  • How to connect to an Oracle database on one machine from another client machine?

I installed oracle database 11g (server and client) on one machine. It works perfectly. Then I installed oracle client (ODTwithODAC1120320) in another machine. Now I want to connect to the database of the previous machine. I tried to connect but It failed. I think .ORA files should be configured. What should I do to fulfill this.
    thanks...

thank you for the quick response..
this link Installing Oracle Database Client for oracle client installation. But the content refers all oracle database installation. could you please get know me that oracle client means only the OdtWithODAC or some thing else? This link Installing Oracle Database Client explain but not the OdtWithODAC. Please let me know clearly.
Please let me know the exact name of the software that I should download from the oracle website that refers the oracle database client.

  • Mac & Windows (BootCamp) Activations on Same Physical Machine

    To Adobe:
Please would it be possible to free-up the CS6-Cloud licensing to allow simultaneous activation on both OSX and BootCamp-Windows sides of the same physical Mac machine to count as only one (of the two allowed) activations?  The logic is that it is only one physical machine.  No sales would be lost and it would remove an inconvenience, making CS6 more flexible.
Like most people, my second activation is normally bound to my workhorse-desktop.  The laptop is what gets used to show stuff (like CS6) to other people at other locations.  Sadly unable to give spontaneous (unplanned) demonstration of CS6 on Mac to someone recently at separate work location with no internet connection available (hence unable to do the "boot windows, deactivate, reboot mac, activate" sequence, during which they might have got bored and gone away in any case...).

David, after spending hours....and I man hours.... the best answer I get from Adobe is that I can't even have Bootcamp installed! Something about the MAC ID for the computer. What's happening for me is that I can't even deactivate in Windows and the reboot into OSX and activate. I get nothing but errors telling me it's already in use on another computer (meaning Windows). Deactivation means nothing apparently since it's the same physical hardware. Adobe needs to fix this! I'm one person on one machine. I cant be in Windows and OSX at the same time through BootCamp. And even if I was uing Parrallels or somthing lke that, I'm still one guy at one computer.... Adobe are you listening!? FIX THIS!!!!!

  • Do i need another Virtual machine rather than sharepoint server to install workflow manager ?

    Hi ,
I have installed sharepoint 2013 on a single server with a built-in-database. And i have installed OWA in another virtual machine. Now i am trying to create a workflow. I have downloaded and installed sharepoint designer and workflow
manager in the sharepoint 2013 itself. Do i need to install workflow manager in another server and make it to communicate with sharepoint server ? And how to email-id in workflow when i tried in sharepoint designer we have select the user. How to allocate
    e-mail id for users ?

Creating new VM is choice of your architecture. Workflow Manager only requires below.
Workflow Manager 1.0. Email ID will be automatically picked from the participants from AD.
.NET Framework 4 Platform Update 3 or .NET Framework 4.5
    Service Bus 1.0
    Workflow Client 1.0
    PowerShell 3.0
The following additional requirements must be met before you can run Configuration Wizard to configure Workflow:
    Instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, SQL Server Express 2008 R2 SP1, or SQL Server 2012.
TCP/IP connections or named pipes must be configured in SQL Server.
    Windows Firewall must be enabled.
Ports 12290 and 12291 must be available.

  • Multiple connection pools in the same DB physical source

Hi, I have this situation in BI Admin:
A single DB with 2 physical schema and 2 Connection Pools with OCI 10/11g.
Clicking on any table I can see the data after selecting the right connection pool for that table.
I created a Business Model based upon tables from one of the 2 physical schemas and a corresponding presentation layer. It is consistent and I can view the related subject area in Answers, but when I select a Dimension column (CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO) and the fact measure ( Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO ) in viewing results I get this error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 942, message: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist at OCI call OCIStmtExecute. [nQSError: 17010] SQL statement preparation failed. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO saw_0, Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO saw_1 FROM Convergenza ORDER BY saw_0
Is it caused by the multiple connection pools under the same DB?

Yes I think that's correct, but only if you're going to use the same user to connect to them.
If you have a single user you're using to connect to a database to read data which happens to be over more than one schema, you'd use one connection pool.
However if you have entirely separate schemas (eg. different applications) and need to use a different user for each then you would use one connection pool per schema. Also if you thought you might move one of the schemas to another physical database at some point in the future it might be prudent to use a separate connection pool from the outset.
If you're still getting the error that the table cannot be found and your users have full permissions then logically the table that's being looked for does not exist, or you have not qualified it. What I mean by that is if you are connecting as USER2 and SELECT * FROM TABLE_A then the database will assume that you mean USER2.TABLE_A. If you mean USER1.TABLE_A then you need to make sure the qualification is in there.
In the admin tool check your Physical layer is set up correctly with your Physical Tables residing in the correct Physical Schemas.

  • Another Time Machine problem after 10.5.3 update

OK, I have another problem, that I haven't seen listed here. Time Machine will no longer back up my MacBook Pro after the 10.5.3 update. The error message I get in the Console log is:
6/1/08 3:44:42 PM /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[1395] Volume at path /Volumes/Dave's backup does not appear to be the correct backup volume for this computer. (Cookies do not match)
How do I change the cookies for my backup disk?
    Thanks in advance.

I believe I have isolated the problem as a permissions issue which I have logged as bug 5990628:
    Summary:
Unable to backup over network after upgrading to 10.5.3.
    Steps to Reproduce:
Configure Time Machine to back up Leopard machine over AirPort to another Leopard machine (with external drive and .Mac account configured in this case)
    Expected Results:
    Backups complete as usual.
    Actual Results:
Backups are 'Delayed' with errors like this in the console:
6/6/08 4:25:57 AM /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[2334] Volume at path /Volumes/Time Machine-1 does not appear to be the correct backup volume for this computer. (Cookies do not match)
    Regression:
    Yes
    Notes:
There are many threads on the subject:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1538633
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1543033
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1547134
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1546079
The problem appears to relate to being unable to read the cookie:
6/6/08 4:20:23 AM System Preferences[2315] Failed to create remote cookie file at path: /Volumes/Time Machine/.001b63abcdef
And this appears to be because the cookie was owned by a different user (likely due to it wanting to connect using a .Mac username instead of a local one), per my explanation below:
I only ever used Time Machine after upgrading to 10.5.3 so my first experience with it has been fairly ordinary, as the backups were constantly being 'Delayed' with this error in the Console:
6/6/08 4:25:57 AM /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[2334] Volume at path /Volumes/Time Machine-1 does not appear to be the correct backup volume for this computer. (Cookies do not match)
The first thing I discovered from a blog post was that my .Mac 60 day trial was causing it to connect using my .mac username (which appeared in the username field in the UI as a string of hex characters); disconnecting and reconnecting using a local user seemed to work but the issue remained.
I then spotted this in the console:
6/6/08 4:20:23 AM System Preferences[2315] Failed to create remote cookie file at path: /Volumes/Time Machine/.001b63abcdef
The 'random' characters are your MAC address and the binary inside is likely this 'cookie' - a random value used to transparently and reliably link backups to machines. Curiously I couldn't modify this file over the network despite apparently owning it (in Terminal):
    $ cd /Volumes/Time\ Machine
    $ ls -la .00*
    -r-------- 1 samj staff 16 Jun 6 04:33 .001b63abcdef
But when looking at it on the Mac Mini 'server' I saw that the owner was in fact another user:
    -r-------- 1 otheruser staff 16 Jun 6 04:33 .001b63abcdef
    So I ran these commands:
    sudo chown samj .001b63abcdef
    sudo chgrp staff .001b63abcdef
And sure enough I was able to configure Time Machine as expected and it is as we speak backing up my MacBook over Airport to a USB drive attached to my Mac Mini.
    Cheers,

  • Can external drive connected to TC be used for Time Machine?

My 1 TB TC is running out of space and I can't afford the 2TB version. It's much cheaper to buy a 2 TB drive and plug it into the USB port on the TC, but before I do so, can someone savvy tell me if I will be able to select the drive connected to the TC as a Time Machine backup drive?

    disconnekt wrote:
Thank you for this answer, and for that very helpful link. I can see that the Archive feature will not be practical for everyday backups,
    Right.
so I'll have to find another solution...
See Kappy's post on Basic Backup, complete with links to the web sites of each product. You might also want to investigate Chrnosync: I've seen some posts that it can back up a network drive, but don't know if that's true.
Basically, if you run out of space on the TC's internal drive and decide to repurpose it for storing data, you have to be OK with not having that data backed up. I don't get this decision on the part of Apple—maybe they want me to shell out $400+ for a new 2TB TC?
Doubtful. Backing-up network drives, especially to another network drive, would be even slower and less reliable, and not something most Mac users would want to do. And even if you got a 2 TB, Time Machine still couldn't back up a network drive.
And they won't let you use a hard drive connected to Airport Extreme for TM backups either, which I'm guessing is another ploy to pry more dollars from our hands.
Now, don't be paranoid! They don't prevent it, but they don't support it, either. Some of us do it anyway, but it's generally not especially reliable, so we make sure to always have secondary backups. Nobody here can say why they don't support it, but unreliability sounds like a pretty good reason.

  • Migrate ALUI portal from physical machine to virtual machine

Currently the application is on physical machine. We are planning to migrate it to virtual machine.
Is there any risk factor to migrate the application?
Do we need to take any precautions while or before doing migration of the data?
    Thanks

    Hi,
We've never had problems with multi-server VMWare deployments but just recently hit problems running WCI 10.3.0.1 onto Virtual Server 2005 in 2-virtual-server deployment.
Whenever we started the Analytics, Collab and Notification services, all connectivity (inc ping) between the virtual servers dropped out after a few mins. Connectivity to the external network was maintained and the virtual network was fine without the portal services running. CPU and memory usage was ok on both servers. Stopping these services re-established connectivity.
We've raised a support issue with Oracle who told us that 10.3.0.1 was not proven to work on Virtual Server 2005. Unfortunately we could not pin down the cause and as it was only for Dev we're running all portal services on a single Virtual Server as a workaround.
Jonathan - what portal version are you running on Virtual Server please?
    Cheers,
    Adam

  • Run hyper-v on physical machine with server 2012

I currently am running windows 8.1 with several 8.1 hyper-v clients. I am about to have to do a new install of the host os because i am getting a new faster drive. The convenience and speed of backing up and moving hyper-v clients to different systems is
so easy i was hoping i could take advantage of it for the future. i would also like to use some of the functions of windows only available in the server edition of windows. as a dreamspark student you can get a free copy of windows server 2012. I have not
set up a windows server, but i have run a Linux and bsd one. I only have 1 physical machine. Does it make sense at all to install windows server 2012 and then have all of my working systems be hyper-v clients? i play games and have a nice graphics card. the
clients i don't think use them directly, but would use it via the host i think. I also use visual studio for app dev and i beliebe VS installs a Virtual like machine for windows phone. Can i do this? what would it prevent me from doing that i currently
do? is there a better way to go about this? maybe do the reverse and run the server in hyper-v? thanks

Personally I'd say it depends mainly on what you want to do with the desktop side of your machine. You certainly could install Server 2012 onto your desktop, and from reviews I've seen it's far more suited to being used on a desktop setup than previous server
versions. You still have to do some additional work to enable some of the functionality you'd normally have on a desktop, but which would never be found on a server, but it is more plausible now. There's a bit of a discussion here of the possible issues and
    gotchas
http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/7520-windows-r8-windows-2012-server-makes-great-laptop-os.html which cover some of the main things you'd need to do.
If you're just looking to play with Windows Server and the functionality you're looking to use isn't Hyper-V related then I'd probably go with simply making the Windows Server 2012 another instance on your existing setup, eg within Hyper-V on your 8.1 desktop.
There's no real difference between hyper-v on windows 8 and server 2012 so that side of things doesn't make a difference, and windows 8 is quite capable of handling server vm's (I've got 12 VM's running on my windows 8 desktop, and none of them are client
    OS's).
The main thing which would dissuade me from installing Server 2012 on a desktop is support for other desktop applications. If you're planning to continue using the machine as a desktop, and especially if you play games on it, you're bound to hit issues
with compatibility at some point. Not legitimate compatibility, more situations where some apps will try to detect the OS you're running, and either not recognise the server OS and refuse to install, or recognise it and refuse to install as they're only designed
/ licenced to be install on a client OS. Some apps which are free to use on a client installation for instance require a licence for use on a server (since it's assumed to be commercial installation).

  • Move Lync from a VM to a Physical Machine

Currently we have Lync 2013 set up on a VM on a ESXi server, and I was wondering what would be the most efficient way to move it onto a physical machine? The way i see it there's 2 options:
    1. Install Lync 2013 from scratch on the new physical machine, and delete the VM.
    2. Grab the vmdk file and use vmplayer or some-other vitalization programme to create a Lync box, this way i dont lose the settings.
Before you ask "why would you want to move the VM from one machine to another, it's because we want to free up resources on the ESXi server and want to use our spare physical machine to its full extent. It wont only have Lync 2013 on it, it will have
    vCenter, Veeam, and Windows 2012.
    Thanks in advance!

Out of interest, Is it not possible to visualize your physical box as well, you could then Copy the VMDK to the second box and turn it on.
No need to setup a new lync server and migrate users.
If the physical box has Veeam, Cventer and Windows 2012 , why not do a  P2V ( physical to Virtual ) conversion. That way you would maximise the use of the physical box and improve/reduce server sprawl.
Not sure if there is a SAN involved here else you could also setup HA , depending on VMware/Hyper-V licensing.
You might be able to over commit the Host for a few hours depending on how much resources are available.
but that is a risk you take, in my experience this would be far easier, and worth buying a few extra RAM chips for the sake of not having to re-configure lync.

  • How to connect a E1200 wireless router to a machine tool network for wireless communications

Hello all, I am new to the forum, hope someone can help me out. I am wanting to connect my E1200 wireless router to a machine tool in our factory that has programmable controllers and is connected to the machine components via ethernet connections. This is so we can troubleshoot the machine without having a wired laptop. We have several ethernet switches on the machine and a range of IP addresses say from 192.16.1.1 through 192.16.1.150, and 192.16.17.1 through 192.16.17.150, all of the addresses are not used but random addresses in the range. I would like to be able to connect my E1200 to either one of the networks without having to make a change in the router setup. I can make it work on either network but when I switch my cable to the other network it has to be reconfigured. I am currently connecting my data cable to a ethernet port on the router and changing my router address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.16.1.1 and selecting a range of 150 so it will assign numbers as needed. This works great until I change to the other network and I have to change my router address to 192.16.17.1, I know this can be done on some routers because the technicians from the machine builder use them when working on the machines. thanks

On the basic setup tab make the changes shown below:
This basically make the router disappear off the existing networks and turns it into a wireless AP.
Then when you set your laptop's wireless adapter to whatever IP network you want to connect to.
If you need to connect to your router again change the laptop's adapter IP to something like 192.168.200.2
Keep in mind nothing ever gets plugged into the Internet Port on the router.
What I do with these manufacturing machine's is put them on the company network with static IP's. Then so operators can transfer programs and view drawings I place ELO touchscreens at each location. For the Laser cutter operators that do nesting they have a desktop workstation for the CAD software and put the nests on a network share or direct to the laser cutters.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Need guidance in cloning my newly installed EBS 12.1.3 to a physical machine

    Hello Guys,
We have just migrated EBS 11i to 12.1.3 with rdbms 11.2.3 on the same server. Our Test instance is on a physical machine and DEV is on a Virtual Machine. We need to refresh or Clone the Test and Dev systems with or from Prod. Which is the best approach for me to follow in cloning Prod? I am looking at Doc ID 406982.1 but it's not very clear to me. Has someone get a step by step documentation for such cloning?
    Thanks
    Mathias

    Mathias,
The document you have is all what you need.
You may also refer to (Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 (Doc ID 603104.1)).
And, if you Google "Rapid Clone" R12 you will find many hits.

Is the Windows firewall active? Have you enabled the port on the firewall, if it is?

  • Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port

Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port  & still hear sound through the internal speakers?  System Preferences/Sound/Output or Sound Effects allows you to use one or the other  --  headphones or internal speakers.  I would like to have the option of hearing music through the internal speakers in one room, & through an external speaker in another room at the same time.  I also do not want to frequently disconnect/reconnect the external speaker from/to the headphone port as I know over time the connection could become loose.  (10.7.4  Lion)

dont think so but I could be wrong
as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers  but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine
