Disable facebook location services?

I cant seem to find this in IOS8. Its the biggest battery consumer on my phone and posts from just a few months ago say that it will check your location alot even when its not "open" so im looking to set it to only allow when the app is open or to turn it off completely. Anyone have any ideas for me?

Any idea why it would be sucking battery like theres no tomorow? It has higher consumption than home and lock screen which includes the screen power consumption doesnt it?
I havent used it much today as ive been on my pc yet the percentage is still pretty high.
As far as not being in the list, inside facebook app it says its on and even what ive turned location services off on still shows in that list just disabled.

If they disabled services, then they disabled Find My iPhone (if they're smart), so you won't be able to track it and/or wipe it.  Messages won't work either.

  • IOS6 update disabled the option to disable/enable location services

I have updated to iOS6 (from the earlier latest iOS5.x.). I now notice that the option to Disable / Enable Location Sevices (global / application specific) is now not possible post this update to iOS6.
Note, I have already tried the "Rest Network Settings" and "Reset Location & Privacy" neither of which seem to have helped, reboot the iPhone does not help either. please advise if you came across this issue.

Go to settings/general/restrictions then look at location services and make sure it is set to allow changes

  • Facebook location services locked

    Hi All,
For some reason my iPhone 5C stopped allowing location services. When I go to the settings within Facebook, where the choices are "Never", "When using app", or "Always", it is stuck on "Never". Any ideas how to get this to work? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • How do I disable Facebook Message location features in iOS7? All of the information I seem to find on the subject is outdated. Thanks!

Whenever I send a message in Facebook it attaches my location which is a bit creepy, yet all of the information I've found about how to shut this feature off seems to be outdated. How do I disable the location services for the Facebook app in the latest version of iOS?

I've tried looking there but do I disable ALL location services (wouldn't that effect every app?) There doesn't seem to be a specific option to disable Facebook location services specifically.

  • Restrict disabling location services?

Is there a way to restrict the disabling of location services but still allow the adding of apps to the location-enabled list? The reason I ask is that I manage our whole family's iOS devices and would like to allow family members to let apps use their location, but I do not want to allow the disabling of location services in case an iPhone or iPad is stolen and I would like to track it down using the Find My iPhone app.
Similarily, I would like to allow family members to add and remove their accounts from the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" preference pain, but I would like to restrict the removal of the iCloud account that enables the Find My iPhone feature
Is this granular control possible? If not by using the phone's "Settings" app what about with the Mac's iPhone Configuration Utility? Could I create a configuration profile that has this kind of granular control?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

  • Location Services in Reminders - Not Working

I'm having issues with my Location Services for my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.3. Whenever I try and tell Siri a command such as, "Remind me to grab my checkbook when I get home." Siri always responds, "Before I can do that, you'll need to enable Reminders on your iPhone's Location Services."
The problem is that I've enabled the Location Services on Reminders over and over and over again, and yet, anytime I try and get Siri to set up a reminder, it always disables the Location Services behind the scenes and gives the same response, "Before I can do that...".
I can manually input a request with Location Services for Reminders. It's only when I try and use Siri to set up a reminder, that I have any issues.
    Anyone else

Responding to an old thread here, but this is because of the way applications that use location services also use the data from Skyhook...
Skyhook is a service that records the MAC addresses of Cell Base stations/towers and wireless access points.
Google Maps vehicles records the wireless AP data at the same time they get street view images.
There was some controversy over this - but they effectively record the location and the MAC address of any AP they find as they drive round. This gets sent to a massive database at Skyhook and is used to either locate without GPS or enhance/aid the GPS information. It's also why the location is always the road outside!
If your location/MAC relationship has not been mapped by Skyhook, Google or others - then the good news is that you can add it - although it can take a month or two at least - to work. The reason is that it depends which database is being used by Skyhook's clients..
Add your Wireless Access Point (or Wireless Router) here: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php
The main website for Skyhook is here: http://www.skyhookwireless.com
    Hope that helps...!

  • Suddenly Location service not working on iPad. What's up ?

Suddenly location service is not working on new iPad. What's up?

I have a similar issue with my iPad 2 Wi-Fi. At first I couldn’t find a reason of Wi-Fi lost connection (Wi-Fi icon is indicated, but nothing happen).
Then I found out that lost of the connection happens only after any app tries to locate my iPad 2. Anyway location worked only a couple of times.
Now I get a stable Wi-Fi connection after disabling all location services. It is confirmed by doing ping command for 8 hours – all packets were received by iPad 2.
I hope after firmware update this problem vanishes.
    P.S. iPad 2 Wi-Fi 32GB with iOS 4.3.3, router D-Link DIR-615.

  • I have problem in location service

MY ipad mini have problem it cannot determinate  my location although another ipad beside me can determinate easily
    i rest all location services

What model is your iPad? WiFi+Cell or WiFi-only?
If it is WiFi-Only, beware the model does not have a GPS chip and can only determine its location by consulting in a database maintained by Apple the location of the WiFi hotspot it is connecting to. If the hotspot is not registered or if there is no WiFi service, the device is essentially lost and unable to determine where it is.
The WiFi+Cell models come with a localization chip that reads both US GPS and Russian GLONASS signals so it can always find where it is, PROVIDED the geographical area is allowed to sync. The US military, which operate their GPS infrastructure, are known to disable GPS location services in conflict zones so the "enemies" can't benefit. If the Russians do likewise, we don't know.

What do you mean it won't turn off? How exactly are you determining this?
If you believe it is still running simply because the apps shows in the multi-tasking bar, well, that really means nothing.

  • Facebook's location services are off..?!

Ok I just updated my iPhone 4S and all of the sudden Facebook's "location services are turned off". It tells me to fix it in the settings but I can't find anything about locations... HELP PLEASE?!

Go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services. Here you can control if Location Services are turned on or off, and you can control individual apps' ability to use Location Services. You can also enable/disable Find my iPhone. Hope this helps!

    - The iPod uses the location of a nerby or connected router to determine it location based on a database of routers and their location. It appears that the routers near y are not in Appl'es database.  As of yet, nobody here seems to know how to get routers added to the database.
