Different physical machines want to join a cluster

Dear Expert:
I have two physical machines which is located in different network, which means between them maybe have firewall or switch,
Does Coherence support they join one cluster,If it can,how can I config?
Thanks for your reply!

Hi Ericnie,
Yes it is possible!
It is recommended to use Coherence*Extend though otherwise also possible using unicast/WKA configuration. But remember, if you don't use Coherence*Extend then your link between subnets becomes SPOF and will also limit your cluster scalabilty.

  • JMS on different physical servers

I have about 4 different weblogic instances running same application and running on different physical machines. One server has a topic defined and a deployed messaging bean is to listen to the messages comes to this topic. I have a foreign server and local jndi names defined on each of these servers which point to the server that has Topic defined. Server with topic defined comes up fine and runs just fine. But when I try to bring the other servers up, it fails on MDB deployment complaining no remote server found (connection not found). Basically throws JMSException: connection not found.

Pls post your MDB's DD and relevant part (i.e. JMS and Managed Server details) of your config.xml.
              Cheers!

  • I want to be able to use 2 different scanner machines (A4 and A3). I have installed the 2 drivers. When I switch usb cables to use the other scanner in I get the message saying there is no scanner installed. I can see the 2 machines in the printer list.

I want to be able to use 2 different scanner machines (A4 and A3). I have installed the 2 drivers.
However it seems I can only use only 1 scanner.
Because when I switch usb cables to use the other scanner and try to import in Photoshop ,I get the message saying there is no scanner installed.
I can see the 2 machines in the printer list.

  • Can not get two instances to join same cluster even on same machine

On a RedHat Linux box, I have failed to get two instances of coherence to join the same cluster. I have managed to get the muticast test tool to show that packets are being sent and received. To do this, I had to:
    java -cp bin/tangasol.jar -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true com.tangosol.net.MulticastTest
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:45 WET 2009: Sent packet 1.
Wed Apr 15 21:02:45 WET 2009: Received test packet 1 from self (sent 7ms ago).
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:47 WET 2009: Sent packet 2.
Wed Apr 15 21:02:47 WET 2009: Received test packet 2 from self
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:49 WET 2009: Sent packet 3.
Wed Apr 15 21:02:49 WET 2009: Received test packet 3 from self (sent 1ms ago).
    Wed Apr 15 21:02:51 WET 2009: Sent packet 4.
Wed Apr 15 21:02:51 WET 2009: Received test packet 4 from self
However, I could not get the following to show that two instances are joining the same cluster... When I start to instances, both of them create a new cluster with only one member in each.
    java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar lib/coherence.jar
and obviously, when I try to start two instances of the sample application, I get the same problem.
    java -cp ./lib/coherence.jar:./lib/tangosol.jar:./examples/java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=172.16.27.10 -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=8188 -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=/cache/explore-config.xml com.tangosol.examples.explore.SimpleCacheExplorer

    Thanks for that... I ran:
    jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java -Dtangosol.coherence.log.level=6 -Dtangosol.coherence.log=/my1.log -Dtangosol.ccacheconfig=/cache/explore-config.xml -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar lib/coherence.jar
    and then
    jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java -Dtangosol.coherence.log.level=6 -Dtangosol.coherence.log=/my2.log -Dtangosol.ccacheconfig=/cache/explore-config.xml -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar lib/coherence.jar
from the same machine and get the following from the log file of the second run (my2.log)

  • Managed server not able to join the cluster

    Hi
I have two storage node enabled coherence servers on two different machines. These two are able to form the cluster without any problem. I also have two Managed servers. When I start one, will join the cluster without any issue but when I start the fourth one which does not join the cluster. Only one Managed server joins the cluster. I am getting the following error.

    Hi,
By default Coherence uses a multicast protocol to discover other nodes when forming a cluster. Since you are having difficulties in establishing a cluster via multicast, Can you please perform a multicast test and see if multicast is configured properly.

Hope you are using same configuration files across the cluster members and all members of the cluster must specify the same cluster name in order to be allowed to join the cluster.
    <cluster-name system-property="tangosol.coherence.cluster";>xxx</cluster-name>
I would suggest, try using the unicast-listener with the well-known-addresses instead of muticast-listener.
    http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH32UG/well-known-addresses
Add similar entries like below in your tangosol override xml..
    <well-known-addresses>
    <socket-address id="1">
    <address> 172.23.34.91<;/address>
    <port>8190</port>
    </socket-address>
    <socket-address id="2">
    <address> 172.23.34.74<;/address>
    <port> 8090</port>
    </socket-address>
    </well-known-addresses>
This list is used by all other nodes to find their way into the cluster without the use of multicast, thus at least one well known node must be running for other nodes to be able to join.
    Hope this helps!!
    Thanks,
    Ashok.

  • Securely identifying a remote physical machine

    Hi,
Is there a way of securely identifying a remote physical machine? I don't mean by using a public/private key mechanism, because I want to identify the physical machine, NOT the user, for program piracy issues.
I posted this to the general security forum, but I think I have a better chance using some low-level network mechanism?
    TIA,
    Reggie

I thought commercial programmers always had access to
some unique network machine ID, like the one ActiveX
uses to create a UID to create a unique ID for their
ActiveX control? It's easy to generate a unique ID. But such an ID isn't secure. The user can change it, force it to be regenerated, move it to a different system, or otherwise compromise some aspect of its uniqueness/security.
If you're willing to rely on users not being malicious, there are a lot of ways you can generate unique IDs which would identify the machine in question. If you were to combine the current time, the machine's IP address and some random value, you would have a nearly-guaranteed unique ID, but one that is only sufficient in a friendly environment.
The "standard" UUID generator is based on the current time and the machine's MAC address. Here is some information on it:

  • Run hyper-v on physical machine with server 2012

I currently am running windows 8.1 with several 8.1 hyper-v clients. I am about to have to do a new install of the host os because i am getting a new faster drive. The convenience and speed of backing up and moving hyper-v clients to different systems is
so easy i was hoping i could take advantage of it for the future. i would also like to use some of the functions of windows only available in the server edition of windows. as a dreamspark student you can get a free copy of windows server 2012. I have not
set up a windows server, but i have run a Linux and bsd one. I only have 1 physical machine. Does it make sense at all to install windows server 2012 and then have all of my working systems be hyper-v clients? i play games and have a nice graphics card. the
clients i don't think use them directly, but would use it via the host i think. I also use visual studio for app dev and i beliebe VS installs a Virtual like machine for windows phone. Can i do this? what would it prevent me from doing that i currently
do? is there a better way to go about this? maybe do the reverse and run the server in hyper-v? thanks

Personally I'd say it depends mainly on what you want to do with the desktop side of your machine. You certainly could install Server 2012 onto your desktop, and from reviews I've seen it's far more suited to being used on a desktop setup than previous server
versions. You still have to do some additional work to enable some of the functionality you'd normally have on a desktop, but which would never be found on a server, but it is more plausible now. There's a bit of a discussion here of the possible issues and
    gotchas
http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/7520-windows-r8-windows-2012-server-makes-great-laptop-os.html which cover some of the main things you'd need to do.
If you're just looking to play with Windows Server and the functionality you're looking to use isn't Hyper-V related then I'd probably go with simply making the Windows Server 2012 another instance on your existing setup, eg within Hyper-V on your 8.1 desktop.
There's no real difference between hyper-v on windows 8 and server 2012 so that side of things doesn't make a difference, and windows 8 is quite capable of handling server vm's (I've got 12 VM's running on my windows 8 desktop, and none of them are client
    OS's).
The main thing which would dissuade me from installing Server 2012 on a desktop is support for other desktop applications. If you're planning to continue using the machine as a desktop, and especially if you play games on it, you're bound to hit issues
with compatibility at some point. Not legitimate compatibility, more situations where some apps will try to detect the OS you're running, and either not recognise the server OS and refuse to install, or recognise it and refuse to install as they're only designed
/ licenced to be install on a client OS. Some apps which are free to use on a client installation for instance require a licence for use on a server (since it's assumed to be commercial installation).

  • Node failed to join the cluster because it ould not send and receive failure detection network messages

One of my customers has a Windows Server 2008 R2 cluster for an Exchange 2010 Mailbox Database Availability Group.  Lately, they've been having problems with one of their nodes (the one node that is on a different subnet in a different datacenter) where
their Exchange databases aren't replicating.  While looking into this issue it seems that the problem is the Network Manager isn't started because the cluster service is failing.  Since the issue seems to be with the cluster service, and not Exchange,
    I'm asking here.
When the cluster service starts, it appears to start working, but within a few minutes the following is logged in the system event log.
    FailoverClustering
    1572
    Critical
    Cluster Virtual Adapter
Node 'nodename' failed to join the cluster because it could not send and receive failure detection network messages with other cluster nodes. ...
It seems that the problem is with the 169.254 address on the cluster virtual adapter.  An entry in the cluster.log file says: Aborting connection because NetFT route to node nodename on virtual IP 169.254.1.44:~3343~ has failed to come up.
In my experience, you never have to mess with the cluster virtual adapter.  I'm not sure what happened here, but I doubt it has been modified.  I need the cluster to communicate with its other nodes on our routed 10. network.  I've never experienced
this before and found little in my searches on the subject.  Any idea how I can fix this?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi,
I suspected an issue with communication on UDP port 3343. Please confirm the set rules for port 3343 on all the nodes in firewall and enabled all connections for all the profiles
in firewall on all the nodes are opened, or confirm the connectivity of all the node.
Use ipconfig /flushdns to update all the node DNS register, then confirm the DNS in your DNS server entry is correct.

  • Joining of cluster  and pooled tables ,transparent tables

    Hi,
I wanted to do join between  cluster  ,pooled and transparent tables  but inner join won't allow  to join between  transparent or cluster tables or pooled tables .  The requirements are that join should take place dynamically  between transparent ,cluster ,pooled tables .I have written the Function module for joining multiple tables for transparent tables but unable to implement same for the transparent and cluster or pooled tables. How to handle the joining of tables between pooled or cluster  and transparent tables kindly provide me the answer .
    Thanks,
    jahnavi.

    Hi Jahnavi,
My suggestion would be... if you want to retrieve the data between cluster tables and transparent tables.. its better to go for views instead of cluster tables then that would be easier for you to retrieve the data
let us take one example BSEG its a cluster table where as there is one view VBSEGK it contains almost all the important fields needed so that u can make use of those or you can look into BSIK and BSAK tables so it better to avoid the cluster tables while retriving the data from the performance point of view

  • Need share folder for more presentation service on one physical machine?

    Dear gurus,
If I want to scale more presentation service instances on one physical machine, do I still need set the network share folder for the catalogs? Can I just specify a local disk folder for them ?
    thanks!
    michael

    thanks, that really helps!
A further question is do you have best practice recommendations about the ratio between presentation service instances number with the java host instance number ? For e.g, 1:1?
I'm trying to set more instances of bi server/presentation services/java host to get better scale performance, while i can't determine the right ratio of them. One idea I can think out is watching the processes' resource costing, is that the only way? Have some experiences values? thanks!

  • Move Lync from a VM to a Physical Machine

Currently we have Lync 2013 set up on a VM on a ESXi server, and I was wondering what would be the most efficient way to move it onto a physical machine? The way i see it there's 2 options:
    1. Install Lync 2013 from scratch on the new physical machine, and delete the VM.
    2. Grab the vmdk file and use vmplayer or some-other vitalization programme to create a Lync box, this way i dont lose the settings.
Before you ask "why would you want to move the VM from one machine to another, it's because we want to free up resources on the ESXi server and want to use our spare physical machine to its full extent. It wont only have Lync 2013 on it, it will have
    vCenter, Veeam, and Windows 2012.
    Thanks in advance!

Out of interest, Is it not possible to visualize your physical box as well, you could then Copy the VMDK to the second box and turn it on.
No need to setup a new lync server and migrate users.
If the physical box has Veeam, Cventer and Windows 2012 , why not do a  P2V ( physical to Virtual ) conversion. That way you would maximise the use of the physical box and improve/reduce server sprawl.
Not sure if there is a SAN involved here else you could also setup HA , depending on VMware/Hyper-V licensing.
You might be able to over commit the Host for a few hours depending on how much resources are available.
but that is a risk you take, in my experience this would be far easier, and worth buying a few extra RAM chips for the sake of not having to re-configure lync.

  • About 2 clusters installed on 2 physical machines with BPEL v10.1.3.3

    Hi, guys,
I have a customer which wants to install 2 separated active-active clusters into 2 physical machines with BPEL v10.1.3.3. The topology is listed below:
    Cluster1:
    OS User: oraadmin
    Instances:
    Instance1 (node1): Physical Machine1 (admin port:7777)
    Instance2 (node2): Physical Machine2
    Multicast: 236.2.2.2:5678
    Cluster2:
    OS User: oraadmin
    Instances:
    Instance1 (node3): Physical Machine1
    Instance2 (node4): Physical Machine2 (admin port:7777)
    Multicast: 235.1.1.5 5555
Cluster1 and Cluster2 are shared with same database: DB_BPEL.
When I try to deploy applications into the two clusters, I got an issue on Cluster2. There is no problem in Cluster1. But for Cluster2, I cannot find orabpel in the Parent Application list. Actually I have tried re-install many times, but it still cannot work.
So my question is that is this topology feasible? I am not sure whether BPEL supports this topology. As I know WebLogic server supports this topology. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Could you confirm if you have completed 1.6 steps successfully?
Is the process deploying fine and able to see the instance created on console ? Able to see the tasks created for the user on worklist app console ? 10.1.3.4 + any MLR ?

  • HT1175 Time Machine wants to start with a new, full backup instead of using the existing one

Hi, my Time Machine wants to start a new, full backup, instead of continuing with the existing one on the time Capsule.
Looking a the Troubleshooting guide, I've found the following piece of info, which is, as 99% of the times with the troubleshooting guides, totally useless to resolve my problem...
Message: Time Machine starts a new, full backup instead of a smaller incremental backup
There are three reasons why this may occur:
    You performed a full restore.
Your Computer Name (in Sharing preferences) was changed--when this happens, Time Machine will perform a full backup on its next scheduled backup time.
If you have had a hardware repair recently, contact the Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store that performed your repair. In the meantime, you can still browse and recover previous backups by right-clicking or Control-clicking the Time Machine Dock icon, and choosing "Browse Other Time Machine disks" from the contextual menu.
It should be noted (hence the uselessness of the guide) that:
-I haven't performed ANY full restore
    - I havent changed my computer name
    - My computer has not had ANY repair, much less a hardware repair. Neither recently, nor in the 9 months I've owned it.
Which puts me back to square one, with the marginal improvement that now I have a way of browsing my old backups.
In the event I decide to start all over again, will there be a way for me to "sew" the two backup files?
Or will I always have to go the silly way around?
    Anybody has any idea?
Thank you for your time (machine/capsule, your choice;-)

    Hi John,
no, that doesn't have anything to do with my problem.
Just look at the image below.
Time Machine thinks that the disk I've always used to do my backups has none of them.
If I open the disk with Finder, obviously they are where they should be.
It is even possible to navigate them as per the instruction reported above, but even following Pondini's advice #s B5 and B6 (which are more applicable to my problem) didn't solve the problem.
Actually, not being a coder, I'm always scared of doing more damage than good when I have a Terminal window open.
My question is: how is it possible that Apple hasn't thought of some kind of user command to tell the idiotic Time Machine software that a hard disk backup is a hard disk backup, no matter what?
Estremely frustrating and annoying: I'm wasting HOURS in trying to find a solution to a problem that should not have arisen in the first place...
    Have a nice weekend
    Antonio
