Different layouts with single master page

hi all,
I have a created an adobe form which has 2 different layout.
The First page has some contents which need not be printed on the second page.
the table is printed in between this two static content which does not to be printed on the next page.
can anyone suggest how do i go about in this, Since I am new to adobe forms.
thanks,
Rohit

Hello together,
I solved this by myself:
- All stripes were put in a wrapping subform STRIPECODE on the masterpage-area (outside content area)
- the lines to be switched on/of have their own wrapping subforms each
- the event STRIPECODE: layout:ready was scripted, since we need page-info here
  there are as much instances of STRIPECODE as we will have odd pages, we get the Number of the page one
  instance of STRIPECODE is on via xfa.layout.page(this);  this is the scriptes STRIPECODE-Instance
- the subform-children of STRIPECODE , i.e. STRIPECODE.CODE1 ...STRIPECODE.CODE14 are set to visible/unvisible:
  STRIPECODE.CODE1.presence = "invisible"; NOTE: You cannot set the lines directly, only the wrapping subforms. Thats why we need them
If this is helpfull for anyone, please try to answer my 2 outstanding questions
Regards C

  • Copy single master page from one document to another?

    The answer to a previously posted question seems to involve creating a document differently (than I had). A lot of work went into the creation of the master pages in the original document which I will now need to recreate in the new document. Is there a way I can copy one master page from one document to another?
    Many thanks,
    Theresa

    There are a number of ways to do this.
    Create a copy of the document you want to copy the Master page from. Delete all pages except for the one you want (but you have to leave Right and Left alone as FM must always have these two pages available).
    Open the new document and the one that you want to import the master pages from.
    In the new document:
    Import from Document: (select the document with the Master Page that you want)
    then
    File > Import > Formats
    and select Page Layouts only.
    Note that Right/Left always come along for the ride.
    Alternative and probably best way to get a single Master Page:
    In new document, add a new Master Page and select "Empty".
    In the old document, on the desired Master Page, Select All on page (ctrl+A) and then copy (ctrl+v).
    In the new document on the new master page, paste (ctrl+v) to add the layout. Note: you may need to rotate the page first  if it isn't in the same orientation as in the old document.

  • Rearrange pages when printing adobe form with multiple master pages

    Hello!
    Good day to you all.
    I have an issue in regards with printing my adobe form with multiple Master pages. I have 4 master pages:
    1st master page: a
    2nd master page: b
    3rd master page: c
    4th master page: d
    all with different headers and footers all having the same contents (items). I don't have issue with one page content (it just prints 4 pages with different headers and footers). The issue comes out once the items exceed 1 page.
    What happens is that the preview/print shows (example: 3-page item)
    a1-a2-a3-b1-b2-b3-c1-c2-c3-d1-d2-d3.
    What i need is to print these such that all 1st pages of the 4 master page to be printed first, then all the 2nd pages, then all 3rd pages. Please see below:
    a1-b1-c1-d1-a2-b2-c2-d2-a3-b3-c3-d3
    This is because we will be using carbonless copy paper during printing and it's possible that it would be printed on batch jobs. Please suggest ways to do this.
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi,
    Is that requirement of multiple pages as groups only at the time of print or at print preview also...?
    Can you have a Print button on this screen or you should be using the Abobe toolbar's Print button..?
    Well if this on a click of a button in the form and the requirement is only at the time of print and not on print prieview I can have a JS script which does this...
    Let me know if this suffice, I can try with a local file and send you the script.
    @ Chris: I didn't understand what do you mean by reported, I was eager to hear and learn a solution from you may be a new approach which I am not aware of ...?
    Cheers,
    Sai.

  • Multi-page document with multi Master-pages

    Using InDesign CS6 (Mac):
    I'm to start a 50-page document that's single-pages (not spreads) for 3-hole-punch book. I'm using 2 Master pages, which are alternating between the front and back of each sheet. So page 1 is master A, page 2 is B, 3-A, 4-B, etc.
    So that I don't have to manually add alternate pages to the Pages window — is there an elegant way I could tell InDesign at the "New Document" level to create those 50 alternating pages?
    Thanks!

    Thanks, Jdanek, but after posting my question here I realized a better place to post it is in the InDesign forum, and I already got the answer there, which is to create a facing-page document with one master page, that has a larger margin at the binding side. The pages will be read as spreads, even if this a 3-hole-punch book. I then will save it as a single-page PDF for production.
    You can see the thread at Re: Create multi-page document with multi Master-pages

  • CS4 InDesign Facing Master to only right Single Master Page

    I have a catalog set up as facing pages. I set up the Master Pages as 2 page Spreads.
    Now, the client wants to make an e-catalog (or pdf) out of it. They want all the pages to have the RIGHT hand master page layout.
    When I change the document set up to non-facing pages, I get only the LEFT master on each page.
    The right Master page is still there, but when I change the master options to one page, I get only LEFT page again.
    The only way around I can see, is to copy the right hand master, delete it, and paste it into a single master page.
    Is there an easier way? Do most people use the left hand page for times like this instead?
    I have several of these to do, so the less time it will take the better.
    Thanks!

  • How to remove all pages from layout? (except Master Page)

    Geetings Experts:
    I'm implementing additional security measures into my 'initialze' event, where I'll check some global variables and render the file unreadable if needed.
    Which object and properties do I access to remove all my pages from the form?
    I would like to createa a function that removes all the sub pages, leavning only the Matster Page, enable a label in the MasterPage and save itself.
    I searched for xfa.layout and Page[n].remove() methods but cannot find any reference to these.
    .presence = "hidden", fulfills my purpose but the pages remian visible and I need for a clean solution no pages are visible.
    I'm advanced in C# but a novice in LC JavaScript, so any comment, reference or code snipet will be greatly appreciated

    Hi Ivan,
    The particular syntax of Javascript in LC Designer is different from that used in Acrobat and different (as I understand it) from core javascript and other applications. There are several free guides on the Adobe web site which cover Acrobat and LC:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_scriptingBasics
    http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_scriptingReference
    http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_formCalc
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/articles/Adobe_XML_Form_Object_Model_Refer ence.pdf
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/lc_migrating_acrobat_xmlform.pdf
    And a very handy resource (it goes back to version 6, but is still applicable):http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/tips/CalcScripts.pdf
    JP Terry's book on LC Forms is very good and we use www.pdfscripting (which is a subscription service). If you are going to be doing a lot of LC Designer work, these may be of help.
    I am not a coder, so I going to try and work through your script. Bear with me if you already have this sorted...
    The script looks ok and you are using the resolveNode method correctly. Seeing topmostSubform in the resolveNode indicates that you imported an existing document into LC. This is fine, but sometimes it restricts some of the functionality.
    For starters I think that mPg is returning null. You can use the following in your script to see what is happening (debugging) and then comment it out:
    console.println("mpg: " + mPg);
    Then when previewing hit control+J to bring up the javascript console, then will show the value of mPg when that script executes.
    Try deleting the SOM up to #pageSet:
    var mPg = xfa.resolveNode("#pageSet.MasterPage1");
    The javascript console will show you when the script is working.
    In relation to the loop, I would advise a few changes:
    for (var i=1; i <= xfa.layout.pageCount(); i++)
         var vPage = ("xfa.form.topmostSubform.Page" + i).toString();
         //console.println("vPage: " + vPage);
         var curPage = xfa.resolveNode(vPage);
         curPage.presence = "hidden";
    }//next page
    There are a few things here:
    I would declare i as a variable, not an integer (not sure if it makes a difference);
    I would use pageCount rather than numPages and then <=;
    There was an extra ; at the end of the loop declaration;
    I would break the script into steps and get the full SOM of the page as a variable first and then resolveNode that variable;
    You don't need to go to the current page;
    I tend to name master pages with a capital "P" and pages with a small "p". Personal preference, but it can make tracking script easier.
    Have a crack off that and hopefully you can get it to work,
    Niall
    ps another tip, if you want to reference an object in script. First click on the object you want to script for and then scroll (or click on the master page) for the object you want to reference. Click inside the script editor and then when you move the mouse back into the form, press and hold Control, this will turn the mouse into a "V". When you click on the object you want to reference it will insert the SOM into the script. If it needs the resolveNode it will automatically put that in for you. Holding Shift and Control will insert a fully resolved node.

  • Import multiple Word docs to multiple pages with same master page?

    Hi, I should start by saying I have no scripting experience.  However, I am wondering if there is a simple script available for the following issue:
    I have set up a master page with three linked text boxes. Right now, I use Cmd+D to select a word file, and then Shift+click in the first box to place the text on the page. But I have 125 pages that are exactly the same layout, just different Word files to be imported. I could repeat this process 125 times, but I am wondering if there is a way to tell InDesign to create 125 pages using Master Page X and import one file for each?
    I am using InDesign CS5 v 7.0.4 on Mac OSX Snow Leopard v 10.6.7
    Thank in advance for any help you can offer,
    NW

    I was able to import the word documents as long as there was only one text frame on the master page. However, when I created multiple text frames (the text in the word document needs to flow from frame 1 to frame 2), it always imported into frame 2 and skipped frame 1. In case it is helpful to understand what I mean, I attach two screenshots. The first (sans text) is the master page, and the second is Page 1 after running the script. I added the labels Frame 1 and Frame 2 to Page 1, not the Master, because otherwise the text gets imported into the frame with the words "Frame 2". I suspect I have to label the frames in InDesign and then add something to the script that says insert into the Frame 1, but I'm not sure how to do that.
    It wasn't clear from your narrative in June that the text frames were linked, and that the text needed to flow between frames.
    The script, as implemented, only overrides one text frame, (textFrames[0],  which is the top-most text frame in the stacking order), and then places the text in it. Clearly that's not correct for your scenario.
    You mention 3 frames but only mention flowing between 2 frames.
    Anyhow, it sounds like you want the script to override all 3 text frames, and then to place in the first textframe.
    The first is easy, the question is really what should happen when there are more than 3 text frames -- should it override all text frames, or only some. You could specify which ones with a Script Label, or you could do something more clever. For the moment, let's just override all text frames.
    Then you have to specify which one to place into. You could just select the frame you want and Arrange > Bring To Front. Or we could specify frames[2], which should be the 3rd-from-the-top (after frames[0] and frames[1]). I'll do the latter, but feel free to keep the script the same and do the former:
    var
        d=app.activeDocument,
        p=d.pages,
        i, frames;
    for (i=0; i<p.length; i++) {
        frames = p[i].appliedMaster.textFrames.everyItem().override(p[i]);
        frames[2].place(new File("/path/to/page"+p[i].name+".doc"));

  • Is it a best practice to have a template with one master page?

    I am a newbie FM 11 writer and am cleaning up some unorganized books. Should I copy one set of Master Pages to all files in the book. Currently my TOC and certain other files have unique master pages. I would like to set up our books using best practices and would like input from the community. Thanks.

    There are two schools of thought on this. The specific sub-template approach or the "kitchen sink" approach.
    In the "kitchen sink" (i.e. everything, including the...) approach, the FM template is loaded with everything required for the project in a single file. It's simple to deploy, import it to all files and you're good to go. However, the author may have to deal with all sorts of superfluous tags and page layouts in some specific file types, like the cover pages, TOC, Index and other generated files. The onus is on the author to select the correct items to use from the multitude of choices.
    The sub-template approach is modular approach where one creates the various components in separate template files, e.g. paragraph and character tags, tables, page layouts, etc. and combines to create specific templates for the various book components. These component-combined templates only have the minimum that is required for each type of document component. This is a lego-like approach and it provides more flexibility (IMHO) with modifying, updating and creating new templates. This is easier (perhaps less intimidating would be a better term) for the author to use as their choices are much more limited in any given context. However, they do have to apply the correct templates to the specific book components.
    In all cases, you need to document the usage of all components in the template(s), so authors will know the intent of each and every tag, table, sttyle, page layout, etc.

  • Having issues with custom master pages and device channels

    I'm working in Sharepoint 2013 and am attempting to create a custom master page that is to be used by mobile devices. I have created an html file and a custom css file that includes snippets from the design manager. The file appears to preview fine in a
    browser from Microsoft Web Expression. I have loaded the html file into sharepoint via design manager, so the master file is there as well. The css files are in the style library for the site collection and I have created a device channel including user agent
    strings for iphones going back to the iPhone 4 and operating systems going back to iOS 6. I have obviously assigned my custom "mobile" master for that device channel and I have turned off mobile browsing. However when I open the site on my phone
    it shows the normal full desktop view and not my custom master. I will include my html code, my css and a screenshot of my device channel below. Please help!
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!--SPG:

    Hi,
    The issue is likely not your HTML Master Page but your user agent string. Try a user agent string of just "iphone". To test your master page, you could also set the user agent to "MSIE", which should cause this master page to load for
    any version of IE. This will help you debug the master page as well in your normal browser.

  • Initial view 2-up spreads with single cover page

    I hope I have this wrong and i'm missing something obvious but elusive: It seems like there is no way in the newest version of Acrobat to modify a generated multi-page PDF via preferences>page display so that on initial view it will show as spreads and also have a single cover page. Is that correct? Is this yet another one of those Adobe modifications that makes a graphic designer want to bang his head on the monitor? Or is there a workaround? I would be most grateful for some wisdom as I'm coming up empty with forum searches.

    Hi again ej 5000,
    Your screen shot shows the application preferences, but you should see what you're looking for in the Document Properties dialog box. So, when the file is open, choose File > Properties, and click the Initial View tab. Two-Up (Cover Page) is available in the Page Layout pop-up menu.
    Is that what you need?
    Best,
    Sara

  • Dynamic form with multiple master pages

    I have a 7 pg form that has different data in the footer area. I placed the footer info on it's own separate master page and set the page to the corresponding page numbers. I moved the content area above the footer section so my content can flow to the next page properly. But my problem is since I set the Pagination area to "Place: Top of Page "Page 2" and the rest accordingly, I'm getting an almost blank page with the data from the previous page and the next page pushes to a separate page of its own for every page. Not sure how to make the form flow continuous, this is my first time having to do a form this way. Typically I set the pages when I'm done to "Following Previous" instead of "Top of Next page" in the Pagination Place field for each section and everything works fine then. I've never had to deal with a different master page for each page in the form.
    Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim

    If you have 7 pages with different footers, wouldn't it be easier to have the footer also part of the body page instead of Master page.
    Unless you are adding dynamic content at runtime, you can keep the footer in the body page itself. That way you can avoid multiple master pages.
    If you still have issues, you can share the form, so I can have a look at it.
    Thanks
    Srini

  • Auto-hostep app with custom master page does not allow custom workflows

    This has been troubling us all day. We have a sharepoint 2013 auto-hosted app. We wanted to simply change the site logo of the master page but it was easier said than done. Finally we had to create our own custom master page with our own site logo to overcome
    this issue.
    Now we are trying to add a custom workflow in our app. But the instalment of the app always fail with this message:
    3> CorrelationId: cec727fc-bbf9-4499-ae36-6a7d05f3ae8c
    3> ErrorDetail: There was an error during the operation.
    3> ErrorType: Configuration
    3> ErrorTypeName: Configuration
    3> ExceptionMessage: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
    3> Source: Common
    3> SourceName: Common App Deployment
    After many hours of searching I came across this
    post that sums up the problem to this:
    Do not use the WebTemplate element in the app manifest to designate any of the built-in SharePoint site definition configurations as the app web's site type. We do not support using any of the built-in site definition configurations, other than APP#0, for app webs.
    Thus, if you would like to include your workflow to SharePoint-hosted app, you have to use APP#0 template.
    I am fairly new to the sharepoint 2013 app development and having so many problems just because we wanted to have a different site logo is making us focus out of the important stuff of our app. Isn't there a simple way for us to change the app's site logo
    and add a custom workflow? Has anyone come up with a solution?

    Have you configured SharePoint Workflow Manager in the farm? Not sure if you are familiar with but in SharePoint 2013, there's a new component called Workflow Manager that needs to be configured to use SharePoint 2013 workflow.
    Thanks,
    Sohel Rana

    I am using SharePoint Online. I have enabled the following site feature:
    Workflows can use app permissions
    Allow workflows to read from and to write to all items in this site.
    just in case but it makes no difference. When I stop using my custom masterpage the app can install just fine and the workflow is working. When the custom masterpage is enabled the app won't install with the workflow. I am required to remove the workflow
    to install the app.

  • Search hover panel not showing up in Internet Explorer with custom master page

    The hover panel is not showing up in internet explorer.  I am using a custom master page and it works no problem in the other browsers.  When I fire up the debugger there is an error message when i hover over a search result item:
    I tried debugging the JavaScript but i am not sure what is going on with it.
    Am I missing reference or something done like that?  It has to be something simple because I have been scratching my head for a while on this.
    Any ideas?

    Have you tried rendering the site in IE Compatability Mode?  Compatability Mode solves a lot of problems in this area because older versions of IE had a unique interpretation of HTML code.
    Start here:

    I trust that answers your question...

  • Help - InDesign CS 5.5 can't work with many master pages.

    Hi,
    We are trying InDesign CS 5.5 and there is  big issue for us. If we have many master pages in the document, in this case 13 the program is unusable. It is so slow that it takes ages to select text, open a menu or do anything.
    We have about 250pages in the book. One master page deals with page numbering the other master pages deal with the title of the various smaller stories that comprise the book. There is nothing more than just a few lines of text in each masterpage.
    We tried removing preflight, display options etc. but the problem persists. If we remove the master pages everything is fine. Old documents created and working fine in CS4 have the same problem in CS 5.5??
    We are running Windows 7 64bit on a i7 with RAID scratch etc.., so hardware should not be an issue.
    Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Peter, but as I said already - we tried these methods to no avail. I think I have found the problem after examining more closely my colleagues work. Will post tomorrow if the solution works, but most likely the problem is due to too many master pages that are based on each other.
    Regards,
