Disappearing General Category

I have been using a 3.0.9 version of Portal, and have a content area with 10 catagories...for some reason, the ability to add objects to the Shared Objects/General category has gone away. It no longer shows up in the drop down list. I can add a new catagory and name it General2 with a Display name of General to get around it, but that's hokey and ridiculous.

In 309, you have the ability to control what categories, perspective and folder types are visible in a content area. You can do that by editing the content area and select the categories you want to display in the "Objects" tab.
So, for the problem you are seeing, check the objects tab to see if "General" category is visible.

    Updating from the ipod itself is a feature of ios 5 or later.
    You would need to update as always.  Turn on computer, open itunes, connect ipod.
    The first gen ipod will only go to 3.1.3

  • Why a "Database - General" category?

    After my previous wish list - for more effective forums > during posting new questions can this be done?
    This time I want to ask do we really need a "General" category after all these categories, I think this category decreases the efficiency of the posts.
    Like "SQL and PL/SQL" or "Installation" there could be a "Database - Backup&Recovery" and "Database - Performance Tuning" categories but not a "General" one please, lots of people are tired of warning others for the appropriate forum category to post.

    Interesting question. I do agree with the idea behind the question.
    But I do not see it happening - when the typical forum user has a question, they want an answer but they do not want to spend a lot of time looking for the right place to find the answer .... or they would be checking the docs or asking where to find the answer in the docs.
    People can not even be bothered to enter the database - general questions in the 'Database; group of forums. Instead we are seeing database questions dumping in the Feedback forum ... probably because it's the first one.
    Part of the problem is there are too many sub-categories.
    Part of the problem is there are too few people answering in the sub-catgories.
    Databases - Installation was a fairly slow forum. I started answering there exclusively for a while. I note that the number of discussions has increased dramatically since I started responding. (I do not take credit for this, but I think perhaps having one more knowledgeable respondent helped.)
    We may be dealing with the "MacDonald's syndrome" in which "popular and advertised" attracts attention. After all, the popular forums are advertised (show up more often) on OTN and Google.
    So perhaps the answer is simple - start answering in a specific forum and people will be attracted to that forum. Then maybe the 'Database - General' will only attract newbies who get no answers becuase all the seriouus users are elsewhere.
    The other side of the same coin isL when you are a DBA, how much time do you really spend with each of the specialty topics? How many real experts do we have in those? (I know only 1 Workflow specialist outside of Oracle for the Workflow forum, only a smnall handful in the Spatial forum, very few who are truly adept at AQ or Streams ...)

  • HT4623 there is no software update in my general category.  I need to update my ipad, but that function is not available.

    Nowhere on my ipad does it say what operating version I am using. It doesn't give me the software update option in my general settings.  I am baffled.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
    Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

    Hi - I successfully uploaded two ebooks - both mystery/thrillers. I can find them when I search by name but as of yet they do not appear within the mystery catalogue of books. Also will they appear in Breakout Books since they are self published? Thanks

    Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?

  • Content Area - Disappearing Entries

    Having a few wierd things happening while populating a Content Area with Documents.
    1. Even though every file belongs to the same Category "General" when the files are displayed they are grouped (seemingly arbitrarily) in separate sections with the same General category title. I'm not sure how better to explain this. For instance:
    (Folder Name)
    HR Documents
    General (Category)
    Employee Salary Action Form
    Progressive Disipline Form
    Employee Benefits Explanation
    General (Category)
    Arizona Stock Options Plan
    Employee Review Form
    2. The other problem I just ran into is that the files in this folder suddenly disappear. When I add a sub-folder to this folder it does not show up. After poking around the database I found that the files still exist in the database itself as BLOBS but they are not listed in my folder.
    Are these content areas flakey or what?
    Anyone else with the same experiences???

    For number 1, its likely that the items were entered in different regions. When adding an item you get to select which region it goes in. If you select different regions, then the category will show up for each region. You can tailor this behavior by editing the style.
    For number 2, its possible that the sub-folders have not been selected for display. To check this, go to the folder properties of the parent folder and click on the optional tab. The second section shows available and displayed sub-folders.

  • Audible books in own category

    I have lots of audiobooks on my iphone, and they are all sorted under the Audiobooks category except for ones from Audible. They are under a general category called Audible under audiobooks, then sorted from there. How do I get them to be part of the general audiobooks category?

    Hi David,
    When you tap on the Audiobooks tab of the iPod application you should see them arranged by the name of the album. Audible may be putting their name in the album field to keep their books together, but it's been a while since I purchase one so I can't verify that.
    You can set the album names in iTunes by using the the "File > Get Info" menu item. I never thought about using it as a faux category, but that sounds like a neat idea.

  • Pages 09 is installed. But on the received e-mail was not a serielnr for activating pages so i cannot save or print any document.

    I have downloaded Pages 09 on the i-Mac with the Lion version.
    In the e-mail for confirming was mentioned an Ordenr....... and a long nr  of 12 figures......
    After making a document,it was not possible to save or print out.
    I get a sjabloon with the text that I have to activate iWork first.
    Next click gives me the sjabloon  that i have to buy the complete  version iWork!!!!!
    or to fill in the serialnr of Pages mentioned in the sended e-mail from apple store.
    I have tried that long nr (in case that this is the productserialnr....) but no any result.
    Apple-store employees were not able to help me.
    Where can I find the serialnr...as nr in the email was not working.
    We have also tried with apple employee to remove Pages of the computer and empty the  trash
    for complety removig,but....... we still keep the message  that Pages is  INSTALLED.
    So long we have this message we cannot re-downloadin program Pages according the apple employee!!!!
    Apple is not able to solve this problem.
    In mean time I have used my back up and also controlled the e-mail.

    This might be simple but it works well for me.
    1. 
    Right click on the tool bar in IE8 and uncheck adobe PDF to disable.  Click yes when it ask if you are sure.
    2. 
    Open Adobe
    READER located in the start menu.
    3. 
    Click on Edit and then on Preferences.
    4. 
    Select the "General" category.
    5. 
    Click on "Select default PDF handler"
    6. 
    Adobe Reader should be already selected. Change it to reader if it is not.
    7. 
    Click on "Apply" and except changes.
    8. 
    Restart the computer and you are done.
    Now you can open and save PDF's from IE8.  Once you save it, you can right click and "open with" Acrobat if you choose. 
    Be careful to not make Acrobat the default or you have to start over.
    You can still create PDF's from docs, scans, and picture like before.  You might think this is a work around but it really isn't. 
    Some forms that are available on the internet can't be opened by Acrobat for security reasons.

  • I cannot open a document from an earlier version of pages.

    Hope someone has a helpful solution for me.  I am trying to access my resume that I did in an earlier version of Pages.  I tried to open it today and saw an error saying that the document could not be opened.  I have tried researching this and basically have no solution.  I need my resume and don't know what to do. Has anyone else figured out a solution other than blowing up their computer?

    Copy/paste from TextEdit works. The use of Pages v5 has created more problems than user solutions. Make certain you export to Word format as a backup. Pages v5.5.1 will make a huge 500Kb Word document. You will need to open and save it out from either MS Word, or the free LibreOffice to reduce it down to small double-digits in size.
    Sharon, there is a Yosemite community under the general category of MacOS & System Software. Post your Yosemite questions there, and you should get competent answers to your questions. If you are running anti-virus software, state that as it is a known performance and stability decrement for OS X.
    Yosemite is now one revision beyond the base release. Each new iteration of updates to Yosemite will fix bugs, attend to some usability issues, and improve performance. I am running Yosemite on a 2014 MacBook Air with 4GB of memory. It has been flawless — if not overly art-deco for my taste.

    There is no application called "Adobe" - you are either working with Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader. Open up the preferences for the application (Edit>Preferences), then go to the "General" category and modify the settings for "Scale for screen resolution". You will have to restart the application after you do that. Does that fix your problems?

    In the preview editor I am trying to add a space in front of some text. Hitting the spacebar does NOTHING.
    It should be adding a   or at least doing SOMETHING.

    CTRL+SHIFT+SPACEBAR
    or
    Go to your Dreamweaver preferences Edit->Preferences and under the general category check "Allow Multiple Consecutive Spaces"

  • How do I search for sticky notes in a PDF doc?

    Several people (at work) have commented on a 440-page document that I created, using sticky notes to write their comments in. When I first open the document, the sticky notes are all closed. The icon for a closed sticky note is pretty small and not brightly colored, so they're easy to miss when scrolling through hundreds of image-heavy pages. I am hoping that it's possible to search for each occurrence of a sticky note.
    If there is no way to search for the notes, is there a command I can use to open all the notes in the file (in one action) so that they are larger and easier to spot?
    Platform: Windows 8 PC
    Version: Acrobat 8
    If this is not a feature available in Acrobat 8, is it possible to do this in later versions?

    Out the gate you've a problem.
    The Acrobat 8 product family passed into "End of Support" many years ago (well before the release of Windows 8).
    "End of Support" means -- well, just that eh.
    The Acrobat 8 product family is not compatible with Windows 8.1, 8 or 7.
    The Acrobat XI product family is compatible with Windows 8 / 8.1.
    Regarding Comment and Mark Up Annotations:
    With Acrobat 8 Pro use the "Comments List".
    Same wit Acrobat 9 Pro, X Pro and XI Pro.
    May be available with the various versions' "Standard" release.
    The contents of a Comments List can be exported to a PDF report.
    The filter an be used to display specific characteristics / attributes which then become the reports content when you output a report.
    Having "8" the Help PDF file got loaded with the install of "8".
    Use it to review the information provided on the Comments List.

  • Not able to create a universe when using nav. att. 0MATL_TYPE in the query

    Dear experts,
    A few days ago I posted a message in the BO General Category due to this error and I was adviced to install SP19 in BW (3.5). We've allready installed it but the issue is still arising. I am posting this thread now in this category since maybe the other category was too general and this one a little bit more specified.
    The error we are having is the following:
    We are having an issue when trying to create a universe over a BEx query which uses navigational attribute 0MATL_TYPE of 0MATERIAL (0MATERIAL__0MATL_TYPE).
    No matter where do we insert this nav. attribute in the query (lines, columns, free characteristics...) that we are not able to create the universe. We receive a message when trying to create it such as "error without message"
    We have other navigational attributes from several characteristics which are not giving us any problems in universes, just nav attributes 0MATL_TYPE and a Z characteristic (ZMATPR) which is the same as 0MATL_TYPE (it is defined the same way, not related).
    We are working with:
    BW 3.5 - SP19, BEx 3.x
    BOBJ XI 3.0 (without service pack or fix pack)
    Does any one have any clue on what could be the reason for this issue??

    First of all thanks for your help, since we are really concerned about this issue.
    We have been analysing the file you have talked us about. The thing is that a week and a half ago we had to write an OSS message to SAP concerning another issue, and we were recommended to install note 1260004 which involves editing the registry in order to show SOFA logs, and if we have understood correcty, the file you have given us modifies as well the server registry in order to show sofa logs.
    Does the file you have given us includes new information in the SOFA logs, what is the difference between what we have changed with the SAP note and what you have given us?
    Nevertheless, we have retrieved two logs from two executions (having navigational attribute 0MATL_TYPE in the query from which we want to create the universe) in case you could help us to interpret the informations given since we are not able to understand it. (You can seen them below my signature.....haven't find a way to attach files....sorry....)

  • Iphone Configuration Utility gives an error

    Hello Everyone,
    I created a configuration profile for an iPad but everytime I press the "Install" button it gives me an error message "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: Cert"
    It is my irst time I am trying to use this utility and I am sure I am doing something wrong, but what? I left almost everything unchanged on the new configuration profile, so this means that I haven't put anything that requires certification or passwor or something like this.
    The iPad is completely new.

    Well I am sure I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what.
    I unpacked the new iPad 2 3G and I connected it on my computer. Before that I created a new configuration profile and the only thing I changed is the General category. All the others are stayed with the default values and not expanded.
    So, after the iPad connection with my PC, I click on the new device and on the right side of the window I select the "Configuration Profiles" tab. Of course I select the new profile and I press "Install" . Immediately I get the error message "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: Cert" .
