Dimensions

Hi,
I have a created a dimension and trying to create logical level for this dimension.
The Add and Remove buttons are disabled.
Can anyone suggest ahy am i not able to add any child levels?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
You are trying to create the level in a wrong way. To add a new logical level you need to click on the existing level and go to New Object --> Child level.
Since you are new to OBI go through the Oracle by Example demos. This would give you a much better understanding of the steps for OBI Development :-

  • How to delete the members in one dimension use the maxl script

i have question that i want to delete the members in one dimension useing the maxl script, but i do not know how to do it. can the maxl delete the members in one dimension? if can, please provide an sample script, thank you so mcuh.

MaxL does not have commands to alter an outline directly, except the reset command which can delete all dimensions but not members selectively. The best you could do would be to run a rules file (import dimensions) using a file that contains the members you want to keepload rule for the dimension. As typical the warning is to test this first before you do it on a production database

  • How to use one Account dimension for multiple account structures

We are implementing a HFM application to replace two general ledger applications, one being Corporate and the other a new subsidiary. We need to maintain both of the chart of accounts and their unique rollup structures. We are facing the difficulty in attempting to combine the two chart of accounts into one HFM Account Dimension because a few of the subsidiary accounts have the same account numbers but they are meant different things.
    Question:
How can we set up two distinct account structures in HFM and also have the subsidiary accounts rolled into the Corporate accounts for consolidation reporting?
    Appreciate your help.

    Hope this help.

  • Can not view data in Dimension Data Viewer

    Hello Forum,
Has anyone run into this one yet? with OWB10gr2
we have created a dimension called store, it has a simple hiearchy"
    store-->category-->primary category-->Busines Unit
The dimension validates and deploys sucessfully - we have seen the notes to choose Deploy All for configuration instead of the default, reason being that if you don't choose Deploy All you will not be able to view it through the data viewer
We have mapped the data from our oracle staging table to the dimension and our map has run without error.
We can see data in the underlying table that supports the dimension, but when we open the dimension with object editor and try to view the loaded data via the dimension data view we get nothing?
    What's up with that?
    thx again
    monalisa

You're probably running into the same known bug we hit. See the OWB 10gR2 release notes, under "Known Issues / OLAP Catalog". Probably hitting the mentioned OLAP bug 4945008.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to use property of dimension to filter the 2nd dimension in Allocation?

    Hi experts,
How do we use a property of one dimension to filter out the members of another dimension in allocation script engine?
    eg of two dimensions
    1.)Entity dimension - (entity dimension)
      memberset:                                        Channeltype (property)
                       Stores
                        Store1                           Boutique
                        Store2                           Kiosk
                        Store3                           Branch
                        Store4                           Concession
                        Store5                           Franchise
                      Nonstore
2.)business Channel dimension - (user define)
       memberset:
                   Channeltype
                       Boutique
                       Kiosk
                       Branch
                       Concession
                       Franchise
                       Nochannel
    in allocation code
    *runallocation
    *factor
    *dim entity                          what=Nonstore;                where=bas(Stores)
    *dim businesschannel        what=nochannel;             where= ? ;
    *endallocation
The thing is that when the engine selected store 2 for entity it should select kiosk as its businesschannel.
    Please advise.
    Thanks as always,
    yajepe

    Hi,
In this case, I believe, you should have the allocation within a for loop. But you should note that the performance might reduce.
    *FOR %VAR% = BAS(STORES)
       *RUNALLOCATION
       *FACTOR
*DIM ENTITY WHAT = NONSTORE; WHERE = %VAR%
*DIM BUSINESSCHANNEL WHAT = NOCHANNEL; WHERE = %VAR%.CHANNELTYPE
       *ENDALLOCATION
    *NEXT
    Hope this helps.

  • How to use the RateEntity dimension in SAP BPC?

    Hello everbody,
I am implementing a consolidation process using SAP BPC. I want to use the RateEntity dimension, to translate a same currency into different exchange rates depending on the company.
I want the company which ID is GFU (which is from Brazil) in LegalEntity dimension is converted using a special exchange rate. I have added a GFU member in RateEntity dimension, and I have entered the exchange rates for the member GFU and for the member Global in RateEntity dimension.
But the problem is that after I run the FX Restatement package, converted data for this company is not the proper one, because Global exchange rates have been used instead of GFU exchange rates. Does anybody know why? Do I have to do anything else?
Thank you very much for your time

Do you see the search functionality in the upper left of the screen?
Okay, now type in ecatt, press enter and in the next screen filter on blogs.

  • How to hide member Account dimension from BPC Administrator for Reporting

Hi experts, i need to hide some members of the Account dimension for reporting, because those members dont use it anymore, but i dont want delete them.
The question is: Does it exist any propierties for this dimension type that allows hiding members in reporting without set members in the BPC for Excel?
I can create a report which contain the members i want to show, but if any change occurs (client desire) the report is outdated.
    Thank you in advance
    Ignacio Vazquez

    Ignacio,
There is no function like that.
You can choose below two options.
    1. Create a property like  'NOUSE'  and set a value 'Y' for unused member
When you create EVDRE report, set a filter against that property that has value 'N'
then those members will not be shown at the report.
    2. Create 'NOUSE' parent member and put members under this parent member.
Maybe option 1 is more easier to do that.
I hope it will help you

  • Use one dimension to feed 2 other dimensions

Is there a way to use one dimension to push data into two other dimensions using push logic?  The client has one dimension in App1 that is a combination of 2 dimensions in App2 ie the Costcenter dimension in App1 is a combination of Plant and Account in App2.
Now they want to push data from App1 into App2 using the Costcenter dimension to populate the Plant and Account.
I have Plant and Acct properties in the Costcenter dimension for mapping.
I tried to use *Rename_dim CC= CC.Plant and *Rename_dim CC=CC.Acct but would get errors when validating the logic script.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Parameters
    COSTCENTER: 70101014
When I test the logic using the logic debugger, I get the error:
    Validate member failed:
    70101014
    70101014
    70101014
    70101014 on COSTCENTER dimension
When I run the logic thru data manager, the package is successful but the end of the detail status log is 'No records to process'
The push logic should ideally take the Costcenter 70101014 from App1 and take the first 4 char (7010) and record to the Plant dimension in App2 then take the last 4 char (1014) and record to the Account dimension in App2
    Logic script:
    *DESTINATION_APP= APP2
    *RENAME_DIM CC = ACCOUNT
    *RENAME_DIM CC= PLANT
    *WHEN CATEGORY
    *IS "AOP"
    *REC(CC=CC.RPT_A,CC=CC.PLANT,CATEGORY=AOP)
    *ENDWHEN
    *COMMIT

  • How to Delete the dimension from the cube ?

    Hi ,
how to Delete the dimension from the cube ?
i have added the new dimension by assiging one characteristic to that dimension .
now i  want to delete it ,
but system saying that   Dimension ZXXX  contains InfoObjects; deletion not possible .
how to delete it ? any help .
    Thanks

Make sure you donot have any data in cube. If you have some data in cube, then you will not be able to see Delete option.
Right click on the cube-->Delete data.
Then double click on the cube>Goto Edit mode> select the IO under that Dimension> right click> now you will be able to see the Delete option (provided you have deleted all the date from Cube)
    Then right click on Dimension-->Delete

  • How to get the ID of a dimension member in script logic?

    Hi everybody,
I am working in some logic scripts and I wonder if exists any option to get the current member ID of a dimension in order to concatenate a string using the member referred and an additional set of caracters such as: MEMBER_ID&"_ccccc".
Moreover, I would like to use this ID dimension member in order to filter members of another dimension whose attribute is equal to the ID of the desired member. Is it feasible?
In conclusion, is it possible to get a variable which is referred to a member ID of a dimension, and using it in order to filtering other dimensions?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
You ask if it is possible compare a dimension id with a property value.. yes it is posible , for doing that you will have to do something like this,
    *FOR %ACC1%=ThisA,ThisB,ThisC
          *WHEN DIMENSION.PROPERTY=%ACC1%
                  *REC(............)
           *ENDWHEN
    *NEXT
if you want to concatenate using a filter theres a posibility, like this example using the time dimension.
    *xdim_memberset time=%year%.jan -
    >2011.jan
    hope it helps

  • Possible to limit dimensions and measures when creating presentations?

We are trying to use OLAP/BI Beans to add BI functionality to our next-generation data warehouse application. This application has its own security framework, with the ability to define permissions/privileges for objects. We need to integrate BI Beans/OLAP with this security framework.
One of the things we need to do is control which OLAP objects (like dimensions and measures) are available to a given user in the Items tab when creating a presentation. For example, user A might see dimensions Alpha, Bravo and measure Charlie, while user B might see dimensions Delta, Echo and measure Foxtrot.
We need to be able to apply these dimension/measure restrictions without using different Oracle users, with each having access only to their own OLAP objects. Our data warehousing application does not use Oracle and Oracle users to control security; it has its own internal frameworks for privileges/permissions. We therefore need to find a way to restrict access to OLAP objects in some programmatic way.
Here's an example of how this might work:
    - I am a clinical analyst. I sign on to the data warehouse application. The data warehouse knows that as a clinical analyst, I have access to a certain list of objects and functionality across the application. One of the apps I have privilege to is the BI Bean Presentation Creation Application, so I click the menu to bring this up. I can now create BI presentations, but since I am a clinical analyst my list of available dimensions and measures do not contain any of the G/L, payroll or other financial OLAP objects.
    - If I signed onto the data warehousing application as a different user, one that has a financial analyst role, I might see a different set of OLAP objects when I run the presentation application application.
So what we need is some API way to specify which dimensions and measures are available to a given user when they launch the presentation wizard. I've been digging through the BI Beans help and javadoc and have found a few things, but they aren't what I need.
    Here's what I found:
    - setItemSearchPath: this allows you to specify which folders are to be displayed. We want control at the OLAP object level, not at the folder level, so this doesn't work for us
    - setVisibleDimensions: this controls which dimensions are available in the Dimensions tab, not which dimensions can be selected in the Items tab. Doesn't work for us
    - setDimensionContext/setMeasureContext: These might work for us but I haven't been able to get them to retrieve anything yet. It also seems to me that these might set which dimensions/members are initially selected in the Items tab, not the list of dims/measures that are available for selection.
Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    s.l.

Reply from one of our developers:
The get/setMeasureContext and get/setDimensionContext methods are currently only used by the Thick CalcBuilder (in a few limited scenarios) and cannot be used "to scope the dimensions and measures listed in Query and Calc builder based on user access rights".
The scoping of dimensions and measures based on user access rights should be performed at the MetadataManager/Database level.
This may change going forward as the real issue here is the static nature of the metadata and a general issue with the GRANT option within the database. So from the database perspective it is not possible to grant select priviledges on a single column of a table.
The metadata issue is more complex as the OLAP API reads the metadata only once on startup of a session. The list of available measures is based on the GRANT priviledge, so for relational OLAP this limits the data scoping capabilities. In 10g, the metadata for AW OLAP becomes more dynamic and contained and read directly from the AW. Therefore, with an AW OLAP implementation with 10g it could be possible to scope boht dimensions and measures quickly and easily.
    Hope this helps

  • Query time affected when using dimensions that are at a lower grain

    Hi all,
I have a product dimension that has one hierarchy and 7 levels: All Product -> Category -> BU -> Class -> Department -> SubDept -> Item. The lowest level has about 8 million members. The Department level has about 1500 members
Some of my Cubes are actually mapped to fact tables where the grain is at Department level. So I've ensured that in the Cube Mappings Editor, the Department Id of the fact table is mapped to the Department level of the Product Dimension, and I can actually see in the Cube's Aggmap, it is using LOAD_STATUS to limit the Product dimension to the Department level members for the aggregation.
Querying the Cube using SQL brings back the correct result across different level combination, however the query constantly takes about 2 - 3 mins to complete.
As a test, I've built another dimension that goes down to the Department level only, and issue the same query against the Cube. The difference is significant as the query takes roughly less than 1 second to complete, and returns exactly the same result.
Any idea? I am using AWM 11.2.0.1.0A
    Thanks

The stats you posted are puzzling. Usually the sum of loop and fetch time is close to the total time, but there is a big missing chunk of time in your case. It is clearly related to the calculated measures, since removing them solves the problem.
The most common problem with calculated measures is that they can cause the cube to loop densely (i.e. all logical member combinations) instead of sparsely (i.e. only the member combinations that have data). But I don't think this is the problem in your case since the difference between rows_read and rows_returned is small
    ROWS_READ 212ROWS_RETURNED 185
    NULLTRACK_SUPPRESSED 27>
If dense looping has happened then the rows_read is often orders of magnitude greater than rows_returned. You can see the looping strategy by running
select value || ' : ' || details as loop from cube_operations_log where name = 'LOOP_OPTIMIZED'Here is an example of the output for a good (sparse) loop.
    LOOP
ON : LOOP AGGMAP(PRICE_COST_CUBE_SOLVE_AGGMAP PRICE_COST_CUBE_PRT_TEMPLATE)Here is the output if I add a year to date calc to the cube.
    LOOP
    ON : LOOP UNION(AGGMAP(PRICE_COST_CUBE_SOLVE_AGGMAP PRICE_COST_CUBE_PRT_TEMPLATE
) AGGMAP(DENSE(TIME) PRICE_COST_CUBE_SOLVE_AGGMAP PRICE_COST_CUBE_PRT_TEMPLATE))Note that TIME is now looped densely, but the code is still trying to loop the other dimensions sparsely. Finally, here is the loop if I add a random olap dml calculation to the cube.
    LOOP
DISABLED :There is now no optimized looping and the cube will be looped densely.
So it may be worth checking the loop descriptor for your fast and slow cases, but my best guess at the moment is that the performance gap has something to do with your specific calculations. If I were you I would add them back one at a time to see if you can find a particular measure, or type of measure, that is causing the slowdown.

  • SSRS Expression Current month in a Fiscal calendar dimension from a SSAS cube

How to create an expression for a default SSRS parameter to a SSAS cube when using i Fiscal Year calendar - and where I want to show current Calendar month and year (for example February 2014)
This is an example of my Time dimension for February 2014:
    [Time].[FiscalYMD].[Fiscal_Year].&[2013].&[10]
The fiscal calendar goes from May - May - which means that April 2014
    would look like this:
    [Time].[FiscalYMD].[Fiscal_Year].&[2013].&[12]
and May 2014 would look like this:
    [Time].[FiscalYMD].[Fiscal_Year].&[2014].&[01]
    Please advise

    Hi HCMJ,
To represent the fiscal calendar, you shift the current date by 4 months back. Then you can do:
    ="[Time].[FiscalYMD].[Fiscal_Year].&[" & Year( DateAdd( "m", -4, Today() ) ) & "].&[" & Month( DateAdd( "m", -4, Today() ) ) & "]"
It just gets the year and month of '4 months ago'. I have not tested it, but I guess it should work.

  • Error while creating a new Dimension/Model in BPC 10.0 NW

    Hello Experts,
I am using BPC 10.0 NW system.
When I try to create new Dimensions or Models I get the following Error Message.
"Error in Admin module or a component used by Admin module.
Failed to create SAP NetWeaver BI InfoObject for dimension."
I am assigned to all the needed task profiles to create Dimensions and Models.
Please assist me to resolve this issue.

    Thanks Roberto.
The error was coming because while creating the user id "SAP_ALL" Profile was not assigned. So I was not able to create Dimensions and models.
    Now the issue is solved.
