Discoverer 10g, it returns no data

Hi all,
I have a doubt can any one clarifies.
Currently I work migration projects from 4i to 10g discoverer reports (Upgraded 11i to R12). Previously in 4i discoverer reports many views used and data also populated. Same query in discoverer 10g, it returns no data. I can view the data after setting client org id in the toad but can’t view the data in the discoverer reports. Even I tried to register as a function for setting client org id and use in the discoverer reports but result is no rows return. Can any one suggest?

Prasanna

Hi,
Check Metalink Note 732826.1. There are some extra steps need to configure R12 with Discoverer.

  • Discoverer 10g not returning same data every time

    Hi all
Has anyone come across this at all?
I have a client who is reporting that sometimes, not always, when they run a query, the data comes back with wrong ID number. They can then run the query again and it will then give the correct IDs. Sometimes they say they have to run it a couple of times before it pulls the data correctly.
My first thoughts were webcache but they tell me this is happening in Plus.
I have to say that I have not seen this behavior before so if anyone has any insights or has seen this please let me know.
    Best wishes
    Michael

    Hi there,
I would do the following before even start looking at the report.
    - Export both the report [correct and incorrect versions] with Parameter listing and try to replicate the problem in development environment.
    - Check the SQL query behind the report and execute it with the parameter values given.
I know this not the solution/answer you are looking for. I would do this if I am in a similar situation.
Hope this helps you get to the bottom of the problem.
    Best Regards,

  • Discoverer 4i Plus returns no data when using views with db link references

I am using Discoverer 41 Plus to view reports online.
When I create a worksheet based on a view, that only references local tables, everything is OK and Disco plus shows the output OK.
When I create a worksheet based on a view, that references a Database link, Disco plus gives me an "Query caused no data to be returned" error.
Is this to be expected from Discoverer Plus?
    Thanks - Sue.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the default position (and default aggregate) for the EUL folder item? I can see that some of the folders have number type items with default position 'Data Point' and others have these with default position of 'Top or Side'. I'm totally stabbing around in the dark here; looking at EUL folders which exhibit the problem and those which don't.
I've tried changing one field to 'Data Point' and it hasn't helped. Will try changing the join items now I think.
If anyone has any comments, would be v. grateful as I'm looking at dropping folders which have quite a bit of code around them and trying to re-create them exactly, which is a risky and horrible solution.

  • Form 10g not returning any data

    Hi,
I have created a simple data-block based on a view in a seeded Oracle R12 form. When i run the form, I can see all fields on canvas but as blank. Pre-query trigger fires, on-select fires, on-fetch too fires. But Post-query trigger doesn't fire.
View has 2 rows, so as per my understanding Post-query should fire 2 times. But it doesn't.
When i run the same query on view in Pre-query trigger and get the count. It returns me 2.
Am i missing any setup or property on data block.
    Thanks!!
    Harleen

    Harleen,
As you are working on a EBS R12 form, I suggest you post your question in the General EBS Discussion forum. EBS Forms must comply with Oracle Development Standards and there are specific objects that must be included in your form. If you haven't already, you might want to take a look at the Oracle Applications Documentation library. Select your EBS version and then scroll to the Standards section and review the following documents:
    <ul>
    <li>Oracle Applications Developer's Guide
<li>Oracle Applications User Interface Standards for Forms-Based Products
    <li>Oracle Application Framework Personalization Guide

  • Discoverer report returns no data from a certain time

Using Discoverer 10g,a discoverer report which returned data normally last month gets to return no data now.
We have four same environments, and two of them has this problem, two is OK.
And the SQL of the discoverer of the four environments are the same.
We have no any changment of this discoverer and related EUL for more than one year....
How should we investigate into this issue.
For example ,a point we should notice or something...
Could somebody give us a suggestion?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your qiuck reply.
1.empty table that is joined in the query. The four environments has almost the same data,it is not the cause.
2.security issue with the data, maybe the security definitions are different from one environment to another.we are now invesgate into this cause.
and there is a sql of the discoverer's EUL which shows no data in a enviroment(in this enviroment discoverer report gets no data), but in another enviroment data can show.
    the sql is as following.

    Hi,
Assuming your initialization matches your discoverer login, it is pretty weird that you get no data.
I am not sure how you got the SQL but i suggest you trace the session to get the exact SQL ran by the discoverer.
You may find another condition or join that limits your data.
Also another thing that you should try is to initial the session by using all the parameters (including the security group as you have in your discoverer login):
    begin
      fnd_global.APPS_INITIALIZE(user_id =>, resp_id =>, resp_appl_id =>, security_group_id =>);
    end

  • Discoverer workbooks return no data found on preseeded views

We have just upgraded to R12 from 11.0.3. We decided to do a fresh install of Discoverer 10G instead of trying to upgrade our old version of Discoverer. When trying to create a query in the pre-seeded views for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Order Management or Margin analysis, the worksheets all come back no data found. I can retrieve data from the preseeded views for Invnentory, shipping, cost management and purchasing. I have reviewed note 732826.1 and it appears that MOAC is my issue. However, where I am having issues is knowing what is the minimum that I need to set up on MOAC for Discoverer to work correctly. Has anyone done this?

    Hi,
Are you using a seeded or custom responsibility? You need to have the organization system profile set up for the responsibility and the initialization of the session must set the VPD policy context. There are a number of ways of doing setting the policy contexts.

  • Discoverer Plus returning no data and IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0. Desktop OK

We are attempting to create a worksheet in Discoverer Plus. It is based on two tables joined with an outer join. We select 1 field from the master table, then 6 fields from the detail table. The query runs OK (we have no conditions, sorts, calculations nor totals).
When we attempt to add a 7th field from the detail table and run the query, Discoverer Plus displays the error message 'IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0' and the results region says 'No Data'.
If we build exactly the same worksheet with Discoverer Desktop against the same EUL, the query runs OK and returns the expected data. I've experienced this problem before and solved it by deleting the detail folder and re-creating it. (We are using custom folders). After this the query ran OK in Discoverer Plus and returned the expected data.
Has anyone else come across this? Do you know what causes it and/or any better method of solving it?

  • Is it possible to run Discoverer 10g non apps on an Applications database

    Hello,
I am currently working with a customer whose Discoverer implementation was originally implemented with Discoverer 3.1.36 before apps mode existed.
It was installed on an Apps database (Financials).
It was then upgraded to 4 - still in non apps mode and all was ok.
However, now they need to upgrade to 10g, and rather than go through all the rewriting of their security etc (they have an awful lot of custom folders etc), they have asked if they can upgrade their Discoverer 4 non apps EUL to Disco 10g non apps.
However, during some preliminary testing, it seems that some views are not returning data - for example, fnd_flex_values_vl.
If they log in to the test env with Discoverer 4, the data returns with no issues, however with Discoverer 10g (and the same user) it does not.
They are logging in with the eul owner both times and this user contains both the Disco 4 and Disco 10 tables in its schema, so the grants etc are identical.
Is there a technical reason that whilst this worked at 4, it no longer does in 10?
    Kind regards

What happens if they log in as an application user (rather than EUL owner) to retrieve data from these VL views ?

  • Discoverer Viewer not showing correct data when scheduled

    Hi All,
I have a bit of an ongoing issue and cannot find an answer through Oracle.
We have an issue that when a cross-tab workbook is run manually in Desktop this returns correct data, when scheduled in desktop it returns correct data in desktop, but when opening the scheduled workbook in viewer, incorrect and irrelevant data is returned
    Here is a little information on the field that is not returning correct data;
The field is based on a calculation, the calculation (lets call BOB) contains PL/SQL function concatenated with an NVL calculation, this other calculation is a DECODE. I have been playing with changing the content of the BOB calculation, by removing the PL/SQL function and the DECODE calc from BOB and scheduling the report, the data is returned in viewer, in fact i've attempted one without the other and this still does not return the correct data.
This version of discoverer that is not returning data is V 10.1.2.50.05. I've tested this on a later environment with Discoverer V 10.1.55.26 and the data is returning correctly through the sceduled report in viewer.
    My questions;
    1. Has anyone ever come across something similar to this in version 10.1.2.50.05
    2. Is there any detail available regarding what upgrading to 10.1.55.26 offers?
    3. Know any workaround for using PL/SQL calculations in a scheduled workbook? I am aware that not aggregable items will not be returned in v11 when scheduling workbooks.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

  • Differences between  Oracle Discoverer 10g and 11g (EBS & Desktop)

We are in the process of upgrading from Oracle Discoverer 10g testing to Oracle Discoverer 11g.
We have had several requests (from functional users) for documentation that might reflect the changes in this release level. Does anyone have relevant documentation that might help explain what has changed so that they can be better prepared.

We are in the process of going from 10 desktop to 11 plus. I do not like it as other end-users I have talked to don't either. In desktop, I could have multiple reports open at one time, move tabs from one report to another so I wouldn't have to rebuild the report again. Also, there are times I have 3 or more sessions of desktop running with multiple reports running in them. In plus, I am limited to one session and one report. That slows down productivity big time. In desktop, exporting crosstabs to excel is more user friendly than plus. For desktop, it will fill in the cells below with the data above it if it changes. In plus, it looks like a pivot table. I have read other posts on how to work around that, but not always functional. Using Dense_Rank() works sometimes depending on how the report is written. IT is researching another way but haven't heard back from the consultants. Or, I will have to modify all my excel files with formulas to do that for me. Also in desktop, I can select all and copy paste the results into excel and all data comes in. The row and column headers, page items and even the title section will paste into excel. Plus only gives you the data, no row or column headers. So I have to export it every time I need the data. I have formatted excel files that all I need to do is copy paste and data flows beautifully. As for organizing and saving reports, desktop is much better. I can save reports out on our network under different folders so I can find them faster by topic. Granted, if that directory is an open one, anyone can change/delete it. In plus, the only advantage of saving it on the database is I can sort and search for reports or users. If you make any changes in plus and then walk away from your desk, plus will shut down after a certain time period. If you didn't save it, you have to start over. Don't know if this is something IT can fix???
As we see it, plus is a step back in technology. I hope someone can change that opinion. Don't know if we are not getting the best support from whoever is working with us (Oracle or 3rd party) or we are missing something???? If so, please share.
    Thanks.

  • Tables or views to be included in Discoverer 10g

    Hi,
In our test environment we have migrated to R12 and using Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.55.26). Since there is a way the security has changed I require some help.
In production we are using 11i and the same version of Discoverer. In production I could use the "_v" views or tables where there was in-built security. When a user queries in discoverer, the user would be able to view data only pertaining to his/her responsibility.
In our test environment please can someone help me for the following (R12 with Disc 10g)
Which is the "_v" views or tables or "where clause to restrict the access" to user in discoverer wherein based on the users responsibility, the data will be displayed.
    GL Balances
    GL Hearder & Details
    AR Balances
    Receipts
AR Invoice header & lines & distribution
    AP Balances
AP Invoice header & lines & distribution
    Payment Overview
    Prepayment Enquiry
Kindly note, regardless of the security setup in the R12, I would want a "_v" views or tables or "where clause" which can be used always.
If there is solution based on "_v" views or tables and a solution also based on "where clause", which would be ideal to use in terms of performance.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Ajay

You can use the eTRMs to get this information.
Follow this link https://etrm.oracle.com/pls/trm11510/etrm_fndnav.ls_apps or search for eTRM in Metalink (you'll need a Metalink login to access the eTRMs).
Go to the FND tab and choose the product OTA - Learning Management. This will give a list of all the relevant tables. OTA_EVENTS and OTA_DELEGATE_BOOKINGS would be a good place to start.
    Hope this helps,
    Kim

  • Exception Handling in Discoverer 10g

I am using a PL/SQL function which will return a value to a column in Discoverer 10g .I want to give a custom message in discoverer if any error occurs in that function. Is it feasible in Discoverer?

I don't think Disco will do this by itself.
You could try having the function perform the error handling and either pass back a value or a message. A potential drawback would be that the function would have to return a character datatype.

    1. Get the SQL from the Oracle Report and then create a database view that's more generic based on the SQL but still gets the answers.
For example, you'd not code many conditions, etc. but the database view would be pointing to the correct Oracle Apps tables / views.
Once you've got the view, bring it in to Disco Admin, etc. and create a report from it that now adds the extra conditions needed. That way you can use the underlying concept without hard coding things like dates, etc. which you would ask the user at run time.
However ... as you may well know ... Oracle Reports can do some 'strange and/or powerful things' on the fly and, for example, it may be something like a temporary table generated for the report, etc. so may become a much bigger issue.
    2. If you have NoetixViews views then they'll most likely already have the views for these queries already created as they're reasonable for what's needed in an Oracle environment.
    3. I'd see if there is already a pre-defined BIS view that covers this as well. Again, you're in an area that's pretty popular so if a BIS view already covers much of the same info then you've got a create view 'head start' already. Check views owned by Apps starting with the application plus FV or FG (the one you'd really want) such as: GLFG_Budgets_To_Actuals to see what I mean.

  • Tweaking defaults of Discoverer 10g (Viewer and Plus) login page

Using information gleaned from the Metalink notes referenced below, we've had our admins successfully configure our default Discoverer 10g login pages (for Viewer and Plus) with the following tweaks:
    1) Remove the "typo-prone" entry box for RESPONSIBILITY (on an Apps-Mode EUL) in favor of the subsequent drop-down LOV option to select available responsibilities
    2) Re-order CONNECT TO options to make the more frequently used APPS-MODE option first in the drop-down list, followed by the STANDARD (relational) and finally, OLAP (to be hopefully implemented at some future date)
    3) Re-label CONNECT TO options with terminology more understandable to our end-users in order to better understand choices
We would like, if possible, to further enhance the relative efficiency of the user login experience by making the APPS-MODE option the default selection upon initial entry to the page (the above-indicated re-ordering of the entries didn't appear to affect Oracle's continued default selection of the STANDARD option).
If anyone has any suggestions / tips to accomplish this, we would greatly appreciate your feedback. I should also say, that we don't possess a lot of Java Development skills and therefore would appreciate any directions provided in a "cookbook/recipe" manner similar to those provided in the Metalink documents we were able to utilize for the changes made thus far.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I would have to suspect that the answer to the question of restricting responsibilities might well be yes.
    Here's one idea:
Because responsibilities come from FND_RESPONSBILITIES, can you write a piece of SQL that positively identifies the responsibilities that are used inside Discoverer? If you can do that, I'm wondering whether a Discoverer logon trigger might be able to set a VPD policy to only allow those responsibilities.
I don't have any time to try it otherwise I would. Is there anyone who can pick this up and run with it to see what can be made to happen?
    Best wishes
    Michael
