Different performance in Adobe Scout CC between FlashBuilder debug swf and release swf

Hi all,
In my project, I want to render bitmapData every frame using Graphics.drawTriangles()

Hi all,
In my project, I want to render BitmapData every frame using Graphics.drawTriangles().
The main work of project is to render a fullscreen image.
I use two ways to run the project.
1. Debug in FlashBuilder;
2. Use the release swf in Web browsers;
But when I check the performance in Scout CC, I found they are different;
1. Debug in FlashBuilder:
     Render the Bitmap each frame
2. Use the release swf in Web browser
  Only Render the Bitmap each of there(more or less) frames
Then, what's the reason that the release swf will render bitmap each of there frame instead of each frame?  Performance optimization in release swf?

  • Why do I have on my computer three different versions of Adobe Photoshop: CC (64 Bit), CC 2014 and CC?

    Hello commnunity,
    I have some questions about the different versions of Adobe CC installed on my computer. Is not only with Photoshop, also with Illustrator and InDesign.
    Which of the three versions of Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator or InDesign is the latest?
    Why do I have on my computer three different versions of Adobe Photoshop: CC (64 Bit), CC 2014 and CC? Every one of them is installed in a different directory of my computer.
    Which one should I have installed on a computer with windows 7 pro 64 bit?
    Can I uninstall the older versions?
    Thank you so much.
    Alfonso

    CC 2014 should be the latest version.  You can uninstall any others if you choose to.

  • Performance Diference between debug mode and release mode

    Hi ,
    I have been running an C++ multithreaded application with below technical specification on Production for more than an year.
    OS - Solaris 10 , Opteron
    Compiler - Sun Studio 11
    Bit Mode - 64
    I wanted to know what is the difference in the debug mode of an C++ application compiled with -g option and a release mode compiled with an optimization apart from the size of the binary and availability of debug information in case of a crash.
    1) Does it degrade the performance of the application? If yes by what extent?
    2) Does it use more memory?
    3) Will switching from Debug to Release mode with some optimization coupled with any kind of risk like byte guard etc which could lead to dumps and all? If yes what could those be?
    4) Which optimization level should be used?
    Regards,
    Ankur Verma

    If you compile without any optimization (with or without -g), you will see a noticeable difference in performance in most programs compared to compiling with a reasonable level of optimization. How much difference depends on the nature of the program, and what percentage of time is spent in code regions that can benefit from the code improvements.
    If you add -g, function inlining is disabled, which can dramatically reduce program performance. You can't debug a function that is generated inline, which is why this option disables inlining. (The +d option also disables inlining.)
    If you use -g0 instead of -g, function inlining is preserved.
    If you use -g0 with optimization, you get the advantages of optimization while still allowing limited debugging. (Local variables are not visible.) Beginning with Sun Studio 12 update 1, the current release, -g with optimization enables function inlining, so the effect of (for example) "-O -g" becomes the same as "-O -g0".
    A few optimizations are disabled with -g or -g0, the exact difference depending on the compiler release and patch level. Most programs won't see a difference in performance.
    Since you are running on Solaris 10, you should upgrade to the current release, Sun Studio 12 update 1. You will get many improvements and some new diagnostic tools. The new release is a drop-in replacement for Studio 11. You don't have to recompile any existing binaries, but you will want to recompile to get improved performance.

  • Whats the difference between a combo update and using software update?

    I keep my Macbook up to date by checking regularly via software update, so far with no mishaps, but I have seen people on these forums mentioning that a it is better to download the combo updates direct from Apples website. Is this true, if so why, and what is the difference? I am thinking of installing Leopard which would then probably need updating to the current version, so what is the correct way of doing this?

    There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
    It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
    So before you do anything else:
    If you can, make a full backup first.
    Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
    Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
    At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
    The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
    And for Intel Macs: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html
    If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
    More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338
    Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
    If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
    N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
    Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
    If you are updating Safari (or just have):
    Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
    So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta. If Safari 3.1.2 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
    Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 3.0.4 (or worse still, version 2) when running 10.4.11 or 10.5 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.1.1 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail and Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, and may entail you having to reinstall an earlier operating system.
    Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them.
    Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
    To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
    Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
    especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

  • Difference between debug and release

    Hallo,
    I'm in trouble with sending CAN-Message to servo-controllers (Lust).  In debug -mode all works fine, but in release it seem's that there some leaks in the message.
    I've already added some delays between send-orders, but it doesn't help.
    the CAN is a USB-adapter from PEAK.
    1. Does CVI make some changes as I include the peak.dll (included in my project) from debug to release?
    2. Is there some alternative of using the Delay-Command in windows?.
    greetings
    F.A.

    Debug mode and Release mode are different configurations for building your .Net
    project. Programmers generally use the Debug mode for debugging step by step
    their .Net project and select the Release mode for the final build of Assembly

  • Distributed File System Replication between servers with different performance

    If Distributed File System Replication is set between servers with different performance. What will happen with the performance of the fastest server? Will the performance decrease to match the performance of the
    slowest server in the chain? I mean, will the source slow down (processor speed) if the recipients can't keep up?

    Hi,
    If you mix different performance server for DFS replication, most of improvements on the fastest server are disabled for backwards compatibility and the performance decrease to match the performance of the slowest server.

  • Vastly different performance of identically configured databases...

    I’m using Oracle Text to retrieve data from a large table (5 million rows or so). The index is created simply:
    CREATE INDEX ALT_DEV_IDX ON devtable(searchfield) INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT;
    …and then I do my best to make sure the thing is loaded into memory and stays there:
    alter table devtable cache;
    alter table devtable storage (buffer_pool keep);
    alter table dr$alt_dev_idx$I storage (buffer_pool keep);
    alter table dr$alt_dev_idx$R storage (buffer_pool keep);
    alter index dr$alt_dev_idx$X storage (buffer_pool keep);
    alter table DR$ALT_dev_IDX$R storage (buffer_pool keep) modify lob (data) (storage (buffer_pool keep));
    SELECT /*+ FULL(ITAB) */ SUM(TOKEN_COUNT), SUM(LENGTH(TOKEN_INFO)) FROM DR$ALT_dev_IDX$I ITAB;
    SELECT /*+ INDEX(ITAB) */ SUM(LENGTH(TOKEN_TEXT)) FROM DR$ALT_dev_IDX$I ITAB;
    SELECT /*+ FULL(BTAB) */ SUM(ROWNUM) FROM devtable WHERE ROWNUM >= 900000;
    No other tables are in use when testing. We have over 90GB of free memory on our servers, so memory is not constrained. However, I/O is not as good as it should be, because I’m limited to just two sets of mirrored paired hard disks.
    On a spare Linux box running 64-bit Centos 5, with much worse I/O configuration (basically, just one mirrored pair), a lot less free RAM and a CPU that’s about three years older (and slower!) than the ones in the production servers, I set the following init.ora parameters (and nothing else):
    *.audit_file_dest='/u01/app/oracle/admin/devdb/adump'
    *.background_dump_dest='/u01/app/oracle/admin/devdb/bdump'
    *.compatible='10.2.0.1.0'
    *.control_files='/data/oradata/devdb/control01.ctl','/data/oradata/devdb/control02.ctl','/data/oradata/devdb/control03.ctl'
    *.core_dump_dest='/u01/app/oracle/admin/devdb/cdump'
    *.db_block_size=16384
    *.db_domain=''
    *.db_file_multiblock_read_count=16
    *.db_name='dbsd'
    *.job_queue_processes=10
    *.open_cursors=300
    *.pga_aggregate_target=2280652800
    *.processes=700
    *.remote_login_passwordfile='EXCLUSIVE'
    *.sessions=775
    *.sga_target=9000M
    *.undo_management='AUTO'
    *.undo_tablespace='UNDOTBS1'
    *.user_dump_dest='/u01/app/oracle/admin/devdb/udump'
    Retrieval of a very common search term (680,000+ hits) takes about 3 seconds and involves a very short, sharp I/O spike –but nothing too much to worry about, I think.
    I set EXACTLY the same parameters on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition box (64-bit) –apart from the obviously path-related ones. The same query runs in over 54 seconds and there is a massive and sustained I/O hit on the datafile drive (as measured by perfmon). In fact, the web front end used to do these searches simply times out and no results are ever actually displayed.
    The Linux box is using just two AMD Opteron single core chips; the Windows box is using two quad-core Intel Core 2 Duos –which run at a higher clock speed than the Opteron, apart from anything else. So the Windows box has (effectively) at least 6 CPUs more than the AMD machines. It also has double the number of hard drives and double the amount of free RAM after the Oracle instance has started.
    And yet with all those advantages, the Windows box runs at least 25 times slower than the Linux box for the same search term, using the same table and index structures.
    What is going on?! Why does the Windows box keep hitting the hard disk (it’s definitely cause and effect: you can watch the Windows perfmon idle, press the Enter key on the search box and see the I/O bar immediately jump and stay there until either the page gives up or the results are returned. The next search term causes another I/O spike. And on and on: nothing ever seems to need only memory access, despite there being stacks of memory in which to cache the objects being accessed in their entirety)?
    I’ve compared execution plans between the two servers, and they are identical in the number and type of steps they take (table access by index rowed domain index, sort order by, view and so on).
    Does anyone know why Windows Oracle Text access should appear to demand physical I/O that refuses to be cached whereas Linux Oracle Text doesn’t?
    Is there some subtlety of Oracle-on-Windows that I’ve missed configuring? Is there some known bug that I’m hitting?
    The software is actually 10.2.0.3 64-bit, but we’re using 10.2.0.1 optimiser compatibility.
    I would be grateful for any pointers since I am at a complete loss to explain the seemingly very different behaviour of Oracle on each platform.
    This isn’t a Linux v. Windows, thing, either –just to head that one off before it happens! We have to run on Windows, so I’m not knocking it, but seeking to get Oracle running on it properly. I would be grateful for any insight you can offer.

    How did you establish that? Did you query v$bh, or is this logical reasoning? (I/O is high, so data is not in cache)
    As I said, I watched the Windows CPU and Disk I/O performance metrics for some time and established they were at a flat line. I typed in a search term and pressed Enter. Immediately, the I/O performance measure soared. Just before the search results were displayed, the I/O metric went back to flatline and stayed there. Do another search, the metric goes up; as soon as the results are displayed, the metric goes back to around about zero. Utterly repeatable. I didn't bother viewing V$BH, because this happens to be the only table (along with its associated indexes) that exist in this database, so there aren't exactly a lot of candidates for buffer cache occupants!
    Windows servers are by default configured with a huge file system cache. This should be turned off.
    Good point, but it is.
    Also the background services should be given priority.
    And, again, they are. I've also done things like switch on large pages so that the SGA is locked in real memory, not pages out to disk. But none of that makes a difference to the observed disk I/O behaviour.
    Apart from that: the architecture is fundamentally different so you really shouldn't compare Windows and Linux.
    As I said originally, I'm not. But I cannot ignore the fact that 3 year-old hardware that happens to be running Linux is out-performing brand new, state-of-the-art servers that are running Windows, especially when the init.ora is identical in each case. I'm not saying one is better than another, just that there's clearly an issue and I would like to know whether it is indeed architectural or whether it's something else (like a Windows-specific bug, for example).
    I respect the findings of all Oracle experts, but this isn't simply a matter of 'Windows is three times slower'. For a start, it's more like 'ten times slower'... and anyway, it's a behaviour difference that is the real problem here: Oracle-on-Linux doesn't do I/O (or, very little, I should say) when a search is performed. Oracle-on-Windows does a massive I/O hit. That's not a performance issue, I would say, but a fundamentally different way of working. Something must be causing it. I would like to know what.
    'Architecture is different' doesn't cut it. Sure, I know that the architectures are profoundly different... but 10 times faster with less than half the CPUs different? And 'I have to do IO when the other guy doesn't' different? I think just saying 'architecture' is a mantra response and doesn't really mean much.
    If it really is true that 'it's just the architecture', then what you're really saying is 'Oracle doesn't work on Windows' -or at least 'Oracle Text doesn't work on Windows'. That's not actually the official line though, is it? If we take the more rational line of assuming that Oracle Text does work on Windows, I'd like to know how I can make it work well on Windows.

  • Different versions of Adobe Creative Suite Compatibility (CS5 and CS5.5)

    Our marketing team has two different versions of Adobe Creative Suite (CS5 and CS5.5).  We can save the CS5.5 down to an IDML document so users with CS5 can open/manipulate the file but it reduces the file size significantly.  What I do not know is if this saving down process reduces the quality of the file??  I am relatively inexperienced with these programs as I am self-taught.  Thanks for your help!

    IDML is good for repairing files.
    But IDML is not good to be used as exchange in a workflow because every export of IDML can change things in an unexpected way. So I would strongly recommend that everyone in the department involved in the workflow uses the very same version, anything else will let you struggle in a later point of time. When I have to exchange files with a client I use always their versions and avoid IDML in exchanging files in any case possible.
    Between CS5.0 and 5.5 are also several changes possible, because some bugs related to the text engine became fixed. E.g. in CS5 if you had an automatic TOC or cross reference in a text frame with 1 or 3 round corners and 3 or 1 normal corners, automatic number got shuffled in that frame, like page 345 became 543. When this was fixed some changes in the text engine have been done.

  • Performance considerations between a cross join and inner join

    Hi there,
    What's the performance difference and impact on running a cross-join based query against an inner join based query?
    Regards and thanks

    Before going to the performance issue - ensure you get the required data and not just some data shown.
    Performance should be checked only between equivalent queries which produce same output but with different processing.
    Are you sure you get same output in cross join as well as inner join?
    If so pass on your different queries and then discuss with one is better.
