Disable auto-update for SYSTEM on windows

I wrote an AIR app that is called via a php 'exec' command for my employer. This is part of an automated system where there is no user interaction. The problem is that whenever the application is run, every now and then it will open the Adobe AIR Updater, expecting user input to allow the update or cancel.
I downloaded the AIR Settings Manager app, and it does a great job of disabling this auto-update, but ONLY for the user running the app. Is there any way to disable the auto-updates for SYSTEM?

Hi Ozzy,
Setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\AIR\UpdateDisabled to 1 will disable runtime updates for ALL users.  Adding the file%APPDATA%\Adobe\AIR\updateDisabled will disable updates on a PER user basis.
Hope this helps,
Chris

  • How to disable auto update for corporate installation

    I've scoured the forums for this information and was not successful locating a viable answer.
    We need to update 1500 corporate clients to the latest version of QT, but we need the auto update feature turned off when the upgrade is complete. We do this for two reasons: 1) Users do not have permissions to run the installer, so even if they wanted to run the update they would be unsuccessful, and 2) we need to test any updates before they are distributed to the general population.
    For past versions we created a QTP file with the auto update turned off, then placed it into the C:\documents and settings\all users\application date\apple computer\quicktime folder. This method is no longer successful.
    Changing the settings for each individual user is not an option, we need a method that will change the setting for any past, current, or future user on all of our computers.
    Any guidance is appreciated.

    Trying to figure out the same thing. I came across the following two links but I don't think they will disable the updates to community help itself. So from what I can gather you need to do the following:
    Turn off autoupdates to AIR (See below)
    Turn off updates to Community Help (No clue how to do this)
    Install Local content (See below)

  • Disable auto-updates/Adobe Application Manager

    there is no forum for this - I use Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 non-CC on macbook pro running 10.8.5 or 10.9.2. I would like to not have AAM search for updates in the background, but initiate the **search** for updates manually. The reason is that I live a bit off the grid and pay quite a lot per minute, and AAM kept the internet connection open the whole night, even though the browser said it was closed.
    I only found instructions for CS5:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/disable-auto-updates-application-manager.html
    does this work for CS6 the same way? I am by no means a system admin but I can replace this AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file. (and keep the original else where)
    thanks.
    edit: why on earth does adobe insist on displaying my real name in a public forum, when it even asks me to make a screen name first. There is no forum for this either, I guess.

    ... adobe insist on displaying my real name in a public forum...
    that is gone, thanks.

  • How to Disable "Auto Align" in [System Pref.] - [Display] - [Arrangement]

    Does anyone know How to Disable "Auto Align" in [System Preferences] -> [Display] -> [Arrangement]?
    It always want to align the two screens from the top when they are lined up close together and I need them to be aligned from the bottom. Since the resolution heights are so close together (1080 & 1050) it does not allow one to align side by side from the bottom as it prioritizes top alignment.
    I guess I'm looking for a script to disable this feature.

    Anyone got any ideas?

  • Disabling auto-update doesn't work

    I need to stop at Firefox 14 for now, and need to prevent auto-updates.
    In Firefox 14.0.1 when I disable auto-update by setting 'never check for updates', and/or use about:config to clear 'app.update.url', both settings are ignored. When I close and re-open Firefox, auto-update is again enabled, and the update URL is again set.
    Recommendations?

    As it turns out, it's not a matter of 'preferences not being saved'.
    It's Firefox spontaneously changing my preferences at start-time.
    I've been testing; here's what i discover.
    1. I install FF14, start it the first time, and disable auto-update (via Tools/Options/Advanced)
    At this point - prefs.js in my profile now starts with
    user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
    user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
    2. now I exit FF.
    prefs.js in my profile STILL starts with
    user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
    user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
    3. i restart FF (#1)
    prefs.js in my profile STILL starts with
    user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
    user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
    4. i close FF
    prefs.js in my profile STILL starts with
    user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
    user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
    5. I restart FF (#2)
    NOW prefs.js has dropped those 2 initial lines, and starts with user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.addon-........etc
    Firefox is spontaneously changing my prefs.js.
    Before this series of tests I adjusted the prefs.js in all other profiles in this XPSP3 machine to start with
    user_pref("app.update.auto", false);
    user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
    This is obnoxious.
    I expect better from Mozilla.
    Suggestions?

    No, I don't think so; these settings are stored in a different place.
    Some users have reported that AutoUpdateDisable via mms.cfg does no longer work in Flash Player 10.3.  Please check if this failure already occurs in Flash Player 10.2.

  • Disable auto update

    Hi
    I have a couple of databases running on Azure SQL. They all are the Basis Edition.
    I'm experiencing that two of these databases keep being upgraded to Web Edition. When I scale them down to basis edition or even Standard S1 edition, one of them gets auto scaled to Web Edition.
    I don't know why this occours and I would like to have it stopped. I'm not sure as to whether there is a disable auto update functionality at manage.windowsazure.com. Neither am I sure if there is some setting in my ASP.NET Web.Config that will do the trick.
    Help would be appreaciated.

    Hi adksmm,
    Usually, in SQL Azure database platform, we can change service tiers using Azure Management Portal, PowerShell, or T-SQL statement, or REST API . If you want to modify a database via T-SQL statement in SQL
     Azure database, you must be connected to the master database to alter a database. If MAXSIZE is set to a value of 1 GB or 5 GB and EDITION is not specified, the database edition will automatically be set to Web Edition. For more information,
    see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff394109.aspx
    If you choose downgrade to a lower service tier via Azure Management Portal, you need to manually change the edition options, performance level via GUI. In addition, if you can write Azure PowerShell command to
    specify the service tier, the performance level, and the maximum size for the database. However, there is no auto update functionality or option for you disabling them at SQL Azure database platform. For more information about changing
    database service tiers and performance levels, you can revies the following article.

  • Keep getting auto updates for printer which I no longer have.

    I uninstalled my canon inkjet printer.  At least I believe I did - it doesn't come up when I run a search on Finder.  However I keep getting auto updates for it, which I would like to stop getting.  I may be slow but can't figure out how to do this.... thanks.

    Try going to the hard drive level Library/Printers and delete the Canon folder there.

  • How to Disable Auto Updates on Flash Player 10 using mms.cfg

    Hi Friends,
    I am a newbee into this.I am trying to install a customized Adobe Flash  Player 10.2.153.1 in which auto updates are disabled.  I went through the Adobe guidelines and found that it is possible to do the same using a MMS.CFG file. Can anyone tell me how exactly this would look like. I will be extremely thankful if someone can attach a sample of the same.
    One more question...
    When we disable auto updates using mms.cfg file, will this be updated in the Global Settings Manager ?
    Tries from my end till now:
    I tried to create a mms.cfg by editing a txt file and adding "AutoUpdateDisable=0 " and then saving teh same as mms.cfg using UTF-8 encoding. this didnt make any difference in the Global Settings manager.
    Please help me...
    Regards,
    Dilip

  • Do i have to log in to my apple id in order to use "auto updates for apps" in ios 7

    do i have to log in to my apple id in order to use "auto updates for apps" in ios 7

    This same exact thing started happening to me a few days ago.
    Every time I open the iPod app - I'm prompted for User/Password.  I even changed my password, thinking I forgot it, and still - insists that I enter this information.  If i hit OK or Cancel it just keeps asking like a never ending loop.
    Eventually, when I do fill out the info, it will go away until I re-open the iPod app.  This is more of an annoyance than a real issue - but if it's a bug, I hope it gets resolved.
    Any support in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Hmmmm. Looks like I found the solution to my problem. OS X 10.8.2 seems to be Mountain Lion.
    I had been trying to get it to download (though a weak signal on a WiFi router) for a couple of weeks. I finally got it to download tonight, currently installing.
    After it completed the download, it showed the nubers instead of just the name. So, after it installs, I guess I will be able to update my iPhoto.

  • How do I disable the itunes auto-update for all users?

    I need to know if there is a way to disable the auto-update feature for all users that login to a windows XP computer.
    I have disabled it for the account currently logged in as well as copy that user profile to the "default user" profile. However I have about 300 users that do not have admin rights that still get prompted to install updates.
    Is there a way to disable the auto update as the default for all users. So that only I get the auto update notifications?

    Bump -
    No responses in over a week?
    Does no one else run a network where users don't have admin rights?

  • No Auto-Update for To Do list, session message and toast message

    After LC ES Server hardening, we noticed that auto-update is not working for To Do list, session message and new task notification toast message. Before server hardening, all of them are still working fine.

    JGroups is an open source project that allows processes to send messages to one another. LiveCycle data services uses it for its messaging implementation (basically it configures the server to multicast messages to all the listening clients...even in a clustered environment across different LAN/WAN).
    In most cases the default configuration will work fine, the problem is that if you are running a firewall on the server (or your local machine...i.e. windows firewall) the ports that JGroups uses for its communications can be blocked. In a local environment its easy enough to disable windows firewall and bounce your server to get things working.
    In a production environment you need to open the ports that JGroups is using. These settings are in the Global Administration settings (as mentioned by WorkspaceUser above). If you export it and look at the JChannelConnectionProperties you'll see the ports its using and you can set your firewall to allow communication to those ports.
