Reading Infoobject value in Report

Hi,
I have an infoobject with hierarchy say POBJECT. a variable called HPOBJECT is created so that user is can sleect the Hierarchy and Node of the Hierarchy.
Now the task is i need to create an another variable which reads the Hierarchy value of the POBJECT.Normally i_t_var_range in CMOD should contain the value. so that i can read the value based on the HPOBJECT . But the problem here is in different Queries they have used different variables for the object POBJECT like HPOBJECT and QOPBJECT.
so i have a problem in making a statement like
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_var_range WITH KEY vnam = '.HPOBJECT'. As this vnam is not same for all the Queries. so i want to read the value of the POBJECT rather than reading based on the vnam.
I can also make the statement
from
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_var_range WITH KEY vnam = '.HPOBJECT'.
to
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_var_range WITH KEY IOBJNM = 'POBJECT, but the problem here is POBJECT conatins Hierarchy and also Node.
Does any body have an idea how this can be achieved?.

Is your contr area currency same as comp code currency? If yes, then this difference shall not arise....
Check for any OSS notes or raise it to SAP if your both currencies are same

Short dump in reading selection values in Report

Hi all,
I have created a Navegational Attributte and added this Info Object in the existing Query and for this object we have created Charactistics Value Variable with Uesr Entry.
But, When we use input selection option to select a vlaue for this Variable in the Variable Selection Screen it is trying to read the values and going into short Dump but for other variables Selection option is working fine.
Please anyone help me if you have the solution.

Hi,
Try deleting the master data and reload the master data again and check for the selection variables. Check the short dump in ST22 it will say which master table ie SID table or master table where the join fails.

Hash value in report

Hi sdn,
I'm getting hash value in report for one infoobject,that is for 0customer .Could you pls let me know how to remove that particular problem.

So u have records as follows:

So as for the above...if there is no data as the JR.. said,it will display in that row as # or Not Assigned.
1.So if u want dont want to display it & then u can EXCLUDE that # values in ur FILTER as other guy says.
2.Do as per JR..
3. U cannot totally remove tht frm ur report...becoz..where there is dependent char. which has data

How to get parameter value from report in event of value-request?

The customer want to use particular F4 help on report, but some input value before press enter key are not used in event of "at selection-screen on value-request for xxx", How to get parameter value in this event?

You probably want to look at function module DYNP_VALUES_READ to allow you to read the values of the other screen fields during the F4 event... below is a simple demo of this - when you press F4 the value from the p_field is read and returned in the p_desc field.

Determine/read the value of parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time within ABAP

Hi,
I need to avoid program breaks caused by exceeding run time longer than defined in parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time.
I will check the time since start of report in the critcal loop to bring the current data changes to a controlled end before getting a program break. I won't put a constant to the report, I will have a dynamical routine to avoid changes of report if the value of parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time will be changed.
But how can I get the value of this parameter within my ABAP report? Is there a table where this value has been stored? Is there an existing function module or a method to read the value?

The runtime parameter (GET RUN TIME ) can be used to dynamically get the program run time
DATA T TYPE I.
GET RUN TIME FIELD T.
WRITE: / 'Runtime', T.
or
U probably can store the start date and time in TVARV with some variable ( line concatenate program name + START Date + Time)
and then use
SD_DATETIME_DIFFERENCE
or
SD_CALC_DURATION_FROM_DATETIME

Function Module to Read attributes value from Classification tab

Dear Experts ,
We are using material classification in the material master. Under classification tab of material master , we are maintaining certain characteristics and their corresponding values.
I want to read those values and use those in one of the report.

You can check those details using CT06 transaction.

Hi,
To do this, first you may want to view the HTML source of the report. So, when you have the report launched with the input field, right click and select View Source. Usually it is under a <span> tag with id something like sapbi_snippet_YOURWEBITEMNAME. Most useful commands here are document.getElementById and document.getElementsByTagName.
You can also access the input web item value using standard sap command SET_SELECTION_STATE_BY_BINDING. Take a look at the documentation on this.

I am trying to solve a problem where report parameter value that is set at Management Console is wiped out after calling replaceConnection.
databaseController.replaceConnection(oldConnectionInfo, newConnectionInfo,
null,DBOptions._doNotVerifyDB);
We have to support changing database connection from a java utility
class. But once replaceConnection is called all existing static parameter values are lost. To fix this issue we thought of getting parameters and values before calling replaceConnection and setting it after replaceConnection.
Version is CS2008 SP3 - version 12.3.0.601
If there is any other option of fixing the original wipe out issue?
ParameterValues.getValues() didn't return value. I will try ParameterValues.getCurrentCalues() but the document says ParameterValues.getValues() is equivalent to the IParameterField.getCurrentValues() method unless it is empty, in which case it is equivalent to the IParameterField.getDefaultValues() method.
So getCurrentValues() may not work.

Editable field gives wrong value in report.

I have report with some editable fields. I am using apex_item for one editable select list. I gave functionality to update row by providing go button. when user clicks on go button, I sends page by using javascript dosubmit which updates values in table through update process. everything works fine but sometimes i am not able to read particular value in row. for example...
Rownum---------select_list--------- button---------- comment(editable)-not used apex_item

I used apex_item for select list but status is made editable by selecting "text area" from tabular form element of column.
when I press GO button on row third by selecting xyz it takes null value of 2nd row. same if I select something in 2nd row. i.e. instead of null if I selects 'mno' in 2nd row it takes select list value as 'mno' for third row. I observed this by writing javascript code which alerts me value of variable f01,f02.....
Please if anybody can help me. I want to know why this happens?

Requirement ::
Users should be able to add Column to the Report Dynamically at Runtime.
(There are around 1000+ Users, Answers Approach is not acceptable)
So we are planning to provide a Multi Select / Shuttle Box Option for Users to add Columns dynamically. (Only for Table View)
What we planned to DO ::
Create a Presentation Variable Prompt, Which reads the Metadata Table (Presentation Table.Column Name, populated using the Metadata Dictionary)
And Create a report with One Column and the Column Fx like @{var_dynamic_columns}{'"Time"."Year","Time"."Month"'}
With this, OBIEE is rewriting the Logical SQL Currently as "Select "Time"."Year","Time"."Month" from "A - Sample Sales" "
But getting an error
The number of columns returned in retrieving column metadata was invalid (expected: 1; received: 2)
So we want to see, if we can rewrite the Advanced XML of the Report to have dynamic columns based on the Values from the Presentation Variable.
Please help me if this is a viable solution or any other better solution.

Task Total Slack Calculated values mismatching with the values in reporting database

We require 'Task Total Slack' as one of the items in a report for Project Server 2010. We're developing the reports using SSRS wherein the SQL Queries are fired on the reporting database of Project Server 2010.
We've come across a situation wherein the total slack values from reporting database for tasks are mismatching with the values that are seen in either PWA or Project Professional for total slack field. We also could not find a consistent factor by which
the slack is multiplied for reflecting in the database in case the Slack in days was being converted into Hours in reporting databse.
Is there a definite way that these values are being represented in reporting database which is quite different from the way these values are seen in Project Professional? Please help resolving this issue.

Can you give an example of the mismatch? Also you could tell us if this is happening for all tasks and all projects. Your concern may be seen from 2 different points of view:
Either this is indeed a bug with a slack of 2 days for example in Project Pro and 4 days in your report from the reporting DB. In this case, you should check if the projects have been published correctly and if the Reporting DB is correctly sync'ed with
the draft DB.
Or it could be the normal behavior and it is just a matter of finding why. For example, the durations are stored in the DB in minutes, meaning that a 1day duration might be stored as 480 if you have 8 working hours in a day (8*60).

Display In Between Prompts Value in Report Title

So that when user download the report he will come to know the date range.

I would add one thing to Saichand's solution which I use for the situation you describe. If you create two dashboard prompts one for the "from" date and the other for the "to" date and then modify your filter on the date column to be:
datecolumn >= @{From_Date} AND datecolumn <= @{To_Date}
...then you just need to add two more columns to your report to house the presentation variables. Make these columns the first two so that in your Narrative View you can reference them as "Between @1 and @2"
You don't need another report to place on top of your current one, just add the Narrative View to your existing report.

Count distinct values in report builder

i have a situation where i have to count distinct number of customers.
i have a query which returns the list of values of bill_to_customer_id from ra_customer_trx_all table and i have to display only the number of distinct customers. i cant do this in the query because it has to be grouped and i am doing it in an aging report. i have to list the number of distinct customers in each aging period. can anybody please help me how to achieve this in reports 6i.

How to fulfill the virtual characteristic value into report

      I am working on one reporting requirement that needs to add reference date (virtual characteristic) field to report.
      I have added reference date field to query and able to display the field in report.But I am not able to display reference date field runtime data in to report output.

You can achieve this using Customer Exit or BADI. Check the folllowing link.

If you are using BADI
You can create Virtual CHAR in BADI using transaction SE19
In this transaction you can create a new or display the existing BADI.
There you can see two tabs
The Attribute Tab we need to give the name of the Multiprovider on which the query with the virtual char is getting executed.
The Inerface Tab has three following sections. Need to write the ABAP code for all the three.
Define : Defind all the characteristics and virtual char that will be used for populating virtual char
Initialize : Initialize them
Compute : Here you will have to write the logic for populating the virtual char.
Once the logic is written then you can use this char in your query .
