Dimensions for branch accounts?.
We would like to know if usage of dimensions for branch accounting in SAP B1 would be a goods way to account for branches.
This would enable us to use one standard chart of accounts. However, how do we enter opening balances etc.?
Also does SAP provide for dimension wise user definitions and authorisations?
Can warehouses be linked to dimensions too?
We would also like to know how does SAP B1 intend dimensions to be used?? What is the basic purpose of having dimensions.

See dimension is use basically for internal reporting purpose.
if you wnat to manage branch accounting you need to go for account segmentation.
There is no dimension wise authorisation.
you cant liked your warehouses to dimensions.
Dimension is only use for internal department reporting but dimension not fullfill your all financial reporting
(Basically user department wise irect ex direct revenue indirect exp indirect rev )

We are implementing a HFM application to replace two general ledger applications, one being Corporate and the other a new subsidiary. We need to maintain both of the chart of accounts and their unique rollup structures. We are facing the difficulty in attempting to combine the two chart of accounts into one HFM Account Dimension because a few of the subsidiary accounts have the same account numbers but they are meant different things.
Question:
How can we set up two distinct account structures in HFM and also have the subsidiary accounts rolled into the Corporate accounts for consolidation reporting?

Branch Accounting in Classic GL in one company code
Dear Expert,
Our client have 10 branches in India and now they requirement to open all branches in one company code. Client also working on class GL therefore document splitting is not possible.
Please advise the best solution for branch accounting in one company code in classic GL so that client can extract balance sheet at Branch level.

Dunning for head office/branch account
Hi All,
Our client is maintaining the customers with relationship of head office and branch account.
Ex: Customer 1 has been created as Head office account and the same customer maintained as branch office account.
Head office customers are maintained with series Axxxxxxxxxx
Branch office customers are maintained with series Bxxxxxxxxxx
In the customer master data for branch customer Bxxxxxxxxxx, relationship wtih head officehas been maintained.
In the current scenario, we raised an invoice with customer Bxxxxxxxxxx for Rs.1000, in the next activity we received an amount of Rs.200 from the same customer through his head office account Axxxxxxxxxx.
Now if i go to t.code: FBL5N for customer Axxxxxxxxxx. system shows an outstanding amount of rs.800(i.e. 1000 -200). Now i would like to issue a dunning notice to the customer Axxxxxxxxxx. when i run the dunning run system is not giving the correct result(i.e dunning letter not showing the outstanding balance as rs.800). when i run the dunning for customer Axxxxxxxxxx it shows only amount received rs.200(not considering the invoice amount rs.1000 )
When i run the dunning for customer Bxxxxxxxxxx it shows outstanding balance as rs.1000.
Can somebody suggest me how can i get correct dunning letter when i run for customer Axxxxxxxxxx. (i would like to send a dunning notice with Rs.800 (1000-200)

Reporting for multiple Accounts by Partner dimension for multiple Entities
Hi all,
I have a report in Reporting Studio which uses a Sum column formula to add data for all the members selected in a prompt for the Entity dimension (which is in the columns of the report).
In the rows I have 2 dimensions, Partner and Account. I have the report set up to display the children of Partner and multiple accounts for each Partner. The issue I am having is that I would need to actually calculate one of the account totals (it is a Yield account) since summing the yields for partners is not valid.
I can't just pull out and calculate the Yield accounts though because the accounts need to be listed by Partner.
Is there a way to group two rows so that I can pull out and calculate the Yield account but still display the accounts by Partner?
So I was thinking:
Partner A Account 1, Account 2
Partner A Yield
Partner B Account 1, Account 2
Partner B Yield
I can't hardcode this as there are hundreds of Partners. If there is a way to set up auto-calculate to Average only the Yield accounts, that would work as well in theory.
Any help would be appreciated. If any clarification is needed just let me know.

There are too many possible department combinations to actually create member formulas for each one.
The formula for Yield is Revenue/Units. So an example would be $100,000 revenue divided across 1,000,000 units gives a Yield of 0.10.
The more I think about this problem, the more I realize that this may not possible. If a manual calculation is required I would need to have it so that I'm able to match up the children of Revenue with the children of Units in order to calculate the various Yields. From my experience this isn't possible. I am staying away from hard-coding in the report as it would create issues down the road.
If there is some way to utilize auto-calculation that may be the only solution.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated though.

As you have mentioned branch , how have you treated branch ? are they profit centers or business area ?

Need quantitative as well as amount data for an account member
Requirement of the report is that for an account dimension member, there needs to be quatity, amount as well as a ratio in a single line along with the unit for the quantity (which i will keep in the custom dim).
Is this possible.. what are the ways i can handle this?
i was thinking of creating two scenarios.. one for the quantity data and the other for the amount data... will this work? i will calculate the ratio at the report level (smart view)

One possibility is to turn the structure around, by using a custom member as your report row and use different accounts to input your quantity, value and ratio. Further, the ratio account can be defined as dynamic account and write a dynamic rule to calculate the ratio.

Currently my client is using traditional Branch Accounting functionality in their bespoke legacy system. Where there are transfers between branches, e.g. transfers of funds or payment of expenses on behalf of another branch, an intermediate/clearing account is used.
Example:
Branch A pays for expense on behalf of Branch B
In the books of branch A
DR Interbranch - Clearing a/c
CR Bank (Branch A)
In the books of branch B
DR Expense
CR Interbranch - Clearing a/c
Both branch A and B are under the same legal compay code.
My client would like to retain these type of postings within SAP. I am planning to use Business Area to represent Branch.
Could you please advise if such posting schemes are possible in SAP? If so, please could you advise on how to set this up in SAP.

Business area is not advisable.Go for profit center accounting.
While Creating GL Accounts, you can mention the GL Accounts as Interbranch in GL Account description.You can also maintain clearing accounts in GL
Have you explored SAP Banking Module. I do not much about this? Give it a try.

Hi All,
Need some advise on these.
Our period dimension is Jan-Dec, however, the subsidiaries submit the data only in March, June, September and December.
We set the DefaultFrequency to MTD, DefaultView to YTD, MissingData0ViewForNonAdj is YTD and MissingData0ViewForAdj is Periodic.
The data that we load for BS and PnL accounts are all in YTD and we consolidate in YTD (ConsolidateYTD is Yes).
Now we have situation where one of our entity is sold on December 2010.
Since the setting zeroview for actual scenario is set to YTD, we are expecting that when we check the december period, the PnL accounts for this entity is in the system with the same amount of september data.
However, the PnL account show 0 data, even if we select the View to YTD.
And when we run the consolidation, the PnL data for this entity is not aggregated to the total consol due to the unavailability of the YTD data.
Is it normal behavior of HFM? Is there any explanation about this?

IndraWhat you see is based on the application design -- specifically the scenario settings. You need to understand the MissingDataAsZero settings. What you describe is the norm for a scenario where these settings are "YTD". That is, you've told HFM to interpret missing data as a YTD zero. In this case, HFM will derive a negative Periodic value in order to arrive at a zero YTD value.
This is only one of your worries in my opinion. If you have foreign currency entities which only load quarterly rather than monthly, you have a translation problem if you use PVA for flow accounts (app setting) which is the most common configuration. In this case, the P&L accounts loaded only to the last periods of each quarter will use only that period's average rate for all of the activity, rather than the period in which the activity really took place.

SPRUNCONVERSION : Pb of Conversion for some account

I face a strange problem.
While running my SpRunConversion, All Work Fine. BUT, for few accounts, the amount converted is doubled;
My case :
I run a Finance Application
No Flow dimension
All Accounts have the AccType to EXP, Except those few accounts
Those few accounts have a dimension formula made of the sum of two accounts have AccType to EXP.
While Running my SpRunConversion, no Error Message, just this Warning Message : FX-45 on opening property.
Another something strange :
1) When I run the conversion for one month, I get the problem on the month converted. And could October, as November, Or January. Equal...
2) When I run the conversion automatically for a range of months selected thanks to a property, I get the problem on January.
Is there any link to my Warning Message. ?

In LabVIEW PDA, the "Format into String.vi" adds a space ("/s" in codes display) after the last character in the output string.
There are 2 workarounds which are demonstrated in the attached VI.
1) Take a subset of the "resulting string" that eliminates the "/s".
2) Use another VI depending on what kind of data type you want to format. In this case, I am inputting a number so I can use the "Number to Fractional String.vi".

G/L determination while Invoicing for branches
Hi guys,
We are having some problem in G/L Determination for A/R Invoice.Our Company has 4 Different Branches in 4 different states.
While Posting Sales A/R Invoice to the Branches we want some particular account to be debited instead of the SALE OF GOODS account.
Is There any way to define the G/L Accounts for the Branches while invoicing.
For remaninng all other customers it has to call the Sale of Goods Account itself and while doing the invoice for branches the particular account needs to be debited.
is there any SP or any work around to achieve this,.

Currency for GL account related to foreign bank

I have a GL account which is "Bank account for foreign branch". Our company code currency is USD. The Bank account is in Euro.Can the currency for Bank account GL be set up in USD (the co code currency) ? I think it should be.But there is a similar account ( bank in germany ) has set with GL as Euro. I am not sure which is best practices , setting up bank account in Co Code currency or docuemnt currency ? Kindly guide me, it is very urgent.

GL accounts corresponding to Bank Accounts are generally maintained in the respective currency. In this case it is advisable to maintain it in EUR and not USD.
This helps as below:
1. GL balances are always visible in EUR and can be verified against bank statements.
2. Period end FC gain/loss can be valuated and posted.
SAP documentation also suggests that Bank accounts are maintained in respective currencies.

We use a head office and branch customer accounts in a project. I recorded branch customer accounts and head office from customer master record and assigned all of the branch accounts to a head office. When i post invoice and made the collection in branch account, i see the all of the transactions also in head office account in FBL5N. I have not a problem in these processes. But when i want to do a partial clearing, i can not see the clearing document and balances in branch customer account in FBL5N. I can only see the clearing document in head office account in FBL5N.
I want to see the clearing document in branch accounts in FBL5N. Because our customers want to follow not only head office, but also branch customer account in FBL5N.

When i want to do clearing of branch account in F-32, system give a warning "no open items were found".Because of this i do clearing to head office account. Example:
We have a invoice in 1000 EUR. Its document type is DR and our customer is A branch.
And regarding to this invoice we made a collection from customer in 800 EUR. Its document type is DZ and our customer is also A branch. These documents have been posted in branch account but automatically they are assigned to head office account. Then i want to clear these documents in system in F-32. But branch account can not be cleared. Because of this i m clearing the head office account ragarding to branch account.
My problem is i can see the clearing document in 200 EUR difference posting in line items of head office account in FBL5N. But i can not see this clearing document in line items of branch account. I also want to see the difference postings in line items of branch account.

Post interest on arrears to the branch account

I have assigned customer code A001 in the head office field in customer master data for A001B1. When I run F.2B for interest on arrears, only 1 document is posted for the interest for both head office and branch account.
However, the interest for branch and head office should be posted separately to the respective account. How can this be done?

The problem with comment is that for one account, we can store only one comment.
We thought to add an additional dimension with some predefined members, but then users will lose a flexibility to add a comment that they wish.
