Diradmin Password Failures

Since 10.5.x, the diradmin user has been wonky. In WGM it sometimes fails to allow me to login. Logging in, it turns out, is quite useful. I like being able to edit all the nice accounts on my system.
Now that I'm running 10.6.3, the diradmin user is unable to authenticate using WGM at all. I'm sure I've got the password right. It just refuses to cooperate. Here are the methods for reset I've tried thus far:
passwd - No success.
mkpassdb - This slot-ID nonsense didn't help at all. Altho I did notice that the slot-ID was almost entirely a bunch of zeros.
dscl - Well, I would try this, but I'm unclear what the complete path is for the diradmin user so that I can actually use this.
Of course, it could be that it's not a password problem at all. Open Directory has the following checkboxes checked in its settings:
-Enable authenticated directory binding
-Disable clear text passwords
-Encrypt all packets
There something I'm missing here?

.Mac multiple accounts password failures?

I have been looking for help on a password trouble I experienced starting Wednesday night.
I have a new .Mac account for my university teaching in addition to my personal .Mac account. Following methods in this forum, I have been using iWebSites to manage multiple sites on both .Mac accounts, using the .Mac Preference Panel trick, switching from one account to another when needed.
After I used Backup Wednesday evening of all my iWeb sites to my personal .Mac account, I cannot switch back to my university .Mac account.
It is password failure.
In addition, when I bought the new account last week, I deliberately entered a false day and month of birth. I usually just use Jan. 1 for that kind of thing, but not always. The password help for .Mac accounts requires either access to the email account in question OR a "secret question" and answer, which I know, but only if you authenicate the day and month of birth in the account. I cannot remember the phony day and month I entered last week!
So I am slightly hosed.
I have tried most of the tactics in the earlier thread,

Also, I have a trouble report through the .Mac support site, but have not talked directly to a human being about it.
Advice welcome.

I used an alternate route to
(a) speak to a person at Apple
(b) about .Mac account re-set.
I went through the customer service branch on the 800 MY APPLE line, and then selected help with a previous purchase. This got me to a person. Then I used my invoice info to autheticate my request, and they pushed my help request over to the .Mac Help Guy through their internal network. Bingo.
One of the other Apple phone line people said that the .Mac Help Guy really is one guy running four computers! I do not want to believe that but who knows!

Reset diradmin password on server lion

Dear All,
I forgot my (diradmin) password in server lion 10.7.8. When try the folloing command to reset the password, it is still the same
mkpassdb -dump (I get the slot-ID and use it in the folloing command)
sudo mkpassdb -setpassword [slot-ID] Then I a message to type new password: I type a new password
The password doesnt change.
I googled it alot but I couldn't find any good solution.
I appreciate if any one can help me please.

Hi, Use the below code to reset 42728298 Or generate one from the below link http://bios-pw.org/ 1. Use the unlock code you generated to enter the BIOS
2. Disable all passwords that are enabled in the BIOS's security menu.
3. If asked for current password - type the unlock code
4. For new password, just press ENTER key
5. Repeat the same for verify password column.

Can you have multiple signon password failure limits on a same E-Bussiness?

Hi gentlemen,
I'm not the DBA of the company that I work for, but what I'm having is a problem that he's not helping me to solve. Another thing, I'm workin in an Oracle 12i E-Bussiness Suite.
The thing is that the users of multiple plants of a same holding are entering entering their information thru the same site of the Oracle E-Business Suite, because of the configuration of this site the profiles of the users have a SIGNON_PASSWORD_FAILURE_LIMIT of 5. This limit is fine with us if we are speaking of management users, but when we speak of users that work on the plant and are reporting to the ERP is another thing, they must be connected constantly to the Database.
The problem is that by the decision of the DBA and the Headquarters plenty of the operators that work on a same shift and equal machines share the same user/password on the system, therefore if any of them failes at least five times the password all of the other operators get locked to. This is becoming annoying for us in the plant because we are loosing time, information and efficiency. The fact is that most of the operators don't have full knowledge of the way a computer works, so we can't force on to them a politic of a maximum number of failures, we are trainning them and trying to change their culture but this is not a that comes around in the short term.
The other problem it's that putting the SIGNON_PASSWORD_FAILURE_LIMIT to 0 or unlimited is a high security risk and it would apply to all the users of the site.
So my question goes to the following: Is there a way in an E-Bussiness Site to have some users having a limit and others that don't? Can I create two sign on profiles, one with a limit of 5 and the other with a limit of 0, and I just assign some of the users to the first and some to the later? How would I do that? or is it true (as the DBA says) that since I'm working on a Site then I just have to work with one limit for all and I can't do any variations because it always will prevail the SIGNON_PASSWORD_FAILURE_LIMIT and I just can declare one for the hole site? Can I declare a SIGNON_PASSWORD_FAILURE_LIMIT of 0 but thru other privilege, responsability or user specification can I limit the number of failures for a group of users? Is the solution the creation of individual or specific users for each operator, so if one of them failes then the others could work without a problem?

You can run multiple instances of IDM with out a problem. Just point them at the same repository and resources etc.. You also have the ability to restrict certain types of processing to specific servers if you need to as well.

Restore encrypted Time Machine backup: password failure

I upgraded my mid 09 MBP with an SDD and created a Fusion Drive maintaining my HDD in the optical bay. After rebooting and wanting to restore from a Time Machine Backup, I'm prompted with a password request of the disk image, being the password I used to encrypt the TM when creating it.
No matter how I enter the password, it says it's not correct and I can't proceed.
Finally I created in a fresh setup of Mavericks. Once I'm in my Mac, When going to Time Machine, I see my Time Capsule drive on the network, and entering the encryption password, I can indeed access my Sparse Bundle.
I have to say that my password contains a space at the end of the password (it slipped in by copying the password by accident) and I think it might be the reason it's not accepting it as the valid password when in recovery/setup mode.. Either way, I've tried the password with and without the space so...
In Disk Utility, I've had the disk listed but the change password feature is disabled..
I've looked thru different forums, but no luck so far.
Anyone who has had the same issue or has a clue on how to either change the encryption password or how to install the full backup I have in my sparse bundle, it would be highly appreciated!

CMC Admin Change Password failure

Hi,
Login into CMC for Administrator BOXI3.1 is no longer possible. The Administrator was given 'User must change password at next logon'.
The logon for an Administrator in a new session is ok. But password change in the subsequent screen fails with msg "You do not have permission to perform the requested action. Please contact the system administrator for details. Please re-enter your password."
There is only one Administrator in BOXI3.1. Please suggest a solution if any. Is there any reset password script on the command prompt?

Forgot password failure

Please help
I keep getting this error with the forgot password page, I've rebuilt the included trying to fix this but no luck. The page sends the email it just fails the redirect.
"Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at ........./includes/common/KT_functions.inc.php on line 464"

 The forgot_password file was generated by ADTB, I didn't edit it at all, I took the code into WORD and looked for spaces be did not see any.
 
 The error comes up on the forgot_password page so I assume it's not completing this page and not a problem with the re-direct.

Admin password failure

Don't know whether anyone has come across this but...
This morning I restarted our RAID server as there seemed to be a problem with access. When I attempted to log in as admin, the password I have been using since it was set up suddenly wouldn't work. No one's been near the machine, nothing's changed, but all of sudden the password just won't work. I can get in to the HD itself but not to the server part which means I can't do any back ups or any admin tasks or housekeeping.
Can anyone help me out here?

Are you refering to accessing the xRAID through the RAID Admin utiltiy? You could thy using the default monitoring password "public" or the default management password "private".

Admin (501) Account Password Failure

Why would this happen all of a sudden overnight after a logout? I have tried the following to correct the problem:
•Used a new keyboard in case there was a hardware problem that made "a" come in as something else.
•Logged in as another user with admin privileges and changed admin's password to a new one.
Neither has worked. Why would it change overnight? As well, what is strange, is that I can log in as admin from a remote computer and everything is fine. Any ideas?

Try using the instructions in this article to restore the backup copy of the NetInfo database. If you cannot restore a backup copy, reset the database and then recreate the accounts with their original numeric UIDs; if you haven't manually changed any of them, this can be done by recreating them in the same order they were initially created.

Reinstall OSX and Password failure`

OK... I ran into a prublem with the Mac, and I am trying
to give her new life by reinstalling OSX after tech supports suggestion. I Held the C key and started from the DVD thus attempting to replace the OS... the computer is not recognizing my password. It appears as if the OS loaded BUT I can only log in as a Test User. It is not recognizing my Password.
If the computer is not recognizing my password, after the OS install what can I do??? Should I try to erase the entire HD and reinstall again???

Yes if the only thing you can get is a test user account and cannot log into the admin account.
Reboot with the DVD and hold down the "C" key.
Do an erase & install.

That is right. To be able to restore again from a backup you have to restore your iPod to factory defaults/new iPod. The encrypted backup is a good security feature.

How do I fix iCal password failure when upgrading to iCloud on Macbook Pro?

I upgraded from MobileMe to iCloud successfully on my Mac mail and address book, but iCal will not authenticate. It will not accept my userid and password. I upgrade to the latest Mac OS. iCal migrated successfully on my iPhone and iPad, so I cannot understand why it fails on my Mac. Does anyone have an answer?

Go to settings>icloud>storage and back up>back up
after that preform a restore by going to
general>reset>erase all content and settings
this will delete everything except the enabled stuff on icloud.
You can view whats enabled by going to icloud in settings.

Password failure to rest---how do I change?

All worked as predicted. Went to share via email and was prompted to enter my password. I know I mistyped the item.
I went to the preferences to update but still get an error message to the effect that the password to the server is not valid.
It is an AT&T smpt account and I can send and receive email via outlook 2010 so I am confident the password that i need is valid
Wondering if I should ditch the plist file or is there another place to look?

Were you trying to use your ATT account to send the photos or use iPhoto and its templates to do so?
As a first quick and dirty fix delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Password failure after connecting with Desktop software

I recently installed the BB desktopsoftware on my MacBook Air and today tried to sync my BB.
My BB is password protected (4 digits) and the Air is also password protected.
Problem is; the desktop software started after connecting with the BB, a password prompt came up and I typed the device password --> wrong password message!!
What did I do wrong?
Should I typ the MacBook password?
Please help !!
I stand to lose a lot of information, as this is my first back-up/sync.
