direct me to where I can find it.

For characteristics, it really doesnt matter if they are either a BW or APO infoobject, however for a KEY FIGURE it does matter.
Reason is if you are intending to LOCK/FIX the key figure in yourplanning books, based on say a CONSENSUS FORECASTING workflow then theKEY FIGURE must be created as a APO key figure. Also enclosed the screenshots to show you the difference.
This is the simple rule to remember:
Always create APO keyfigures (because they have more functionality) and we will have Acutual Key Figures and Planned Key Figures...
Always create BW InfoCubes (APO InfoCubes are only used internally)
You can refer Chapter 3 : Demand Planner of APO for learning more about the diff between the Administrative Work Benches and Infocubes...

Hello,
If both infoobjects are key figures , then you can do the calculations. Create new formula and do the calculations.
If infoobjects are characteristics, then also you can perform the calculations but you can do this by creating a formula variable using replacement path.

InfoObject 0C_CTR_AREA and currency appearance in query results

Hi Gurus,
in one report for all data (for example turn over) is local currency available.
That means for example like this:
Credit control area --- Company Code --- Turnover
0010 --- 0002 --- 100000$
0010 --- 0001 --- 200000$
0010 --- 300000$ (sum of company codes for credit control area)
But the currency for the credit control area should be displayed as u20AC and not $.
The currency of credit control area is defined as u20AC in ERP.
What could be the problem?
I checked the characteristic 0C_CTR_AREA and figured out that in attribute tab the 0CURRENCY is assigned.
Because 0C_CTR_AREA is a standard InfoObject I think I have to create one new InfoObject for credit control area WITHOUT 0CURRENCY as attribute.
Does this make sense?

Virtual infoobjects: technical name in source and target systems

Hello Everybody,
actually I got a problem: I´ve created a virtual characteristic which is working fine on development system.
However after transporting to target system the BADI implementation containing the virtual infoobject dumps:
assign component 'Z____723' of structure cs_data to .
Is there any other way to avoid using these technical names 'Z____723' and use e.g. 0customer instead?
I would have expected, that the technical name for the virtual characteristic in my case 'Z____723' for 0customer will be the same in dev as in prod.

In my case I need to copy a Production Client (say 900) to a Test Client on a test machine (say client 700), what I came to know was that this is basically a client copy, but since the size of data involved is to the tune of 500GB +, it is System Copy.
Client Copy and System Copy are two different method to transfer the data and process are toatally different.

No. It will be client copy which is not possible as your Source/Target system are on different Support Pack level.
Or if I copy the client 900 to the existing client 700, is this a System Refresh ???
No. It will again a Client copy. You have confused between System Copy and Client Copy. I would suggest to to read first what is the difference between these two and the process to do that.
