192.168.1.11 is the address I expected. It is the address reported by Network Manager "Connection Information"
118.98.96.151 is some address belonging to my ISP, but neither Default Gateway: 180.251.160.1 nor Primary DNS Server: 202.134.1.10 nor Secondary DNS Server: 203.130.193.74
According to http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report … .98.96.151 it is an nginx webserver owned by the ISP.
Different ip addresses reported by hostname -i????
The only interface is ethernet.
On a notebook running Live Manjaro, the above test reports 127.0.0.1, 10 times, but Network Manager reports 192.168.1.12.
Obviously I am missing an understanding of how hostname gets its IP.
Why the ISP server IP appeared is mind boggling to me.

I'm not super knowledgable on networking but I would think you do not have your host file setup and so you are asking your ISP for it IP address which it is not answering correctly for.
I'm not sure, but my understanding is that hostname binary calls the system gethostname function.
It will resolve its information by order dictated by /etc/nsswitch.conf
usually the hosts section is something similar to:
hosts: files dns ...etc
So first it should go to /etc/hosts
192.168.1.11 myhostname.localdomain myhostname
If it is not resolved there it will send a dns request to the dns server.
Your ISP's dns server most likely does not know how to answer for your local machine and for some reason returning that IP address.

Query returning inconsistent result at each execution
Hi All,
Does any 1 have an idea?.I have 2 tables with more than 60 lac records.In a query i have to inner join the 2 tables and there is a where clause.
select dsp.col2, s.col3
from table1 dsp inner join table2 s
on dsp.col1=s.col1
where dsp.col2='30-Jan-2009'
The query output used to work earlier but nowadays it seems the where clause is not working.The o/p is varied resultset.What is your Oracle version?
It is working - (Off course in a small environment i've tested it. ;) )

How to view response time for each execution in OEM 12c Cloud Control
Hi All,
I want to view response time of each execution for my SOA composite in OEM 12c Cloud Control. Can anyone tell me how can I achieve that?
Thanks in Advance!!You should open an SR and support can assist you with it. The only current case where that feature is known to not work is in the case where the Dehydration Store is running on RAC. Otherwise, it should be possible to get it to work. The main thing is that you need to have DB configuration properties (host, port, sid) that have a 3-way string match between the JDBC data source configuration in the WLS server, the JDBC properties you add to the Monitoring Properties of the SOA Infrastructure target, and the connect settings of the Database target in EM that matches to the dehydration DB.
If there isn't a match in all 3, the Dehydration Diagnostics page will not work. But again, to look into your specific setup, you should file an SR and work with support. -
Dear all;
We have only one Database server with some IIS's as web servers on front . Each web server has own oracle client software in order connect to central database..
The same following query used in C# code returns different results on each IIS server.(3 row, or not data found )
why?
select * from aTable where to_char( adate , 'dd.mm.yyyy' ) = :search_date
regards
Siya1006237 wrote:
If adate is of DATE datatype, it will most likely has the time component. Therefore your SQL below is unlikely to return any data.
select * from aTable where adate = to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')
Perhaps.....
select * from aTable where TRUNC(adate) = to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')
Hi,
not having any sample data from you I could not understand that you wanted to select the range 00:00:00 - 23:59:59 on search_date.
Your method might not be efficient if you have an index on adate.
Maybe something like this will be more efficient
select * from aTable
where adate >= to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')
and adate < to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy') + 1;
If you search_date is 30-Aug-2013 it will get records where adate >= 30-Aug-2013 00:00:00 and adate < 31-Aug-2013 00:00:00, so any time of date 30-Aug-2013.
Try like this and let us know if you still have 2 different results.
Regards.

Different results for same query on different servers
1. database being converted from 7.3.4 to 9.2
2. query is executed on both servers
3. different results!
The tables and data are the same, and indexes are setup on new server. EXPLAIN PLAN was run on both but with (predictably) widely different results.
I know, not much detail here, but has anyone ever ran into anything like this?
Thanks,

Discussion:
Notice the repeating result for X,E,5,5,23,.... in the Oracle9i retrieval using CBO.
The execution of this query returned approximately four times the number of rows as
Oracle 7.3.4 using RBO. This is a function of how many "fours" there are in table3
that have matching "threes and fours" in table1. If you put a DISTINCT clause at the
very front of the query (SELECT DISTINCT one,two,three ....) then the result is
accurate and the same as Oracle 7.3.4. In one execution of this query, 27,000 rows
are expected to be returned, but the server returned over 1 million rows!
When RBO was used on Oracle9i, the results were identical to the ones on Oracle 7.3.4. -
Different results for one query
Hi,
Today i got a very surprising issue with SQL 2008, my one team member inform that a single query is resulting two different data set from two diff-diff SSMS's query windows.
Query is like this,
Select * from table1 where trandate between '2014-08-02 00:00:00.000' and '2014-08-03 23:59:59.999' and status='S'
in one query window its showing 295 records while on same desktop in second query window its showing 602 records.
Please let me know where is problem. [:)]
Thanking you.

Virendra Yaduvanshi http://wikidba.wordpress.com/Are updates occurring that are modifying the data or do you get the same results in each window multiple times?
One thing to do is look at the actual execution plans and see if they are identical.
If parallelism is involved, try disabling it and see if the results change (I've seen some twitchy things happen with it)
If all of that checks out it may be some implicit conversion is happing to the date or there is a case sensitivity issue with the 'S' -
Different Results Remote vs Local Execution
Hello community,
Working with powershell v2, I get hung up on problem.
When I run the command "get-childitem -Recurse " on a remote machine using invoke-command, most of the Length values of the output evaluate to 0. But if I run the command on the local machine I get the expected output with the values
not being zero.
Any help will be appreciated!
Martin
Edit: It is v2 on most of the systems, including the sever hosting the scripts.Thank you for your answer Chen.
Unluckily I don't think it is about the folders. The command "get-Childitem -Path xyc -Recurse" produces the correct output if run
locally.
But if I run I from a remote machine it produces the wrong output. Sample output following:
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name PSComputerName
-ar-- 12.10.2011 17:13 2342 something.cab someServer
-ar-- 13.10.2010 16:59 938211 something.exe someServer
-ar-- 04.01.2012 19:09 61455 something..exe ´
someServer
-ar-- 12.10.2011 17:13 0 something.cab someServer
-ar-- 13.10.2010 16:59 0 something.exe someServer
-ar-- 04.01.2012 19:09 0 something..exe ´
someServer
It starts normally and then stops giving out the proper length at some point somehow.
Some more context: I use a script starting one invoke-command as a job on different servers at the same time and then collecting the results. On some severs the remote result matches the local execution and on others others it doesn't.
On the different servers, I use the same credentials, that I use for the local execution for the remote execution. -
How to get multiple output formats for each execution of the report?
Hi,
Is it possible to get multiple output formats for each execution of the report? If so can you provide some details?
ThanksIn Reports 6i, Reports Distribution was introduced. This allows you to run the report once and output to a number of destinations with a different format. It also allows you to distribute individual sections within a report to different destinations in different formats.
The Destinations for a Report to distribute to are defined either in a distribution file and passed on the command line or inside of the report definition.
To add a destination to the the report definition, bring up the property palette against the report object and then select the "Distribution" property under the "Report" node. This will bring up a dialog that allows you to create a distribution list. You can then test this list by selecting "file->distribute" from the menu.
To run a report that is to be distributed through rwrun60, you need to add "distribute=yes" to the command line. It will pick up the destinations from the report definition. If you add "destination=<filename>" then it will pick up the destinations from the specified "<filename>" and ignore the destinations in the report definition.
Note: if "distribute=yes" is specified on the command line then the destype/desname/desformat parameters will be used to format the report (ie: which printer/display to use during formatting for sizing objects) but will be ignored when the report is sent to the destinations. -

PreparedStatement & regular Statement - different results for same select
I was wondering if someone could either
i) try this out for me to confirm my results or
ii) let me know what I am doing wrong
I'm one of the developers on a product and am currently investigating localization for the Thai language...just checking to see that Java and Swing have no problems with it. The only bewildering thing which has happened is noticing that some values which are fetched from the database display in Thai perfectly and other values display as a garble. Sometimes the exact same column is displayed correctly in one part of the program but is not OK in another part. I think I've figured out what it going on and suspect a bug in Oracle's JDBC:
Some selects were configured as PreparedStatements and those return the Thai properly. The more common case however was for programmers to use a simple Statement object for their select and it is in those that the multi-byte strings don't get returned properly.
The following code shows the problem that I am experiencing. I am basically executing the exact same select in 2 different ways and they are both giving different results as long as the column being queried contains a Thai character. If someone could grab and check it out and let me know if they see the same thing, I'd appreciate it. Just change the column/table name and the username/password/databaseIP to get it to run.
<code>
import java.sql.*;
public class SelectTest {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try {
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.4.31.168:1524:ora8",
"dms_girouard",
"girouard");
String sqlCommand = "select C0620_Title from T0620_SwSheet";
Statement statement = conn.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,
ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
ResultSet resultSet1 = statement.executeQuery(sqlCommand);
while (resultSet1.next()) {
if (resultSet1.getString("C0620_Title") != null) {
System.out.println("resultSet1 Title = " + resultSet1.getString("C0620_Title"));
PreparedStatement preparedStatement = conn.prepareStatement(sqlCommand);
ResultSet resultSet2 = preparedStatement.executeQuery();
while (resultSet2.next()) {
if (resultSet2.getString("C0620_Title") != null) {
System.out.println("resultSet2 Title = " + resultSet2.getString("C0620_Title"));
catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println(e.getMessage());
</code>Hi Peter,
Are you using NCHAR column for Thai , or is your database character set set for Thai.
If you are using a NCHAR column for holding Thai data, then you have to use the
OraclePreparedStatement.setFormOfUse(...) before executing the select.
Regards
Elango. Hi Elangovan,
Thank you for answering.
The datatype on the column is VARCHAR2.
I did my initial tests without doing anything special to make sure the database is localized for Thai, and I was happy to find that almost everything still worked fine - I was able to save and retrieve Thai strings to the database almost perfectly.
The only problem I discovered was the difference between Statement and PreparedStatement selects on a column containing Thai. Colleagues of mine have said they see the same thing when testing on a Oracle database which has been configured specifically for the Thai customer.
I read somewhere that the current JDBC drivers are using an older version of the Unicode standard than the most current version of the Java SDK and that it was causing some problems with Korean. I'm wondering if maybe it's the same problem with Thai. -
Subtract sum of two columns in two different tables and display balance for each row
Hello Friends,
I have the below 5 tables

2. DEPARTMENT (DEPT_ID, NAME, CONTACT_PERSON, PHONE)
3. SECTION (SECTION_ID,SNAME,DEPT_ID,Acad_LEVEL,SHIFT,TIME,ROOM)

The above query is working fine but I'm facing only one problem with it which its showing 0 balance for both records instead of different balances like the above desired output.
Please help me in getting the desired result.
Any help would be appreciated.

Same Query returning different result (Different execution plan)
Hi all,
To day i have discovered a strange thing: a query that return a different result when using a different execution plan.
The query :
SELECT *
FROM schema.table@database a
WHERE column1 IN ('3')
AND column2 = '101'
AND EXISTS
(SELECT null
FROM schema.table2 c
WHERE a.column3 = SUBSTR (c.column1, 2, 12));where schema.table@database is a remote table.
when executed with the hint /*+ ordered use_nl(a c) */ these query return no result and its execution plan is :
Rows Row Source Operation
0 NESTED LOOPS (cr=31 r=0 w=0 time=4894659 us)
4323 SORT UNIQUE (cr=31 r=0 w=0 time=50835 us)
4336 TABLE ACCESS FULL TABLE2 (cr=31 r=0 w=0 time=7607 us)
0 REMOTE (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=130536 us)When i changed the execution plan with the hint /*+ use_hash(c a) */
Rows Row Source Operation
3702 HASH JOIN SEMI (cr=35 r=0 w=0 time=497839 us)
22556 REMOTE (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=401176 us)
4336 TABLE ACCESS FULL TABLE2 (cr=35 r=0 w=0 time=7709 us)It seem that when the execution plan have changed the remote query return no result.
It'is a bug or i have missed somthing ?
PS: The two table are no subject to insert or update statement.

Oracle version : 9.2.0.2.0
System version : HP-UX v1Hard to say. You're using a very old and deprecated version of the database, and one that was known to contain bugs.
9.2.0.7 was really the lowest version of 9i that was considered to be 'stable', but even so, it's old and lacking in many ways.
Consider upgrading to the latest database version at your earliest opportunity. (or at least apply patches up to the latest 9i version before querying if there is bugs in your really low buggy version) -
Different results on consecutive runs of OFT for Web Applications
I am using Oracle Functional Testing for Web Applications to test share point site [using: OS = WinXP SP3, default browser = IE8.0.6]
I’ve recorded simple scenario - browsing through two pages (home page > menu link > page 1)
there is no user input involved – just browsing)
problem:
I am running the same test multiple times and I get different results – sometimes (less often) I get clear ‘Passed’ results but more often I get warnings about missing items, Severe content differences)
upon comparing Master and Tested HTML I see that test fails because no content is being logged under Tested:HTML node (the content displays properly in right browser pane)
any hints?You probably need a close no save step at the end of your action.
In the save for web dialog, when you record the action, save to the folder you
want the batch dialog to put the images. Then set the batch dialog as below.

List of deployed applications. Different results for different MBean hierarchies
Hello there,
When I list the deployed applications, I am getting different results depending what MBean hierarchy I am querying:
serverConfig():
wls:/MY_WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN/serverConfig> listApplications() APPLICATION_1APPLICATION_2
domainRuntime():
wls:/MY_WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN/domainRuntime/AppRuntimeStateRuntime/AppRuntimeStateRuntime> ls()
-r-- ApplicationIds java.lang.String[APPLICATION_1, APPLICATION_2, APPLICATION_3]
Any idea why is APPLICATION_3 in the list?
Thanks in advance,
Luis
ps: if I ask directly to the managed server:
wls:/MY_WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN/domainRuntime/ServerRuntimes/prodGAD_1> ls('ApplicationRuntimes')
dr-- bea_wls9_async_response
dr-- bea_wls_cluster_internal
dr-- bea_wls_deployment_internal
dr-- bea_wls_diagnostics
dr-- bea_wls_internal
dr-- APPLICATION_1
dr-- APPLICATION_2Hello Vijaya,
Thanks for your answer, yes you are right, in my config.xml I can see that application:
<app-deployment>
<name>APPLICATION_3</name>
<target>...</target>
<module-type>ear</module-type>
<source-path>...ear</source-path>
<security-dd-model>DDOnly</security-dd-model>
</app-deployment>
But at the moment that I read your response I had already restarted the AdminServer. This re-start has solved the issue.
Thanks,
Luis -
Any way possible to have different New Eamil alret sounds for each account
I have 4 different email accounts on my iPhone. Is there a way to have a different New Email Alert sound for each account. Most of the times I am only interested in emails I get in one or two of the accounts and if I had a different Alert for them I would know right away rather than having to go through each account inbox to find out which one got a new email.
Not at this time.
