Difference in SAP Time Zone - Time in SAP System

Hi,
I am facing a problem in the SAP system time zone settings.
In my ECC and BI systems the System Time Zone and the User Time Zone is maintained as INDIA. When I check the system status using System -> Status -> Usage Data, I find the below mentioned details.
Previous logon       10/26/2009  11:20:41
Logon                                         11:43:25
System time                                12:48:13
Time zone               INDIA           23:18:13
The problem is the time shown after the Time Zone INDIA - "23:18:13", where the time should be "12:48:13". The mentioned time in the field should be the same as the system time. At the OS level I find the date and time of the system to be correct. We are running on
date
Mon Oct 26 12:52:21 CDT 2009
I have tried re-setting the timezones to CET and restarting the machine, but still the TimeZone Time does not change.
Because of this I face issues in functional transactions where the after the 24th hour in a day, the date increments and users wrongly choose the entries in the From date field in many transactions.
Please share a solution for the same.
Thank you
Regards,
Vineeth

Vineeth,
When you use System > Status in SAP, it lists the system time zone - which in your case would be 12:48 and be CDT.  This appears to be correct and it matches your OS time.  The time mentioned underneath "system time" is the time zone assigned to your SAP user ID in SU01.  This should not be relevant to any data, but if you wish to change it you should be able to via SU01.
You said "The problem is the time shown after the Time Zone INDIA - "23:18:13", where the time should be "12:48:13" "
Most likely "India time" is specified in your SU01 profile.  This is normal to have a local time for this; and its probably not related to your issue.  The system time is what is important.
Hope this helps,
Ian

  • E-mail trigger delay - Time Zone (CET) ahead of System Time (UTC)

    Hi,
We have developed a Z program which triggers e-mail whenever the critical System / Interface user id gets locked in the SAP Netweaver System. However, the e-mail is generated by the program in the Time Zone which is in CET and sits in t-code SOST and is sent to our mailbox in System Time which is in UTC (GMT) which is currently 2 hours behind. Hence, there is a delay of 2 hours for generated e-mail alert to be sent to our mail box. Is there any process to avoid this delay?
In the test system manually we can reduce the wait time by 2 hours in t-code SOST and then the mail gets triggered immediately. But can this be achieved programmatically so that the time in which e-mail gets generated always displays the system time in t-code SOST. Or, is there is a configuration where the e-mail is sent to our mail box from t-code SOST in Time Zone (CET) itself and not wait till the displayed time reaches System Time (UTC).
Thank you very much for your earliest response.
    Regards,
    SANJEEV KUMAR

In t-code STZAC both System Time and Useru2019s Default Time Zone is same (CET).
However, when I see in the menu System->Status I find the System Time is displayed in UTC, while Time Zone is in CET.
In other clients where system time is displayed in CET, there is no problem. The e-mail spool from SOST which displays CET time is actually triggered in the System Time. In case the System Time is CET, mail is triggered immediately. In case System Time is UTC, it waits UTC time to reach the displayed CET time, which is currently of 2 hours gap.
Is it possible to change the system time of the problematic client to CET to solve this problem. Please let me know what configuration can be done for this.

  • How do you change the time zone/time on the iPod nano (6th generation)?

    Hello,
I recently moved to a new city in another time zone and I am not able to figure out (or find out on forums) how to change the time on my 6th gen iPod nano. It's something I would like to fix because the Fitness application records your activity according to time. Any advice would be great!

Go to SETTINGS on your iPod Nano 6G.
From SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> DATE & TIME -> TIME ZONE and select the right zone/location form there.

  • The impact of changing SAP system time zone.

    Hello gurus,
We are in the company located in UTC+8 Time Zone. but during the system installation, the setting in SAP (tcode:STZAC) of the system time zone is CET, which is, not correct, and cause some issues: such as, when we try to send mail via SAP smtp, the sent time in the mail is always wrong.
We tried to modify it to UTC+8, but since we already go live for several months, there're lots of application data in the system. Before that we need to make sure that this change will not affect the current implementation.
Do you experts know the impact or risk of changing the system time zone after going live?
    Regards,
    Charlie

Lets look at this from a logic perspective,  if your system is CET and you are moving to UTC+8 you are going a few hours ahead... so basically you'll find a gap in time in between the documents but you wont find any time conflict. So based on that it should be safe. You certainly need to check your jobs and make sure all necesary jobs will run so you can reschedule them if skipped by the time change (I guess).

  • Synchronize system time and set system time zone in SAP

    Hi,
How to Synchronize system time and set system time zone in any SAP system?

    Nabarun -
Setting of the system time may be different depending on your enviroment and systems.  (Windows, AIX, etc)
Windows enviroment you can use a time server or net time command, I believe its simialr with UNIX but I do not know that command.
Setting the time zone in SAP is done through the IMG in client 000.  You can get there with transaction SPRO.
Once in the IMG, navigate to:
    SAP Netweaver
    General settings
    Time Zones
Maintain Time Zones (here you can define the time zone settings/rules)
    Then go to:
    SAP Netweaver
    General settings
    Time Zones
    Maintain System Settings
There you can change the time zones for the system.
    Hope this helps.

  • Time Zone Activation

    Hello,
I am trying to determine how the time zone functionality is activated in SAP ERP.
There is a checkbox labeled "Time Zones Active" in the IMG at SPRO>NetWeaver>General Settings>Time Zones>Maintain System Settings.
If I enter a time zone which is different than the system time zone in my user profile, the system posts entries in my local time REGARDLESS of whether the checkbox above is checked.
Is there another place where the time zone function is activated/de-activated?
    Thanks,

  • UTC Time Zone Impact to Sales & Distribution

We've decided to set out time zone for UTC within the system, while the individual users will set their time zones accordingly.  However, we feel this may lead to some issues with the 6-7 hr time zone difference as most of the users are in Eastern Time or Central Time.  Orders which are created after 7pm Eastern time are recorded as created the following day.
I'm sure some of you SD gurus have came across and discussed this same problem during the course of a project.. just looking for some specifics to look for when it comes to time zone issues with SD processing.  (example: batch jobs, variants, time stamps, inbound sales IDocs from different time zones, sales orders data conversion time stamps, date extracts to BI)

Keep the user time zones in the user profile (t.code SU01). By this way, user transactions will reflect the user time zone -time stamps. For example check this thread Is PGI date beased on system date or user profile time zone date?
Most of the time the basis team can help you to over come the issues. You can also do some testing related to background job running, IDOC receipt/send etc in the test system for clear understanding.

  • Time Zones

    Dear Experts,
Can the time zone (system & user) be changed?
Could you advice the effect or impact if this were to be changed?
Why must time zones be used? Can it not be used if no international systems / access involved?
    Does this affect database time?
    Would really appreciate your advice.
    Regards,
    Ernesta

    > Dear Experts,
    >
    > Can the time zone (system & user) be changed?
    Should be possible.
    > Could you advice the effect or impact if this were to
    > be changed?
If you change the system time-zone, the local time calculation will change accordingly, and, there will be a difference in some of the presented data. For example, if system time zone was changed from PST to Tokyo time, the default date appearing in say txn MB01 may change (as the system will now calculate the local time of the user assuming the system time to be local Tokyo time). I would think changing time zone in a production system may not be a good idea. A user time zone can ofcourse be changed with minimal effect.
    > Why must time zones be used? Can it not be used if no
    > international systems / access involved?
I would think it is because all locations do fall in some time-zone, and it may be required when there are multiple timezones used later.
If the system/users are all on the same timezone, the effect of setting all of them to any timezone (as long as they are both same) will be nil.
    > Does this affect database time?
Am not sure what you mean by this. For timestamping purpose, the CPU time of the application server is used for table fields (like update date and time fields). If that remains unchanged, it shouldn't matter.
I would think it is not a good idea to change system time-zones on a production system. Just my opinion.

  • SRM - Warning Msg "Time zone CST not valid in country US"

    Dear SRM Experts,
I'm working on an issue where when the user try to edit the PO, system return the WARNING as below:
Time zone CST not valid in country US (several possibilities)
When I drill into this warning message, here is the content:
    Diagnosis
    1. If the time zone entered is not maintained as the default setting for the country.
    2. If the time zone entered for the country and region is not maintained as the default setting for this combination of country and region.
    3. If the time zone entered for the country and postal code is not maintained as the default setting for this combination of country and postal code.
    System Response
The warning AM 482 is displayed under the circumstances detailed above.
    Procedure
Delete the entry in the field "time zone". The default time zone for the combinationof country, region and postal code will then be used, provided it has been maintained in the IMG ("Maintain time zones") .
    Procedure for System Administration
My PO is meant for US Arizona. Base on IMG configuration, CST time zone has already configured for US country code.
Your advice will be very much appreciated, thank you.

  • Changing Time Zones-Muse Thinks Assets' Data has Changed

I moved to Hawaii this week. Yay!
Changed the Time Zone in Apple's System Preferences. Opened a Muse project. Muse thinks the Assets' data has changed and wants to update all the linked files! I assume that it will then want to re-upload everything when published.
Changed the location back to my original place, and Muse thinks everything is fine.
Adobe InDesign does not have this problem. Neither does Illustrator. Those report links in their files are fine. So, maybe Muse should check System Preferences > Date and Time > Time Zone before saying that an asset has been modified.

This is a bug in iOS5 (don't think it happened in iOS4).
It's now Sunday am, and instead of Cupertino, my IOS5 iPhone now thinks I am in Denver.  Apparently, Apple puts the iPhone not into an AZ timezone that doesn't change to DST, but the time zone the phone is currently "in synch" with - CA in the summer, CO in the Winter.
That is fine for current apponintments, and it also does explain while half my appointments in the weeks coming were wrong (off by an hour) until this morning.  After all, I didn't stay in Phoenix and the time didn't change, I moved from California to Colorado to keep the same time, so some appointments shifted by an hour.
Let's hope Apple fixes this in time for us in Phoenix not to go back on DST - otherwise, appointments past the time change may or may not be right until all of Phoenix moves from Denver back to Cupertino again!

I've moved time zones. How do I change the time zone of all my extant events to be in the new time zone?

    Dr. Pantzo,
I will presume you are using Snow Leopard.
Use iCal>Preferences...>Advanced>Turn on time zone support.
Open System Preferences...>Date & Time>Time Zone: either check "Set time zone automatically," or pick your closest city.

  • Time-Zone Help. User Time Zone and SAP Time Zone!

    Hi Experts,
Guys, I want to know how to check and change time in SAP system. The reason I want to know if when I go to su01 and display my user, under Default tab>> Sys. Time Zone is different. So, I am guessing that I have to change time zone which is causing my CCMS-Alert auto-reaction.
    Thanks,
    I will reward points.

    Hi Prince,
Cool!! Just wanted to confirm and clear things up.
    1. My OS time is PST and upto date. I have checked by typing date in unix.
    2. As you have mentioned (Txn STZAC). I think STZAC is a T-code in which I can change time zone but what is Txn? Also, when changing time zone, do I have to make client modifiable in se06?
    3. As you have also wrote that I can add (TIME_ZOME) in parameter of Auto-reaction Z_method. Just to confirm, is that how I will add.
    Parameter Name: Time_Zone
    Parameter Value: PST
on the Parameter value, do I need to add any syntax or characters such as $PST, (pst) etc...
    Thanks for your help!

  • SAP Time zone vs oracle time zone

    Hello Experts,
I am confused by SAP's system time zone setting and oracle database's time zone setting.
Can I change SAP time zone setting without affecting the database time? Are they the same thing? Must I restart SAP / database / server after the TZ change at SAP-level to effect it? Is OS time zone = database time zone = SAP time zone?
Has this anything to do with database timestamp?
    Pls advice.
    Regards,
    Ernesta
(I promise to award full points for best answer).

    Hello ernesta,
As I know, SAP's time is a mathematic calculation on the server/database's time.
This calculation is called time zone. Using transaction STZBC you can change your country's settings (for example CET+2 and etc). After the changing you'll have to restart the SAP instance.
You can set time zone setting to specific users via transaction SU01.
Furthermore, I suggest you to read several notes, maybe they could help you in the future:
Note 184992 - Country/time zone assignment not correct
Note 129266 - One hour time deviation
Note 102088 - End of daylight saving time: the "double hour"
Note 081950 - Time zones: local date in dialog and in RFC
