Different types of clients Chatting

In our application,We are thinking to develop a project implementing networking (socket programming) and multi threading…
Is it possible to develop a chat application with the following requirements:
1) number of clients need to communicate with the server
(many-to-one).
2) number of experts need to communicate with the server(many-to-one).
3) the server has to exchange the messages(text, voice, video) between connected clients and experts(LIVE SUPPORT) (one-to-one).
4) Further the experts must view the connected clients list in their frame ..
…Is it possible to achieve this requirement using these technologies……….. If no, then which technology do you think supports the requirement??????
Thanking you in advance !!!!!!!

  • Rendering JSF Component to Different Kinds of Clients

    Hi,
    Sub:
    How can I render my custom component to different types of clients like web, swing, PDA and so on.
    Exlanation:
    Suppose I have created a JSF custom component for web which includes(Tag,Component and Renderer).
    If i want to use the same component for different clients like swing or PDA, how can it is possible...
    Any info related to this????
    At least I should use Tag and Component for another types of clients also.
    I'm not getting any info related to this....
    If any body throw any kind of help is highly appreciable.
    Thanks && regards,
    Ram

    We had a demo of this for JavaOne. Also, I think some of the current books out there cover this topic. I'll see if I can get the demo source code published to java.net.

  • The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information using Update Item action

       I got error  "The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information "I  found out the cause is  Update Item action
    I need to update item in another List call Customer Report ,the field call "Issues"  with data type  "Choice"   to yes
    then the error arise .   please help..

    Thanks for the quick response Nikhil.
    Our SPF 2010 server is relatively small to many setups I am sure. The list with the issue only has 4456 items and there are a few associated lists, eg lookups, Tasks, etc see below for count.
    Site Lists
    Engagements = 4456 (Errors on this list, primary list for activity)
    Tasks = 7711  (All workflow tasks from all site lists)
    Clients = 4396  (Lookup from Engagements, Tslips, etc)
    Workflow History = 584930 (I periodically run a cleanup on this and try to keep it under 400k)
    Tslips = 3522 (Engagements list can create items here, but overall not much interaction between lists)
    A few other lists that are used by workflows to lookup associations that are fairly static and under 50 items, eg "Parters Admin" used to lookup a partners executive admin to assign a task.

  • Unexpected element name - confusion of types in client

    I have a web service definition that performs four operations:
    - String getTitle(long) - returns a title for a single asset
    - StringArrayType) getTitles(LongArrayType) - returns an ordered list of titles matching input list
    - AssetSummaryType getSummary(long) - Returns a complex type, summary information of an asset
    - AssetSummaryArrayType getSummaries(LongArrayType) - Returns an array of complex types
    Based on the WSDL (included at the bottom of this posting) I then generate the service
    endpoint using wscompile and -f:wsi option (JDK 1.4.2-05 and JWSDP-1.4).
    This is built into a raw war file and then cooked using wsdeploy.
    On the client side I create stubs using wscompile and -f:wsi and compile
    the resultant code. My client invokes each of the operations in turn, having been
    provided the relevant 'longs' as input.
    The service is deployed in JBoss-3.2.2 and the client is then executed from a separate JVM.
    I then see the following client error:
    java.rmi.RemoteException: Runtime exception; nested exception is:

    If I deploy the same service with only the first two operations defined within wsdl,
    the error is not seen.
    I have also tried compilation on JWSDP 1.3 and JDK 1.4.1-03 and in this case the same error
    occurs but the other way around. The two 'title' operations work but the summary
    operations fail with the actual element encountered being a StringElement or StringArrayElement
    and the expected an AssetSummaryElement or AssetSummaryArrayElement.
    Further, if I change the name of the StringElement to for example 'MyStringElement', this is
    reported as the actual - i.e. there is no confusion with a standard type at play here.
    I also use handlers, one on the server side to inspect security information and one on the
    client to insert relevant details and look for returned errors within the header.
    Is this a known problem within JWSDP 1.3 and/or 1.4? Are there any workarounds.
    My wsdl is provided below along with the wscompile options and the matching configuration
    files used.

    Here is the wscompile for the server - this is within an ant script that substitutes the variables specified:
    wscompile -keep -d ${path.classes} -s ${src.autojava} -import -model model.gz -f:wsi -f:documentliteral server-config.xml
    and this is the server config:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <configuration xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config">
    <wsdl location="file:///C:temp/MyAssetService_wsi.wsdl" packageName="example.com.wsserver.asset.wrapper">
    <handlerChains>
    <chain runAt="server">
    <handler className="example.com.wsserver.security.SecurityServerHandler">
    <property name="name" value="SecurityServerHandler"/>
    </handler>
    </chain>
    </handlerChains>
    </wsdl>
    </configuration>
    On the client side, here is the wscompile, again with ant variable substitution:
    wscompile -gen:client -keep -d ${path.build.wsclient.class} -s ${path.build.wsclient.autojava} -classpath ${path.build.wsclient.class} -f:wsi -f:documentliteral client-config.xml
    And here is the client config:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <configuration xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config">
    <wsdl location="file:///C:/temp/MyAssetService_wsi.wsdl" packageName="example.com.wsclient.asset">
    <handlerChains>
    <chain runAt="client">
    <handler className="example.com.wsclient.security.SecurityClientHandler">
    <property name="name" value="SecurityClientHandler"/>
    </handler>
    </chain>
    </handlerChains>
    </wsdl>
    </configuration>
    Note that I generate slightly different packages on client and server side. The server includes a 'wrapper' path on the package name - purely because the
    generated code wrappers an existent api that I am making available as a web service. This is not needed to be seen
    on the client side - i.e. the service appears as is without the wrapper.
    I have tried omitting the documentliteral from the wscompiles and this seems to have no effect.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Best regards
    Lawrence

    Thanks for the prompting. I was convinced that the error was occurring client side as I could see no activity on the server. However having captured the soap request and responses its evident that this is not the case (which I'm a little confused on based on my original tests, but the error makes more sense in this context).
    The request is below:
    <env:Envelope xmlns:enc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:ns0="http://example.com/myAssetWebSvc" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <env:Header>
    <ns1:mmsSecurity env:actor="security" env:mustUnderstand="1" xmlns:ns1="http://example.com/myAssetWebSvc">
    <principal>example.user</principal>
    <password>mypassword</password>
    </ns1:mmsSecurity>
    </env:Header>
    <env:Body>
    <ns0:LongElement>166333</ns0:LongElement>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    I can see from the body that the signature is not unique - its the same as that of the Summary operation. In this case, the server side is performing the summary (rather than the title that I had intended) and returning that response. This gives rise to the deserialisation error on the client side for the response.
    Presumably I need to move to the wrapped document literal style so that the request is uniquely identified on the server side.
    To me this was not an obvious gotcha, Could the parser (wscompile) be enhanced to trap identical request message definitions within a single service/endpoint definition (i.e. WSDL)? If so where should I post the request?

  • How to send different type of data

    Hello, everyone,
    I am trying to send different types of data between client and server.
    For example, from server to client, I need to send some String data, using PrintWriter.println(String n); and send some other stuff using OutputStream.write(byte[] b, int x, int y). What I did is setting up a socket, then send them one by one. But it didn't work.
    I am just wondering if there is anything I need to do right after I finished sending the String data and before I start sending other stuff using OutputStream. (Because if I only send one of them, then it works; but when I send them together, then the error always happened to the second one no matter I use PrintWriter first or the OutputStream first)

    To send mixed type of data by hand allways using the same output/input stream, you could do:
    on server side
            ServerSocket serverSocket = null;
            Socket clientSocket = null;
            OutputStream out = null;
            try
                /*setup a socket*/
                serverSocket = new ServerSocket(4444);
                clientSocket = clientSocket = serverSocket.accept();
                out = new BufferedOutputStream(clientSocket.getOutputStream());
                /*send a byte*/
                int send1 = 3;
                out.write(send1);
                /*send a string with a line termination*/
                String send2 = "a string sample";
                out.write(send2.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"));
                out.write('\n');
            finally
                try { out.close(); }
                catch (Exception e) {}
                try { clientSocket.close(); }
                catch (Exception e) {}
                try { serverSocket.close(); }
                catch (Exception e) {}
    on client side
            Socket clientSocket = null;
            InputStream in = null;
            try
                clientSocket = new Socket("localhost", 4444);
                in = new BufferedInputStream(clientSocket.getInputStream());
                /*receive the byte*/
                int receive1 = in.read();
                System.out.println("The received message #1 is: " + receive1);
                /*receive the string up to the line termination*/
                ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                int c;
                while (((c = in.read()) != '\n') && (c != -1))
                    baos.write(c);
                String receive2 = baos.toString("ISO-8859-1");
                System.out.println("the received message #2 is: " + receive2);
            finally
                try { in.close(); }
                catch (Exception e) {}
                try { clientSocket.close(); }
                catch (Exception e) {}

  • Different type of menu

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to change the menu. Now,We are using menu, which is of Hierarchical tree type(Dynamically populated one). The client does not want any static menu. But he does not want this type of hierarchical tree type. Can any one give me the suggestions regarding what are the different types of menu.
    Regards,
    Alok Dubey

    You may use a list or combo. And each menu item will be an item in the list/combo. And on the when-mouse-dobleclick trigger perform the action for the list value.
    Years ago I used a combo and a list. When changing the combo choice, the list was populated from a DB table with the menu choices for the group defined by the combo choice.

  • Different types of Contacts

    Hi
    We have a CRM that is mainly used by our sales team in managing their client relationships and consequently the Accounts\Contacts sections are filled with their data. In addition we have other, smaller teams - eg communications, exec office etc - that also
    have contact records that they'd like to manage. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to manage these records that all share common contact-like features and yet in various ways need to be kept secure and separate etc. I'm aware we could use different
    crm instances and/or different business units and/or custom entities but I'm also aware of the drawbacks with each of these eg outlook client can only integrate with one instance, custom entities lose out on core tracking functionality etc etc.
    What do people generally do in this situation when needing to house different types of contact record?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    We do something fairly similar ourselves and we manage it with business units and multiple security roles. These roles apply to the various business units to determine how they behave within these teams.
    So, for example, any accounts or contacts that are owned by a sales person can be read by anyone in sales but only written to by the owner. They also don't have visiblity of any other business unit's accounts. However, tech staff need to manage their own
    contacts but also create work records against sales's accounts can see everything.
    To be honest, I don't think there's going to be any other way to accomplish this. I would have said that the recommended approach to limiting access is done via security roles and these are closely linked to the business unit set up.
    Field level security is another area to consider but, from what you've said, I don't think it would be relevant here.

  • Confused about different types of currency

    Hello Gurus,
             what is second local currency and third local currency ? How many types of currency are used in the reporting ?
    can you give a ellaborated explain about those different types of currency .
    Many thanks,
    Frank

    Hi,
    In Financial Accounting, you can define up to two parallel currencies in addition to the local currency. Your ledgers are thereby managed in these parallel currencies in addition to the local currency.
    You can use various different currency types as parallel currencies.  You define the currency for a currency type when you define the organizational units.
    Group Currency: You define the group currency when you define your client.
    Company Currency: You define the company currency when you define the company that is assigned to your company code.
    Hard Currency: You define the hard currency when you define the country that your company code is assigned to.
    Index-Based Currency: You define the index currency when you define the country that your company code is assigned to.
    You can use a maximum of two parallel currencies (second and third local currencies).

  • Different types of tables and purpose

    Hi,
    Could someone explain me the different types of tables an what data they store.
    Sonali

    hi Sonali,
    These are the different types of tables in MDM
    Flat Tables : It is a simple table consisting of record and fields ( rows and column) .
    Hierarchy Table : A hierarchy table organizes information in a hierarchy, where each record is related to a parent record (even if the only parent is the root) and may also be related to sibling records and/or child records.
    Taxonomy Table : A taxonomy is the classification scheme that defines the categories and subcategories that apply to a collection of records. Categorizing records enables you to isolate subsets of records for various organizing, searching, editing and publishing purposes.
    Qualified Table : A qualified table in MDM stores a set of lookup records,and also supports qualifiers, u201Csubfieldsu201D that apply not to the qualified table record by itself, but rather to each association of a qualified table record with a main table record. MDM supports multiple simultaneous qualified tables.
    Tables are also Categorized as Object Tables like :
    Images : This table is for storing Images
    Sounds : This table is for storing Sound File.
    Videos : This table is for  storing Video Files .
    Binary Objects : This table is for storing Binary Objects.
    Text Blocks : This table is for storing  block of text.
    Copy Blocks : This table is for storing  block of text interpreted as a Copy.
    Text HTML`s : This table is for storing  block of text interpreted as a HTML.
    PDFs : This table is for storing PDF files.
    There are various types of Special Tables , i have mentioned below:
    Image Variants : Used to define the structure
    and format of each of the variants for each image. Each variant is a modified version derived from an original image; the original image is never modified.
    Masks : In this defined subset of records are included in Mask i.e. in any scenario whether new records are added or deleted in the repository the records in the Mask remains the same unless edited by the user.
    Families : Used to further partition main table records in each category into smaller groups based upon the values of other fields and/or attributes.
    Relationships : Used to define each of the different record-level relationships. Each relationship can be either bidirectional (sibling) or unidirectional (parent-child).
    Workflows : Stores the workflows of an MDM repository, where each workflow is stored as a record in the table.
    Name Searches : Unlike Masks in case of Name search there are again a defined set of records but those records are selected on the basis of Search Selection. In this case if a record is added then the record is checked whether it fulfills the particular search criteria if it does than it is added to the Name serach else not.
    Data Groups : Stores the hierarchy of data groups used to break the entire set of objects in the MDM repository into manageable subgroups.
    There are various types of System Tables :
    Roles : A single table named Roles. One of three tables used to implement MDM repository security and access control. Each role can selectively grant or deny access to any MDM function and to any table or field. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Users : A single table named Users. One of three tables used to implement MDM repository security and access control. Each user can have one or more roles. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Connections : A single table named Connections. One of three tables used to implement MDM repository security and access control. Contains an entry for each currently connected MDM client application, which can be terminated by the MDM Console user. This table is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Change Tracking : A single table named Change Tracking. Allows you to specify the fields for which adds, modifies, and deletes should be tracked and stored in the Change Tracking table.
    Remote Systems : A single table named Remote Systems. Used to define the different remote systems for import and export. Each specifies whether it supports inbound, outbound, or both. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Ports : A single table named Ports. Used to encapsulate the logistical and configuration info for inbound and outbound processing of MDM data, for consolidation and distribution respectively. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Links : A single table named Links. Used to specify the URLs that can be used as the target of an embedded browser in the Web tab in the MDM Client. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.
    XML Schema : A single table named XML Schemas. Used to identify the XML schemas for import and syndication. Each XML schema is the name of an .xsd file. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Reports : A single table named Reports. Contains an entry for each report file generated by the various MDM repository operations, which can be accessed and viewed by the MDM Console user. This table is not visible in the MDM Client.
    Logs : A single table named Logs. Contains an entry for the log files generated by the MDM Server, which can be accessed and viewed by the MDM Console user. This table is not visible in the MDM Client.
    In MDM SP06 5.5 we can have only one main table, but in MDM 7.1 version we can maintain many main tables.

  • Determine type of client installed

    can someone help me to determine which type of client is installed on my Windows server 2003 R2? The reason I am asking is because I am getting two different results. for example when I invoke sqlplus, the banner shows 10.2.0.1 but when I go to odbc drivers tool in windows the version of driver shows 10.2.0.3 which I think the current driver installed. I cannot identify if the current version of client is full version or just an instant client? is there a way to find out which type of client is installed? By the way there is only one oracle home so I can that the driver has to be called from the same home as sqlplus runs from yet both shows different versions. I didn't install client on this system nor there is any documentation about this system. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Right, that's not all. I'm just trying to proceed step by step.
    If these DLLs are somewhere on the system, somebody must have installed Instant Client at some time, whether the installation is still operational or not.
    The directory where these DLLs are found will also aid the investigation.
    The next thing would be to see if Universal Installer is installed or not (perhaps available as Setup or similar in a start menu entry).
    Running that should show you the non-Instant-Client software components.
    Alternatively, you can insert an Oracle Installation CD and start the setup process.
    That should let you see the currently installed software.

  • The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information. Outcome: Unknown Error

    Received this error (The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information.) recently on a workflow that was
    working fine and no changes were made to the workflow.
    I have tried a few suggestions, i.e. adding a pause before any ‘Update’ action (which didn’t help because the workflow past this action without incident); checked the data type being written
    to the fields (the correct data types are being written); and we even checked the list schema to ensure the list names and the internal names are aligned (they
    are), but we still cannot figure out why the workflow is still throwing this error.
    We located the area within the workflow step where it is failing and we inserted a logging action to determine if the workflow would execute the logging action but it did not, but wrote the same error message.
    The workflow is a Reusable Approval workflow designed in SharePoint Designer 2010 and attached to a content type.
    The form associated with the list was modified in InfoPath 2010.
    Approvers would provide their approval in the InfoPath form which is then read by the workflow.
    Side note - items created after the workflow throws this Unknown Error some seem to be working fine.
    We have deleted the item in question and re-added it with no effect.
    Based on what we were able to determine there don’t seem to be any consistency with how this issue is behaving.
    Any suggestions on how to further investigate this issue in order to find the root cause would be greatly appreciated?
    Cheers

    Hi,
    I understand that the reusable workflow doesn’t work properly now. Have you tried to remove the Update list item action to see whether the workflow can run without issue?
    If the workflow runs perfectly when the Update list item action is removed, then you need to check whether there are errors in the update action. Check whether the values have been changed.

  • Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter issues (2 different types, no info from Apple)

    as you can see below, I have an iBook G4 1.2GHz
    three weeks ago I got a Mini-DVI to Video Adapter
    there were two different types in the Apple Store because there are two generations of Mini-DVI outputs, therefore some close inspection and it was easy to get the right part.
    Now, three weeks later, all that stuff is off the shelf so it looks like they only have up the more recent size plug. Thus, I cannot find the slightly smaller Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter. (typical Apple, probably just wants me to spend more money on a new machine)
    Anyone have a line on where to buy the older type of adapter?
    be very careful out there. They are pimping the heck out of the newer generations. I'm looking for the older one.
    (if not, I'll probably just stop buying Apple stuff. No need for the headache any more since they are no longer really different products. Just fashion)

    I have both an iBook G4 and a MacBook, which use each of the adaptors you have described. I found the information on the Apple site by identifying the Model iBook I had, Dual USB, and looking at he detailed views of each model to identify the type of 'video output port'. I obtained a '2 input' VGA switch from Tiger Direct to be able to switch my monitor from iBook to MacBook.
    Hope this helps!

  • Different display on client report builder and web reports

    Hi all, I have build a report in report 6i version Report Builder 6.0.8.13.1.And I set the page to 8.5*11 ,and it runs well in the client ,but when I put it on the UNIX SERVER,and run it from web URL,It displayed different from the client report builder.The web report is "smaller" than the client report ,but the font size is as same as the client .
    My HPUX is 11x,and display the Chinese report .
    Any body know why ?give me some advice ,thank u very much.

    Hi
    If you had built the report definition on Windows and then moved this to Unix server, you may find different fonts in use. This is becuase your Unix setup does not have the same fonts install. At design time, You need to use fonts which are available on Unix also. The same fonts shaould also be installed for printer in Unix i.e. the AFM/PFM font files should be kept under $ORACLE_HOME/guicommonX/tkXX/admin/AFM or PFM directory. This would give you the same output and would lessen the porting affect.
    Thanks

  • Convert different types of files and merged them into one pdf

    Hi, everyone. I'm girl from China.
    There is folder containing severl files of different types, like doc, msg, jpeg etc.   And I want to convert and merge them into one pdf following a certain order. I know that PDFmaker can do that nicely, but the problem is that I have like 3000+ fodlders that requires the same work.
    I want to do it with VBA and Acrobat. I have a Acrobat XI Standard Version and a perfect license, by the way
    And I have got the code(Thanks, Karl Heinz Kremer) of merging two pdfs into one, but how can I convert them into pdf first?
    Thank you very much.
    If I can finish this, I would like to publish my code on this forum.

    Wow, that's great news. But how should I add the Action?
    1. There is no action named "Covert files into Pdf" in the tools panel....
    And if I write Javascript code to do this action. How should I write it?
    app.openDoc({
    cPath: "/c/temp/myPic.jpg",
    bUseConv: true
    These code only works when I specify the path of the file.
    If you know how, pls tell me..........
