Discussion Server Authentication Failed From Inside FMW App

Hi Community,
My Env:
Webcenter 11.1.1.3.0
Weblogic 10.3.3
The discussion server shipped with webcenter suite is Jive Forums Silver 5.5.20 .2-oracle.
I wired the discussion server to embedded LDAP server of my weblogic server, and deployed an app that utilize the discussion service.
But when accessing the app page, I got an exception "failure to authenticate the user pbrown, due to: Authentication Failed".
The users do exist in LDAP server and I can login to http://server:8890/owc_discussions page with that users, I also granted all privileges to the users in jive console, but it doesn't work inside the app.
My Jive server log:

  • Running reports: "REP-0238: Security server authentication failed"

    Good afternoon,
I installed Oracle9iAS Release 2 v.9.0.2 (Application Server) on Sun-Solaris as well as
Oracle 9iAS Reports Services module. I simply want to run a report from a command line
rwserver.sh. I constantly get the message "REP-0238: Security server authentication failed".
What is to be done to enable authentication?
    Thanks.
    GM.

    hello,
    a) rwserver.sh is the script to start a reports server. if you want to run a reports-job you should either use the command rwclient or use the servlet via a web-browser.
    b) when installing iAS R2 the reports server is running in secure mode. this means when you run a report via the browser you will get a login-screen where you have to provide a vaild SSO username/password. if you are running from the commandline, you have to provide the paramter AUTHID passing a valid SSO username/password.

  • Why can't I e-mail from photos or from inside other apps anymore? I have been able to before.

Why can't I e-mail from photos or from inside other apps anymore? I have been able to before.

That’s just the problem I’m having. I follow all the steps as found in the iPhoto help. I select a photo then click the i (INFO) button in the lower right corner to open Faces - Keywords - Places pane. Then select the Keyword I want to remove, then the delete key. The key word I want to remove is removed okay at that point, (from the Keywords pane.)
However, when I go and do the same operation on a second photo - again the keyword is removed in the Keywords pane - then when I go back the first photo - the unwanted keyword is back.

  • JNDI Lookup of ConnectionFactory fails from inside Glassfish application

This may very well end up being a glassfish specific question.
I've got a stand-alone WAR using JSF, where I have a backing bean use some helper objects that will send a JMS message. When this WAR is running from inside of Glassfish, it fails to do the lookup of the ConnectionFactory.
The application pulls the Queue JNDI and the Provider URL from a database, and uses a env Hashtable to do the JNDI InitialContext (which succeeds.) Using this Context, the ConnectionFactory lookup fails.
The remote server in this instance is WebLogic 9.2 (the JNDI is publically available with no user authentication, verified with a JMS developer tool we use internally.)
    Here's the stacktrace...

I've found the problem, and it's something I simply overlooked. I don't know why I didnt realize, but i was setting the java.naming.factory.initial env variable to what Glassfish uses, not WebLogic.

  • Windows authentication fails from Mac browser when LB is in between

    (1)     A new instance of Windows server 2008 R2 is taken and IIS server is installed.
On IIS server, ‘Windows Authentication’ is enabled and all the other authentication (anonymous, basic) is disabled.
    (2)     From Safari browser on Mac, a IIS resource (protected by Windows Authentication) is accessed by directly accessing IIS server. The resource access is successful.
    (3)     Now a Load Balancer is configured in front of IIS server.
    (4)     From Safari browser on Mac, a IIS resource (protected by Windows Authentication) is accessed by accessing load balancer. Here IIS server prompts for username and password.
Seems that authentication negotiation is failing between Mac browser and IIS when LB is in between. Can somebody pls know the reason / resolution for this issue ?
    Thanks

I was just helping someone with this same issue, and found this post searching for answers. I think it's a problem with your web hosting provider. It looks like whois is saying you both use readyhosting.net, is that right?
If you go into the developer options and override the User Agent string, you can make the issue start and stop. When the user agent string starts with "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1", then the page with show the error message. If it starts with anything else, then it works fine.
This, and the fact that you did not make any changes to your site makes it sound like your hosting provider changed something. You probably need to have them fix it somehow.

  • REP-0238: Security server authentication failed.

when I tried to call report(s) from java swing application using rwclient I am getting the following error:
    REP-0238: Security server authenticatin failed.
Looks like Single server sign-on is on and I am using orace9ias(9.0.2) on windows 2000.
    Could some one help me...
    Thanks,
    Raju

    Hi Raju,
Looks like Single server sign-on is on Single Sign-on is applicable when you authenticate yourself using a browser, and not applicable in your case (you are using rwclient). The meaning of single sign-on is that if you authenticate yourself once (eg, while accessing your application or a portal page or another report), in the same browser session you should not be asked for authentication again. As I said, this is not applicable for rwclient requests. For rwclient requests, you have to authenticate yourself in every request.
However, though single sign-on is not applicable, server security is still enforced while you are using rwclient. That is, only authorized users can access the secure reports server and secure reports. So what you should do is provide the credentials for accessing the reports server in your request like this:
    rwclient report=.... server=... authid=username/password
The usernbame password above are for those users who have permission on the reports server and the report. You can set and view these permissions using Oracle Portal.
Let me now if you have further questions.
    Navneet.

  • SOCKS Server Authentication- Failed

I am trying to access server through putty, sockes is configured, i am able to access one server, but when i am trying to access other server, its ask for SOCKS Server Authentication , username box is filled with my windows username, when i give pw it give username/pw errer...any idea to fix this?

Please, please try to be much more precise about what you've done and what is configured. the question you are asking now this way can only be solved by the forum by either luck or clairvoyance.
    please answer the following questions:
you've got a client with putty as an ssh client. is there any configuration done on putty? if yes, what?
there's one host you can access apparently. is that host on the same network, or is the socks proxy needed to access that host? is there any configuration been done in putty for this specific host? (click on the host specification in putty, then click 'load'; that way the settings for that host are loaded. next look in the properties if there's some configuration been done)
there's one host you can't access apparently. is that host on the same network,or is the socks proxy needed to access that host? is the configuration of this host different from the latter one?

  • Wiki-Server, authentication fails with iPad

    Hello everybody,
I have made a clean installation of OS X Server.
I see a strange behavior with Wiki. When I try to authenticate with the iPad it says: "Failed to log in sucessfully" ?? I can, however access the Wikis that are "publicly" available without any issue, but what about the "hidden" ones?!
When I use the Macbook, Firefox on a PC, or the iPhone then it's all fine. Authentication works as expected.
    Am I missing here something?

I have this exact issue in my school, massively annoying being as we have a 1:1 rollout of over a thousand iPads and had invested considerable time developing resources on the wiki, and now, the only device it doesn't work on, is the same device that we have given to all our pupils.

  • Lion client OD bind to Lion server - Authentication Failed

Authenticated bind enabed via terminal command. Client and server are up to date. I've been able to bind Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion clients over the last few weeks before this MacBook Air but for some reason it keeps failing with an authentication error. I can log into WGM on the server using my Diradmin account without issue. This is the same account I'm attempting to bind with. I have a non-admin account that can bind clients and it too is failing on the client side. I've been Googling for hours and haven't identified a source or solution. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm just shy of demoting my OD master, promoting it, and re-importing my OD config. I don't want to though.

    Hello michaelhoch,
    could you find any solution?
I have the same setup: OS X Leopard Server 10.5.8, and Snow Leopard Clients. Everything worked fine. But now I get the first OS X Lion Client, and I can not use Mail, iChat, iCal and so on. I found the same errormessage in Console, and I think I also have a problem with the user directories on the server.

  • MFA (Certificate) Authentication Failing from Extranet

Hi, we have set up ADFS3 and WAP. ADFS3 configured to require MFA (Certificate) from both Intranet and Extranet. We are using our own CA and the root CA is installed on the WAP in Trusted Root CA store. The certificate port of 49443 is open from the Internet
and also inward from the WAP to the ADFS3 server, as is 443.
When we test we can use MFA from the Intranet, but when we try the same from the Internet (Extranet) we get the Forms Logon page okay, enter our user details, select our user cert, and then we get a 403 error - The Website declined to show the web page.
The CRL is resolvable from the Internet, and can be reached okay...
Is there something we have missed please?
    Thank you for any help.
    Phil

    Hi Steve,
Yes, I have restarted both ADFS and WAP Servers.
As a further update, I have even purchased an SSL cert from Comodo to check it this is a Public\Private CA issue, and I still get the same 403 error... I have even tried configuring the backend Web Site (SharePoint in this case) to allow Anonymous authentication,
just to see if I could get to the site via the WAP, but I still get the same 403 error... Its strange because the URL is still pointing to the Web Address of the ADFS server when I get the 403... Its difficult to see as there arent any IIS logs either now...
    Thanks
    Phil

  • Gmail 2-step verification: STMP server login fails

After activating 2-step a few days ago I have been very happy. Then I discovered that my MacPro Mail.app can't connect to my Gmail SMTP server (I was using my hosted domain SMTP before).
    Symptoms:
My MacBook Pro is a clone of the MacPro, Mail.app connects fine on the MacBook Pro, send/receive IMAP or POP3,  (using the same application specific token (AST) which I originally assigned to Mail.app on MacPro). That was a surprise - I expected the MBP to require a new AST distinct from the MacPro Mail.app token.
To make sure all was kosher, I generated a fresh AST for the MacPro Mail.app, updated the settings.
MacPro/Mail.app receives via IMAP, but fails connecting to the SMTP server (which I have updated with the new AST).
    Today's further troubleshooting:
    (1) I revoked the application specific passwords for Mail.app both Macs, deleted all the associated Keychain entries. Generated new application specific passwords for the MP ==> IMAP send works but the Macpro SMTP server login still fails.
    (2) I turned off 2-step verification, changed all Mail.app passwords back to simple pwd. Everything works but SMTP server login fails
    (3) In Mail.app I deleted and recreated the account for a *different* Gmail IMAP address. That worked fine, including the associated SMTP login.
This is silly, but there seems to be a curse on one specific smtp.gmail.com login. I have left 2-step verification turned off for the moment until I resolve the SMTP login fault.
If I deleted and recreated the problem IMAP account in Mail.app it would probably fix the problem. But we are in Australia with tight bandwidth caps, I can't afford to redownload 20,000+ emails. And I need them local because we often don't have internet access.

For me, this problem occurs only with Google Apps accounts - these are the ones where you use your own domain e.g. yourdomain.com and not gmail.com.
Wwo-step authentication is disabled on the Google Apps account.
Right click on your mail account name (under Inbox) and click "Edit Account"
Edit the SMTP server list and select the advanced tab.
By default Apple mail only has your user name in the user name field (e.g. user1)
Change this to [email protected] and reenter your password.
I also set the SMTP port to 587
    Everything is working fine now

Or try this as well ....Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
