Different behaviour of a application inside/outside a portal

Hello,
i want to run a web-application inside a portal. If the iview(URL-IView) is running inside the portal the input fields of the application are not editable. You first have to press a submit button. Then it works.
If the iview starts in a new window or outside the portal everything is working fine. I can't influence the bahaviour of the web-application. So my question: Is there a iview-property to influence this behaviour,so that i can run application inside a portal-page? Outside a portal it is running fine.
Regards
Marco

Hi Marco,
> that simulates the iview running as an web-application
> outside the portal
In most cases, the applications behave totally normal. Problems arise if for example an application uses frames and does reference to _top (which inside the portal returns a different (wrong) source than standalone).
> What kind of application-JS could influence this
> different application behaviour?
For example: See above. But as said originally: This is almost indeterminable remotely...
Hope it helps

  • Different behaviour inside a Thread

    Hello ,
    I am developing a software to help in automating certain tasks related to certain voice switch , i connect to the switch using ssh . i send commands generally using a button that ptints the content of a textbox into the outputstream . every thing works fine as long as i print the command into the outputstream from the code of the button press event . This hangs the interdace because i have to wait for a specific output format . So i used a Thread to execute the same code so that the interface doesn't hang . The strange thing is after the thread finishes i am not able to receive any thing from the switch ( although the printing into the output stream doesn't produce any exceptions and this is not the same if i executed the same code without the thread) . The question is why the program has different behaviour inside a thread and outside it ?
    Best Regards ,

    >
    Sounds like this actually is more related to Swing than concurrency (if I'm correct). I think that everything is working, but you are failing to update the UI with the result. You are only allowed to update the UI from the AWT thread, so you probably need to publish the result using invokeLater or use a SwingWorker.

  • How to make different inside/outside margins for only one section?

    I'm creating a Pages template and want to have several different section layouts. I've figured out most of them, but haven't been able to get one section to work as I want it.
    The problem is that I want a 3 inch left margin on odd-numbered pages, and a 3 inch right margin on even-numbered pages, but for this section only (because it will have graphic objects in those margins). Other sections should have standard symmetrical margins.
    I figure this should be possible, but I'm not selecting the right combination of properties. I tried searching the help file for "gutter", which is what the command was back in PageMaker, but couldn't find anything.

    With your cursor in the section you want to change the margins, go to the layout inspector (second icon) & click Section. The second selection under Configuration is Left and right pages are different. Then in Layout the left & right margin settings are named inside & outside. You can see the effect by displaying your document 2-up.

  • Officejet Pro 251dw won't print with applications inside Parallels 9

    I've used HP printers with my Mac computers for years and had no problems, even when I was working with Windows XP and Windows-based applications inside Parallels Desktop on the Mac. All I would have to do to have the Windows-based software capture the printer (connected with a USB cord) was to click on a drop-down menu item under "USB." Recently I upgraded our OS to Mavericks and had to upgrade Parallels from Version 6 to Version 9. A week ago we had to replace our old HP Deskjet 6500 printer, and we chose the Officejet Pro 251dw. We connected the new printer wirelessly to our home network, and we were able to print from both our desktop iMac and our MacBook Pro with no difficulties. But when I needed to print something from PrintMaster 12, a Windows-based desktop publishing program running on Windows XP inside Parallels Desktop 9, the job wouldn't print, and I got a message that the printer wasn't connected. After doing my own troubleshooting, I spent several hours on the phone with Parallels tech support, including having them connect to my computer over LogMeIn and change all sorts of settings, but the best I could get was that the printer queue report said that the job was printing, but the touch screen on the printer flashed rapidly back and forth from "printing" to the date and time, with a large red X next to the date-time read-out, and still no job printed. After having two or three first-level techs and then a second-level engineer working on the setup, the Parallels people finally gave up and said that the problem must be in the settings inside the printer and that we'd have to have someone who works with printers.adjust them. Has anyone out there had this sort of problem working with Parallels Desktop 9 and the Mavericks OS? It wasn't just the desktop publishing software; the same thing happened when the engineer went into the Windows XP printer settings and tried to print a test page.

    Rocky8,
    This is a little outside our area of printing, but I'll try and help you the best I can. My question for you is the printer showing up under the USB menu in Parallels. If it's not showing up then you need to determine why the USB connection isn't showing up in your Parallels USB menu.  This could be a couple of issues, but the one that I think might be happening is the version of the USB port your using.  Can you verify that you're not connecting the printer via a USB 3.0 port.  Try plugging into one of your other USB ports to see if the printer will show up in the parallels USB menu.

  • SQL Server Management Studio and Native Client different behaviour on delete

    I have a problem with transaction containing insert and delete to same table and some select/insert/update to some other tables. Problematic table has primary key defined as combination of column1 and column2.
    When two different instances using Native Client execute simultaneously this code and make inserts to table then delete part of code causes deadlock. However this doesn't happen when trying this situation in MS SQL Server Management Studio query.
    Is there some option that is missing from Native Client connection string which can cause this different behaviour?

    Hello,
    I don't think there is a difference in the behavior. SSMS uses ADO.NET and that Provider base on the Native Client.
    The difference will be more that way, when the transaction is commited and so the locks released. I guess your application keeps the transaction (much) longer open; you should commit a transaction as soon as possible to avoid long time locks and so
    deadlocks.

  • Different behaviour of XMLType storage

    hi,
    I have problem with different behaviour of storage type "BINARY XML" and regular storage ( simple CLOB I guess) of the XMLType datatype.
    Setup
    - Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit Production
    - XML file ( "Receipt.xml" ) with a structure like :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ESBReceiptMessage xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
         <ESBMessageHeader>
              <MsgSeqNumber>4713</MsgSeqNumber>
              <MessageType>Receipt</MessageType>
              <MessageVersion>1.1</MessageVersion>
         </ESBMessageHeader>
         <Receipt>
              <ReceiptKey>1234567-03</ReceiptKey>
              <ReceiptLines>
                   <ReceiptLine><Material><MaterialKey>00011-015-000</MaterialKey></Material><Qty>47.0</Qty></ReceiptLine>
                   <ReceiptLine><Material><MaterialKey>00021-015-000</MaterialKey></Material><Qty>47.0</Qty></ReceiptLine>
                   <ReceiptLine><Material><MaterialKey>00031-015-000</MaterialKey></Material><Qty>47.0</Qty></ReceiptLine>
    .....etc....etc.....etc...
                   <ReceiptLine><Material><MaterialKey>09991-015-000</MaterialKey></Material><Qty>47.0</Qty></ReceiptLine>
                   <ReceiptLine><Material><MaterialKey>10001-015-000</MaterialKey></Material><Qty>47.0</Qty></ReceiptLine>
                   <ReceiptLine><Material><MaterialKey>10011-015-000</MaterialKey></Material><Qty>47.0</Qty></ReceiptLine>
              </ReceiptLines>
         </Receipt>
    </ESBReceiptMessage>=> 1 Header element : "Receipt" and exactly 1001 "ReceiptLine" elements.
    Problem:
    Test 1 :
    drop table xml_ddb;
    CREATE TABLE xml_ddb (id number,xml_doc XMLType);
    INSERT INTO xml_ddb (id, xml_doc)  VALUES (4716,XMLType(bfilename('XMLDIR', 'Receipt.xml'),nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
    select count(1) from (
    SELECT dd.id,ta.Receiptkey,li.materialkey,li.qty
       FROM xml_ddb dd,
            XMLTable('/ESBReceiptMessage/Receipt' PASSING dd.xml_doc
                     COLUMNS ReceiptKey VARCHAR2(28) PATH 'ReceiptKey',
                             ReceiptLine XMLType PATH 'ReceiptLines/ReceiptLine') ta,
            XMLTable('ReceiptLine' PASSING ta.ReceiptLine
                     COLUMNS materialkey VARCHAR2(14)  PATH 'Material/MaterialKey',
                             qty         NUMBER(10)    PATH 'Qty') li
      COUNT(1)
          1001
    1 row selected.The storage of the XMLType column has not been specified.
    => All 1001 detailled rows are selected.
    => Everything is fine
    Test 2 :
    drop table xml_ddb;
    CREATE TABLE xml_ddb (id number,xml_doc XMLType) XMLType xml_doc store AS BINARY XML; -- <---- Different storage type
    INSERT INTO xml_ddb (id, xml_doc)  VALUES (4716,XMLType(bfilename('XMLDIR', 'Receipt.xml'),nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
    select count(1) from (
    SELECT dd.id,ta.Receiptkey,li.materialkey,li.qty
       FROM xml_ddb dd,
            XMLTable('/ESBReceiptMessage/Receipt' PASSING dd.xml_doc
                     COLUMNS ReceiptKey VARCHAR2(28) PATH 'ReceiptKey',
                             ReceiptLine XMLType PATH 'ReceiptLines/ReceiptLine') ta,
            XMLTable('ReceiptLine' PASSING ta.ReceiptLine
                     COLUMNS materialkey VARCHAR2(14)  PATH 'Material/MaterialKey',
                             qty         NUMBER(10)    PATH 'Qty') li
      COUNT(1)
          1000
    1 row selected.Storage of the XMLType column has been defined as "BINARY XML"
    => Only 1000 rows are select
    => One row is missing.
    After some tests : There seems to be a "hard border" of 1000 rows that comes with the different datatype ( So if you put 2000 rows into the XML you will get also only 1000 rows back )
    Question
    As I am a newbie in XMLDB :
    - Is the "construction" with the nested tables in the select-statement maybe not recommended/"allowed" ?
    - Are there different ways to get back "Head" + "Line" elements in a relational structure ( even if there are more than 1000 lines) ?
    Thanks in advance
    Bye
    Stefan

    hi,
    General
    You are right. I have a predefined XSD structure. And now I try to find a way to handle this in Oracle ( up to now, we are doing XML handling in Java ( with JAXB ) outside the DB)
    => So I will take a look at the "object-relational" storage. Thank's for that hint.
    Current thread
    The question, whether there is an "artifical" border of 1000 rows, when joining 2 XML tables together, is still open....
    (although it might be not interesting for me anymore :-), maybe somebody else will need the answer...)
    Bye
    Stefan

  • Using Application Module outside ADF Application context

    Thanks Shay for your response.
    When I run the standalone java class from jDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0, I am able to get application module and also able to get the out put from application module method. While running the java class jdev is exectung the class with javaw command. I tried to execute the same from commnd prompt, it didn't print anything on the command prompt. So I tried to execute java command with "java followed by class path" as below.

  • Different behaviour of Flash content when on server

    Hi
    I have noticed different behaviours of my Flash movie in case
    a/ I am checking offline content (SWF) using the fault view (Show All)
    b/ I am checking  the SWF in a HTML file on a server.
    More concrete: Depending on a number of conditions I attach a movieclip to a certain object. This works fine in offline mode.
    Another example: Depending on a certain zoom level of the application, I unload some SWF.
    All works fine offline.
    When I check this online, the attach movieclip function only works in some cases, the unload of SWF does not work .
    What can be the cause ?
    bestregards

    Not sure about most of your questions -- this is all new stuff for me, too. But on this one item, I hope this helps:
    For example it tells me that a plugin (which has already been installed) needs to be installed.If you installed the Mozilla browser after initially installing the java plugin in IE, then the plugin needs to be installed within the Mozilla browser's plugins directory. And I have never been able to get Netscape or Firefox to install a Forms plugin properly. It seems like I need to run IE to get the plugin installed automatically. Then I go back to the other browser and all is ok. Looking into the Mozilla-based browser's plugins folders, I can see that running the plugin install through IE also copies the corresponding .dll file into all the Mozilla-based browsers' plugins folders.
    But since you have already installed the plugin in IE, I am not sure how you would get it to work for the other browser. But if you can identify the .dll required, just copy it yourself into your Mozilla browser's folder.

  • Call ADF applications inside EBS.

    We are in the process of implementing couple of ADF applications with EBS security realm. I created a simple test app with a simple page and trying to use the EBS JAAS authentication, but its not authorizing for the pages. It looks like its authenticating fine.
    HEre are our Server configuration.
    Webloogic version - 10.3.6.0
    JDeveloper Version - 11.1.2.1
    Middleware version : 11.1.1.5 + interim patches
    p12917525_111150_Generic.zip
    p12979653_111150_Generic.zip
    The security model works fine in the Jdev Integrated WLS.
    I went through serveral documents including Oracle document E28169-01 (note 974949.1). We don't want to call ADF applications inside EBS. Basically we just want to use the EBS Authentication and Authorization for our ADF applications.
    As I mentioned earlier, its definitely authenticating my credentials, but its not authoring the page.

    User,
    I've done something like what Timo describes. We have deployed an application that exposes links to an external BI server to serve up reports/Discoverer workbooks. The URL is obviously different for dev/test/prod - so, what we did was to have a configuration table in the DB that defines such type of configuration parameters. We then have an application-scoped managed bean that sources its attributes from the database table and we refer to that managed bean using EL to construct the URLs. I didn't use web.xml/properties files for this because I wanted to have an EAR deployment artifact that could be deployed to any environment with no change.

  • Different behaviour of j_security_check between 6.1 and 8.1

    Hi,
    we have a web-application that is secured via security-constraints in
    the web.xml. We are authenticating using FORM-based authentification and
    had this app deployed on a wls6.1. Now we have moved to 8.1 and have a
    different behaviour between 6.1 and 8.1 for log-in forms using the
    j_security_check. We have login-boxes on most pages:
    <form method="POST" action="j_security_check">
                                  Username<br><input type="text" name="j_username" size=11
    class="texteingabe"><br>
                                  Password<br><input type="password" name="j_password" size=8
    class="texteingabe"> <input type=image
    src="/dvrWebApp/htdocs/images/pfeil_rechts_hi.gif" border=0><br>
    </form>
    that on 6.1 redirected after the login to the page they were placed on -
    on 8.1 the login redirects to the root of the web-app, regardless of the
    page they are placed- can i change this back to the old 6.1-Behaviour?!
    cheers
    stf

    This sounds like bollocks, I was doing some form based security recently under 8.1 and there was no attempt to direct to any page i was not trying to access.
    The idea is you try to access a protected resource, your not authorized, so you are authenticated, then you continue on to that resource.
    Are you sure, that the resource your accessing does not direct you there because of some inbuilt business logic in your JSP/servlet ?

  • How to use "User Events" in different parts of an application

    Hi,
    "You programmatically can create and name your own events, called user events, to carry user-defined data. Like queues and notifiers, user events allow different parts of an application to communicate asynchronously. You can handle both user interface and programmatically generated user events in the same Event structure."
    What you read was part of labview 7.1 user manual ( Chapter 9 - pg.12 ). I've some problems with the underlined sentence. I hope someone can help me.
    When using Queues, the programmer may use a named queue everywhere in the application. there is no need to wire queue reference among VIs or using global variables to store queue reference. the name of the queue will be all that you need. I wonder if it is also possible with a event refnum that is the output of "Register for Event" node. As far as I've tested. the answer is Negative! I tried to copy-paste refnum in front panels and using the same name. but there is no connection between event refnums.
    LV User manual claims that user events can be used like queues, but it doesn't seem so.
    Does anybody have an idea?
    Best Regards.

    I didn't look at Damien Gray's presentation recently, but if I remember it correctly, it is on a much higher level than what I meant, because it refers to LARGE application. This is a very simple one.
    Using a functional global is not problematic CPU-wise, nor memory wise (unless you get into really big data structures, like hundreds of MBs), so you shouldn't be afraid to use it. I'm also not sure why you're afraid of the loop. The loop is only there to "hold" the USR. It only runs once. If you want, you can replace it with a for loop that runs once. I've recently learned that apparently, you can also get rid of the loop and use a local variable (look at the example called XY chart) instead of a USR. I don't think a local variable should have any more impact than a USR, but that needs to be tested. It can definitely be more convenient for some VIs where you don't have to wire the SR through the entire VI.
    Anyway, you will need to have an "obtain ref" VI which will hold a 1D array of names and a corresponding array of refs. Then, you search the array for the name, and if it finds the name, it extracts the correct reference. You will also need a way to input references and names into the array and possibly a way to empty the array. You may need to have 2 levels - the inner VI will be the LV2 VI and the parent will be the obtain ref\fill array\close VI. You will need some error handling as well - what happens if you search for a name and it can't be found and so on...
    Hope this helps.
    Try to take over the world!

  • Why does Photoshop display colors differently from the other applications even in sRGB mode ?

    Hello all !
    Here is my problem :
    Photoshop is set to use sRGB workspace (in edit/colors.../workspace/RVB).
    If I understand correctly this is how all native windows applications work.
    This means Photoshop and the other applications should display the same colors on a file with a sRGB profile.
    Now this is the case until I calibrate my monitor.
    When I do, Photoshop colors become different from the other applications (irfanview, explorer, browsers...).
    The only way I found to let everything display the same colors is to set Photoshop to use Proofing/RVB Monitor.
    What upsets me even more is that Photoshop colors look "better" to me (dark grays seem to dark to me in the other applications.)
    I have read that this is because Photoshop takes the new profile into account and others applications do not. But I don't think this is relevant here because everything is in sRGB so the only profile is my monitor's and I think calibration is handled globally by windows : everything (including browsers, explorer, and Photoshop) changes color if I choose to apply the monitor's profile or not with windows color management tool ("use my parameters for this device").
    Here is my system configuration :
    - Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2)
    - Windows 7 64 bits
    - HP ZR2440W and DELL 2209WA (these are not wide gamut screens)
    I have spent two days trying to figure the logics behind this and really am upset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't hesitate to ask me if there is something that is unclear or some information I forgot to mention.
    Thanks in advance,
    Yannick

    That sounds like an invitation to continue to talk about the issue.  Fair enough.
    I'm not sure where you're getting "insecurity"...  I am just trying to help you help others more effectively.
    I invite you to re-read just the first sentence of what you wrote very carefully, putting yourself in the shoes of someone struggling with both the terminology and the concepts:
    Photoshop (CMS) reads an embedded ICC profile and CONVERTS it to the custom monitor profile for a theoretical 'true color' display
    Think about what "Photoshop (CMS)" might mean to a person who doesn't know the acronym might stand for "Color Management System" (which is I assume what you meant).  Adobe themselves don't call it "CMS", they use the acronym "CMM" (Color Management Module).  The term "CMS" is used in the computer industry for about a dozen different things.
    While a color profile might have been embedded in an image file before it was opened by Photoshop, Photoshop works on documents.  A profile is not "embedded" in a document, it is maintained by Photoshop with the document and describes the color values in the document.  If Photoshop opens a document without an embedded profile, depending on settings and user choices it might assign a profile or it might even operate on the document without color-management.  Oversimplification doesn't help people when they're trying to learn new things unless it's described as such, for example, "This is a bit of an oversimplification..." or "Generally speaking..."
    Not every monitor profile is a "custom monitor profile".  Quite often a standard profile (e.g., sRGB IEC61966-2.1) is associated with a monitor by the operating system as a default, or a factory profile is installed by a driver package or system update.  Your use of the term "custom" is a bit ambiguous and could be read as implying the creation of a profile using a calibration and profiling device specific to the particular monitor.
    Photoshop's color management code does not convert an embedded ICC profile at all (read carefully what you wrote).  As I said, it transforms color values.  That was the key error in your description that prompted me to comment.
    If ever there is a time to pick words carefully, it's in a color-management discussion.

  • In-different behaviour of join condition

    My query is of in-different behaviour of join condition with join between a varchar2 column and a number column. I am using the following join condition :-
    CM.UPDATED_BY=to_char(LM.LOGIN_ID)
    where CM.UPDATED_BY is a varchar2 column and LM.LOGIN_ID is a number column. Now, CM.UPDATED_BY also has number only but some previous & old data is having varchar2 data. So, for that reason, i put the to_char before LM.LOGIN_ID, otherwise, only
    CM.UPDATED_BY=to_char(LM.LOGIN_ID)
    would having been okay. Now, my real question is that the query with the condition,
    CM.UPDATED_BY=to_char(LM.LOGIN_ID)
    works fine as long as there is no 'character' data in 'CM.UPDATED_BY'. If i put the condition:
    CM.UPDATED_BY=to_char(LM.LOGIN_ID)
    then, the query is taking too long and the output is also not coming. Please help in solving my doubt as i need it resolved urgently.

    1) Did you intend for all 4 join conditions to be identical? From the text of your question, it sounds like some of the conditions should be different.
    2) How do you compare the running time when CM.UPDATED_BY has non-numerica data and when it has numeric data? If you are altering the data in the table, are you reanalyzing the table between runs? Is there a difference in the query plan in the two cases?

  • External Link or iFrames to show a deployed application inside my portal template

    Greetings,
    after days of posting in WebLogic Portal discussion forums with no reply, im posting the same
    discussion here, hoping someone can help me out with this task.
    Im using JDeveloper 11.1.1.7 and i create a web portal application.
    I have adf application deployed to a standalone weblogic server that works fine.
    In my portal i add a extrernal link, inside default-navigation-model (used from oracle's example)
    to render my application inside the portal's context area. (i try to use iFrames, but it didn't work)
    If i add another web page, it works fine, it shows my portal menu on top where the banner is, the menu,
    and below the website. But when i add a extrernal link to show my application, it shows nothing, just
    blank white background. I also noticed this, it happens if i add google website too.
    Is there any security i have to turn it off in weblogic so it can be rendered on my web portal?

    Have you set FRAME_BUSTINH?
    Check Unable to load content in a frame. Frame content will load at the top level
