Direct access to a file in IFS from Portal using SSO

Hi,
we need to be able to access a file in IFS directly from a link in Portal using SSO.
I take it is possible. Has anybody done it? Any tips?
thanks,
Inga

Hi,
If u want to increase the speed of reading then u can try this.
If each line of the file is almost the same length then u can fix a particular size for each record.
For example each record will occupy 50 bytes. If u want to access the 10th record u can just use skip method to skip 450 bytes and read 50 bytes from that location.
In this method there will be wastage of space, but memory consumed when running the app will be less since u dont store full content of the file in memory(vector)

  • Call RFC from EJB using SSO

    Can anyone point me in the right direction on the best practice for calling an RFC using SSO from an EJB?
    When using the local interface for the EJB, the only solution I see is to pass the authenticated IUser instance from the portal component to the EJB business method through the method signature.
    I am guessing that there is a better way to get access to an authenticated user in the EJB container.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Actually I was able to solve the problem last night. To get SSO to work in my local EJBs I created an RFC destination in the destination service using the visual administrator. I then used the destination service at runtime to pull the system definition from the J2EE system definitions store instead of the portal system landscape definitions and my connection object was created as expected.
    Here is the code to create the connection in my EJB business method:
    //get the user
    IUser user = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByUniqueName(this.myContext.getCallerPrincipal().getName());
    // get the destination service
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sapportals.portal.prt.registry.PortalRegistryFactory");
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext(env);
    IDestinationsService destinationsService =
         (IDestinationsService) context.lookup(IDestinationsService.SERVICE_JNDI_NAME);
    // define a destination filter to restrict to the RFC defined destinations
    DestinationFilter destinationFilter1 =
         new DestinationFilter(DestinationFilter.SOURCE_J2EE_DESTINATION_SERVICE, DestinationFilter.TYPE_SAP);
    // get a user specific connection
    IConnection connection = destinationsService.getConnection(user, "ECC", destinationFilter1);

  • How to access BW RFC FM as web service from Enterprise portal using SSO

    We have developed a custom remote function module in our BW system. We are accessing this function module as a webservice from a java class we have written. This java class access the BW webservice and formats the output. We created a webservice on top of this java class and deployed on the Enterprise Portal. SSO is setup between EP and BW systems. So when i make call to the BW RFC webservice, i would like to make use of SSO setup between EP and BW instead of hardcoding the user id and password while calling the webservice. Please advise on how to achive this.
    Thanks for the help.

  • How to fetch published data from portal using ABAP

    Hello,
    I have a file published in the portal (with broadcaster). Now I want to use this file in an ABAP program. I can't call the web address directly because my program can't handle the Portal authentication. So I have two questions:
    - is there any way to call Portal-websites which require authentication from ABAP?
    or
    - how can I directly get access to the file without detour over the Portal (where is the place in file system).
    Thank you very much!

    Hello Adrian,
    Thank you very much for your reply.

    What do you mean with "mapped drive" - <a href="http://http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/42/e915d951f23ee0e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm">this</a>? I guess I could choose this drive in broadcaster at "export document in any folder" (don't know exactly English label because my system is in German language...)?

    I need to get the image of a BW-chart in ABAP because I want to use it in SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe (I have an ABAP program to fetch my data and create the form). I could create my own chart of the data with the Internet Graphics Service but this would be a lot of work. You can create this charts very easily using the Chart Designer which i.e. is included in the Web Application Designer. If you create a Web Site containing a chart you can access this via browser and you have the chart as an image (created from current data). I tried simply to call this website with ABAP but I can not "log in" and so I have no access to this page. Because of this I had the idea to use the broadcaster to automatically publish this Web Application when my data were updated. If I use MHTML my chart-image is saved separately. This just would work for me. And now I want to get this image as a binary with ABAP.
    I hope you understand my problem.

  • Web Dynpro Java UI Customization from Portal Using CTRL+Right Click in Prev

    Hi Team,
    I am able to hide some Web Dynpro UI elements from Portal Content Administration >> Web Dynpro iView >> Preview and by Pressing CTRL+RIGHT CLICK.
    Here I need to understand the concept like how things work in this case. If we hide some UI in Web Dynpro Java iView customization will there not be any RFC/BAPI calls associated with that particular UI
    For Example: Web Dynpro iView is made up of CompA and CompB and I am going to hide the UI associated with CompA. When I invoke the application will there not be any activity like invoking CompA calling associated RFC/BAPI etc related to CompA
    Please help me in understand the concepts and performance implications on this.
    Regards
    Sudhir

    Hi Sudhir
    You are quite right to raise this concern
    If you start hiding elements you may find a change to functionality
    For example - in ESS - if you hide a field that is set to mandatory in the back-end ECC when the user
    goes to edit the screen they will not see the field and not maintain the field but they will get an error
    "fill in all required fields" - which will completely confuse them as they will have filled in all displayed fields
    Also if you hide one field in ESS that is required to populate another field this too many causes inconsistencies or errors
    Ideal UI elements to hide are those that have been set to unsued (in the case of ESS in the back-end) and have no dependancies to other fields - however there is no complete list - you must test each scenario to your satisfaction
    Best wishes

  • I burnt a dvd from a file I exported from quicktime using the share with apple and pc option.  It was burnt directly from the finder. The dvd works perfectly on my mac, and also runs in my windows, but the sound in my windows pc is stammered.

    This is file I created in SnapzPro (which was saved as a Quicktime mov - Animation) of a Powerpoint Presentation.

    Jon, how do I re-compress the Snapz data for dvd playback?
    That depends on your specific work flow strategy. I normally perform the processing in two stages if editing is involved or in a single stage if I don't plan to trim, title, add a narration track, add special effects, and/or add filters to the Snapz Pro X captured screen data.
    In the two-stage process you export the captured data to an intermediate low-compression, high-quality fomat. (This can be the default settings for Snaps Pro X or a more modern editing specific format like ProRes 422/Linear PCM depending on the codec components for which your system is configured and your personal editing preferences.) The Snapz Pro X intermediate file is then edited in the application of your choice and the results are re-compressed to your final target compression format.
    In any case, whether you are re-compressing the data using QT 7 Pro, iMovie, GarageBand, MPEG Streamclip, Snapz Pro X, or similar third-party app that accesses the built-in OS X QT routines, the export process is essentially the same. Whether you use a "Movie to MPEG-4" or "Movie to QT Movie" export, you must export to a data rate limited, multi-pass H.264/AAC compression combination to take advantage of the "Optimize of CD/DVD" option. Specific data rate limits depend on the playback dimensions of the file you are creating, the minimum level of quality you will accept, and the playback speed of the hardware to be used. (I normally target 4X-8X settings for SD content but if you know the recipient has a higher rated optical drive and your content is HD, then you can use higher encode settings for improved quality.)
    I captured the slideshow again in Snapz, and saved it as H264/AAC. Is this good enough?
    If you did not specifically use the "Optimize for..." feature, then the file is automatically targeted for "Computer" playback which assumes playback is from an hard drive which has greater bandwidth/faster throughput than an optical media player. If the target display dimensions are resonably small, the the contextual nature of the H.264 video encoder may or may not be within the playback limitations of an optical drive usually depending on the encode matrix dimensions, graphic complexity of the source data, overall brightness of the scenes, and limitations you may have place on the target file—i.e., the larger the encoding dimensions, the faster the data date and the less likely the file will be compatible with optical drive playback without having to constantly interrupt playback to cache/rebuffer additional data. However, you can always tell the recipient that if this happens, he or she should simply copy the movie file from the CD/DVD to their hard drive for playback.
    What now? Do I open it in Quicktime and use the "share for mac and pc", then right-click on it in the finder and "burn to disc?"
    What you do next depends on how you plan to burn the file. The steps explained above allows you to create a file that is compatible with playback from an optical drive in a QT Player app but is not authored for playback from a commercial DVD Player. Your next step is to burn that file to an optical disc that can be read by your recipient's computer. I my case, I normally burn the disc using a hybrid (HFS Plus/ISO 9660) format which supports HFS Plus, ISO-9660, Rock Ridge, and Joliet with Rock Ridge file systems. How you do this is up to you. You can, for instance, use a third-party app like Toast or Dragon Burn to create a data disc; create/burn an image file with your Disk Utility app (this is a good option if you plan to burn several discs now and/or in the future); create a named "Burn" folder, drop the file to it, and press the burn button; or simply insert a blank optical media disc into you optical drive, change the default disc name to whatever you want, drop your file to the blank media's Finder window, and press the "Burn" button. (NOTE: Burn options may differ depending on the software installed on your system and/or the version of OS X under which you may be operating.)
    Dont see any specs re playback from an optical disc drive? The slideshow is only 3 min long, and I want to avoid turning it into a video DVD using iDVD, iMovie etc, as the quality of the pictures and type degrades badly. Thanks for the help. Been struggling with this for weeks.
    As noted above, this is an encode setting that only becomes active when you are targeting your H.264/AAC encode for multi-pass/data rate limited compression. When active, the "Optimize for..." pop-up allows you to select "computer" (targets playback from a hard drive), "CD/DVD" (targets playback from optical media), or "Streaming" (targets playback from a realtime streaming server) options. This option prevents data rate excursions from exceeding limits normally associated with each of the named types of playback. This option has nothing to do with the file system used to burn the media disc which determines which platforms/OS can read the disc and the file it contains.

  • Can I migrate files to Mac from PC using iCloud?

    We have just got an iMac and I have been trying to migrate files etc. from our old PC using Migration Assistant, but to no avail. PC says Mac is trying to connect, Mac says it has found PC but that is as far as I can get! Has anyone any suggestion? I am not at all used to Mac, having had PCs for the last 18 years, but I use iPad and iPhone as does my husband, and so we wanted to treat ourselves, expecting we would be able to link up easily with these items. I'm sure it will be, if I ever manage to get our files transferred! Our son suggested it might be possible to use iCloud but I have seen nothing to suggest that - would it be possible?
    Please can anyone advise?

    I don't think using iCloud would work because there is no storage there expect for Mac files. If you can't get Migration Assistant to work, you can copy the files to an external dive and then to the Mac,

  • Invalid File after Downloading from Database using JSP/JDev 10.1.2

    Hi, i got a problem when i download a file from my blobColumn in database.
    Well, actually i got no problem in reading the file out of database, but when i download this file, there are 3 more bytes then in the original one in Database...
    Here's my java-code in the jsp-page i used as "save as" field:
    Hashtable ht = Dokument.createDOK(request);
    String dateiname = (String)ht.get("Dateiname");
    byte[] fileBytes = (byte[])ht.get("Dokument");
    ByteArrayOutputStream ba = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    ba.write(fileBytes);
    // RESPONSE
    response.setContentType("application/octet-stream");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename=\"" + dateiname + "\"");
    // DOWNLOAD
    OutputStream outs = response.getOutputStream();
    ba.writeTo(outs);
    outs.flush();
    outs.close();
    }catch(Exception ex){
    ex.printStackTrace();
    for testing i used a simple text file with 28bytes:
    begin----
    Test Zeile 1.
    Test Zeile 2.
    end-------
    after downloading this file it looks like:
    begin----
    Test Zeile 1.
    Test Zeile 2.
    end-------
    There are 3 bytes 0A(hex) at the beginning...
    I dont know why.
    after closing "outs" i made system.out for checking the amount of bytes in "fileBytes"-Array, and it was correct, just the 28 bytes like in the file from the Database.
    But i actually dont get, why there are 3 more bytes at the beginning after downloading it.
    The main problem is, some other files like word or excel documents cannt be opened, because of this 3 bytes at the beginning, and they seem to be invalid.
    Would be glad if someone can help me, got really stuck and have no idea any more.
    Thanks
    Sebastian

    Dont someone has a solution, or got a similar problem ?
    Thought about it could be a bug in the basic java classes of JDev 10.1.2
    but i dont really know...
    Have no idea left.

    The following is from the jwsdp-1.1 tutorial at http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.1/tutorial/doc/
    The tutorial for 1.2 is not available yet.
    Seems you need to modify your config.xml to have a <service> element.
    The wscompile tool reads the configuration file (config.xml), which contains information that describes the web service. The basic structure of config.xml follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <configuration
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config">
    <service> or <wsdl> or <modelfile>
    </configuration>
    The <configuration> element may contain exactly one <service>, <wsdl>, or <modelfile> element.
    The <service> Element
    If you specify this element, wscompile reads the RMI interface that describes the service and generates a WSDL file. In the <interface> subelement, the name attribute specifies the service's RMI interface, and the servantName attribute specifies the class that implements the interface. For example:
    <service name="CollectionIF_Service"
    targetNamespace="http://echoservice.org/wsdl"
    typeNamespace="http://echoservice.org/types"
    packageName="stub_tie_generator_test">
    <interface name="stub_tie_generator_test.CollectionIF"
    servantName="stub_tie_generator_test.CollectionImpl"/>
    </service>
    The <wsdl> Element
    If you specify this element, wscompile reads the service's WSDL file and generates the service's RMI interface. The location attribute specifies the URL of the WSDL file, and the packageName attribute specifies the package of the classes generated by wscompile. For example:
    <wsdl
    location="http://tempuri.org/sample.wsdl"
    packageName="org.tempuri.sample" />

    I have found that installing the OS for your device alleviates this problem, but if you have a microSD card in your BlackBerry it is easier to just open up the My Computer icon and just drag and drop into the appropriate folders.
