Difference in MIDL output beween Win32 and x64

Hi,
Currently we are using the MIDL compiler to generate _i.h (header), _i.c (IID), and .tlb (type library) files.  Since we are using the universal marshaller, we don't need proxy/stub files.
1. I am assuming there is no significant difference between those files when generated in a debug vs a release build for the same platform.  Is that assumption correct?
2. Currently I don't see any significant difference between our generated headers and IID files when generated for Win32 platform vs x64 platform.  Could they be different between the two platforms?  We are sticking to automation/variant compatible
types -- just in case that affects the answer.
3. I do see what appear to be significant differences between the .tlbs generated for the Win32 vs the x64 platform.  Is that correct?
Thanks in advance.
Nick

Thanks for your response.
For the first question, I am aware that the C++ compiler does optimizations in a release build.  Were you trying to say that: (a) the MIDL compiler does optimizations when generating tlb files in release, or (b) the answer is obvious, there
is no difference between debug/release for these generated files?  I am guessing you meant (b), but just checking.
As for the differences between 32-bits and 64-bits for .tlb files, could you expand why they are the same?  When I did a binary/hex comparison between them for debug/release, I only saw very few changes, all around the date/time stamp section, so the
differences appeared to be insignificant.  However, when I did a binary comparison between 32-bits and 64-bits, the differences were all over the place (mostly 1-byte differences oddly enough).  I don't know enough about differences between 32-bit
and 64-bit binaries to know what that means.
I did a bit more reading into this and found the following.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms810720.aspx
As of summer 1999, (i.e. Windows 2000 Pro RCx releases), the 64b type libraries are supported by mapping 32b *.TLB files. When porting
a project using TLBs, one should build 32b TLB files in the 32b environment for the project. Then the native 64b oleaut32.dll provides an appropriate 64b mapping for the TLB files at runtime.
Then there is this from https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa367323(v=vs.85).aspx :
win32
Directs the MIDL compiler to generate stub files, or a type library file,
for a 32-bit environment.
ia64
Directs the MIDL compiler to generate stub files, or a type libraryfile, for a Intel Architecture 64-bit (IA64) environment.

  • Difference between ALC Forms ES module and ALC Output ES module

    Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has implemented just the Adobe Output ES module in any of the projects.
I am into a project where we are integrating ALC with one of the insurance application for document generation and correspondence generation.
Confused whether to go with Forms ES module, Output ES module or both?
Can someone please throw light on these modules? I know there is info on the website but would like to know the advantages and disadvnantages of using either one of the module or both?
If just Output module is used how will the insurance application interact with ALC?

    Jianghuai,
The link you have gotten from Ivan provides great information sources.
Note that those are not four different distributions, meaning linux-based operating systems, all are RHEL -- check out the FAQ, items 1 and 2. I would say main differences between family members are licensing and support offerings or subscriptions. AS, ES for "server" and WS, Desktop for the "desktop".
"ES is licensed for servers with up to 2 CPUs and 16GB of main memory while AS is licensed for servers of any size and any architecture."
Oracle products are generally not supported on the desktop variants.

  • What is the difference between component(Y, Pb, Pr) and component(R,G,B)?

[I previously posted this question in another thread as hadn't realised how to post new question]
    Q. What is the difference between component (Y, Pb, Pr) and component (R,G,B) ?
I’d previously thought I was reasonably savvy on all things HD, but when I turned my thoughts to looking into getting a mac mini to run part of my home cinema I realise I have some confusions around the above.
    Here’s what I think I know:-
The mac mini has a DVI output of the type which can output both digital and analogue, and so via physical adapters it could be used to connect to displays that take HDMI or VGA style RGB leads.
I know on the market I can get a DVI to Component cable lead which would therefore lead me to assume it could drive my HD plasma with component input (Y,Pb,Pr), as I currently drive the HD TV via component cable with a SKY HD box (720p and 1080i), an xbox 360 (720p) and a progressive scan DVD player (480p), all through a Denon AV-amp.
The problem is, I’ve heard somewhere that the DVI to component is R,G,B only and that it is not Y, Pb, Pr which is making me wonder it a) this will work and b) if I really understand component video afterall.
I notice the Apple TV outputs Y,Pb,Pr but colours them red, green and blue, so am even more confused….
Hopefully someone can help educate me on this !

    Thanks for this.
My Plasma is a Panasonic 42" Viera March 2005 model. No HDMI, No VGA.
It can process signals up to 720p and 1080i via the component (an interestingly it makes a huge difference over SD even though the native panel is 480..!?!)
Am I right in thinking that the iPod component cable will also be R,G,B and therefor might be a suitable trial? Ie. if the TV accepts the input from the iPod then it should work for the mini?
Only other thing of note is I'm doing all this via my Denon 1707 AV amp which does have the facility of upscaling, but I imagine it needs to stick to one format?
    Thanks.

  • Difference in the Balance between FS10N and Customer Balances in Local Curr

    Hi,
When i am trying to match the Balances between FS10N and Customer Balances in Local Currency for the Period 8, we are getting the difference, The reconcilliaton Account was changed on 30.08.2010.
Please help Us in tracing the differences between FS10N and Customer Balances in Local Currency.
What could be the possible reasons for the differences..
    Thanks

    Hi Varshani,
Please use the program/report SAPF070 to compare or reconcile your AR with GL balances. You can use SAPF071 to correct any inconsistencies. Provided below documentation for these programs.
SAPF070  - Compare Documents and Account Transaction Figures
    Description
This program compares debit and credit transaction figures in customer, vendor, and G/L accounts with the debit and credit totals from documents posted in the corresponding posting period (accounting reconciliation). The sales totals are also compared for customer and vendor accounts. There is no separate comparison for special G/L transactions.
A comparison for G/L accounts can be made in company code currency and in parallel currencies (such as group currency). A comparison for customer and vendor accounts can only be made in company code currency.
After the program has finished, a message is issued to the user that started the program. This message summarizes the results of the reconciliation.
    Output
The program compares the totals of an account on a periodic basis. If the debit and credit total differs between account and documents, the account is printed with the debit and credit totals and the difference.
Differences in G/L accounts are shown per transaction currency. The first line shows the amount in local currency, the second line shows the amounts in transaction currency.
If a document which falls within the selection range is posted during the program run, the program is terminated since a reliable result can no longer be delivered.
SAPF071 - Adjust Balances after Comparing Documents/Transaction Figures
    Description
If a financial accounting comparative analysis (SAPF190) or a comparison of documents and transaction figures (SAPF070) shows that there are differences between documents and transaction figures, you can use this program to make an adjustment. The documents form the basis for this adjustment. The program adjusts the (redundant) transaction figures, which are only totals of amounts from documents.
    Requirements
All of the following listed requirements must be fulfilled:
    1. A financial accounting comparative analysis (SAPF190) or a comparison of documents and transaction figures (SAPF070) must be made, and differences must be found between documents and transaction figures.
    2. There must not be any inconsistent documents found. These are listed in both SAPF070 and SAPF190 as well as in this program.
    3. There cannot be any problems in the other modules. Caution: You have to check this yourself. Financial Accounting may be correct but the other modules may not be, and this will adversely affect the program run.
    4. You can only make the adjustment in the ledgers which are compared by program SAPF070. This is ledger 00 or a user-defined ledger for all parallel local currencies except the group currency. (The program displays these ledgers). You have to adjust any additional ledgers as well as average balance ledgers yourself.
    5. No documents during the period in which you are adjusting transaction figures can be archived. Caution: You must ensure that these documents are not archived by establishing appropriate organizational rules and procedures.
Only use this program after consulting with SAP or after checking the prerequisites thoroughly.
You should adjust all differences together for a single company code. By setting the program parameters you can limit the adjustment to G/L currency types or to balances in subledgers.
It is advisable to execute a test run first, which will list any differences that are found.
    Further notes - Authorizations

Why does final cut x not recognize the sharp PN- K321 monitor ( European version ) as output video monitor, and premiere yes?
Working with two cinema display and PN- K321 and I can not preview the output video at 4K by DisplayPort, whereas with premiere and after effects I have no problems

Look, you can build an HD DVD with an SD movie, just as you can build an SD DVD with an HD movie. This is not a bug, it is most likely user error. Apple will not be addressing it.
Just start over, and ensure you are building an SD DVD by bringing up the inspector for the disc (click on the background in the Graphical tab).
Make sure SD DVD is selected:
(If you do the same thing on your ill fated project, you'll see that HD DVD is selected)
Build your DVD and you'll be fine.
    Patrick
P.S. You will need to google HD DVD and Blu-Ray if you want to understand the difference between the formats. The reason that DVDSP included HD DVD was that its format was similar to SD DVD's. Blu-Ray is something else entirely.

    oracle support says it best:
    When cursor_sharing = exact,
we don't convert the literal into binds and hence we know the actual size of the
format mask. So buffer length is computed and known.
When cursor_sharing = similar / force, the intention is to reuse the cursor for similar types of statements to avoid re-parsing. So the server converts the literal (format mask) into a bind. At this stage we don't know the actual size of the data, and set buffer length to be maximum, however this affects the display of the column header length in SQLPLUS; not the actual data .

    Ok.
I wrote a program which gives the execution of time of the procedure. Now my problem is when i am running the procedure in oracle the execution time taken is 10 to 11secs.
When i run the program written in java to find the execution time of procedure I got the output as( i posted) from 24sec-28sec
but when I debug the same program its giving an execution time 10secs to 11secs
Why there is difference in the execution times while debugging and during execution of my program?
To me execution time from 10-11 secs is correct because if run procedure on oracle its showing the same.

  • Difference between HR Forms Smartforms sapscript and PE51

    Hai all,
Could anyone give me the exact difference between HR Forms Smartforms sapscript and PE51.
    Thanks in advance,
    S.Jenibalet.

    HR Forms
The Layout Editor can be used is Adobe Designing tool or Smart form Tool.
The HR Forms Workplace (which will be called the Forms Workplace from now
on) will enable you in future to create flexible reports with an attractive layout for HR master data,
personnel time data, and payroll results.
    Smartforms
SMARTFORMS as the SAPScript successor tool is also used to generate formatted documents which can contain logos, tables and other formatting objects. And this documents can look like a pre-printed documents that normal ABAP codes cannot possible. The SAP SmartForms replace the SAPscript forms. SAP SmartForms offer the following advantages: 1)Creating and maintaining forms requiring half the time 2) Adapting forms without any programming knowledge due to entirely graphical user interface 3) Web Publishing using the generated XML output Here you will get some SAP SMARTFORMS tutorials and PDF guides to download.
You use SAP Smart Forms to create and maintain forms for mass printing in SAP Systems. As
output medium SAP Smart Forms support a printer, a fax, e-mail, or the Internet (by using the
    generated XML output).
    sapscript
SAPSCRIPTS are used to generate formatted documents which can contain logos, tables and other formatting objects. And this documents can look like a pre printed documents that normal ABAP codes cannot possible. SAPscript comprises these five components: 1)an editor for entering and editing the lines of a text. 2)styles and forms for print layout. 3)the composer as central output module. 4)a programming interface 5)several database tables for storing texts, styles and forms. Here you will get some SAPSCRIPTS tutorials and Pdf guides to download.
    PE51
There are Limitataions for PE51.You can use only for HR module specifically for Payroll.

  • Difference Between Cahs Sales, Rush Order and Standard Order

    Hi gurus,
I want to know whole configration for rush order and difference between 1. Rush order and cash sales. 2. cash sales and standard order.
Would u please help me for this...
    Regards
    Prashant.

    Hi,
    1) Cash sale : in this delivery automatically happen when you save the sales order.  After that you have to give an invoice to the customer.
    2) Rush order. Here also delivery automatically happen when you save the sales order. But the difference is you can send invoice after some time but the delivery should happen immidately.
If you goto any super market first, you pick up the item and then pay the bill and then you will get the bill, this process is cash sales.
Cash sales is order related billing whereas RO is delivery related.
Cash sales is not relevant for availability check as you will be picking the goods whereas RO is relevant for availability check.
Cash sales is also not relevant for credit management whereas RO is relevant credit management.
Cash sales uses RD03 as output which immediately prints the invoice whereas RO uses standard output RD00.
Cash sales has one time customer account group where as RO normally doesn't.
For cash sales order type is BV or CS and for RO it is RO
Cash sales triggers petty cash a/c where as in RO customers account is debited.
Delivery and settlement will be done immediately in cash sales where as in RO only delivery will be done immediatrly.
    Rush Order/Cash Sales u2013
Rush orders and Cash sales are sales document types that are used in the sales from plant process or when the customer needs to pick their goods immediately from the warehouse.
In the sales document type, the following changes have to be made for rush order/cash sales u2013
    a. order type u2013 RO/CS
    b. shipping conditions u2013 immediately
    c. immediate delivery u2013 X
    d. lead time in days u2013 not to be specified
    e. delivery type u2013 LF/BV
    f. billing type u2013 F2/BV
    g. item category u2013 TAN/BVN
    h. schedule line category u2013 CP/CP
In case of rush orders and cash sales once the goods have been withdrawn from the warehouse, picking and posting goods issue can begin.
In case of rush orders, when you create the billing documents the system prints the invoice papers and sends them to the customer.
But in case of cash sales, an order related billing index is generated automatically. This updates the billing due list. Billing type BV is created, while the billing due list is being processed and the system does not print invoices during billing for a cash sale.
In cash sales when you save the order, the system automatically generates a cash receipt that can be given to the customer as an invoice and the goods are picked up from the warehouse immediately by the customer. You control the output with output type RD03, contained in the output determination procedure for order type CS.

  • Does a DAC make a lot of sound difference when connected between an iMac and a good receiver?

I have one of the better Yamaha receivers plus two Cerwin-Vega bookshelf speakers plus an Infinity sub that sound pretty good playing the AAC(mostly 256) files on my iMac. I've heard that a DAC can really make a difference. Can anyone confirm that and possibly even make a DAC recommendation?

The DAC manufacturers and, I am sure, enthusiastic audiofiles, will make all kinds of claims that an external DAC makes a huge difference.   I urge some caution however because you would necessarily also have to have high end audio equipment (amp, speakers & wiring) as well as a near-perfect environment (studio, anyone?) in order to hear a meaningful difference just because of the DAC.   It's not just a matter of having a DAC, it's the entire audio setup that makes the difference.
IMHO if your system is at home and you have a reasonably good amp & speakers, the analog output from your Mac will deliver excellent performance and you would be hard put to discern a difference by putting a DAC in the audio chain.  At least, that's been my experience.
Also, if your Yamaha amp has optical digital input, you can connect it directly to your Mac's audio out (combined headphone + optical digital output) ... without needing a separate DAC.

  • What is the difference between the 2011 airport extreme and the old version

As per title if any one can help. What is the difference between the 2011 airport extreme and the old version

According to the FCC reports, there is a significant difference in the power output of the g/n radios at both 2.4 and 5ghz.
Follow the following links, then select the "Report" for each.

This should mean a fairly significant increase in range with the new model.  I would imagine these changes would be consistent with the Time Capsule as well.
