Different CPU reading on cpufreq

dual core processor normally runs at 2.20 GHz. it's on a thinkpad T61 so when it's not plugged in i like to set:
cpufreq-set -g ondemand. which is supposed to make both processors run at 0.8 GHz, then scale up accordingly.
but when i run it, it sets one proc at 0.8 and the other at 2.20. i didn't even know this was possible
output of cpufreq-info:
cpufrequtils 005: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2006

This could be wrong but its my understanding accross most distros,
On mobile devices (anything that uses a battry) then the system only uses what it needs, so if it dosnt need 2.20 GHz one second then it wont waste power doing so. If for example you start a game up it will then change it to what it needs say 2.20 GHz. Its purley a power-saving tweak. I personally have never had any problems nor noticed any diffrence in performance so i'd say this is a good thing.

  • Different CPU Overload

I read the earlier post about CPU overload. I am not getting the overload error message, Logic just stops when the CPU bar is slammed into the red. I am not using any plug-ins or effects, I do have 48 channels of audio I am trying to mix. I have been using Logic for over a year and a half now and this is a new problem. Is there something else I can check to discover why suddenly I have this overload problem?

    Different CPU Overload
    this is OP question...
I try to answer directly to you:
    Yes!!!
*There are different Logic overloads on different CPUs + audio device*
the overlaods message are strictly related with your CPU + Audio interface + RAM ammout and speed + Front Buss speed + Firewire, USB, PCI cards...
*also external drives spinndown can cause overloads message*
in a Pro Studio... I use workstation without external device...
all Firewire and USB device must be disconnected.. also bluetooth must be off...
(don't use bluetooth Mouse in Professional recording studio)
*Also File sharing and Wirless Airport must be turned to OFF!!!*
(OS X is a multitasking system... this is a great advantage for everyone... except for Professional Live processing power request... reduce to minimum the background running process is a must to avoid overloads and CPU spikes)
The audio cards that require CPU cycles are...
    1) PCI or PCIe cards... Near to 0.1% CPU demand
    2) Firewire... a little bit more (about from 3% to 8%.. depend about firewire Chip set and drivers) of CPU demand
    3) USB = maximum CPU load power request... (more than 10% to 25% and more.. and this percentage rise up related with number of tracks)
(approximately percentage are stryctly related with CPU.. if G4 or G5 or Intels)
*So CPU overload are different and strictly related with your hardware!!!*

  • Could threads of a same process run on different CPU in the same time ?

    Hello,
probably stupid question..., but I would like to understand if several threads inside a same process can run in the same time on separate CPU.
If the response is positive, how can I bind a thread on differant CPU using C API ?
Also what is the algorithm implemented by Solaris for the laod balancing ?
Is there any white paper on this subject ?
    Thanks for any tips

Threads in the same process can run at the same time on separate CPUs.
You can bind a thread to a CPU using the processor_bind(2) API.
That algorithm is not public. You will have to wait for OpenSolaris so that you can look at the implementation at that time.
There is much public documentation on Solaris threading support on the web. Use google. The following document provides a good historical context of Solaris thread support.

  • Different CPU utilization on ESX VMware servers of Netweaver Portal

    Hello,
we are running an Enterprise Portal NW 7.0, SPS20. The application servers are running on 6 ESX VMware servers.
Although all application servers have almost the same amount of user sessions and the same processes on all servers,
always one of the servers have more than the double amount of CPU utilization than all other servers !
We found out, that this phänomen appears, as soon as one of the VM servers is running on a different physical hardware.
As soon as all servers are running on the same physical hardware, the problem does not exist.
Does anyone have experiences with the topic (Portal-)application servers on ESX VMware and different CPU utilization ?
    Best regards,

  • How a administrator user is different from read-write user in Aruba Central?

Q: How a administrator user is different from read-write user in Aruba Central?
A: Aruba Central allows administrator to create multiple user of different access levels to help manage the system.  This access levels include:
    read only
    read/write
    guest operator
NOTE: These access levels can be imposed on a specific "ap group" or a set of "ap groups" or all of them.
Therefore looking at the roles, many of the aruba central customers, had a question of how a administrator user is different from read-write user.
Administrator is the only user who can move access points between groups. Read/Write user Do Not Have Permission to execute this action.

    Hi,
I've managed to get what I needed by using a shift register + event structure as suggested by Adnan. However, I face another problem after implementing SR+event. I've attached two files, first the original program and second the updated program using SR + event. (it's only the jpg file as I've forgotten to save the labview program, will upload the program by tomorrow.
In the original program, I have an elapsed time that is able to run continuously when I run the program. In the updated program, my elapsed time don't seem to run continuously when I run the program (as shown by elapsed time indicator). I need the elapsed time to run continuously as a input to calculate my motor profile.
I suppose this is caused by the introduction of the event structure, will adding a case structure to wrap the event structure solve the problem or is there another way to get pass this. Appreciate if someone could drop me a pointer or two.
    Thanks

  • Qosmio - Intel(R)Core(TM)2CPU - system showing two different CPU

Hi, please, what do you think about this PRTSC of my Qosmio ? ;)
Intel(R)Core(TM)2CPU system shows two different CPU entries
    Cheers, Hana
    Message was edited by: admin

Mike, acoording properties of my Qosmio G30-126 is written: Intel(R) Centrino (R) duo with processor Core (TM) 2 Duo T7600 but as you can see on the picture Device manager shows two processors T7400 @ 2,16GHz and T7600 @ 2,33GHz.
My question is: Is it correct if I somebody have written in an agreement abot his laptop that inside is 2 Duo T7600 and in real can see two different processors? Is it possible to have two different processors at all?
    Cheers, Hana

  • Ultra slow imports?  This just started seemingly out of nowhere.  One day it works perfect and now it is so slow it is not useable. Tried different card reader with sam results.

One day importing works great and now it is not even useable its so slow...what happened?  Any ideas?  I tried a different card reader...same results.  Tried different card...same results

Ouch, tough spot, but offhand I'd say some memory may have gone bad, or maybe just needs re-seating after all this time.
Not much you can do, but try this anyway...

  • Live Migration with Different CPU versions on the hosts, win 2012R2 Datacenter

    Hello
This question have been asked in different forums but when I read the the thread's I feel that I get mixed answers.
And most answers are dating from 2012 (Win 2008R2), I don't know if they are still correct in win 2012R2.
So now I ask the question myself and hope to get at clear answer :)
We are in the process of installing a new Hyper-V cluster using Win srv 2012 R2 Datacenter as OS.
I'm planning to re-use some of the "old" servers from our current Hyper-V 2008 R2 cluster, removing it from the cluster and do a clean installation of 2012R2 Datacenter.
But I will need to buy two new servers to manage this (with a new version of CPU, same brand (AMD))
Old server: AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6172 (12 Cores)
    New server:
    AMD Opteron™ 6344 (12-core)
    Now my question:
Will Live Migration work between these servers in my new cluster without me doing any special settings in hyper-v or in the VM or what do I need to do to get this to work?
    /Anders

    Hi,
It is important that all the hardware supporting Windows Server 2012 Failover Clusters be certified to work with Windows Server 2012.
In a cluster where all the nodes of the cluster are exactly the same, hardware migration is fairly straightforward. There are no concerns about differences in hardware, and
especially no concerns about different capabilities of the CPUs.

  • Same code but different output on different cpu

    Hi to all,
I realized a simple class to receive data from a tcp server.
In the code I allocate a bytebuffer with dimension of x byte. I receive this byte from a server.
the problem is: if I use a x86 processor class run correctly. If I use x86_64 processor a receive from the server a great value and then when the application try tu run ByteBuffer.allocate I receive a memory excedeed error.
Why is there a different running mode if I change cpu?

  • 2 identical machines - different CPU temps

I recently built two XP3200+ identical machines (specs below). All parts were purchased from the same company (NewEgg) and both processors were retail packaged. My concern is the CPU temperature on System 2. Here are the vitals at idle with about 1 hour warmup:
    System 1
    CPU temp: 43 C
CPU Fan Speed: averages 3800 RPM
    System temp: 38 C
    System 2
    CPU temp: 55 C
CPU Fan Speed: averages 4300 RPM
    System temp: 38 C
I know both CPU temps are with allowable limits but why would they be so different?
BTW... I did try removing the heatsink, cleaning it and the CPU, then reapplying Arctic Silver 5 and got no difference in temperature readings. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a problem with this corecenter too. I buy a thermaltake cpu fan and my cpu tem. dropped about  40C . After that i think i updated corecenter. And i didn't looked so much to corecenter. One day i saw that in corecenter my cpu tem is about 50C. And that night i updated corecenter again and my cpu temp. dropped 42C from 52C
Which one i will trust 52C or 42C. I am frightening to hear don't trust both of them

  • Tabbing set in Acrobat 9 different in Reader 8

I'm pretty new to Acrobat but have been doing a lot of them the past few months. Mostly it seems pretty straightforward, but I'm stumped on this one.
I have a simple one page fillable form, that I converted from a word doc. I got the fields just right and set the tab order and everything worked fine for me. I added it to our intranet, but am now getting complaints that the tab order is incorrect. But it works fine for me!!!
    Does anyone have any ideas??
My only one is that there is something different in the versions.  I have Acrobat 9 and Reader 9.  All my users have Reader 8.  I work from home, where I have v9 on all my computers, so can't compare much on my own. Could that be the problem, and how would I fix it ??
    Thank you for any help!

Hallo, few months later I may have a similiar problem. I just upgraded to acrobat 9 and especially at higher zoom levels the crop tool reacts very slowly (if at all), the edge is not visible or unpredictable things like that. I found only this post concerning problems with operating this tool, therefore I ask, did you find any solution?

  • Two exactly equal t410 laptops but very different CPU performance

    Hi all,
Hope anyone in this forum can help me with this. I have never seem something similar before.
I have two T410 laptops with exactly the same configuration:
    - Intel Core i5 M520 2,4Ghz
    - 4GB
    - Same exact bios version and date
    - One of them has a fingerprint reader, the other does not
The problem is that running CPU Passmark on both laptops I get 2755 on one (what is quite similar to the ranks posted in the page) and 965 in the other.
Yep, the second is about 3x slower. And it is not only slower than its brother the t410 but also slower
If I swap their hard disks I get the same results so it is not related to the software they are running.
I have loaded bios defaults several times (F9), but it looks like it does not really change all the values so I checked all them manually and I would say they are equal.
¿Does anybody know what is happening to the slow unit? Thanks in advance!

  • Bought 2 4200's - completly different results - Read on

Purchased initial E-4200 about a week ago for 179.99, IPV6 worked out of the box, speed and range was very good, IP addresses showed when connected.  I could not justify spending 190.00 (179.99 plus tax) and returned the unit. hoping in the future the price would come down.
Best Buy put the E-4200 on sale for 149.99 yesterday. I decided to repurchase (of course I got a different unit) Got it home today set it up and it is completley different then the first one I had! **bleep**. NO IPV6, the range on 5.0 was terrible. I reflashed the unit with the proper 30-30-30 just to see if maybe it was a bad firmware. Set it up again and same thing. Also 2 computers would not show up in the DHCP IP list no matter what I did. I just boxed it up and its going back tomorrow. I am extremely dissappointed and now question the quality of the unit.
    Charlie C

Actually, I have seen exactly this, I just posted some findings on the "e4200 mega thread" today.
Short story short, spent an hour with tech in india (on line chat).  He had me set 2.4ghz manually to chan 9, although I don't think that was it.  He also had me change the ssid on the 5ghz band to a different ssid.  it defaults to the same ssid for both bands.
The result was instant!  the 2 ipods I was using as test devices both connected immediately, and the pc that would not connect previously connected right up.  5 bars everywhere in the house.
I've now got all devices going fine, even my Mits tv, and the speed test with vudu.com is pegged, full 1080p streaming video.
so, before you take it back you may want to try that.
